I'm a fan of Reveal bulbs because they create a much more pleasing spectrum of light in a room and 'reveal' the colors that were distorted by the over abundance of the yellow spectrum in normal incandescent bulbs. I use them for all of my interior lighting (except for a few halogen floods) and they provide very pleasing 'mid day' light. This is a product that is worth the extra cost because the time you spend in your home (which for most people is a significant chunk!) can be dramatically improved with good lighting. To me its like spending the money to get a good monitor for work.

These 100 watt halogen bulbs are another great reveal bulb. They're also very cost effective since they are rated for 3,000hrs vs. normal bulbs at about 1,000hrs. (The savings is only noticed if you 'shop around' and get these bulbs at a good price point). It also means you don't need to replace your bulbs as much, which is very nice.

These are some great 100-watt bulbs and I recommend them, especially for locations that are a bit harder to reach and making changing out light bulbs a pain.

This is a 100 watt lamp with all the lumens of a regular 100 watt bulb but much more pleasing to the eye. It is NOT to be confused with the "old school" halogens which were usually around 300 watt and caught the room on fire. Almost identical to the regular GE 100 watt reveal bulb (I can't tell the difference though my husband says he can tell a slight difference but likes it even better). Cost is higher than the incandescent but the halogen lasts a lot longer (3,000 hours compared to 750 for the incandescent).

Had four designer bulbs in the bathroom and took one out. Replaced it with one of these and I could actually see how dirty my bathroom was becoming. Had to get out the cleaning products and use some elbow grease. Now I turn this light on and WOW the bathroom is blinding bright.

Bulb throws off a very clear non diffused light. I like it. Throw out those low watt bulbs, especially the curly flourescent bulbs that are worthless. You'll go blind using that light.

The light from these bulbs is very nice, but I've had several of these bulbs fail after a few months due to the heat they produce. I've yet to find a suitable replacement that has the light quality and cost though.

You do get what you pay for ... I chose not to spend $500+ for a good-quality Tiffany-style lamp, so was somewhat disappointed in this piece. The lamp is attractive, but is not as described. You should know that the shade measures only 15" across and is NOT glass but is instead a hard plastic / acrylic. I agree with the reviewer who said the colors are brighter than pictured, but it really depends on the light in the room. (And of course, the brighter colors shine through when the lamp is lit with the max 120 watts with 2 lightbulbs.) The lamp is also NOT "dimmable" as described; a toggle switch on the cord is either on or off. I purchased this as a reading lamp, but will use it as an accent piece; the "blue" light cast is not comfortable for reading. Kudos to Amazon's standard shipping, which I chose instead of free shipping. I ordered the lamp on a Thursday and received it 2 business days later. All that said, this is an attractive lamp, and I have received many compliments on it.

Shade glass was NOT AT ALL as pictured; colors not subdued and sophisticated as on website, but extremely garish. Base looked super-cheap. But that's not the problem;I received an email from the seller suggesting that for the return fees they intended to clobber me with, I should just keep the lamp--THAT is NOT going to happen and I will never make another purchase from these yahoos.

This is a very nice looking lamp. If you are looking for a Tiffany lamp and want something different than dragonflies, this is definitely the way to go. Easily fits 2 energy efficient 60 watt bulbs. Shade covers direct light down to a 90 degree angle, so you can easily sit next to this lamp and read without having direct light in your eyes. Very sturdy and elegant base. May have to decorate our formal living room around this one.

I was looking for a piano lamp for YAMAHA U1. House of Troy was recommended by a local dealer, which is not bad. Then I found this very similar item on Amazon.com at a cheaper price. As the style and color met my requirements, I ordered it. The lamp arrived on time and well packaged, and my daughter loves it. A little drawback is the tilting angle is limited, as a result, my daughter finds the light a bit too bright. Except it, the light is warm, and the range covers the book well, and it looks very nice and a perfect for our black YAMAHA U1.

I almost bought the Softech-natural Light LED Multi-function Desk Lamp White lamp. While searching for the best price I came across this LED lamp.

From the description and photos I thought this lamp was a rebranded Softech DL90 LED Lamp at almost 1/3 the price. I guess I should have known better. A quick look at the dimensions of this lamp and the Softech DL90 show they are exactly the same. Not true, see below. This is what fooled me. I did not look closely enough at the photos to realize there were differences in construction and that this was a different lamp. The description of this lamp and the Softech are very similar.

First the negatives:

Does not have a dimmer function! The description says "Advanced Mood Dimmer allows for multiple levels of Light Color (cold to warm) and brightness"

This lamp does have 4 color temperature settings like the Softech lamp. But there is no dimmer control.

I guess an argument could be made that the 4 color temperature settings also have different apparent brightness levels. The bright white setting appears brighter to the eye than the warm yellow light setting. But my take on the description is that each color temperature is also dimmable. This is not true and might be considered false advertising. At the very least it is misleading advertising.

The vertical riser is fixed. It cannot be tilted forward or back.

Another area of misleading/false advertising are the dimensions of this lamp. It is claimed to be 17.7 inches tall just like the Softech. Actual height is just under 17 inches. The round base is claimed to be 7 inches but is actually 8 inches.

On the plus side:

The light is bright and even.

The arm containing the LED's can be rotated on it's axis, allowing you to throw light to either side.

My Kill A Watt meter shows this lamp draws 4-6 watts depending on the color temperature setting.

Bottom line:

If you can live without the dimmer control and the ability to tilt the vertical riser this lamp appears to be a good deal. Some of the features of the Softech DL90 at nearly 1/3 the price.

And if you want to be able to rotate the LED arm about it's axis, then this might be your lamp.

On the one hand there is no dimmer control, which I was looking forward to. On the other hand the fixed lighting is good and this lamp is almost 1/3 the price of a Softech DL90, which I was considering. Haven't decided yet if I will keep it or send it back. If it goes back it will be due solely to the lack of dimming.

Just received it today, so durability is unknown.

I bought this lamp for my daughter (almost a teenager), and she loves it. She had another one, bigger, without the neon ring, but this one fell down from a table the same day we received it(yes, they are very fragile, and will break in little sharp pieces if they fall down; this lamp is not for small children). She was so sad, that I ordered this one the same day, which is even more fantastic. Both my daughter and I think the size is big enough, just fine. The rays look amazing, with their beautiful colors, and will respond to a loud noise or clap of hands! The neon light looks really nice! This lamp looks as if it was retrieved from high tech lab.

In order to avoid breaking this lamp, my daughter now keeps it in a very low shelf, with the cable to plug it very close to the electrical outlet (so she won't be pulling the lamp off a table inadvertently, which is what happened with the other one).

I am using a pair of them on my kitchen bar. I love them because they are so thin, attractive and unobtrusive visually and physically. If these lights flicker it is a simple adjustment in the base where the cord plugs into. There is a little prong in the base and all you have to do is spread it apart a smidgen and the flickering will go away. It is too bad that these lamps have this problem, but it is a very easy fix. So if you read people complaining about these lights flickering just remember how I told you to fix it. These lights give off is brilliant and attractive light that covers a large work area of a desk or in my case on my kitchen bar. The light makes things look very attractive. It is a very pleasing light. I like the little toggle switch at the base to turn them on and off. Real nice and convenient.

I actually bought this from the Verilux website (sorry Amazon...) but wanted to put in my 2 cents. Although I agree with other reviewers that it seems quite cheaply made, it's handy, lightweight and compact. Plus Verilux lets you return it for a full refund (postage paid) within 30 days if it doesn't work. The woman I spoke to at Verilux said I'd know within the first hour if it would work for me. I've been using it for just a few days, but it helps give me energy and seems to make me happier. Not that I've been depressed really (lots of good things in my life just now). But it's been a dreary winter so far and I was finding myself just dragging around and feeling generally unmotivated and very irritated. PLUS, all I want to do is eat carbs (sugar!) all day. Hence the dreaded holiday/winter weight gain! Since using this lamp, all my symptoms have eased a bit. Which is pretty amazing considering it's nearly Christmas -a hyper stressful time for me and no opportunity to do much exercise! I say try it and see. You've got nothing to lose.

I live in central new york and couldn't stand to be without this in the winter. Have had it for a year now and use it every day, sometimes for hours in the summer I keep it up on top of my fridge to brighten up my dark kitchen, and in the winter it supplies the ambient light for my office. I rarely put it directly in front of me because that would cut down on the time I could use it. So it gets a ton of use, and after a year the original bulbs are still going strong. Also it seems to be far more durable than it looks it has fallen to the floor a couple of times (bad kitty!) and held up perfectly.

I agree with the other reviewers that the lamp is made very cheaply and durability is questionable, but it does have a 3yr. warranty. I was fortunate to buy one when there was a promotion, so basically BOGOF and for that reason kept it at a 5 star rating. If I'd paid $90 a piece, then I would rate it a 3. As for the light, I was amazed at how bright and white it was at the high setting, which I like for my office while working on the computer. I placed the other one on my nightstand and use the lower setting. It's perfect for reading and really seems to give my BR a calming ambience. I haven't used them long enough to determine if it will help w/ the winter blues, but think it might. Also one of its best features is flicker-free illumination without generating EMFs. For those of you that use feng shui, this is very important.

We recently moved to the Pacific Northwest from sunny California and although I had heard a lot about what the weather changes could mean I have to admit that I was skeptical.
