I've had one of these in a little lamp with a white shade that sits on an end table I have. It's used most nights I'm home and it's lasted for ages. The colors of the glass do start to fade a bit after such a long while however, even though the bulb life goes on and on. If they made some with different wattages, like for instance at least 60, that would be wonderful. Unfortunately they only come in 25 watts. If there were higher wattages, I'd be tempted to use more of them here and there around my home, although they are a bit pricey...

However, I do have a major complaint with these bulbs. On every one of them that I've seen, almost 1/3 of the bulb surface is yellow glass. There are more yellow pieces than any other color except for red, and the red pieces are smaller. I counted more than one bulb, and this was the average result:

Yellow: 10 pieces

Red: 10

Orange: 7

Blue: 5

Green: 3

The pieces which are fewest in number are also the smallest in size. I'm not sure why that is. Personally, I don't find a predominance of yellow to be appealing. I would prefer that the colored pieces which comprise these bulbs were more equal in size and distribution and therefore with a bit less yellow-tinted light.

UPDATE JAN 2012:

Sometime after writing this review, I began to find that some of the bulbs I bought were being made with more red glass and less yellow. (I uploaded a picture.) I think that for some reason this was usually the case when I got them together in 2-packs. But after a certain point, the place where I got the 2-packs unfortunately stopped carrying them that way, and I've been unable to find them sold like that anywhere since then.

Also, as of right now it looks like the price of these has risen almost 50% since I originally posted this review. Hmm.

I bought a set of two of these bulbs at Walmart the other day for $9.00 in the clearance isle. Never seen stained glass bulbs before so i curiously bought them. When i got home i put it in a Lamp with a clear/frost white shade. WoW! they transformed a lil simple light into Beautiful lamps! these bulbs are awesome! i would recommend thenm to anybody! if you like creativity, uniqueness, and origonality these are for you! i was worried that once these burn out i wouldnt be able to get more, Thank god for the internet! ***** 5 star!

I have the 40-Watt version of these in an overhead light... They're beautiful with the light on or off. Unlike some customers, I haven't seen any fading of the colors {I have 2 in the noted fixture}. The glow emitted by these is very "warm", so don't look for bright light from them. I think they're more about giving the room a warm, welcoming, relaxing feel than about creating a well-lit space. I've had my two bulbs for 8 yrs. now and they're still going strong.

As an added way of making these look even more amazing, put them on a dimmer.... Magic =)

They're a bit pricey, BUT, consider that 5yrs. ago or so, they were $25 each ;)

Love the low-watt purple bulbs. I use them as exterior lighting. They give a soft warm glow. They do not look purple. I wish I could find them at a lower price. I use 9 at a time.

There is very little information packaged with the fixture, including what type of bulbs it takes on the fixture itself there was a sticker stating that it takes up to 60W GC16.5, which is a candelabra-base bulb. The manufacturer's website lists this fixture as taking standard E14 socket bulbs, which is apparently a European standard intermediate sizing and probably explains why this fixture has a difference socket type. Throws plenty of ambient light, is sturdy, attractive and easy to install. I would definitely buy it again.

We bought two of these lights for our kitchen. I really liked the rounded curves and the low profile (it hangs only about 5" from the ceiling). It's modern, but with a softer look because of the curves. Hubby was able to install it pretty easily, despite the lack of instructions. Luckily, hubby was also able to identify the bulbs needed (as others have reported, no bulbs are included, and the instructions don't identify the bulb needed) -it's the skinny base candlelabra incandescent (not halogen or LED). Each socket can take up to 60 watts, which you'll need. We tried 40W, and it wasn't bright enough for task lighting in the kitchen.

When we got this light, we immediately saw that it would not work in the location we had in mind. We never took it all the way out of the box. When I initiated a return, Amazon referred me to the seller who promptly emailed an offer to keep it or return it for a 30% restocking fee. I didn't notice that in the return policy when I made the purchase. I never tried to install it or even see how it lights up. The size is the reason we couldn't use it.

I would never have ordered it had I noticed the restocking fee because you really can't determine how it will look or fit until you actually have it onsite.

This was perfect for my use: a directional reading lamp that can also be used to light bookshelves for browsing and brighten up a dark corner. The lamp is sturdy and the base heavy so it doestn't tip easily, but it also can be lifted and moved around when needed. Each lamp housing swivels all the way around so I can direct it anywhere: to focus on a picture on the wall or on the bookshelves. I am using compact fluorescent bulbs in the lamp so the housings stay cool to the touch while I have plenty of light to ready by. Love the lamp.

I would suggest using energy light bulbs. At first I had regular 60 watt light bulb and it got really hot, but I switched to the spiral energy saving bulbs and the heads do not get nearly as hot and the light is a lot nicer cooler light all around.

I was very pleased when I saw it come out of the box. It looks very nice and had a sturdy base that could even stand up on a carpet. On the first day I used the maximum allowed 60 watt bulbs. A horrible smell filled the room and gave me a headache. I found the center lamp could not be turned off. The reason why is because the rotating switches were held on with glue. The glue melted on the center lamp, and spinning the switch would not turn the small cylindrical piece inside that was covered in melted glue. Apparently I was also breathing in the fumes from hot glue.

I figured 60 watts was too much so after the glue solidified again (after I unplugged it to turn it off) I tried using only 40 watts in all lamp fixtures. The same problem came back. It took twice as long for the glue to melt, but the problem was still there.

I won't use 20 watts because I wanted to use it to read. I am going to attempt to send it back asap if it is not too late.

The worst part of it all is that it is so obvious that you should not be putting glue at the top of a lamp that gets too hot to touch. I am not an engineer, but even I can figure out that making the switches screw on like the top of a bottle would be much better than using a glue which melts and releases horrible fumes.

I am surprised none of the other reviewers had this problem. I wonder if I am the only one unlucky enough to have gotten one which had glue switches instead of some other model they were using. I noticed some of the other reviewers mentioned the smell and heat, but not this problem.

I will not buy from this company again.

It's easy enough to put together and looks fine. The problem is that there are no diffusers on the lamp which makes the bulbs blinding and the spread of light very narrow.

We ordered this for a dining room fixture in our condo, which is in a large, open area with living room and kitchen. It is smaller and thinner than it looks like in the picture, but it is very lovely, gives really great light (should have a dimmer installed when you mount it), which is exactly what we wanted: bright light AND dimmable for dining. It is perfect for our space. Only reason it has only 4 stars is to warn you that it might be smaller than you expect, so if you need a larger presence, then go with the light that has the 2nd bar of lights. But we are very satisfied with the light. (a light bulb was broken in shipping so we had to go to the hardware store immediately, but it is easy to replace, and not too expensive.

I have a screen porch and have a table with an umbrella "hole" in the middle of it. I wanted to purchase an outdoor table lamp, and when I typed that in for my search, this lamp was an option. I didn't even know that such a thing existed, and thought what a prefect place to put a lamp; Lovvvvve! It is very well made, and even though the porch has a ceiling, it is still exposed to the elements. The lamp it is very well "weather proofed", with a good heavy outlet cord. We spend a lot of time on our porch, and this really adds the right amount of ambience!

I really like these lights. The build quality is great. Very solid and smooth, frosted glass finish. The lights themselves are very yellow, and don't put out much light. They mimic candles very well, with a constant low flickering. I was under the impression you could change the light flickering on and off, however, while I found out you can't, it's really not the problem I thought it might have been as the flickering is very subtle.

The way you turn the lights on and off is either by tipping it to the side and back, or shaking it up and down slightly, works great. Though it would've been cool if you could blow them out. The best use of these lights is probably as night lights. I use them if I get up in the night and need to walk through the house to the kitchen or restroom. Not too much light to wake up other, just enough to help me find my way and not crash into anything.

The batteries last quite a while on a full charge, though I haven't timed them, they seem to last a full day/night when on. Hopefully the LED's and batteries will hold up for a long time, as neither can be replaced. The charging base could have been designed a bit better, it seems like the cheapest part of the set, though it does work great. You simply set the candle lights in each charge circle and it charges, no plugging the lights in or anything wires to deal with other than the single plug for the charge station.

Overall, the light's are a great replacement for actual candles. They put off about the same amount of light as a small candle, they look good, plus you can put these in places you can use traditional candles, as these won't start fires, they don't even get warm.

We have a very windy outdoor balcony, and we love our candles. Has always been a problem lighting candles and keeping them from blowing out. These are a great solution. They look nice, but light is a little orange. Expected a whiter light with the modern styling, but they look nice. The flickering does make them seem more like real flame. Very easy to set up and use. Charge lasts a long time.

Update 1/23/13:

While the lights themselves are still working well and still tend to last about 12 hours per charge, I've noticed that the on/off mechanism is starting to require a more ham-fisted approach. At first I could just tip the candle to turn it on & off, but now it requires multiple attempts or a more violent shake. Still a 4-star purchase in my opinion, but I wanted to update to let you know.

There's not much to say about LED candles, so I'll get right to the pros & cons.

PROs

-Induction charging is great. No exposed contacts is always a good thing.

-The charging base and candles look very nice and should fit in with any decor.

CONs

-The light could be brighter. The fake flames seem to give off about 1/2 the lumens of a real flame.

-The light is a bit too orange.

Overall I feel like I bought the highest quality LED candles available at this price.

We were spending too much time and too much payroll on maintaining wax candles in our restaurant. Still, the tables looked lacking without them. I switched to the OXO Candela Glow, which we happily use at home for dinner parties and nightlights. At the restaurant, the Candela looked static and cheap. I ordered two sets of the Philips Imageo and am delighted. They glow with a flickering flame-yellow the movement makes the dining room look lively, even after the last diner has left for the evening. The frosted glass votive lends a little more elegance than the plastic Candela. I'm ordering another set for the restaurant right away.

Update 3/13/13 The 2 I bought are still working fine and have been plugged in since I bought them. They have been in continual use since delivery in 2009.

I purchased this unit after trying many, many, many different types of night lights for elderly parents, one with Alzheimer's. Because my dad has advanced Alzheimer's and we care for him at home it is necessary that we have a night light that turns on and lights well enough for him to get out of bed in the middle of the night and walk safely. This has a night light built in AND a plug in for another stronger lamp to light up the room which triggers along with the sensor.

All of the other night lights I've tried are simply too weak, die too quickly, or have the plugs not face the correct direction in the wall sockets. In frustration I tried this unit and it seems to have alleviated all of those problems.

We rigged it nearer to where he gets out of bed and plugged in a good night lamp that is bright enough to light the room but not bright enough to wake my mother. This unit works perfectly for that. It does have a night light attached but it is not bright enough for my dad which is why the plug in for the lamp on this unit is perfect. This will probably be the last night light I'll have to get since it finally affords the amount of light needed for my father to see well enough to get around his room at night. I am pleased with this and very happy with the results. We've had no incidents with him walking into things at night ever since we got this. Prior to that we had sensor night lights in every socket and not one of those really helped. This is finally something we can count on for his safety.

Update 1/25/2013: The lights are still working perfectly as they were still new. We still keep the lamps plugged in but now they are for mom and I helping change dad at night. He's not been ambulatory or able to control functions any longer but he's still with us and still appears to be running very well (relatively speaking) just like these lights I got and am reviewing and still praising. These lights have been in use every day and night since they arrived in the house years ago. You absolutely cannot go wrong with these based on my experience after buying 2 units.

After some initial confusion re operation parameters, I found the sensor works quite well. I was initially confused because the sensor did not seem to work properly, then I realized it apparently has an ambient light sensor which prevents it from switching on & off when the ambient light is above a certain level (i.e., you can see). The night light is nice and can be folded down if you don't want to use it. I purchased the sensor because my mother is elderly and frequently gets up in the middle of the night. The sensor works quite well turning a light on & off using user preset timer options. Be careful not to buy an "occupancy" sensor unless that is specifically what you want. I wanted something which would turn off the light even when my mother was in the room, but not moving around, and this does the job perfectly.

Motion sensor mechanism will cease to function. Good for paper weight. If you also have an outlet that is controlled by a switch, for shutting power off -it will render this uSwitch useless. It died twice and I have to get replacements.

I bought a dozen of these for outdoor landscape lighting. They are on for about 4 hours a day. And it feels like they are burning out in 60 days. That is not very good. Except the cost is so low, that it probably makes a reasonable trade off.

What a bargain!!!!! Rather than paying the local hardware store $10 for one of these bulbs for my microwave, I got 12 for $5 bucks. After reading the reviews I figured if I replaced it frequently I was still ahead. After 3 months the first one is still working fine and it gets a workout daily. The one thing I did before inserting the bulb was to wipe it clean using acetone to be sure to get all the oils off it.

Must have done something right.

My wife's favorite lamp used these G4-base halogen bulbs, but we've been hard-pressed to find them in our area. The few halogen bulbs we could find were too big, and we'd given up looking. However, these bulbs work a treat! We haven't been using them for long enough to know how well they last, but since you get 12 for just 5 bucks, even if they burn out every few months they'll keep your lamp going for years. Great bargain!

September 15th: after 9 months using one of these bulbs, it's still going strong with no sign of dying. The price has gone up a couple of bucks since I bought them, but they're still a great deal.

I bought this light for my kids' playroom, and I receive compliments on it every time someone new comes to visit. I assigned four stars instead of five only because the final steps of the assembly--attaching all the bulbs and bulb covers--were tedious and frustrating to perform from my awkward perch atop a 10-foot stepladder. It probably took an hour or so just for that, including at least a dozen trips up and down the ladder to retrieve dropped screws. If I had it to do over gain, I would probably ignore the instructions and complete the assembly prior to mounting on the ceiling. I'm dreading the day I have to climb back up to replace a bulb. Until then, however, I love this fixture.

I have been looking for years for the perfect light fixture to put above my kitchen sink. This one is perfect. It is open end, so I can change light bulbs easily, and I don't have to climb a ladder to do it. It uses regular light bulbs instead of specialty bulbs. It uses up to 100 watt bulbs, but I have 60 watt in each side and that is plenty of light. Looks pretty and matches my kitchen faucet. The first one arrived with both globes shattered, but another one arrived within a week and it was ok. Packaging is good, so I assume it was thrown around a lot in delivery. I would highly recommend this item.

Okay, so I really like this lamp. The rosewood has a sort of monastic aesthetic appeal, and the yellowed glow of the bulb through the rice paper is very tranquil. I actually don't own one myself but have given it as a gift to several people, and plan to buy one at the first opportunity. I've examined two or three of these on arrival and all were in perfect condition. Great present. I wish someone would give me one, but I guess I'll have to buy it for myself. ;) Then I will polish it with beeswax and lemon oil. It's that sort of lamp.

I ordered this lamp for my desk a "desk lamp that sits on the floor". The shade sits 60 inches high, which makes it the perfect height for a ~30 inch desk. I suppose you could also use this over a chair as a reading light, or on the side of a sofa, or over a small dining table. Nice design with a combination of curves and right angles... This is a nice looking lamp, except that the wire (not shown in the photograph) hangs down from the widest part of the bended tubular arm behind the lamp. You can tape it to the support, but it looks kind of funky that way.

There are no instructions with the lamp, not required once you figure out where the joints are, which isn't obvious at first.

I must say, by the time I got all of the tape off and the substandard styrofoam crumbled into single little styrofoam balls that got everywhere, I was thoroughly annoyed. That being said, it arrived in good shape, with both boxes including the one with the shade.

Note that the curved arm does not actually attach to the vertical column. It's just levered there.
