This is a metal lamp. Compared with those really cheap lamps, this one is relatively solid and pretty.

There is a small mistake in product descreption: This lamp comes with a 13W CFL bulb with soft white(warm light) light, which makes it more price friendly.

After one day the switch broke. We had not turned it the wrong way and had not handled it roughly. Unfortunately, I had given this as a gift and not kept the recipt, so it was $20 wasted

I purchased this desk lamp a little over a year ago. Within six months the plastic knob for the switch broke. This lamp was not treated roughly, just daily use caused the plastic part of the switch to break. The shade part does not stay put. With any type of movement, the shade part constantly falls off. I would not recommend this lamp.

This lamp is certainly the worst product I've ever bought off Amazon. Enough to make me write my first review.

The black plastic ring between the back and the shade doesn't attach properly. I took it off. The black plastic on the arm of the lamp is conduit, and it's not attached at either the top or the bottom, so it looks hideous. So I cut it off.

The switch is a hemisphere on the back of the lamp. It feels very flimsy. This switch can only be turned clockwise to switch the lamp on / off. On the second day of having this, I reached up from my bed and turned it counter-clockwise by mistake. It completely broke the lamp. I figured it couldn't be that hard to fix, so I opened it up and the rotary switch had two tiny plastic tabs which had snapped off. Because I'm an idiot, I'd already thrown out the box, so I couldn't return it. I soldered the connectors together so that the lamp would at least work, but now it's always on. To solve that I just bought a outlet switch to turn it on and off.

The one plus side is that a bulb is actually included, which saves you a couple dollars. Except when I went to the hardware store today to buy the outlet switch, I found this exact lamp for $12.

For an inexpensive desk lamp you can't beat it. Even though the Product Description says "bulb not included", I received a type A incandescent bulb in the package with the lamp.
