This lamp is gorgeous and has dignity about it. My only comment is they claim to have an "Oil Rubbed Bronze Finish" -these things are clearly made of wood and I didn't see one bit of bronze on them -still I'm quite happy happy with them and they look fabulous.

Hands down, we LOVE these lamps. I purchased 2 of these lamps for use on our nightstands in our bedroom. If you are considering purchasing the lamps, I recommend taking a tape measure and measuring where the lamp will go so that you have a visual. It is a little bit on the large size for a nightstand or small table. If you were going to place this on a console table, it's perfect, but for smaller tables, make sure that it's not too large for you. Also, I was concerned that based on the photo, the lamp would be quite gold. While there is a gold hue, it's not a yellow lamp. It's the perfect mix of silver/gold tones, beautiful mercury glass. I found that this was a really great lamp when comparing to other mercury glass lamps. Highly recommend!

This lamp does the job and looks nice. I've had it for a few months now and have had several compliments on it.

Rather than buying an expensive antique lamp with real bronze or copper I decided to try this for a bit and I think now I'll actually keep it around. It puts off a really nice warm glow and looks great against the dark wood trim in my 1911 Craftsman home.

Yes it came with a lot of styrofoam as the other reviewer mentioned but so did every lamp I've bought, it sure didn't deter from the quality of the item itself which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. I'd give it 5 stars if the base of the lamp weren't sort of painted on a wheel looking. The stripes in it are a tad bit cheesy looking up close if you really examine the finish carefully. This detail is minimal though compared to how nice the shade looks.

Our 1911 bungalow living room is dark quarter-sawn oak with coffered walls and ceilings. It is both literally and financially a black hole. The dark architectural elements make it very difficult to light. Additionally, this type of home really DEMANDS a certain authenticity and (for example) doesn't tolerate design errors. This table lamp fits right into the style and is pretty decent for a little over 100 bucks. Look at brass or copper versions if you have a hankering for authenticity but considering the number of light units it takes to give our very dark room ANY perceptible light, these fixtures are life and money savers. Four stars because the lamps hang a bit low and the ersatz mica lamp shade looks manufactured rather than natural.

I purchased two of these lamps to use on bedside tables, but when they arrived they were not touch activated. Instead there was an on/off switch on the cord. Only one setting, maximum 60w bulb. I contacted Adesso and was told that they had to change the design due to cfl bulbs. The lamps are nice and modern looking, however they also looked more like hotel lamps than anything homey. I ended up returning them as my main reason for purchasing was the touch feature.

These lamps are gorgeous! Very modern, sleek, and a compliment to any contemporary decor. The absolute best feature however is the "touch" on/off feature... soooo convenient. From now on we will be looking for "touch" lamps!

My only caution is that if you are looking for a lamp to illuminate a large room, these are probably not your best bet. They are more of a luminescent accent piece that helps to set a calm mood in the room.

I purchased 2 of these Adesso Sophia Tall Table Lamps in Satin Steel and find them to be absolutely stunning! Great for a modern home. No obvious finger prints left behind because the steel has a satin finish. I only wish my refrigerator was made of satin steel! The lamp shade is of good quality, not like the paper shades from IKEA, which tear easily. I've vacuumed the shaded multiple times and no tearing because they are not made of paper. I've had them over a year now and they are still working & look just like the day I purchased them. Very easy to clean. The cord has a built in on/off switch. It is not dimmable. If you like the style, go for it. You won't be disappointed. Plus the price is fantastic for such great quality...

I ordered these because this is the color theme in my bedroom and I thought these would make great bedside lamps. My first issue is that they didn't come with instructions, so I didn't realize right away that these are French style lamps. So to assemble this you screw the light bulb in after you have put the shade on top (flush) of the base. It doesn't give off as much light as I would have hoped. The blue shade is pretty dark. I ordered two of these, but have only put one together. The other one is still in the box, I should have returned them, but had already thrown away the main packaging it came in once I realized how to properly use the lamp. I wasn't thrilled with it, but am stuck with them now.

This lamp is too simple for the price. The seams on the lamp are so huge and obvious. During the assembly, I notice the bottom portion that hides the cord was loosely glued on. But that will not show once the lamp is upright. I could have gone to Walmart and get much better quality lamps for much less.

Assembly was semi-easy. The only difficult parts were threading the cord through the bottom so that the top portions could be screwed in properly and getting the shades leveled. None of this was not addressed in the pitiful instructions, so that took a lot of time of adjusting the harp to get the leveling precise.

We bought two of these, in bronze, to install as reading lamps over / next to our bed. They were packed well and everything arrived intact. Installation is a bit tricky but not too bad, though I would strongly recommend throwing away the wall anchors that came with the unit and getting some better ones. I used the ones in the box, and with the drill bit they suggested, the anchors almost disappeared completely into the wall, and a result, it's not affixed to the wall securely enough, IMO.. I need to go back and reinstall with better anchors, but thought I would share this suggestion so that maybe someone doesn't make the same mistake. Also, I made the mistake of putting the first one directly in line with the wall outlet, and it ended up being too close to use both the cord covers so I had to shorten it with a chop saw. On the 2nd installation, I put it to the side of the outlet, so if the cord cover was too long, it's not a big deal. Happy to clarify if that's confusing.

Also, I couldn't find this info anywhere in the product description, but it takes a 50/100/150 watt bulb, so it can get as bright as you need to.

In summary, these are good-looking lamps at a nice price, and that don't require the installation of any electrical fixtures. Make sure you pay careful attention to some details when you do the install, and get some better anchors, and it'll save you some grief.

After my twin babies had knocked over and broken the second reading lamp in their room, I decided to get a wall lamp so that they wouldn't be able to reach it. I love this lamp! I installed it on the wall above where the kids can reach from the floor, and while sitting in the rocking chair with one in each arm, I can easily swing it towards us for reading books and then swing it back towards the wall out of reach when we transition to rocking/singing (which was always the part of our bedtime routine when they would reach over and grab the lampshade or knock the lamp to the floor). It has a three way switch and gives great, warm light for reading. It looks nice on the wall, too. I only docked one star because the shade it comes with is a bit flimsy and cracked while I was installing it. You can't really see the crack, though, so it's not that big a deal (and was hardly worth the time/effort to ship back for a replacement). Very easy to install (you do need a drill, though) and it comes with a long, narrow metal cord cover that you can install on the wall to hide the cord on its way to the outlet (another useful feature for deterring two curious kids!).

The lamp is clearly advertised as using a 150 W bulb and a 3 way switch...exactly what I was shopping for.

It's attractive and will do what I expected it to do EXCEPT: the Harp, which is almost impossible to compress and fit into the lamp stem is so small that a regular GE 150 W 3way bulb will not fit inside the harp. The harp must lean against the bulb which hints at early bulb burnout due to overheating. It could even be a safety issue.

I wonder if the people who design these things ever really put one to use.

It may be a bit preemptive to review these light bulbs...but it's been a few weeks, and I have had no issues. The light is bright but not harsh. In other lamps, I have had the same bulbs in for the last 4 years, so far so good!

The only thing is that you can probably find it cheaper in store. At the time, I was not able to go out and get them, and with amazon prime, it ended up being easier to just buy them from here.

I have been using incandescent Reveal light bulbs in my house for 5 years. I wanted to purchase CFL bulbs to help save energy costs, but was never happy with their color. Some are too white and look industrial, others were too blue and gave a weird glow to a room. The Reveal CFLs solve that problem by giving a very pure color of light that is similar to their incandescent counterparts. Whether you are a fan of the regular Reveal bulbs, or have never tried them, I definitely recommend these. I think the color of the light is the most natural of all the CFLs I have tried.

I would recommend NOT purchasing them on Amazon as they are overpriced. I have found them on sale for around 10 dollars for a two pack at many big box retailers (Target, Lowes, etc.).

I have these installed in a four light bathroom fixture. The overall brightness and color is way better than the standard GE brand CFL's that these bulbs replaced. The major problem I have is the loud hum that these bulbs make when powered on, so if you buy them don't plan on putting them in a light fixture that you have to sit next to for long periods of time because it would get really annoying quick.

The brightness of this bulb looks on par with a reveal 60 watt incandescent since the coating on those reduces their brightness quite a bit. The color is better than other CFL's I've used but it could use more red. These are better than most LED but not as good as the new breed of expensive high CRI LEDs.

Like some have mentioned already, CFL bulbs can be too harsh and bright. I found the GE Reveal CFL's seem to have gotten very close to the incandescent version. I still use the Reveal incandescent in other lamps in the house that are not used as much, but I put a 40w and a 60w in a living room lamp that is frequently in use. I am satisfied with the light it distributes, plus there are times I only put on the 60w light instead of both bulbs together.

It is very tough to find the 40w Reveal CFL in stores. 60w and 100w are not an issue, but I specifically wanted 40w for my household purposes.

If you have any doubts about these Reveal CFL's, don't. I do believe you will be satisfied!

Love this little guy. For the price, it's fantastic. It was recommended to me by a friend, and I use it on my work table as a spot lamp. It has been great. Very, very bright for such a small lamp, and it is solidly constructed & points firmly wherever you direct it. I may get another for my desk. While it is bright, it is somewhat concentrated does not cover a huge area. Would be good for a desk lamp as it does not take up much surface space, and I find it extremely helpful as a task light for doing detail work. There is a tiny bit of assembly required, but I am a complete moron and it only took me about a minute to "assemble" the base. I highly recommend this little lamp.

Backstory: I got two of these lamps, and both flickered from day 1. Hence the critique in this review cannot be dismissed as a one-off.

The lamp is as good as anything out there, once the switch is replaced. Seems Ikea -whose products are ever leading the race to the bottom in quality, consistency and durability -saves pennies per unit by using a very cheaply and poorly designed/manufactured switch. Surprised?

Easy to remedy, if you have an amateur's skill with electricals. The connection inside the switch is the "pinch" kind, aka "insulation displacement" type, which is why the light flickers or just stops working. Ikea could care less, of course. But there's no need to throw the lamp away, without at least giving this a try first.

Step by step fix for a flickering lamp.

Tools: phillips screw driver, wire cutters, wire strippers, hammer, eye protection

Go to a locally owned hardware store, and buy a Leviton single pole cord switch, cat no. 5410, or equivalent. Leviton 5410 Appliance Switch, Feed-Through Switch Rocker, Single Pole, Single Throw, 3A-125V AC, Brown (Don't buy the pinch kind. It won't work, since this lamp does not use standard gauge lamp wire. Also, I can't recommend buying an inline dimmer, since this is an Ikea product we're talking about, and it could easily melt or exude meatball gravy or lingonberry juice.)

Unplug the lamp, and remove the existing lamp switch by smashing it with a hammer. Yes, you have to smash it, don't cut the wire.

Put on safety glasses or some sort of eye protection, and hold the switch sideways (seam up) on something hard and well supported, like a concrete floor or doorway threshhold, not a table or countertop. Hammer the switch straight down on the seam. Two or three well placed whacks, and you get the halves to split open enough to tear them apart by hand.

You'll see two lines, one cut, the other continuous. Pull out both lines. Discard and banish all further thought of the now-broken and defeated carcass of the worthless Ikea switch.

Cut the ends of the already cut line, removing the "pinch" connectors. Discard those too. Don't cut the uncut half of the wire.

Strip the insulation from the ends you just cut, about 1/2 inch.

Unbolt the casing of the new switch, and you can easily see where your exposed wire ends should go. (Twisting your wire ends before wrapping and tightening under the lead screws helps. The Leviton thing comes with instructions and diagram, but you can ignore the polarity issue, the plug used in this lamp is not polarized.)

Put your new switch back together, and you should now have something almost no one else on Earth has even seen: an Ikea Jansjo lamp which will actually work -until the bulb burns out, that is. Guess I'll write another review when that time comes.

Ikea merchandise often seems to me to be suitable mostly for those whose tastes match Ikea's eccentric design philosophy, but this particular product may not be right even for die-hard Ikea fans. A few things to consider before purchasing this product:

The gooseneck is about 19" long, meaning it's difficult to position without an unaesthetic, ungainly appearance.

The light beam is extremely narrow. At 8" above the desk, it illuminates only a 9" circle.

The switch is on the power cord, about 12" from the base, meaning one cannot hang the power cord off the back of the desk.

The lamp has a wall-wart power supply.

I'm sure the product is well made, but the design is really not suitable for my own, personal workspace.

This lamp stopped working after about 1 month of extremely light use. We only used it for 15-30 mins each night to read his bedtime stories. The lamp is high on a table where my son cannot get to it.

Next time I was there, I bought the exact same lamp to replace the unusable one. Same thing: about a month later, it stopped working. It would spontaneously dim then not stay on at all.

I love IKEA. Half our furniture is from IKEA. This is the only IKEA product I've ever been disappointed with.

I would recommend ordering elsewhere. The order came extremely quickly (3 days). The bulb works when inserted. No problem there.

The issue: no where on the package does it indicate the bulb is a full spectrum bulb. Now I see the description on the site says "white light replacement light bulbs for Bell & Howell Sunlight Desk Lamp." I thought a replacement bulb for a full spectrum bulb would mean the replacement is also full spectrum. Apparently "replacement" in this case means it fits in the 4 prong socket and will give light. Neither the website ad nor the package indicates this is a full spectrum light. I feel ripped off. My burnt out bulb is marked "balanced spectrum" and "manual daylight" on it--not clear what manual daylight means. I suggest ordering the Verilux bulb from another source which is described as a full spectrum bulb.

Also, at the time I ordered (3-4 days ago), I had to order a package of 2 bulbs from this company (Lilgift). Today the website indicates bulbs can be ordered one at a time. I see also the suggested tags for this product and "full spectrum" is not one of them.

These are great bulbs at a very good price point. I suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD) so I really value my Sunlight Therapy lamp. I was excited to order and receive my bulb. It lasts a very long time, saves me money compared to incandescent bulbs, and does not flicker! The light is soft, easy on my eyes, and yet gives me all the illumination I need and really helps lift my mood.

MY MISTAKE, ordered for Verilux floor lamp bulb replacement (cracked orig, moving lamp and banged it).

The base design for this model I ordered is much different than Verilux's. Quick glance appears same but

plastic section that contains the 4 pins is different shape and the pins are slightly shorter.

1. The plastic section design causes bulb to pop/bounce out of Verilux lamp. When I compared them, realized that Verilux

sides have approx 1/8"+ space at bottom of plastic closest to pins. This model I ordered the sides of the plastic begins at the base. So that I wouldn't have to wait to order another, return for exchange, time, shipping costs etc. I had to grind a space on ea side with my Dremmel equivalent to space distance of my Verilux bulb.

2. The 4 pins are a fraction shorter, without finding a ruler to measure, guessing approx. 1/32-1/16".

3. I compensated for pin distance and the space needed on sides combined for grinding.

After I grinded with caution, inserted bulb, powered on, all 4 lit fine, no flickering, light quality comparable to my Verilux. To be fair for product review, I gave 4 stars for immediate performance, don't know how many hrs. it will function. Obvious would not reduce rating stars for my error ordering wrong design. The bottom is not oval like Verilux, has odd shape but this does not affect inserting the bulb nor the performance of it. It is solely due to the side design of the plastic base. ENLARGE A VERILUX BULB PIC WITH ENLARGED PIC OF THIS BULB SIDE BY SIDE ON YOUR COMPUTER, YOU SHOULD NOTICE DIFFERENCE IMMEDIATELY NOW THAT I'VE POINTED OUT. Otherwise as most persons are busy with daily demands, Amazon is fantastic time saver shopping, so this bulb could easily be considered cost saving replacement.

I don't plan on adding to this review and took the time to be fair to seller, Amazon, manufacturer of bulb and Verilux. Explained my error, how to fix in case you've already order this one as I did, save you time & $ to use it until you need another replacement bulb to help you and reduce unfair future product reviews.
