This is a pretty cool lamp. Use it for a night light in the front room. Only glitch is, the description says it has an Amber color shell. ( We had one before and it was Amber color ) This guy arrived with an Orange color shell. No big deal, but seller should state the "real" shade.

I have had this lamp for years now. It works great as a night light and was perfect in my son's room when he was a newborn, creating enough light for me to feed or change him, but it wasn't jarring like a regular lamp, giving off a really nice warm glow. My son is almost four now and uses it nightly in his room to go to sleep. We have moved over 10 times and it has never broken and I have only had to replace the bulb once. Sorry to hear the other reviewer had two break, but we have honestly never had a problem.

Light arrived a couple of days ago. It looked complicated..as to mounting. It was. It so happened that I was having some other electrical work done. In their off-time, they agreed to mount fixture. Now we are talking about licensed electrician's. It took the worker about an hour to complete.

Today..I painted out the removed ugly fluorescent..the end result is wonderful ..mounted just above a very small dining table. The recommended 100-watt bulb would be overwhelming. Have a 60-watt and still too bright. 40-watt bulb is on order. Even then..a dimmer would be something to keep in mind. One other notation is fixtures bottom trim ring...the only thing holding it in place is gravity. A clip would be recommended.

Otherwise..a beautiful lighting fixture that is going to give pleasure for a long time.

Really fantastic. Very classy looking. The parts are well made and sturdy. I was so happy with this I ordered a second one and then tried to order a third one and found out they have been discontinued by the manufacturer. I ordered a similar product from the same manufacturer through amazon and the parts have been replaced by cheaper parts and you get less chain and no frills.

Its a nice little lamp for the cost. Comes with a very long chain I'd say 7-8 ft. Also includes a matching cover that goes over the electrical box in the ceiling that the lamp hangs from. The wire is the same as you'd find in a modern exstension cord and i actually put a plug on the end of it and have it plugged into the wall. They include even more wire than chain so I didn't have to add any cord. Also note that the brown parts of the lamp are actually metal not wood as they appear but looks very realistic.

The only thing i didn't like about the light is the brown ring on the bottom of the glass is seperate. It just sits in place and took me awhile to get it perfectly straight.

The lights are very easy to install, put out a decent amount of light (using Toshiba LED bulbs) and look nice. The downside is the base appears to be made of cheap stamped metal and while good looking the nickel pieces that hold the glass in place are mounted on very thin metal that could bend easily. Of the 3 units I bought (2, 12inch and 1, 16 inch) each unit had one of the three glass holders that had to be forced with pliers to be turned allowing the glass to be mounted to the light. Had I not put in LED bulbs with 20 year expected life I would be nervous about breaking the one "sticky" glass holder on each unit. All in all it is a good looking decent light but I would be cautious if I had to change the bulbs regularly.

Absolutely love this lamp. I took it to work and it brightens my world.

The base is surprisingly large and really does hold scissors, pens, post-its, paperclips.

The two prong electric outlet is SO handy. Of course, where do they put all the electric outlets in a cubicle? Under the desk, where you have to crawl around in the dust to get to an outlet. This is perfect~ I can plug my small desk fan in or use it to charge my iPhone.

Brightens my world. Wish there were more colors. This really a great price for an excellent product, well thought out and designed for multiple uses, whether at home with makeup, nailpolish, etc, sewing excessories, you name it, it will work.

I was looking for a simple lamp for my night stand that would make it obvious that side of the room is MINE. So when I saw they had one in pink, AND that it had an outlet, I ordered it.

PROS:

Organizing compartments for pens, nail files, scissors, etc (it rotates so you can have your favorite compartment on whichever side you prefer)

You don't lose an outlet because it has one right on it

Cord has nice length

Girly color

CONS: none

I can imagine people thinking, "why does the outlet only have 2 slots?" and I can't say for sure, but I have the feeling it is a safety feature. You wouldn't want to plug in a big appliance through the lamp (cause then you would be bypassing the built-in safety provided by the in-wall outlet). In my case, I bought it thinking I could charge my phone, and that's exactly what I'm doing so, awesome!

Would buy another one if I they had it in a not-so-girly color as well.

My wife was excited to received two of these lamps for our bedroom. I assembled the first one and stood back to see how it look and realized the glass post slanted just a bit. I assembled the second one and when shade was screwed in, the shade slanted quite a bit. The shade was leveled if I didn't screwed it into place all the way. These sconces are very sleek and modern. However, you can not see from the picture the entire thing. The side of the scone is made of a wholly metal. Picture a white netted sports jersey, and this is the side of the sconce only in metal. For my purpose this does not bother me as it will not really affect the over all decor i was looking for. I say "cute" because 14 inches is not big for a lamp. But it is nicely constructed enough that my kids could knock it over within the first 2 days I owned it without it sustaining much damage. The base design is a tasteful open urn with iron scroll work. The lamp is small enough to be used in a variety of locations, yet it provides just the right amount of soft light for reading. Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This 60-watt (13-watt CFL) lamp was a hassle to set up. See that long scroll-work base? The cord runs through the inside of it, and the bulb seat unit arrives hanging like a dead fish off the top end of the cord. You have to pull the cord through the bottom of the base to screw in the bulb seat unit at the top. Twist, twist, twist, goes the cord inside the base. Not only that, the bulb seat unit at the top wouldn't screw all the way down without coating it with paraffin first. But at least the cord itself is short!

This made-in-China lamp has pretensions to elegance that it doesn't deserve. But it is a nicely compact, lightweight, and attractive lamp. Visualizing that twisted cord inside the base continues to bother me, however.

June 2013 update: The design lines are clean, and the annoyance of the set-up has faded. This has been a reliable lamp with a compact footprint for the top of our stereo speakers, and it works fine. Upping my review from 3 to 4 stars ...

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a lovely little lamp. It is not clear from the photograph how big this lamp is. The overall height is 19". The lampshade at its widest point is 11". The diameter of the base is 4". The color is a smooth, matte finish dark over metal that looks almost purple with the light casting on it. It has a very flexible look that can fit in many types of decor. The shade is a linen type fabric, and the interior of the shade is also lined so it has a nice high quality look to it. I have a 60 watt bulb in it now. We don't use it a lot, but it sits next to our keyboard piano for when my daughter needs the additional light to play.

The on/off switch is a horizontal straight "pin" that goes through the middle of the top of the metal part of the lamp. I prefer this over the wheel switch on the cord, because it's just easier to locate. Overall a nice light fixture and at a reasonable price.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I got this lamp to put on my bedroom night stand. It's so perfect for that. It looks really pretty there, and I love the elegant design of the base. It's heavy enough to not tip over easily, which is awesome, and it's very easy to turn on & off. I like the larger size of the lamp shade on it because it seems to disperse the light better than the cheap little lamp I have been using previously (which has a similar design but is considerably smaller). This is excellent for night time reading or crosswords, as it's not super bright to make you feel too awake, but not too dim to keep you from seeing what you are doing. I think this also would be a pretty accent lamp in a living room, or perhaps even as a lamp in a guest bedroom. I love the way it looks, and it works great too. I definitely recommend this lamp! :)

This lamp is really cool. It's not huge and not small, really great proportions. I have it on a timer so it goes on at night to light my office. Really fun. I would have given this 5 stars, except the bulb burned out and there aren't factory replacements. Kind of a bummer. I did find something that would fit (a Satco 40-watt/120v Candelabra Base Model #S3847 Satco S3847 120V Candelabra Base 40-Watt G12.5 Light Bulb, Clear). I works the lava correctly, but it's not bright enough to have the wax color come through (looks black). I would wait to buy this until the vendor's site has replacement bulbs available.

My four year old simply loves this lamp, as do we. Build quality is fantastic and looks amazing lit-up. Its aluminium construction and size are what makes this rocket shaped lava-lamp stand out from all the cheaper versions around. I would highly recommend this to anyone. If buy from overseas (as I did) make sure you check the bulb to see that it's installed correctly before turning on. The bulb that came with my unit was 240v compatible but installed slightly off-skew and burnt out within a couple of minutes, easy fix with a replacement bulb. I also removed the lower portion of the power cable (switch to socket) and replaced it with an Australian version for simpler and adapter-free usage.
