This dimmer really did the job for me.

I purchased an old lamp at an antique store, but there were two problems with the lamp: the switch is rather hard to reach, and I don't absolutely trust the wiring... I don't want to leave it plugged in when I'm not around.

This dimmer switch was a great solution to both issues. The lamp plugs right into it. There is a long cord for the dimmer switch, so I can move the switch where I want it while leaving the light stationary. The sliding mechanism on the switch slides smoothly through the dimming cycle, but changes the friction level when it reaches the "off" position, so I know for sure when the power to the lamp is all the way off. Perfect. I can leave my lamp plugged into the switch with no worries about the old wiring.

Two other reviews struck me as a bit off, so I wanted to mention my opinion on each matter raised.

* One reviewer said that the switch has a little light, so she can find it visually when searching for it in her bed linens. The switch I received has no such light. This is actually better for me. Less power consumption, and I'm not one to misplace my switches.

* One reviewer said that you couldn't dim a lamp plugged into the switch all the way down, but that it would go half-bright or more. This is true when turning the switch on: it jumps from full-off to half-bright. But then you can dim it back down to where the lamp is barely glowing.

One other plus to mention: the switch works silently. No loud snaps when you're turning it on or off.

Hope this info has helped.

This product works perfect to control the speed of the Magic wand. Set the massager on the high setting and control the speed with the slide switch.

A great dimmer switch. Very simple to install an works extremely well. My wife has now used it for several months many times a day and she is very happy with the ease of use. The dimmer has very smooth and safe operation.

The only downside is that the switch emits an very low level RF signal that interferes with her radio when it is within an a few inches of the radio. The fix is simple...move the switch away from the radio.

I would highly recommend the Lutron Electronic Plug-in Lamp Dimmer Switch...great product.

Honest reviews on Lutron TT-300H-WH Electronics Plug-In Lamp Dimmer, White

Small compact unit. Dimmer slides smoothly. Has a "full-off" position. Rubber feet on the bottom help keep the dimmer in place. No monitor light

Installation is ridiculously simple, just plugin the dimmer, then plug your lamp plug into the dimmer plug. The dimmer is sufficiently small and light you could attach it to a wall or a piece of furniture with foamy double-sided tape.

I bought two to replace a dimmer unit on an Ikea floor lamp. There are also "in-line" versions of the dimmer, so my choice was whether to buy two "in-line" dimmers, or two plug-in dimmers and two electrical plugs. Leviton 101-P 2 Wire Plug, Light Duty, Polarized, Brown I decided that plugs are easier to install, and if I ever got tired of the floor lamp, I could use the plug-in dimmers on something else.

Besides, the dimmers do not work with compact fluorescent bulbs we are being forced buy (because incandescent bulbs are being outlawed)---so it will be an easy thing to de-install the dimmers if in a few years my antique incandescent bulbs burn out.

The dimmers come in three colors black, brown, and white, in-line or plug-in, and with or without a little red monitor light (diode). The monitor diode doesn't use significant electricity, and makes the switch easy to find in the dark.

When you dim the lights all the way down, be sure to keep going to the "full-off" position, where you will not be using any electricity.

The dimmers are very helpful in extending the life of those precious high-wattage incandescent bulbs which you cannot buy anymore---if you use the dimmers. If you want full light, slide the dimmer to full light slowly (not painfully slowly, but rather a second or two), similarly when you want to turn the light off, dim slowly all the way down, and then continue to the full-off position.

GUIDE TO THE FAMILY OF DIMMERS

This white, plug-in dimmer without a monitor light is TT-300H-WH

TT means "plug in"; "in-line" dimmers are LC

300 is the maximum wattage, the same for all dimmers in the family

H means "without a monitor light", those with monitor lights are "NLH"

WH is white; black are "BL", brown are "BR"

This dimmer is well made, with a good feel to it.

Only issue I have is that the slider is very non-linear at low illumination levels. That is, while it is easy to adjust between half and full brightness, it is very hard to adjust between zero and quarter brightness -which is what I want it for.

Contrary to manufacturer's information, there is no LED to help you find it in the dark.

This lamp gives off an ample amount of light. I use it as a Computer desk lamp and to shed light on model cars I build. It does give off a few light clicks, but that is just when it is first turned on, and is caused by the expanding metals and plastics. It is to be expected with any halogen lamp since they produce a high amount of heat around they bulb. Overall this is the perfect lamp for me.

This is a halogen light, so it gets hot? You should never place a halogen light in a location where it might be dislodged and come into contact with flammable materials.

That said, the light is bright, the clamp is strong, and the price is inexpensive. If you're looking for such a light, you'll probably like this light.

I touched the top of this lamp by accident when moving it just after powering it off and unplugging it and it gave me burns blisters on three finger tips, which hurt like the dickens.

To test the heat I put a plastic baggy on the glass covering the halogen bulb and it melted immediately into a ball. While I know halogens get very, very hot, usually there is a protective cover over the bulb, such as a mesh, that this lamp doesn't have.

This lamp may be suitable to just sit in a corner and get sparse use, but it isn't safe in any active household, especially with children. Further, it might be a fire hazard in general. After all it's made out of Chinese plastic... and I have a grudge against Chinese plastic since I once got chemical burns from a pair of sandals. Off topic, sorry, but it speaks to lack of trustworthyness.

Honest reviews on Normande Lighting GP2-221 15-Inch 40-Watt Halogen Plastic Desk Lamp

This lamp is many steps down in quality from the lamps that I deem are worth buying. If you're buying this for studying because you're a student (college, graduate, medical school, etc.) who needs a good studying lamp, don't waste your $20 on this. This lamp is very orange, very short, very hot, and the red color is unflattering. When you study, you definitely want a full spectrum light or one that uses CFL bulbs since the wattage is much lower, brighter, and your arms and face won't feel like they're burning under the lamp (no exaggeration intended). You also want a lamp that is at least 2ft because you'll soon realize that this lamp gets really close to your literature (below your eye level when you're sitting at a desk) which doesn't help because it's so hot.

Your $20 can be used to buy a desk lamp that's >2ft and uses white lights. Don't waste money when you have a better alternative. Take my advice as someone who studies.

I bought this light hoping to clip it to a table to use for supplemental lighting for macrophotography (along with my ring light). The light is bright (as I expected), the neck moves around, the clip is strong, and it stays where I put it.

Overall, this light is exactly what I expected. Halogen lights are supposed to be bright and hot, so when it was those things, it came as no surprise to me.

This is an excellent energy-efficient desk lamp with adjustable color temperature. It's bright enough to light up a small room at the highest brightness setting. The construction and frame is all plastic but the device is light enough such that this poses no issue.

Light options are iuseful (bright white light, warm light), but light is hard to position due to stand design. Also, the date/time information is hard to program and is very bright (no way to dim). Functional, but the design and documentation could be improved.

I was looking for a piano lamp for YAMAHA U1. House of Troy was recommended by a local dealer, which is not bad. Then I found this very similar item on Amazon.com at a cheaper price. As the style and color met my requirements, I ordered it. The lamp arrived on time and well packaged, and my daughter loves it. A little drawback is the tilting angle is limited, as a result, my daughter finds the light a bit too bright. Except it, the light is warm, and the range covers the book well, and it looks very nice and a perfect for our black YAMAHA U1.

Review of leg lamp 4" tall wine bottle stopper Crated

Customer Ratings:

The stopper is cute... but I was expecting the box to be about the same size.. it isn't. It is HUGE and you open it up and there is this tiny stopper. The box is more than 5 times larger than the stopper. I also didn't realize that it is a flashing stopper. Thought it just lit up. Hoping there is a setting you can pick for just on. Cute idea just badly executed. Was extremely disappointed with how much I spent on something done so badly.

I bought this for my sister and her boyfriend for Christmas, they are big fans of the movie and he knows a lot of the lines, so when he received this in the mail it was a real hit! They also love wine so it does double duty as a conversation piece and a wine stopper.

The leg lamp it's self is great! My brother loved it and plans on putting it in his front window. Don't waste your money on the crated box. You will be disappointed. Balsa wood stapled onto a cardboard box.

I am absolutely satisfied with this purchase. It was all I wanted and it is taller than it appears in the pics but I needed a tall lamp for my space.

I recommed it for a large room. The shade is pretty big!

I saw these lamps on another website for Fifty Dollars more than I got them for on Amazon!!!

Very attractive lamp which looks slightly art deco to me. Excellent source of light takes 2 x 100 watt bulbs. Looks sophisticated. I've given 4 stars rather than 5 because the shade was dented in a few places due to insufficient packaging. This was also the case with the matching floor lamp I bought previously. Fortunately, in both cases, the dents were not too major and only on one side, so you can just turn the shade around, so they're not visible. I'd definitely recommend these lamps they're well packaged (apart from the shade) and arrived promptly too.

Best Deals for Adesso Boulevard Table Lamp, Satin Steel

I bought this lamp because it is large, has two lights and has a very simple, clean design that fits with the rest of my furnishings. I also got a much lower price from Amazon than from the two other places I found it on line.

I would have given this purchase five stars, but the lampshade arrived slightly dinged in a few spots--not badly enough to bother returning (especially considering the discount), but a little disappointing.

Honest reviews on Adesso Boulevard Table Lamp, Satin Steel

It is well made and pretty, but something is wrong with the steel stand, different from what is shown in the instruction. so the bulbs are not totally concealed by the shade when you are standing closer to the lamp. it is also a large lamp.
