This is one of 5 LED GU10 lights I have tried to see if I can find one to replace the hot, power hungry halogen lights in my home's track lighting. This bulb dims and has a better dimming range than others I've tested meaning that with the dimmer on it's lowest setting this lamp is dimmer than others I've tried. It is still brighter than the halogens on the same dimmer. The light distribution is as good as any other LED bulb I've tried. Again, not as good as the halogens. That said, the two latter factors were good enough for me, but the color of the light just wasn't. LED lights that I've tried are all "whiter" than halogen lights but the others had a reasonably warm look. This LED bulb has a greenish cast that is simply unattractive. Perhaps if they were the only lights in the room it wouldn't be so noticeable. But I'm test with other LEDs and halogens in the same room and the color contrast is enough to make me lower this to my lowest rating of all 5 bulbs tested.

In Phoenix, where the temps can reach 115 degrees in the summer, the last thing we need are light bulbs that generate heat causing our air conditioning to work even harder. While these do generate heat, it is a lot less than the conventional bulbs we replaced in our kitchen light fixtures. The lighting is not as bright as we had but we get along just fine with this.

This was an upgrade from a halogen spot, what a great change! Light is cool, stays white when dimed, and saves a ton of power! You can't go wrong with this lamp.

LED makers on Amazon seriously need to cease from labeling their products as "warm white". This Cree gave off a greenish light, just like so many others. Is it really that difficult to make an LED in a true warm white tone? Or do you have to buy a $34 Phillips? Someone is really missing the boat on this one. I won't pay $34 per bulb, but I'd happily pay over $10 if it actually was dimmable and warm white. If someone out there knows of a bulb of that description, please comment and let me know. I've gone through dozens. The closest I've found is the 5W Lighting Forever GU10. Unfortunately, it's not dimmable. Their dimmable bulb, the a 7W, suffers from the same greenish tones that so many others do.

This is a little ball (maybe 4" or so in diameter) with one side open and a ceramic socket for a medium based bulb in the opening. There is a "baffle" (stair step looking thing) around the opening like you would see on most can lights, the purpose of which I believe is to reduce glare. The ball is separate from the base, connected only with the power cord that runs from the ball through the base.

The base is a bent sheet of light gauge metal (steel I assume) with a hole cut in it. The hole has a rubber insert to separate the metal of the base from the metal of the ball.

Aiming the light is achieved by turning the ball however you want, freely, in the hole. The only limitation is the cord between ball and base. I'm pretty sure any combination is achievable so it should work for any spot you need to shine on any other spot.

It's all feels very solid and well constructed. Looks very nice and wouldn't seem out of place in most settings.

If you look at the brushed stainless one there the picture shows it with a bulb. A medium based incandescent light bulb sticks out so that end of the bulb is about flush with the edge of the opening in the ball. If using a medium based ccfl the tip of that sticks out beyond the ball. This results in a very wide "spot light" that is pretty much 180 degrees.

For my purposes it is way too wide of a light pattern and not what I was expecting at all. Other than the fact that it's not a "spot" in my terms, it's a pretty cool little light. I'm planning on keeping it and trying to work it in somewhere because it's pretty slick.

I bought this to use instead of a floor lamp because I just think floor laps look awkward and top heavy. I wanted this to go behind my couch that I have angled in a corner. I didn't read the dimensions, but this is MUCH SMALLER than it looks in the picture. I ended up using it on a sofa table to accent some framed pictures that I have. It also gets VERY HOT so I am afraid to leave it on long. I only flip it on when I have company. I was very happy with the price, this was the least expensive that I could find it but not sure it is still worth it. As an accent light, very nice. As a light for lighting a room not so good.

While the power cable does make it harder to position the light, I was able to get them all positioned for my needs. I have a living room with a vaulted ceiling that I wanted to bounce the lights off of. I'd purchased 4 of these and have them sitting on top of bookcases. For me this has been an ideal solution.

Maybe I was trying to get too creative with the lighting in my room... and after viewing several photos not only on Amazon, I felt deceived regarding the actual size of the spotlight. These are not really effective for true lighting... but more add ambiance to a room. I had intended to use two of these to light up my room, but for the light to actually be bright enough, the bulb sticks so far out, it takes away from the modern look I was trying to achieve. They are about the size of a grapefruit to give you some perspective. I will use them.. just as I said to add ambiance to a dinner party or get together at my place... nothing more..

And that being said I continue my quest for the perfect light for my room...

The lighting was great and effective. The product is strong and is well made. It does not have a suggested wattage for the light, which was unfortunate bu we figured it out. Low wattage=better results. Overall though, very satisfied.

I ordered this lamp because I was looking for something unique for my desk. The lamp came well packaged and in perfect working order. The lights adjust in different directions so they provide a variety of focal points. The only reason I did not give this lamp 5 stars is because the halogen bulbs that came with the lamp cast a yellowish light. I was hoping that the light would be more clear as some of my halogens have been in the past. I intend on looking for some replacement bulbs that have a more natural light. I would recommend this lamp to anyone who doesn't need a lot of light but wants to add a touch whimsy to their decor.

I needed a lamp for my computer desk that would not take up too much space on the desk and also would give just as much light as I need to see the screen and the keyboard (I have the computer in the bedroom, and either I or my husband use it sometimes when the other one of us sleeps). Well, I have to say that this lamp does just that. A spotty light, very pleasant design, the light is bright enough to see all I need yet not too bright to hurt my eyes. This is a really good lamp. The lamp head can be brought closely over the shoulder and the beam spread is small so the rest of the room is dark. Base is heave so it does not fall over. Easy touch switch so can control from your pillow. Good lamp for the price.

These lamps take a little time to get your own print in between the two layers, but once you get it in, it's easy to re-assemble. My first one did not stand up perfectly straight, and I had to force it a bit to look nice. The other two seemed fine.

The blue light through the fibers is plenty light in a dark room. Of course I wish there were more fibers, and perhaps there are other lamps available with more, but this one works fine. It is battery operated, and thus it is mobile, which is a good idea if you have kids who like to wave it around and play with it. The bottom-heavy stand keeps it upright. So far, none of the fibers have become bent or tangled. Recommended.

I bought this as an xmas gift for my little brother who has downs syndrome. This light is a very nice blue color and the base is fairly heavy which holds it in place. The fiber-optic strands themselves slip out of the base very easily, which could be an issue for some people. My brother liked it well enough, he likes LED stuff. I think my dad and I spent more time playing with it though, haha.

This light takes 3 AA batteries, and I can't report on the battery life but I've heard no complaints so far.

I re-did my sons ( 8 yrs old) room during last Christmas holiday ...I wanted a light source at night that would provide muted illumination and be attractive and entertain his friends a bit... he loves this thing! And so do I. The light is stimulating yet relaxing. The fibers slowly sway & dance as the air moves around them... It gives off such a "calming" effect. I am going to order two more---one for the guest and master bedrooms. The lamp takes three "AA" batteries and they last---as long a you do NOT forget to turn the lamp off in the morning.

I would definitely recommend this product to a friend.

These like all touch dimmers that plug in between the lamp and the wall, are so simple to install. Just plug it in and touch the metal part of the lamp. But this brand has some very annoying features....

I had a friend give me a few touch dimmers as a gift, but another brand. I liked the feature so much, I came here and bought 5 of the Westek's. 4 out of 5 had such annoying problems, that we went back to the lamp itself. For instance, they would turn on by themselves, they would change the dimmer setting when you walk by the lamp. They would turn on during any lightning storm. It was really annoying to come home, or downstairs in the morning to a number of lamps turned on. It was also so sensitive that you would sometimes have to cycle thru the touches to get the right setting, since it would keep going.

I love the feature but this brand is useless. I recommend the "Touch and Glow" brand. They work just how you would want them too. It's too bad it's not carried on Amazon in this configuration.

I have bought $35 Westek touch dimmers that have worked great for about 5 years, then I must buy another. I have moved, so this time I looked to Amazon for a replacement. I didn't find the exact one I have used before, but thought I would try this one, a little leery of the cheap price and the 3 reviews that said they didn't work. Well, mine didn't work in any of the three lamps I tried it with. So back it goes. First time I have ever returned something to Amazon and glad they make it so easy.

It works fine as long as it is firmly plugged in. If it is jostled even the slightest bit, it does not function properly until the plug is readjusted. I found that bending the tines slightly outward helps significantly, but you must take care not to break the plastic housing.

The manufacture of this light has some quality control issues. There are small holes/pits that can be clearly seen on each of the three shades. I suppose they were left from the mold injection process, but they should be polished away. I also have one nut missing from the box. Called Amazon to get a replacement but still have the same problem with the shade. Don't buy this light if you are attentive to details.

BTW, the shade looks old, rusty, or antique-like during daytime.

I have cherry cabinets in my kitchen/dining area and thought this would look good. I was wrong it looks wonderful! The oiled bronze finish is perfect. The down lights are great and add the perfect soft lighting I was looking for. This light looks gorgeous when you turn it on at night. I have it on a dimmer switch so I can create any type of lighting situation. Very easy to install. Only hard part was weaving the wiring in and out of the chain links to "hide" the wire. I've received many "wow's" when folks see it for the first time. Am super happy with this purchase.
