my living room has very high ceilings and makes it difficult to provide adequate lightings. Most arc lamps are expensive and has dimmer control. I don't want dimmer control because i want to use CFL light bulbs to save energy. I always like paper lanterns because they give rooms soft and peaceful feels.
I was pleasently surprised whe I received it. The lamp is much more beautiful than the picture on amazon web site. The finish is dark brown with fine grains. The grains are so fine you won't see it unless up close, but it really gives depth to the finish, unlike those lamps you saw normally at hardware stores with flat paints that just look "dead flat".
The tan lamp shades also not just flat tan, but with a few stripes on them, like those you saw on fine art papers. I put 23W full spectrum CFL bulbs in 2 of the shades, and one with regular CFL bulbs. With full spectrum bulbs, the shade looks off-white, with just a little hint of tan to it. the one with regular CFL bulb looks tan. I mixed full spectrum with regular bulbs to have lights that are not too white(blue) nor too yellow
now the cons:
1. the arms are not bendable. You can only adjust the spacing among the 3.
2. the base is not big and heavy enough. a little tippy on carpets.
3. I would like the shades to be a little bigger. the openings are small, even with my small hands, it is still very difficult to put the light bulbs in
overall I am very happy with the purchase. My 4 yr old think it is very beautiful too (believe me, little kids' sense of beauty is better than adults, because theirs are not polluted)
Update on 1/30/2013:
I finally take the time to do an update. I'm taking one star off because it is just not stable enough. It has tipped over a few times that I ended up putting a big hard cover book under it (I have carpets), and a weight on top the base to stabilize it. I hope they will sell replacement shades. Mine have holes on it form tipping over.

I bought this lamp about 5 years ago. It's been through 2 moves and is doing fine. It's a bit hard to get the bulbs in but no biggy, especially if you use the smaller size bulbs. I wish it came with an extra paper lantern thoughif you've ever had a paper lantern you know how easily they can tear.
The picture for this doesn't do it justice at all. It looks a LOT better in reality.
UPDATE: 4/4/13
So now it's been about about 8 years since I purchased this (originally from the Target website) and it's still in decent condition. The rotating plastic switch on the side snapped off but you can still use the plastic nub to turn it on and off. I have it connected to a zwave controller now so I don't use that anyway. The powder coated pole got a couple hairline scratches on it from the most recent move (this is move #4) but nothing too noticeable. Still very happy with it considering how long it's lasted and how many uhaul trucks it's endured.

Stand should be bigger so it can balance the lamp, is alittle wobbly on carpet. The shades are really delicate, so delicate I just put mine up and they have holes in them already! Where can you get replacement shades? Who knows! 60 or even 40 watt bulbs are hard to get into the lantern. Sure, you can use smaller bulbs but whats the point since I bought this to use with the 60 watt for light.
Honest reviews on Adesso 4101-26 Spheres Arc 3-Light Floor Lamp with Rice-Paper
This lamp looks really nice, but when it arrived, one of the pieces that the light bulb screws into was broken, now the light bulb kind of dangles there. It is also VERY top heavy. The base it too small and light, it's fallen over several times, I'm trying to find a weight to fix to the bottom of it. I hold my breath every time someone walks by it.

I bought this lamp two years ago with high hopes. My living room does not have a ceiling fixture, so I need a good-quality floor lamp that throws a lot of light and doesn't take up too much floor space. This one seemed like it would fit the bill.
If you use 60 watt bulbs, this lamp does throw a lot of light. And the paper shades make it a warm light. So it gets two stars for that. But otherwise, it's been a disappointment.
First of all, it is so hard to replace the bulbs on this thing. The lamp shades are too small, and way too inconvenient to take off. You have to try and shove your hand up there at this odd angle and hope for the best. If someone were to give me another one of these lamps for free, I wouldn't take it, because I get so frustrated trying to put the stupid light bulbs in. And because it is my main living room light source, I do go through bulbs. No way to avoid this hassle.
Secondly, the paper shades are so thin that they rip when you look at them sideways. I'm a careful person; I've had a paper lantern in my bedroom for going on 4 years now and it's still in one piece. But this lamp has several holes in it.
And finally, it's not very attractive. It is very hard to hang the shades off the wires in such a way that they look neat and straight. Between that and the rips, it looks like it belongs in a college dorm. The pole is also not straight, though that may vary with the unit you get. I have it on hardwood so it doesn't tip, but it still looks wobbly.
Overall, this was not a great choice. But the price was right, and you get what you pay for.
