...couldn't resist the opportunity to give the folks at Danray a plug here. It's seldom that you find a product that really trips your trigger, but this is truly an exceptional flexible light for any demanding hobbyist or discriminating pro.

After looking all over the place and testing several lights, we stumbled on the snakearm and bought a few for a trial. I must say, after a few months of testing...we are thrilled with the performance and quality!

The magnet is heavy duty and has not lost it's holding power. The flexible neck does not sag or get weak. The electronics are heavy duty. This is a real pro's light!

We have equipped our entire factory (grinders, work benches, cleaning stations) with these lights and look forward to many years of excellent service.

I have two moffat lamps and actually prefer the Danray because of how the arm is attached to the base.

The Moffat does have a convenient quick release but the lamp is allowed to spin. This is great for horizontal mounting but won't work on vertical surfaces as the lamp head will always swing down. The Danray arm is bolted to the magnetic base and the head stays where you put it.

I needed a magnetic mountable lamp for my floor-standing drill press which has no included light. This lamp seems to be quite well constructed and the magnet is very strong. In might case, the 24" arm is probably a little long, but it doesn't really cause any problems. When the DP is running the lamp is rock solid, which is exactly what I needed--I don't want to be worrying about whether or not the lamp will stay attached.

The picture of the item is true to form. I am very happy with the looks of the item, but it arrived damaged. I am not sure how the damaged occurred since the box had no damage, nor the interior styrofoam. It was very well packaged; however one corner is dented, with the coating broken from the metal. I need to insert a shim under the corner to even the lamp, as there was a 3/8 difference with the rest of the legs.

I have a screen porch and have a table with an umbrella "hole" in the middle of it. I wanted to purchase an outdoor table lamp, and when I typed that in for my search, this lamp was an option. I didn't even know that such a thing existed, and thought what a prefect place to put a lamp; Lovvvvve! It is very well made, and even though the porch has a ceiling, it is still exposed to the elements. The lamp it is very well "weather proofed", with a good heavy outlet cord. We spend a lot of time on our porch, and this really adds the right amount of ambience!

I purchased another brand of LED bulbs at Home Depot for a dimmable ceiling fan/light fixture. My wife immediately noticed them and complained that the light they produced was too harsh. Dimming them wasn't an option because it didn't change the color of the light, and when dimmed they generated a loud buzzing sound. So I purchased these to see if they would be more like the incandescent bulbs I was replacing, only much more efficient. These are much, much better. They look funky when they're not turned on (they're noticeably yellow) and they do buzz a little when dimmed (hardly noticeable when the room is completely quite), but the light they produce is much more like what's created by an incandescent bulb. They're a little expensive, but worth the money.

Have been searching for LED replacements for the various applications in our home. So far most of the light has been too bright, too blue, or just spooky.

These bulbs are at the other end of the spectrum. A bit too dim for our use, very yellow. My wife says they look like cf"s that are still warming up.

Compared to 40 watt Sylvania soft white standard bulb and could not tell the difference. Most LED bulbs do not distribute light evenly and make poor choices for lamps or other fixtures that point up. These are the exception and send light in all directions. Do not be concerned about the Yellow exterior, these bulbs produce soft white light.

These are pretty heavy and feel well built. They are in retail packaging and were shipped in flawless condition.

Have not tested them in a dimmer or outdoors.

Highly recommeded so far.

I have purchased several of these bulbs and found them to be very nice replacements for incandescent bulbs. I am using these in living room fixtures and in our bedroom nightstands. They are dimmable and unlike other brands of dimmable bulbs I have purchased, these do not buzz when dimmed. I recommend these Philips bulbs, even though they are a bit more expensive than other brands of LED bulbs. Don't be put off by the yellow top of the bulb when lit, they have the color of a regular incandescent bulb.

Perfect little light with ipod speakers! We got the purple one and my daughter loves it in her room. It's super cute, the sound quality is much better than I expected. I'm not sure about the 2 light settings that others have mentioned. When we touch the on/off touch button it just turns the light on and off. It sounds like maybe it's supposed to dim as well? Either way it's a nice addition to a little girl's room and I'm very pleased with our purchase.

I want only to underline that the dark colors like this one make reading totally impossible. Try the white ones maybe.

The violet glows given by LED bulbs in the room is considered 'super-kool'.

Sound is not that bad with an iPod touch (I knew I can't expect a sound like a high end sound-system of course) the 'gliding command' on the base are kool too, reported my 16yo son.

He is happy so am I! ;-)

This is not a lamp for nighttime reading the brightness isn't enough for that. I would have given this lamp only 3 stars because the product description made me think it could be used to both amplify an iPod and to charge it. But it can't be used for charging. I am giving it 4 stars because both of my daughters like it so much. The on/off switch is super easy to find and use and that is one thing they really like, along with the color.

I bought these to try in a bathroom where the color is important for those who apply makeup.

These worked out fine in terms of light output with just one minor operational annoyance....they take about 1 second to come on, this does not sound like much, but if they were the only light in the area it might be disconcerting (you throw the switch and the light does not come on instantly). I have three compact Florescent fittings in the bathroom which themselves do take time to strike, but it's only a hundred milliseconds or so. The effect is that you throw the switch and the general light comes on, and then there is a perceptible delay till the down lights come on.

I assume the delay on start is tied to the fact they cannot be dimmed, so consider them great value where instant start or dimming are not required.

We were really looking forward to get this lamp. It looks pretty cool when you see it online.

But when we got it we were disappointed. The joints can only be moved in one direction, so you can't really adjust it to your needs.

The brightness, however, can be adjusted but the highest level is actually not really bright enough.

The weight of the lamp is okay; for being somewhat bigger than usual desk lamps, it is not too heavy.

The design was what we expected and looks great. Too bad that they couldn't do a better job on the joints.

This is a very light, very bright lamp. It weighs around one pound and is designed to clip on any surface which has an exposed lip. The clamp is very strong and because of the small weight of the lamp it will remain stable wherever you clamp it.

I used the lamp from the same distance I usually use reading lamps, about three feet away. The light was bright enough to not cause any strain while reading, although the "cooler" color of the LED light took a little getting used to. I think this lamp is an excellent reading lamp which will work very well on something like a bed headboard. I also think people who do fine detail work like sewing or cross-stitching will find this to be a very useful tool, not just for the amount of light it puts out but also for its portability.

I have no idea how long the LED bulb will last, but if it is like other LED products I own, it will be a long time. I don't think I've lost an LED bulb yet. The LED bulb draws very little electricity which is great budget-wise. While it would not be useful for illuminating a room, if you get up frequently at night, it could be incredibly useful as a low energy cost night light. The only issue I had was with the power cord which at 6' could not always reach an outlet, thus requiring an extension cord as almost a standard accessory.

This is a versatile, reasonably priced tool which you may find useful in more ways than you can initially imagine.

This is a bright little lamp that can be stretched into just about any direction with little ease. I have mine clamped on to my keyboard tray for better nighttime work at the computer. The light does not burn or strain my eyes.

The clamp and the head are made of plastic, which is a bit worrisome, but I don't plan on moving this light much.

This is a great little reading lamp that can be plugged in anywhere where bright light is needed.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Let's face it, this is one pretty bright light. It would be a fully functional desk light even if it was the only light on in the room. I have been using it as a light clipped to my headboard for light when reading at night. It illuminates the whole room and makes nighttime reading much easier. It took me a few minutes to find the on/off button, but it is an innocuous white button right next to the bulb on the face of the light. One really stupid problem I keep having is blinding myself every time I try to turn it off, but I count that as my own stupidity in not just reaching for the button instead of looking for it.

My one issue with the lamp is the gooseneck. It isn't as tight as it should be, and therefore it doesn't hold alternate angles as well as the typical clipped to a desk overhang angle. For instance, if you bend it up or straight out, it doesn't stay there. I wish it held its angle better so I could put it in the perfect position. The clip, however, is seriously strong and grips anything, small or large (headboard or wrought iron, etc.). I don't think I'd get this light again unless the neck was fixed, but it is still a pretty good light despite that one small flaw.

The lighting is great from this desk lamp. However it is cheaply made. The adjustments constantly come loose and if the light falls hard enough due to the adjustment coming loose it will break. Made of plastic products it does not hold up. Duct Tape works well to remedy if it breaks though. Again great lighting cheaply made duct tape is a good, cheap repair.

Doesn't like to stay very long at some angles, no matter how tightly you screw at the joint. Light is very white and stark. Not what I consider "sun like" but I suppose that all comes down to measured color temperature. This lived on my desk for a few years, but I'm removing it today. Just stopped by here to see if it was still selling and worth anything. (No.) It's going to charity for a tax writeoff, but this light will be good for somebody, I'm sure.

Cheap, flimsy plastic construction, which is exactly what I've learned to expect from China. The 'touch switch' is faulty and only allows me to turn the light on every once in a while. So basically I have a desktop lamp that only works when it want to.
