I love this lamp although it is taller than I imagined it would be, so definitely measure the space where you intend to use it. Be sure to use a low wattage bulb as I noticed the shade began to buckle from the heat of the bulb. I've switched to a lower watt and it's fine now. It is a lovely sleek warm lamp. I've been very happy with it.

Double check measurements before you buy--this lamp is really big. It's gorgeous--rectangular pieces of slate tile placed all over the base, and a shade that's wonderfully rich and warm with flecks of fiber running through. The base looks homemade, but not in a grade school way. The shade curves in a wave, which makes it hard to butt the lamp up against a wall (not that you would, but still...)

Overall very nice, but not the size for a bedside table. Definitely needs a lot of space.

It is a beautiful lamp, great shade, three way bulb, well made. We have in the waiting room of a psychotherapy suite and all of the therapists (10) and the clients love it. We use a full spectrum bulb in it which help the plants grow in a windowless room.

I love the base of the lamp, rustic, but elegant. I have been looking for a slate lamp for a long time. However, the shade is a little strange, is curves and has fabric flecks that you can't see in the photograph. FYI the lamp is really heavy.

I purchased this and 8 other Robert Abbey lamps a few years back on uber-clearance for just under $300 TOTAL. I have mixed style tastes but generally go toward classic as opposed to modern but I love these lamps. They are large, have a built-in dimmer, haven't tarnished (5 years later) and are simple to clean. I have 4 of these in nickel--3 short and 1 floor. I also purchased the brass options for another home with a different style. I also have 2 of the black gourd lamps. I happen to love Robert Abbey after scoring on product. I can now appreciate a nice lamp also.

This lamp is very classy and looks great. It has clean lines I love the glass but did not like all of the lamps where the cord was simply hanging through the glass base it looked sloppy. This looks nice and fits well with my sunny bedroom. Wish there were or colors....it would look great next to my 30 gal aquarium too!

The lamp's screw thread connections are poorly manufactured and the lamp stands crooked. Also, the light shades were dinged and deformed during delivery. Delivery damages aside, I'm very disappointed with the overall poor quality of this product.

An oldie-but-goodie lamp concept that I remember fondly from the 1950s. The cool retro look works in my living room for reading, needlework and ambient lighting. It works just as well in my office, where I have one "bullet" pointed at the computer, one at the desk and one straight up. The brushed steel has a quality look and the swivel heads work smoothly so far and stay where you put them, unlike some much fancier and more expensive task lights where the arms collapse under the weight of the shade (I'm talking about you, Tolomeo). These are simple, practical, versatile lighting tools that, to my mind, are worth more than the price.

I looked at nearly every tree lamp on Amazon and chose this one based on the relatively high reviews. The one prior review about the poor packaging gave me pause, but I figured it was a fluke. It was not. The box arrived falling apart, the stryfoam inside was crumbling, taped together, and supplemented with styrofoam peanuts. One of the three lamps was broken completely off the pole. Even if it were not broken, I would not have liked this lamp. The shades are thin and cheap looking and appear to be plastic, not metal. I do give five starts to Amazon for their excellent return policies they refunded my money right away and told me to dispose of the broken lamp (rather than having to send it back).

While the lamps in the picture appeared to be nice, I will never know how nice they might be. I placed my order on March 17 and received a response that I should have them between March 26th and 29th. I had guests coming around that time and I was redecorating my family room, so I thought they would be perfect. On March 28th, I received an email from Home and Living, telling me that the lamps were on back-order until MAY 31st!!! They offered a meager 10% discount for the inconvenience. Since my guests were arriving on the 30th, I did not have time to go shopping for lamps and had to "make do" with the lamps I already had. Needless to say, I was very disappointed and cancelled the order. If I had received a notification of the back order sooner, I would have had time to go out and find some lamps locally. I will never order from this company again and I would advise anyone else not to order unless you have two or three months to wait around for what you need. You might be better off buying from another seller, or finding what you need locally. I hope which ever way you go, you'll have better success than I did.

Lamps are very nice. The pictures don't tell the quality but it is very good. Packaging was done right and shipping was fast. All in all very satisfied wit the purchase. Just as a precaution, make sure to check the height. These lamps are tall which is not so evident by the pictures.

This company has been the best that I have ever ordered from. I had ordered these lamps and I unpacked them (they were packaged great) the first lamp I plugged in was fine I went to plug in the other one and sparks went flying I knew it was not my plug in because I had a lamp plugged in the socket before so I tried another socket same thing. The next day I called them and left a message about the lamp they tried calling back but I was at work and could not answer they sent me an email and wanted to know what was wrong I explained to them they emailed back and said no problem they would have get another set out by fedex the next day. I received my new lamps they both work great. I am so impressed with how this company responded rigth away and took care of me. I searched the Brinkmann site and these were listed under "solar lights metal". Brinkmann site says steel finish with an aluminum hook. I know the info here also says stainless finish, so was not sure what I would get.

What I received seems to be all plastic, though durable. The finish is a light, but dull, silver. On my computer the silver looked much darker than what I received. I was also hoping for a cool colored glow, but these give off the warm yellow. I was hoping to use them outside the back door and be able to use the lantern to walk about when it is dark. They have been delegated to a different area of my garden as they do not fit that need.

For the price I can't complain too much though, and will keep them,

PS:I always use strong ni-mh batteries and get great strong lighting results, so can't comment on how the lighting would be with the usual ni-cd "solar" batteries.

The gooseneck is sturdy but way to short. I bought this for my desk not noticing that the gooseneck is attached to the Bach of the clamp instead of the top, which would have made a lot more sense and would have made it much more versatile. As it is, the C shape is created behind the clamp and holder which makes the ipad Tay at the err edge of the desk and un reachable. Too bad, it's a good product just not well thought out.
