I have been looking for a not-too-large lamp I can leave on in the hall overnight in case I need to negotiate it with my wheelchair, and this one fits the bill well. It is going to be a bit of a nuisance replacing the rather odd CFB, but reportedly, I won't need to for several months: it's supposed to last 10,000 hours, and I have found CFBs to hold up very well. This would be attractive on a desk also, and it does not take up much space.

This lamp looks very good. You don't need to use another source of light when it's on. It brights the room. Only problem I have is the switch. It's on the wire and hard to reach.

I ordered two of these lamps. I LOVE them!!! They are super delicate looking but not so that my husband would say "YIKES". They came SUPER quick and were in perfect condition. They look just like the picture!! The only thing I would caution is this; please be careful when putting the metal center piece (inside the paper lamps) in place...mine slipped once and poked a hole through the uber thin paper! With that being said, just be careful and you're SURE to LOVE these lamps!!!

This lamp is perfect for my bedroom, which has somewhat of an asian theme. It does provide quite a bit of light but sets a softer mood. I almost always defer to this lamp now instead of the brighter overheard ceiling lights. A little expensive for what you're getting, but I'm pleased with it.

This lamp is SO cute! LOVE it! As a previous reviewer said, they look just like the picture! And, you do need to be careful when putting the metal frame into the paper shades. I love that each side takes a 60 watt bulb, for a total of 120 watts. Also, the switch on the bottom is convenient. The finish is great, too. Putting/screwing the bulbs into the socket is a bit of a pain, because you have to get the bulb into the shade, which requires moving the internal wire frame to the side without ripping the shade. Otherwise, this is a terrific lamp. I do agree with a previous reviewer that this lamp should be priced lower. I'd say maybe $40.

Love the warm glow that comes from the individual rocks on this lamp. Orange, green, red and purple stones cover the shade. Lamp is largely for the enjoyment of seeing the rocks illuminated, since the lamp uses a maximum of 40 watts. But that is fine for my purpose.

I like the look of the lamp. I don't like the shoddy quality of the product. I had to cut the felt from the bottom so that I could tighten the nut on the lamp in order to keep it from spinning when it shouldn't. It's sloppy paint job on the base doesn't lend itself to calling it a quality product either for the dollars spent.

I really love the touch lamp, so beautiful. Only thing was the bottom bubbled out and wobbles around but I put a piece of cardboard under it and now it is much better and sits even and straight. This is, without question, the best lamp I have ever had for close up work, crafting and reading. I can adjust it to just about any height and angle. My only regret is that I didn't find this lamp sooner!

pros: really nice heavy base, sleek look

cons: the top joint loosens up very quickly from the wieght of the reflector and you cannot tighten it by hand. You have to use a flat head screwdriver and you have to be careful not to strip the plastic bolt. The quality of the light is overrated! This bulb flickers more than I've ever seen.

For this price, I would certainly not recommend this product to anyone. You can find many similar work lamps with nice heavy bases and the much more versatile type a bulb socket. You can get just as good or even better quality light from a daylight spectrum cfl or led bulb. Ottlite also offers their own brand of cfl bulbs which I currently use in my tattoo studio. I recommend those.

this is another poorly made lamp with critical flaws. The big flaw with this lamp is the crane arm. The arm itself is solid but the joints where the lamp bends are seriously weak and no matter how much you tighten the elbow knobs the crane arms fold with just a mild touch...

I would not recommend this lamp or the Koncepts Z lamp...Both of this lamps are very poorly designed

I ordered this on March 31, 2012. It arrived today, April 17, 2012. GREAT looking lamp. Very pleased with its appearance. I unpacked it and cleared off a spot on my daughter's desk. Found a three-way GE bulb. Plugged it in. Turned it on. Oh-oh. I have an on state and and off state, NO THREE-WAY ILLUMINATION, which is a major reason I bought this lamp.

The socket is labeled as three-way, 50-100-150. So I call the vendor, Lamps Plus. First the representative I spoke with tells me to make sure the little metal tab in the bottom of the socket is making contact with the light bulb base. Well, duh, it LIGHTS, therefore we know that a circuit is being completed, yes? The problem is that it's not functional three-ways. I swap another three-way bulb. Same problem.

So the problem appears to be that the lamp manufacturer, Haeger Potteries, either changed and mislabeled the lamp or just screwed up and didn't install a three-way socket.

I was offered A) a discount B) an opportunity to return the lamp -I don't have a vehicle and I can't see carrying a 2'x2'x2' box a mile and a half to the nearest FedEx office. By this time I'm getting a pretty good case of the tight jaws and explain through clenched teeth that I am a single father on a fixed income and this was not a frivolous purchase, AND it was intended for my daughter. I ask to speak to her manager. I wait. She comes back and offers to have the lamp picked up. I thank her and ask to speak to her manager again. I wait more. She comes back on the line and tells me that she can't locate a manager and they'll have to call me back.

I have steam coming out of my ears. It's a LAMP, it's a simple TABLE LAMP. It was described and it labeled as having a three-way socket, that was a major selling point. I am not amused. Simple competence is not too much to expect. Shall I walk to Home Depot and buy a three-way socket and rewire the lamp myself? That sounds simpler than returning it and waiting another two weeks and hoping that Haegar Potteries can pull a part from the correct bin this time around.

Let's recap: Beautiful lamp, made in the USA. Two weeks for a FedEx delivery seemed like a good long wait, plus the tracking number I was provided had no delivery date. Not impressive. And, the killer, the three-way socket is either defective or mislabeled, the bottom line being that I don't have the three-way desk lamp I wanted for my daughter's room.

I am not happy. Perhaps you ought to consider a different manufacturer and a different vendor if you're in the market for a nice desk lamp.

Two hours later I called Lamps Plus back, since I hadn't received the promised call from a manager. The manager I spoke with told me that due to a recent California law, lamp manufacturers have to swap out three-way switches for regular switches in order for lamps to be used with the excretable "CFL" lamps -drop one of those and you have to call a HazMat team to clean up the mess. CFL lamps are a bad idea IMHO. ANYWAY. There would be no point in returning this lamp and hoping that the replacement would have a three-way switch. I have to buy one and install it myself. Lamps Plus is going to refund $25 of the price. That ought to cover the cost of a three-way switch.

Why wasn't this lamp described as NOT having a three-way switch on Amazon? Why is it labeled as having a three-way switch? What dumb California law resulted in this mess?

The oval shade that comes with this piece looks incredibly awkward on top of the lamp itself. It just looks smashed and odd to me, and I plan to replace it. Considering how much it cost, I really wasn't pleased. If it had been shown from a side angle, I don't know that I would've purchased it.

I will say that aside from the shade, the lamp is well represented by the picture. It's got some weight to it and the base is a decent size, so it doesn't seem like it'll topple easily. I've got 2 pretty active cats and they have yet to threaten the safety of this lamp. I'm not sure it's worth the price, considering that I'll be replacing the insanely ugly shade.

If you want a nice little desk lamp that puts out decent light for reading or writing but not illuminating the whole room then this is for you. Sturdy base and construction. Design makes it nice to hang jewelry from. Only complaint is that the on/off is on the cord. It'd be nicer if it was on the lamp area somehow but its not too annoying.

The lamp looks great, but the build quality is not so great. 1) The power switch is on the cord, and; 2) The stem is not tightly connected to the base(at least on mine).

1) The switch is 12" behind the lamp on the cord. In any situation I can imagine, this will leave the power switch behind the desk or end table and be hard to access. It's either that or leave 12 inches of cord on the table so you can find the switch.

It would have been easy to design and manufacture this lamp with a dark brown toggle switch on the base. It could be hidden on the side or placed right on top.

2) My lamp's post is loose on the base and easily swings left and right. I will have to remove the felt glued to the bottom of the base to see if it can be tightened, or live with it lose.

Not sure yet if I will return it or take it apart and try and fix the base and maybe even install a proper toggle switch on the base.

Otherwise, I like the amount and quality of light through the shade and like how the lamp looks on the whole.

I really like the quality of this lamp. It's very heavy and substantial, and has a subtle elegance I don't often see in this price range. What a good deal!

I ordered only one at first because I wasn't sure if it would look good in my bedroom. It looks terrific, so I'm going to order another one for the other side of the bed.

I will keep my fingers crossed that it makes it here intact. Unfortunately, the first shipment arrived with the shade in shards, but the replacement made it through the shipping process in one piece. And even with super saver shipping, it arrived the next week.

I purchased this lamp intended as a gift for newlyweds. It arrive well-packaged in outwardly good condition, but when removed from the box, there was an obvious large, gaping crack at the "t" where the horizontal piece holding the shade crosses the narrow, upright "stem" portion. It appeared that a repair had been attempted. The crack opening allowed me to see past the dark exterior finish and deep into the composition material. As it turns out, the lamp is not metal (as listed in the description). It is a type of a polymer materiallooking for all intents and puposes, as a standard white plastic. There is no type of supporting rod nor any metal reinforcement under the plastic. The upright piece holding all of the weight is composed completely of the polymer material, which explains why the lamp cracked at a most vulnerable spot where the arc holding the shade piece was attached. Other than this disappointment, the lamp is outwardly attractive, a generous size, and a very fair price for a Craftsman-style piece. If sturdiness is not a requirement for you, it is an acceptable puchase. Because of the upright design, a break would not be amenable to a lasting repair without some type of an interior reinforcement being added. Since it will be a gift, I prefer to look for something more long-lasting.

I was so looking forward to getting this lamp, since the shade in the photo is so lovely. In the description it says that its primary colors are green, pink and purple. There was virtually no pink and absolutely no purple to be seen. It was mostly an ugly brown and ugly blue/green colour. The shade is oval and really very ugly. It says it's made of glass, but it feels more like plastic than anything else. Horribly disappointed with this ugly lamp. The tree shaped stand as well was an uglier shade of brown than the photo and looks cheap.

I received it in a timely fashion (yay amazon!) It came in a box within a box. The inner box was on of those soft cardboard boxes that come from china. The lamp was packed in styrafoam. My surprise was that the shade is small and oval, not circular. It looks much grander and larger on the photo. This is smaller that I would have liked it to be. I'll still use it though and there are no pinks in the shade but it is still pretty. Two chains for two regular sized 60 watt bulbs.

The product itself seems sturdy and the pewter looks much better than my old 'gold' but be aware that 2 piece does not mean two harps. It means the bottom detaches from the top and you get only 1 harp in the package. What struck me most was that the desk lamp's base is nice and heavy, so it's not likely to be tipped or knocked over. The switch on the top of the lamp has 3 settings: off, low, and high. I've found that the low setting is pretty useless for any type of reading at the desk (even reading on a computer). It might be ok for a night light though. The High setting is nice bright white light. The biggest complaint I have about the lamp is the choice for a glossy black finish for the top portion of the lamp because it attracts dust like crazy.

This is a very well made, well designed LED light. It's sleek and stylish and very versatile. But.... the light is just not nearly as bright as I hoped it would be. It's actually a fairly weak light IMHO.

PROS:

Well made, sturdy, sleek, looks just great.

Has a nightlight mode which emits a soft little light.

The power cable detaches and clips to the back of the light... perfect for keeping the cable in check.

Nice long power cable, about 4-5 feet.

The light arm rotates up & down 180 degrees (or something like that). Very easy to change the light throw without moving the lamp around.

No bulbs to replace...ever! It's an LED lamp.

CONS:

The light is surprisingly weak. This is more of a task light than a lamp. It has very very little throw. I had wanted to replace my regular "bankers style" desk lamp with this one but the Verilux doesn't even put out as much light as my old cheap bankers light. For the price (and I hate to review on price) it's really hard to justify keeping this lamp. I will try it out for a few days and then decide.

This light would need to be twice as bright to make it a "true" desk lamp.
