We bought this lamp thinking it was just a beautiful design of varying shades of blue. That is what the photo showed. It is actually a much more multi-colored design of six gold/green/blue mallard ducks flying up from a patch of green reeds and red catttails, with blue lake, mountains and sky in the background. Very colorful. Very sturdy base. And I like ducks. Just not on a tiffany-style lamp. But we will find a place for it. And if you position the shade just so, you don't see the ducks right away. Please get a better photo.

I do not recommend this poorly designed desk lamp. The clamps that are supposed to hold the arms, and the lamp itself, are too weak and under-designed... so the lamp won't stay in position.

The magnifying lens is of poor optical quality. small objects being magnified need to be moved around in order to find an area of glass without distortions and aberrations.

The black plastic lamp enclosure, when warm from use, causes a white powdery film to appear on it's exterior. Looks like some chemical in the plastic is "cooking out" from the warmth of the bulb in normal operation. I continuously clean the lamp housing, but it just keeps coming back.

A definite NO on this lamp.

The price is cheap, and so is the lamp...

The lamp is inexpensive as I expected. After all I didnt pay much for it.

It works very well mounted on my work bench. I like the adjustable flexible arm.

Very handy magnifying glass for my old eyes.

I found it works best by mounting it permanent with screws once I figured where I wanted it.

Invaluable for working with small parts or trying to read instructions.

This lamp is not quite one would want on the desk. The reason I bought this lamp was because I was looking for two things.

1. Obviously good light on my desk

2. I like scratch-boarding. For those who don't know what this is, it is a form of art where you scratch fine lines into a board of clay or foil, coated with a black ink. Here is more on it, if you like to look it up . Well that said, I was looking for something that would magnify the etching since I did not want to spoil my eyesight.

Pros:

1. The concept is nice but several others have implemented it.

Cons:

1. The lens does not really perform to expectation. In fact, one has to squint into it and move one's head to focus. Otherwise, fine detail gets distorted and causes strain on the eyes.

2. The screws, rivets, and nuts to tighten the arms into position are weak. So weak that due to the weight of the lamp head, the top arm folds back or falls on the table top. One thing that is really bad about this lamp is that the adjusting screws and knobs are of inferior quality and do not hold the lamp up at all.

Even though the price is attractive, I would highly recommend that you save another $20 and buy something that you will be able to use without much grief.

The only reason I'm giving this product more than 1 star is because at least they do not charge much for it. I'm going to see if the vendor will accept the product back and pay shipping for the return. Otherwise I'm going to reevaluate my options and I'll surely end up buying another lamp.

Incredible price and very easy to put up in our baby's bird themed room. Would have preferred if the "trunk" was a bit bigger as it has to be strategically hidden by furniture, otherwise the tree would be floating off the baseboards.

The stickers do not stick to the wall. The decal comes with several stickers that need to be put together in sections. As i was placing each sticker, the others that i had just placed began to unstick. Within a couple of hours, several of the bird stickers were on the floor or barely hanging on the wall. The image was adorable but i had to remove the stickers left on the wall and throw them out the next day. Not worth buying unless you plan to use some sort of glue to have them stick.

I bought two of these and the color is a deep amber graduating to a dusty amethyst. The light glowing through them is just so warm and beautiful! Make sure you check the sizes though, because they do not fit the bedside lamp I bought them for, they are a little big (my own fault for not doing my research). However, I quickly found another lamp to fit these lovelies!

The lights are very easy to install, put out a decent amount of light (using Toshiba LED bulbs) and look nice. The downside is the base appears to be made of cheap stamped metal and while good looking the nickel pieces that hold the glass in place are mounted on very thin metal that could bend easily. Of the 3 units I bought (2, 12inch and 1, 16 inch) each unit had one of the three glass holders that had to be forced with pliers to be turned allowing the glass to be mounted to the light. Had I not put in LED bulbs with 20 year expected life I would be nervous about breaking the one "sticky" glass holder on each unit. All in all it is a good looking decent light but I would be cautious if I had to change the bulbs regularly.

This "clamp on" lamp features an idiotic clamp designa curved "L" shaped bolt that slips into the plastic base of the lamp. The problem with this design is that if the weight of the lamp is slightly off centersay if you want to extend it or rotate it around, thus rocking ityou will unavoidably cause the entire clamp assembly to fall apart and the lamp will come crashing down. For $20 it's not worth sending back, but if I had it to do over again I would definitely NOT buy this lamp.

I love this lamp, yeah the clamp is worthless but you don't have to use it. The base has four screw holes in it so you can permanently attach it to the desk if you want. I have a cheap Ikea computer desk and screwed it to the top shelf. I can move it anywhere I want with the long arm and get plenty of light. It even came with a 23w CFL bulb which is the brightest I've ever owned. It gives off as much as a 100w incandescent bulb without the heat. I had an old one of these lamps with plastic parts which kept breaking off and I'd have to improvise parts to keep it working. This lamp comes with metal parts that will not be breaking anytime soon.

So bottom line, if you don't mind screwing the lamp to the desk top this is a great lamp for the money. If that is not an option for you don't buy it, the clamp will not suffice in holding it up.

February 24, 2013.... still love this lamp. Using the same bulb and looks and works like it is right out of the box. I use it 10 hours a day six days a week and it is great!

Base made of plastic cracks under pressure; very hard to secure on desk. Replaced with metal base from old lamp, now very secure. Plastic adjustment screw on lamp shade could not be tightened, replaced with metal screw from old unit. One good feature with this lamp unlike older units, it uses a 100 watt bulb; older units maximum 60 watts. After above mentioned changers works fine.

I have a similar Alvin swing lamp and thought it was the same product under a different brand. I wanted it in red, so I decided to get the Litesource one. I was mistaken. It looks like the same lamp but the quality is much worse. The clamp design is very bad on all lamps of this type, but this one is made of apparently an even worse plastic and part of it was cracked and snapped off as I was taking it out of the box. The pins that hold the tension rods are made of metal on the Alvin lamp, but here they are made from a plastic that bends and looks like it is about to snap off (and release a spring into someone's eye!) One of the springs came off in the box because of that. The switch cover does not stay in place. Etc. Too bad I liked the red color, but I am getting a refund.

I like the light, but the clamp component is small and doesn't stay tight. When trying to swing the arm, the whole clamp swings sometimes. I think it was overpriced for the clamp trouble I have had. For the money spent, I expected it all to work well. Also, the clamp size is limited to slender table tops. It's unstable if it's open wide. I wished I would have just gotten a table top model as this has proved to be a bit annoying.

I was a bit disappointed in how short this lamp was. I used the bulb recommended yet it doesn't illuminate very well, so keep that in mind if you want it for reading. That said, it is very cute!

The lampshade is one you can get at any home improvement store for $19.99. Just an over-priced piece of crap. That these retailers get away with selling this junk just infuriates me. I purchased this table lamp in 2009, and absolutely love it-the shade is made with a quality, dark reddish, almost maroon fabric, and the lamp base is metal-solid. That table lamp looked exactly like what was pictured.

The lamp I received today is horrible-the shade is shiny, thin, bright orangey-red; can barely see the gold threads; the finial is permanently attached to the harp, and made of shiny brown plastic--its not swirls like whats in the picture, but just a hook shape. I didnt even get to the rest of the lamp, packed everything in the box to go back asap.

This item was definitely NOT what was pictured. Amazon has never failed me before, but I am having second thoughts about how I shop this Christmas.

This is a well-made floor lamp. It was a bit more pricey than I was looking to spend however the colors and style are perfect for my decor. Delivery was very fast and assembly only took about 10 minutes. ****Be aware though that this lamp is only about 4'5" tall so it is shorter than most other floor lamps.**** It works great as a reading lamp beside a chair. (which is what I wanted) In my opinion it does not put off enough light to cover an entire room. The lampshade color is a cross between wine red and brick red with gold accents. When the lamp is lit the shade looks more brick colored. The accent thread is a non-metallic light gold.

The gooseneck is sturdy but way to short. I bought this for my desk not noticing that the gooseneck is attached to the Bach of the clamp instead of the top, which would have made a lot more sense and would have made it much more versatile. As it is, the C shape is created behind the clamp and holder which makes the ipad Tay at the err edge of the desk and un reachable. Too bad, it's a good product just not well thought out.

I hesitated buying this lamp because it's pricey but I finally bought it because I knew it would be so perfect for my kid's pirate-themed bedroom. I am so glad I did! It's very well made and has a very fantasy-like feel which I love for my kids. I love the "Yo ho ho" song that is plays and that the pirate, skeleton and treasure chest move to the song. It definitely reminds me of the Pirates of the Carribean ride in Disney World like another reviewer stated (which I find so magical). I don't know if these bulbs rate 5-stars, but I wanted to bring up the rating because I am using them in three multi-bulb bathroom fixtures and they are lovely. CFLs take a couple of minutes to reach their full light. The light from these bulbs is warm light, not white light. I'm still looking for cool/white light CFLs for another bathroom. IF you give them a couple of minutes to brighten up, you'll have all the light you need.

I bought these lightbulbs because the lights in my vanity are so darn hot I have to crack the door to avoid overheating. Sadly, the heat they give off is almost the same as the incandescent (I put some side by side to test). Oh well, I guess I need to hunt for LED globes.

I ordered 7 bulbs (to have one extra) but one arrived broken and one was oddly discolored when plugged in, making it stand out in the row of otherwise neat lights. So I am taking off one star for that.

However, if you just want replacements that are like the incandescent they seem to fit the bill. They certainly didn't "instant on" like the incandescent, but they do provide some light while you're waiting (unlike some other brands I've had that are worthless till heated up).

I have been using CFL's (compact fluorescent lights) for over 10 years. They all have one major drawback: they are very dim when you first turn them on and slowly (as much as five minutes) get brighter until they reach their rated output. This is very annoying to me. My bathrooms are all lit with CFL's and until I bought these bulbs I would wait and wait until there was enough light to shave. Annoying!

Saving energy was becoming too inconvenient. I decided to look for CFL's that claim "instant on". Searching Amazon, I found these. Since Amazon guarantees every purchase, I decided to try the MaxLite bulbs that claim instant on operation. When you turn these bulbs on, there is a decent amount of light.It is far from full brightness; probably less than half as bright as when they warm up, but way better than the cheap Home Depot bulbs. After a couple of minutes the MaxLites are nearly at rated output.

Like the other CFL's, the instant on capability seems t diminish over time. After about a month, they are not as bright at startup and take a bit longer to "warm up". Still, it is way better than the competition. CFL technology is not all that good yet. However, the energy savings are excellent and this brand is at least, tolerable.

It still pays to use conventional incandescent lamps where you need a lot of light as soon as you flick the switch. This is not a good choice for those dark, basement steps. Of course, if you have lights that you leave on all the time, any CFL, even the cheap ones are fine. The MaxLites cost more than twice as much as the cheap bulbs, but if they last as long as claimed, the difference in initial cost will hardly matter.

The bulbs I received were not the G30 Globe size. They were much smaller and they did not match the bulbs I already had in my fixture. I returned the bulbs (without any issue) and purchases bulbs from another web sight and the new bulbs matched my current bulbs perfectly.

This lamp is nice; I bought it for my daughters room as a little accent lamp/night light. It was a good price. The shade is a bit cheap and came wrapped so tightly in plastic that I ending up denting it when I tried to take the plastic off. I will probably end up getting a new shade as it's also a little long for the lamp and obscures the frog's eye a bit more than I think it should. For now I use it as is and turned the dented spot towards the wall.

Pretty sturdy for paper, and a nice, big beach-ball sized lamp. I've had mine for at least a year, and the way it's holding up, I'll enjoy it for years to come. In general, hanging lamps make cleaning easier: don't have to move it to vacuum like a floor lamp and don't have to wipe it down like a table lamp. A quick dust every half year or so, and it's clean.

Pro: A clever, compact lamp. Bright enough and energy-efficient.

Con: The base is too light. The shade is smaller with respect to the base than the photos suggest. Cost-conscious construction.

I'd buy another, add some weight inside the base (thus voiding the warranty), and use it as a piano lamp... IF it were still "fulfilled by Amazon" and therefore eligible for super-saver shipping. But the current delivered price ($X + $.3X shipping) seems a bit high.

I bought 3 of these, 2 for gifts and one for myself. They hook up in seconds, don't take up much desktop space and provide 3 brightness settings. The light from these is perfect. They really provide exactly as much as you need and with the flexible neck should be able to fulfill your needs. I've got mine plugged into a little clock on my desk with a USB port but they come with a usb cable and plug adapter if you want to use an outlet. One of mine came without the adapter. I emailed the Sun Alarm company (makers of the iTask) and had a response within minutes letting me know they'd be mailing me an adapter at no charge. Superb service and a great product. What more can you ask for?

I received the adapter within 2 days of contacting Sun Alarm. Not only a great product but superb customer service. If you're looking for a desk lamp, look no farther.

I loved the lamp. Love the versatility of it with adapters. Love the three touch brightness. However, I would of loved it more if the base was somewhat weighted. As long as you do not bump it it will be fine and not tip over. Also noticed if I have something on my fingers and run my finger over the on switch sometimes it does not take to turn on. I have to repeat it a couple of times. Still overall I do enjoy the lamp and will adapt to the quirks. Ordering another one for my desk at work and will leave this one at bedside table. Like the idea of color choices too!
