First, let me start by saying I was excited to receive this lamp. I thought it would be cool, hip, and look fabulous in my new living room. However, that excitement quickly turned to disappointment as I started to assemble it ... and yes, it was exactly according to the directions given. Not to mention, if you look at it the wrong way, it scratches very easily. Also, good luck trying to put the base on ... if you don't experience total frustration, I will be surprised. Also, if you haven't scratched it up thus far, you will now. Once I stood it up vertically, it looks nice but don't touch it unless you have to. It's very wobbly. Yey. Not worth the $150.00 but maybe just $.50. Ugh.

I bought two of these, and I will say up front that they are sturdy and gorgeous. The one complaint involves the assembly process. It is difficult to attach the legs to the base. My son and I tried for an hour, then gave up. I finished the next night with another person's help. There is some sort of washer that doesn't fit around the bolt as well as it should, and the nut is difficult to thread onto the bolt. Sounds like it should be easy, I know, but it took a while. Here's a tip -you'll have to hold the lamp upside down to even attempt to attach the base, hence the need for two people. Again -these are really nice lamps, just have a friend ready and willing to help you with assembly.

The finished product is sturdy, stylish and a good value. Getting there requires patience and fune-tuning. As a veteran of dozens of difficult builds (Scandinavian furniture to elliptical machines), I've seen it all. This is a pretty straight-forward assembly. It can almost be done without reading the instructions. The primary frustration comes with attaching the lower supports to the base. This requires a few minutes of adjusting rods within the supports. The length of these rods is accomplished by simple righty-tighty, lefty-loosey adjustments. More lefty-loosey is needed to get the rods to pass thru the base in order to attach the securing washers/nuts. That's a little time-consuming, but my main beef is if you're not careful, you'll scratch-up the base while tweaking the rods and trying to get them in the base. My suggestion is to put masking tape around the base holes until everything has been bolted together. Once assembled, this lamp looks really sharp.

I have to agree and disagree with the previous reviewer. Yes, this item takes a bit of work to put together and even after, I noticed that it wobbled. However, I recently went to work on it again and tightened a loose bolt in the base and it is better than ever. The lamp is solid and quite beautiful. I have both the floor and desk version and they look great. Be patient, tighten everything well and you'll be rewarded.

We needed to buy a bunch of small reading lights at our theater (for rehearsals, stage managers, etc) and so I ordered one of each of the top models I found here on Amazon. This one was the hands-down winner. It's great that you can clip it to any book (super strong clip) or use it on a table (the batteries act as a perfect counterweight). The smaller models didn't have nearly the same lamp life as this one. And the flexible gooseneck is awesome. I still have all the other test models kicking around but this is the one I use -great for camping trips too!!

This changes everything! After years of nighttime disputes when one of us wanted to turn off the light to go to sleep while the other wanted to keep reading, the Light Boss saves the day. I really like that you can clip it to the book or rest it on the nightstand, and that the dual light settings mean you only use as much light as the situation requires. It's lightweight, and so would be easy to pack for travelling (I'm bringing mine camping), and the LED light is strong yet not harsh.

Purchased this item and Woods 13568. This is a single control unit that has a higher voltage and wattage ratings than the 13568 necessary for larger electrical items you may want to control. Out of the box my unit operated OK up to about 15 feet. Following one review I opened the unit, took the coiled antenna and wound it around the inside perimeter of the device. Now it worked up to about 20 feet. So I got brave, drilled a small hole, and pulled most of the antenna outside. Now I got a range of about 30 feet. Finally, I hooked about 50 feet of wire to the end of the antenna. Now I get a range of nearly 100 feet. A note to the manufacturer: How hard would it be to add a terminal for an optional extra antenna?

Two notes: If weather is an issue seal the hole; I don't believe that adding antenna length to a RECEIVER violates any FCC regulations.

I bought this so I could easily turn on the pump for my backyard waterfall. The pump had been plugged into an outdoor outlet, and I'd had to squeeze between the edge of the lower pool and the bushes, being careful not to dislodge any of the decorative rocks. The Woods outlet plugs into the one on the house wall, then the pump plugs into it. The handy keychain remote turns the power on and off. Works like a charm, even from inside the house.

I've seen other, more expensive products that serve this purpose they have more features. But this one does the only thing I need it to do, and it was inexpensive.

Firstly, the lamp is stylish and efficient looking with a black matte finish base and tubular gunmetal brushed stainless curved arm. The shade is a frosted plastic, lightweight enough to keep from tipping easily.

The LED light has a 250 lumen output which is comparable to a 40-watt light, however, because the light stream is concentrated, it appears brighter. I design jewelry and have been using a goose neck lamp with a 60-watt incandescent bulb; the Energizer Task Light is brighter and better. The color of the light is a pleasing neutral, midway between the yellowish color of an incandescent bulb and the blue of fluorescent light. Even better, the light uses a fraction of the wattage of an incandescent bulb.

While the neck is stationary, the shade can move for best positioning at the work station. The base has a small footprint that leaves maximum space for work projects and at 19 inches high, it stands tall enough to be out of the way for close work. Also, there is a high-low brightness setting. Add this functionality to the sleek design and you have a alight that is useful and looks good anywhere. Of added importance is the six-foot cord has a standard plug which doesn't take up extra space if used in a power strip. The Energizer LED Task Light receives top ratings from this reviewer.

After little more than a month the LED in my light got very dim and finally quit working. It said on the brochure that the LED never needs replaced. This worked great while it worked but, for the price it shouldn't have quit this soon! Perhaps I received a faulty one, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Original review: This task light is sleek and small enough that it will fit in the smallest of spaces. I use mine for reading, writing. clipping coupons and numerous other tasks that I want to see details. I was very surprised by the amount of light that this LED light puts out. When I looked at the size of the LED I didn't think it would put out that much light. It's really quite nice. I also like the way the lamp is arched, it makes it a great reading light as, you can shine it directly onto your book.

The only thing I didn't like about this lamp is that it's a bit difficult to move the LED head exactly where you want it, say you want to move it a fourth of an inchI found it was hard to tilt up and down in small amounts.

Other than that, it's a great light.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Even tho the ENERGIZER HOUSEHOLD LED TASK LIGHT is marketed as a "work Light", I've found the styling and design makes it look great in my "library". The arc on that crome arm that holds the light, has the grace and simplicity I enjoy in industrial design. As for the dual wattage LED light, its perfect. For one thing, it gives you the two wattages most needed in this type of lamp. The lower setting is about 35 watts, great for reading, or mood. The higher setting appears to be about 50 watts, so if you are drawing, painting, or building seven robot brides for seven robot brothers, you'll see what you are doing. The LED light is marketed as being PURE WHITE, whereas incadescent bulbs tend to be yellowish, and florescent bulbs have blue/green overtones. When creating art in color, LED light illuminates a piece without changing its color characteristics.

The HEAD swivels omnidirectionally, so if you need a spot directed somewhere, this works really well. I cant count how many times I've lit my face, or someone else's face, to draw a portrayt, and couldnt get the light to hit exactly where I needed it. This light can solve that problem. Also, unlike when you have a bright incadescent light near a painting for ultra detail work, you cant burn your arm on an LED light bulb. (I did that, and still have the scar.) One of the best qualities of an LED lamp is ITS LOW CARBON FOOTPRINT. No electricity is wasted creating heat, so you save money over other lighting options. Without a doubt, florescent corkscrew bulbs are a transitory light source, until LED lights becomes the norm. Unlike those corkscrew bulbs, LEDs generate no hazards in disposal. In the next few years, you'll be seeing these types of lamps everywhere. I'm totally happy with this light, both for reading, and for artwork.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is one of the best designed desk lamps that I came across in a long time. If you are looking for a good desk/task lamp, consider this product.

1. DESIGN: The lamp is tall (from base to the top is about 19"). This is excellent if you are reading over a big book, working on model (planes/toys) or using a big laptop. Also because the neck is curved out, you will have an ample room for you to work without hitting the lamp. The neck is also stationary, that is, it is not adjustable. In my opinion, this is a good thing. I had one lamp that had an adjustable neck, and it always cave down. So this is an excellent design.

2. STURDINESS: The whole lamp screams "quality." The base is heavy and very solid, the neck is metallic and sturdy. The lamp casing is also made of high quality & thick plastic. The large base doesn't wobble because of its heaviness. The head of the lamp moves up and down without being loose, so it stays on its position.

3. LIGHT: The lamp has 2 settings Low and High. "Low" setting is good enough brightness to do almost anything that does not require intensity of light (ie, reading, using a laptop, etc). The "High" setting is good for if you are working on model toys and planes. I for one, found high setting very useful as I disassemble and reassemble a notebook to fix things and there are many small parts in the notebook.

All in all, the design is beautiful attractive, and practical. The quality is top notch. And the light setting is very useful for everything that you do on your desk. Highly, highly recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of light this lamp puts out. It's not overly radiant, it keeps the focus tight on your work area, and the clean white shade is ideal for most tasks. The lamp itself is stylish and modern, I think it would work with most modern office spaces. It certainly looks great on my computer desk.

My major gripes with it are that the neck isn't adjustable and that the base/shade are made of plastic instead of something more substantial. They should've been for the cost, but since it's an LED light, you'd be paying a higher price anyways.

Pricey for what it is, but it works.

While I love the light part (the actual output), and own both a tabletop and this one, I hate the construction. I had an intermittent issue and decided to trace the wires from plug in-to light bulb. I found that every solder joint was very sloppy, and very close to shorting or breaking off. The bulb plugs into a socket that has a push in arrangement for the wire connections. (common in these kinds of things.) In order to push the wire in, which is stranded wire, you must solder the tip of it, about 1/8 in, or 3mm or so, and that gets pushed in. There is a black wire and a white wire, hot and neutral. The white wire was plugged in from where the wire was stripped of insulation, soldered, and it was pushed in to the insulation. (as its supposed to) The black wire had approx 1/2-3/4 inch of wire bare wire, all soldered, sticking into this connector designed for about 1/4 inch of wire. That means about 1/4-1/2 in of bare wire was sticking out very close to the switch, the metal reflector, and other wires. I pulled it out, snipped off about 2/3 of it, plugged it back into the connector, and my problem went away. This is just pathetic, sloppy, and very poor craftsmanship. In fact, it isn't craftsmanship, its very sloppy assembly by obviously UNTRAINED and UNSKILLED workers. There is no way to dispute that. Anyone with any care and skill would not let that go, they would know its a shock/fire/lamp wont work issue. Do a search for an ott lite 18w ballast and you will see dozens of frustrated customers. COME ON OTT. They dont sell the part, the part is not available or hard to find (if you need a ballast). For all I know the lousy manufacturing contributes to the ballast failures. OTT SEND THE CUSTOMERS A BALLAST. Start manufacturing the lights properly or get the price down to the 19-29$ range we would expect this. In the prices of your lamps, I expect exceptionally well made, well designed lamps, not what I got.

I should have paid more attention to the other reviews. The lamp worked great for a couple of months. Now it gives a flicker and then NOTHING when you turn it on. Acts much as a fluorescent light does when the ballast goes. The lamp has not been used often enough to be burnt out haven't had it on more than a half dozen times. The light itself was good, but this is absolutely worthless. I'm very disappointed and will certainly not recommend Ott Lite.

Called Customer Service; they asked if I always keep lamps plugged in, I replied yes,the rep replied that was the problem. I believe the manufactures knows this model has defective systemic problems. They should have had a recall, but it can't kill you so throwing it out is a better solution. I suggest anyone with the same problem notify your better business bureau and your state attorney general; selling a product that is defective is, in my opinion, a crime.

I bought this lamp so that I could use it as a desk lamp. Very flexible and simple looking. No wow factor, but does what it's supposed to do well. I stand it next to my desk and project the light over my monitors. I still get some glare off my work on my desk but it's very minimal. I'd buy it again and, in fact, when the bulb goes out, which I hope it's not for a long time, I'll buy the replacement.

This inexpensive lamp contains an Ott light. Ott did the first experiments on wavelengths of light and deprivation. It turns out that lack of certain wavelengths can cause deformities in different animals and plants.

The expensive bulb in this lamp is a full spectrum bulb. It is very healthy for you and your pets. Well worth the expense. Well.... my parrot loves to sit on the arm of my chair when I turn this light on.

If you are not out in the winter this may help with SAD.

This lamp is certainly the worst product I've ever bought off Amazon. Enough to make me write my first review.

The black plastic ring between the back and the shade doesn't attach properly. I took it off. The black plastic on the arm of the lamp is conduit, and it's not attached at either the top or the bottom, so it looks hideous. So I cut it off.

The switch is a hemisphere on the back of the lamp. It feels very flimsy. This switch can only be turned clockwise to switch the lamp on / off. On the second day of having this, I reached up from my bed and turned it counter-clockwise by mistake. It completely broke the lamp. I figured it couldn't be that hard to fix, so I opened it up and the rotary switch had two tiny plastic tabs which had snapped off. Because I'm an idiot, I'd already thrown out the box, so I couldn't return it. I soldered the connectors together so that the lamp would at least work, but now it's always on. To solve that I just bought a outlet switch to turn it on and off.

The one plus side is that a bulb is actually included, which saves you a couple dollars. Except when I went to the hardware store today to buy the outlet switch, I found this exact lamp for $12.
