Product received promptly and as advertized. Well packed, no breakage, and all items tested and functional. Glass to metal bond seems a little weak, as typical of current imports, be careful not to twist the base off when inserting in light socket. During the six months since delivery, we have found the average "socket life" of these bulbs to be slightly less than 30 days. Down grade my review to "two stars".

Since 100 watt bulbs are no longer made, and these bulbs will be made forever, I bought some light dimmers and replace the old light socket with dimmers and now use these 150 watt bulbs. Much better than a 3-way bulb. (purchased Jan. 2013) They work great except the bulb is slightly bigger than the 100 watt bulb. Because of this, one of my lights could not be updated with the dimmer / 150 watt bulb combination. The lamp would not clear the bracket that holds the shade. The bulbs were well packed in their own brown cardboard box inside the shipping box. The dimmer I used is: "Leviton 6151 Incandescent Lamp holder Socket Dimmer". You should be able to find this local for under $10.

A couple of broken ones on arrival, and they don't last very long; not worth it. You'll do better getting them from the grocery store as you need them or stocking up at Home Depot, if you don't mind the storage space they'll need.

A month or so ago this lamp started acting up, about 10 months after purchase. It shut off and I thought the bulb had just burned out, but upon replacing it, the lamp would still not turn on. I moved outlets and used another bulb to narrow it down and sure enough it was the lamp. After some fidgeting with screwing the bulb in looser/tighter it finally flicked on and was OK until today. My previous screw/unscrew trick didn't work, so I actually had to take the lamp apart and figured out that the contact point for the bulb was bent so it wasn't making contact anymore. After some surgery to bend it where it needed to be it came back on, but in the process of taking the lamp apart one of the spokes on the lampshade detached from the rim (very poor weld/braze, if not just glue, I can't tell), giving me a second example of how cheaply made this lamp is.

---Original Review Aug 2010 ----

I *just now* unpacked this lamp and set it up on the nightstand next to my bed. I'll give you my absolute first impressions.

a) The lamp shade is further than just off-white. When on, it's actually a distinct tan/amber color, which was unexpected. I've been wanting a white lamp shade and was hoping for something closer to the product photo. I'll actually post a white-balanced / color-correct photo of the lamp later on. I may get used to this but as I said, it was unexpected.

b) WOW, it puts out great light. I'm using a 100w GE Reveal light bulb and the output is great. The top and bottom of the lamp shade are open (normal) but the protrusion of the lamp body over the shade itself splits the upper beam, giving you shards of light. The verdict is out on whether I like this effect. Again, later you'll see photos.

c) It's bigger than expected. I used a tape measure to determine the space using the product specs, but upon unboxing and setting it up I realized it was definitely big and sturdy. Not a problem, it actually saves me space due to the shape of the body.

d) The light switch is an inline clicker/dial switch. I wasn't sure what to expect (I bought this based on aesthetics) but this makes it slightly more difficult to turn on and off. If I keep the lamp I'm going to look into an inline dimmer dial or touch-sensitive control I can easily reach.

So far it's very sturdy and appears well-made. Definitely high quality but again, I'm disappointed at how distinctly amber the shade is when the lamp is on (and it's not the fault of the bulb either, as I'm using a Reveal soft white bulb that outputs a color temperature of about 2850 kelvin, which is definitely close to a regular incandescent but looks more like 4000k to the eye by contrast).

After owning this lamp for a few days I've grown to love it. The tan/amber color is actually quite pleasant and probably less harsh than a stark white cover would be. It really made my bedroom look and feel like an upscale hotel!

To augment the inline click-dial for turning it on/off, I just ordered a Lutron TT-300NLH-BL dimmer, which sits between the lamp and the outlet and provides a small panel with a slider that can be placed on a nightstand/desk.

I had read several reviews about this product before pulling the trigger on it... Unfortunately, the reviews stating the lamp came damaged proved to be true againthe box was really beat up, and the lamp body has several deep scratches that take the dark bronze finish off and leave the super shiny bronze showing (I'm tempted to scratch my own pattern into the rest of the body if I can't stop noticing it!) The directions are ridiculously generic, and I got extra parts that don't even serve a function for my lamp (Where do you put a swivel on a lamp that doesn't swivel?) Also, while the base is nice and heavy, the actual body is held up by cramming a long pole through one hole in the base and securing it with a wingnutstability, not so much... For the price I thought I was going to get a decent lamp I could use for a long time, instead I'd say drop $50 at Target and save the self loathing!!

I love the design of this lamp, it fits right into the aesthetic of our living room but this is very poorly manufactured lamp. You will more likely than not find scratches all over the base and stem (as noted by other reviewers), but more problematically, the two parts of the stem *will not* align properly and you will be left with an ugly seam that will always be an eyesore. We own multiple other lamps by Kenroy Home, and they've been mostly OK (good design, not so great manufacturing but nothing as egregiously bas as this one) so we hoped this was an issue with the piece we received, so we asked for a replacement through Amazon. The replacement was even worse and we ended up sending that one back. I'm keeping the first one for now, and I'll tell people it's a $30 lamp, not a $150 one. Kenroy Home definitely seems to be a company that gets the design right but fails on the execution more often than not.

I bought two of these lamps to go with my contemporary furniture in the family room. They look great BUT the quality is so poor and the quality control is worse. I have had to exchange shades numerous times as they have arrived with unmatched colors, obviously from different fabric lots. Tears inside the shade which shows through when the light is on. One shade even had the frame on upside down. The light fixture broke as it is a cheap piece of material When I was putting on the shade I could hear the part crack. There are a few flaws in the pole. Seams in the pole are visible but I can deal with that as they are not that noticeable.

I just wish this lamp was a better quality as it could be a great addition to a room. Bought them at a store. one is being returned. Found the best parts of both and kept the other.

We ordered this for a dining room fixture in our condo, which is in a large, open area with living room and kitchen. It is smaller and thinner than it looks like in the picture, but it is very lovely, gives really great light (should have a dimmer installed when you mount it), which is exactly what we wanted: bright light AND dimmable for dining. It is perfect for our space. Only reason it has only 4 stars is to warn you that it might be smaller than you expect, so if you need a larger presence, then go with the light that has the 2nd bar of lights. This is a very nice lamp for the price. Although many pictures don't show it, this lamp uses a pull cord. The lamp shade can be adjusted up and down to direct light where it is most needed. The packaging from the manufacturer seems a bit flimsy, so the first lamp arrived with a shattered lamp shade. We had to return it, but the subsequent one was intact. It serves our purposes well.

When I was in the market for a desk lamp, I needed one that would stand up to the punishment that I would give. This model fullfilled the requirement. I use the lamp every day and many times I leave the lamp on most of the day. The lamp I had before didn't last but one year and wan't the best value. I am hard on desk lamps and this model isn't a "Hi Intensity" model, You don't really need one that powerful just for everyday use. If you have visual problems then one of these type of lights would work better for you.

I received this lamp about a month ago, and it is working out just great. Although it can take up to a 60 watt standard base bulb, it came with a 40 watt florescent bulb that uses about 6 watts, and it is the cool light bulb, as opposed to the warm light, and I like this, in addition to being surprised to get a bulb included. Back to the lamp, it is made very sturdy. The lamp base has a nice brass finish, and is nice and heavy relative to the rest of the lamp, so it won't slide out of place on your table or desk, or wherever you place it, and has a nice felt backing. The lamp comes with a nice brass pull chain as well, for turning it on and off. The lamp is made exceptionally well, as is the green glass shade. So far I am very pleased with my lamp, and the price of $35 was a fantastic buy!

First of all, the 6117BK lamp I received only measured 25.75 inches tall with the shade stuck on the socket, not the advertised 27 inches tall. The black two prong power cord measures 60 inches. There is a thin beige colored cardboard piece that sits between the black ceramic piece and the bottom gold metal piece. You can't see it from across the room, but it is noticeable closer up. The shade construction is adequate. It has three thin rods starting from the top ring, equidistant, angling inward/downward converging onto a small ring (1.5 inches) which then simply pressure fits onto the plastic bulb socket, just above the plastic knob turn switch. I had to turn the shade so that the shade mounting ring/rods would not interfere with being able to turn the switch. If the lamp were to fall over onto the shade, chances are good that the plastic bulb socket will crack, or break. There is a felt-like bottom glued onto the base. My lamp came with gold colored top and bottom, not silver like in the photo. The description does state gold accents. I was hoping for the silver. The listing advertises this lamp as 60 watt. The safety sticker stuck on the bulb socket says max 100 watt bulb. At only 5 lbs, it's a little on the light side. The base is not weighted. This lamp is really a $19.95 value, but due to the huge box it ships in, we pay more for the higher cost of shipping. The Chinese manufacturer box my lamp came in measures 26" x 21" x 13". Amazon shipped it inside an even bigger outer second box. The lamp box contained a barely protected shade, and a bubble wrapped lamp base, able to roll around or hit the shade cardboard packing. My shade arrived dented, but I was able to push it back out. No additional pieces, or instruction/information sheet is included. There is tons of empty space inside the box. Easily fit four stacked shades, and four lamp bases IMO. I would have been happier if it was actually 27" tall, and happier still had it been the silver color accents. I'm debating a return.

I really like these lamps. Ordered two for my bedroom. I didn't feel like driving around shopping for lamps so I took a chance ordering online and couldn't be happier. The lamps themselves are very nice are have a high quality appearance. The lamp shades are great. They are just large enough to add enough substance to these smallish lamps. First off let me say that the lamp and it's shade were purchased in Burgundy and they arrived in perfect condition & matched. The base was bubble wrapped to within an inch of it's life so it would have taken alot to damage it lol. The shade came wrapped in thin plastic, no damage but it could have been packaged in a sturdier box. Another possible is that they need to put FRAGILE stickers on the boxes.

The shade and lamp are perfect for what I needed it for. A simple end table size/type of lamp for my living room. My one and only complaint about the lamp itself is that the cord is on the short side but that seems to be the norm for lamps these days. I wish they cords were a tad bit longer. I don't like having the cord stretched along the wall for 3ft or so. I will more than likely order an extension cord so it can run along the floorboards instead.

I installed couple of these as a tester before purchasing more. So far it has been working as desired. Here's my feedback and observation so far after a week's use

1. Built and looks are good.

2. One of the outlets is a Z-Wave outlet and another one is always on pass thru

3. Pairing with Z-wave is really simple and takes less than a minute for complex setup and few seconds for a simple remote. If you have a Harmony 890/1000 remote you will be able to use it without any gateway as well.

4. Z-wave outlet let's you Dim the lights including letting you control from your remote or on the module

5. Load Sense feature, which is disabled by default, can be enabled to let you use it without any remote or Z-wave interface. You can simply power-on your Lamp and module will sense the load of the lamp and simply powers it on. This is a good feature case you have a not so technically savvy person at home or have younger kids or even with guests do it the traditional way.

6. It does not seem GE makes it and seems a OEM brand. Other brands are also selling, like homepro, that seems very much alike but I have not used others yet.

7. Can be combined with several scenes to watch TV and dim lights. Before going to bed or leaving the house a single click/buttin will ensure that everything is powered off.

Cons:

1. I really wish that both the outlets were Z-wave

2. Little complex to enable Load Sense

3. Manual is just piece of paper ready to be recycled specifically advanced configuration and commands

4. Tech support is technically challenged and you may feel that you may know more than them. By the time they get back to you may have already resolved the problem just with the help of your own skills or or just by Google.

Other Thoughts:

1. Z-Wave outlet: This is a Lamp Module with Dimmer and should not be used for constant current required devices like an "Air Conditioner" or coffee maker.

2. Does work with Dimmable CFL although at "very low" settings you notice flickering effect but that is no fault of either devices. This is how CFL is supposed to behave (for now)

3. There is a Soft fuse instead of wired traditional fuse good for resets case something goes wrong but I am little skeptical for now.

my husband and I bought the starter kit, a remote, a few extra modules and a thermostat and light switch. He found something that gives us a year free of the Nexia (formerly Schlage link) subscription and it was cheaper than us buying the vera and the individual pieces. After that we are going to be getting a vera bridge because it's basically the same service and you don't have to pay a service fee. It was awesome because he ordered it while he was deployed and turned the light on and off and dimmed it while in Singapore! How cool is that!!! Despite all the warnings and the product manual, I've been using this product successfully with LED bulbs. I've 4 Philips Endura LED (7W, dimmable) bulbs wired to these dimmer modules, and they are working perfectly.

Recently bought a few of these and they dont work. All four in this shipment were labeled Ver 3.0d with Date Code 1243 and have the same issue. When sending the OFF command from the controller, this unit dims a bit then go to full brightness about 80% of the time. This makes them pretty much useless. Had no issues with a previous batch I bought which were all labled Ver 3.0a. Will be following up with Jasco/GE to ensure that I dont get another set from the same defective batch. Plus points for a great product at a good pricepoint. Negative points for a defective batch and poor Quality Contol.

I have to say that I expected alot from this touch lamp. I have owned a larger similar dragon touch lamp for years and have always been very please with it. So I figured purchasing this smaller one was a no brainer. I was wrong.

This lamp is just the size I was looking for. So that wasn't a factor in my rating. Nor was the ease of turning it on and off. You can't get much simpler than touching a lamp to operate it. Truthfully these two factors actually made me rate it higher than I would have otherwise. The issues that I have with this lamp are the image of the Blue Dragon and the amount and type of light that the lamp puts off. When the light is off it is rather difficult to tell what the image is suppose to be at all! When the light is on it looks, to me anyways, more like a white winged horse (I am being generous here) than an actual blue dragon. Considering this is described as a Blue Dragon Touch Lamp this is a big problem. Also be warned that since the space surrounding the dragon is black, it affects the brightness of the lamp, which in turn alters the overall ambience that the lamp puts off. Not very cheery or soothing in my opinion but dull and lifeless.

If you are looking for a small touch lamp this one does the trick. But if you want a lamp that does these things AND is nice to look at and lights a small space well I would go with a version of this one but with a brighter image such as 14 Inch Dragon Touch Lamp or 14 Inch Dragon Touch Lamp II.

To the best of my knowledge ALL of these lamps have to be assembled upon arrival. If you can read and have working digits this really shouldn't be a problem for most people. If I recall correctly I think it took me about 15 minutes or so to assemble the whole thing, while half asleep no less.

I have one of these desk lamps in my office at home. It is extremely bright and I love the 18 inch reach of the neck arm. It is a 50 W Halogen bulb that will brightly light any desk area. What I like the most is that the lamp can sit behind my computer monitors and the long neck lets it hang over the top of the monitors to light the keyboard and work area.

The lamp is UL listed and carries a three-year mechanical and a one-year electrical warranty. It is robustly made and looks good on my desk. I use it every day.

These desk lamps look good , but are impossible to lock into the high or low angle positions. I have two of these and they each find their own balance point and stay there . If you want to raise the lamp or lower it, .....there is no way to lock it into position.

This is not my first halogen desk lamp in this style, so I already knew what to expect. But this is from a different manufacturer and the assembly instructions were rather lacking. Yes, there is actually some assembly the support arm and tensioner are in two pieces to accommodate shipping. It helps to attach the support arm segments (the larger rod) first. Be aware that the hollow extension (part "C" in the instructions") fits over the gold connecting pin but you may have to use needle nose pliers to crimp the black spring-loaded bearing, unless you just prefer brute force. Once the support rod segments have been secured you can then connect the tensioner rod. Since it's so much thinner, it can bend somewhat to properly mate. Note that it might be necessary to loosen the adjustment nuts (near the shade) to increase flexibility. Once mated, the tensioner segments can be tightened as noted on the instructions. Once that's over the lamp is fine.

I purchased this desk lamp for its height and design. It comes with no manual and take a good look at the picture because that's the only time you'll see it raised at that height! It just falls to it's lowest point and will not stay up. Worthless piece of garbage! Don't bother. And for that matter, I would recommend not buying anything from this manufacturer as they seem to be dung peddlers who offer no product support. Don't waste your time or money!
