I saw this lamp in a high-end catalog at a higher price. When I spotted in on Amazon at a lower price, I decided to give it a try. This little lamp gives off some decent light. It does take 4 "C" batteries, which are not included. Originally, I had planned to use it in my basement, but I have found it to be a great size for the shelves that are on either side of my kitchen sink. In fact, I like this little lamp so much that I just ordered a 2nd one so that I have a matching set. The lamp would also be very good in a power outage and you can actually hang it up from the top. Very pleased overall.

We got this to light my mom's windowless bathroom at night. There's no ideally located outlet for a plug-in motion-detecting nightlight, and we also wanted her to not be left in pitch-darkness in the event of a power-outage during a late-night bathroom break, so we needed something that runs on batteries. The light this puts out is very white maybe an estimated 5000K or so. The motion-detector has enough sensitivity and range to activate when anyone walks in or even near the bathroom door, which is about 10' from where the lamp is.

It's not really bright enough to read by unless you're right next to it, so it can't replace a standard table lamp, but it's brighter than any motion-detecting night light that I've seen except for maybe the Sentina Zen Light LED Motion Sensor Light, and that's exactly what we use it for -a very bright night light.

I keep this cute little lamp in my laundry room on the shelf above my washer/dryer. I go through my laundry room from the garage to get into the house. This little lamp is great for when I'm coming home with groceries through my pitch black laundry room. It comes on, lights the room nicely/softly and I don't have to worry about turning it off. The batteries just went out so I'd estimate with daily usage the batteries lasted about 6 months. I thought it was a bit pricey but I'm so happy with it totally worth it.

I bought 2 of these lamps from Walmart.com back in June (2010) because they were having a "roll back" sale and they were $35 each. Amazon had them listed for the double the price but have since come down in price and now the $49 price tag is the same as anywhere else on the internet.

The main reason I bought these lamps were because my husband and I were expecting a baby and we thought they would be good bedside lamps. They are SUPER. They have 3 degrees of brightness and that first dim light is absolutely perfect as a night light and we used it as one the first week the baby was born. It's just the right amount of light where you can see to look in on the baby, get a feeding done and not have any harsh light hurting your eyes (or the baby's eyes) at 3:00 am. The second and third degrees of brightness are fine, too, perfect for reading or lighting up the room in general.

The lamp shade itself is a bit wider/bigger than I expected so I can't push the lamps very close to the wall, they are more in the center of my nightstand, which is fine.

The convenience of these lamps is worth a lot, especially for new parents needing to get up multiple times in the middle of the night. The last thing you need to think about is turning on a light switch it's great to be able to roll over in bed and touch any of the metal parts to turn the lamp on or off. And I can imagine when the baby becomes a toddler and older that he will enjoy turning on and off the lamp by merely touching it! I recommend this lamp to all new parents and anyone who likes the convenience of touching a lamp base to have it turn on/off.

I bought another lamp for my baby's room and it works great. He LOVES tapping on the lamp with his hands and watching the lamp turn on/off. However, he started banging on the glass lamp shade and it broke. Warning: although the lamp shade is pretty thick glass and sturdy, a baby pounding on it WILL break it! Luckily nobody got cut with the broken glass and we easily found a replacement lamp shade at IKEA which works great. I still love the ease and convenience of these lamps and will probably buy another one or two for our guest room now.

The lamp is cute and the touch feature is what I'd been wanting for my nightstand. However (am I the only one having this problem??!) sometimes in the middle of the night the lamp turns itself on. It starts out on the lowest level...then maybe a hour or two later it kicks it up a notch to brightness level 2.... etc. Not every night, just some nights. I had insomnia last week and was able to watch this annoying phenomenon go on all night. Now I just unplug it after I get in bed at night. Kind of defeats the simplicity factor that drew me to the lamp in the first place...but oh well.

Not only is the technology of these lamps phenomenal, but their styling is very attractive. We bought two of these lamps recently to replace ones we had on our bedside tables, and we are absolutely delighted with them in particular their ease of use. No more fumbling or reaching for the switch, knocking over books or noisily pushing the lampshade against the wall. Just a light touch of your finger anywhere on the base or on the curved stand (or even the little metal cap on top of the frosted glass shade) turns them on...to three levels of brightness in sequence. It has to be your actual finger not even your nail will do it. In addition, these lamps are slim and graceful, and the light they produce is warm and soft. Even my wife, who is cautious with new technology and has a very critical eye for design, gives them five stars.

The lamp looks beautiful. Except mine came damaged at the base. Upon reviewing how to return damaged items to Lamps Plus, they state that not only do you have to pay for the non-refundable shipping charges, you also have to pay for a new lamp to be delivered to you before they issue you a refund on your original merchandise (and, of course, after they inspect it). So, they are basically saying that you will have to foot another $20 (shipping + tax) for this lamp, which all of a sudden becomes a $110 lamp, instead of $90 (after shipping and tax), plus the hassle of having to call them to get a return merchandise authorization number, having to stand in line at the local post office to pay for this return, and having the additional waiting period for another lamp and your reimbursement. From now on, I will not be purchasing items from this company.

Its a little dim with a 60-watt but as long as its a little above you it makes a great reading light. It gives off a nice orange glow and makes a room feel homey. Sturdy and easy to put together.

This lamp wasn't expensive, but it's still not worth the price. The mica shade arrived with a dent in it--and since the packing was excellent, I have to assume the dent was there before it went into the carton. The on-off switch is not the normal style, pictured, but rather a weird, thin piece of metal about two inches long than hangs down because it doesn't seem intended for this particular lamp. The metal inside the shade is grey--not finished like the outer metal parts of the shade--so don't even think about getting this lamp if you plan to put it anywhere that people will be looking down on it.

The lamp is beautiful, but you have to be very gentle with the switch. We got two lamps and the switch one on of them broke within a few days, just from normal use. We are able to make it work, but have to turn it very gently so it doesnt fall off again.

While the lamp that arrived was close to the picture, the socket is crooked and therefore the shade was crooked. I eventually discarded the shade and replaced it with a clip-on. I still had to bend the clips so it would look straight.

I ordered 2 lamps and was very excited about this purchase! However.... when they came they had bent sockets. One was able to be fixed . The other one was so bent you could not pull it up what so ever. I returned the lamp and wanted another one. However they did not have one!!! So they stated it would be a few weeks. Well it came and it was a smaller lamp. So I returned that one!! They told me they would refund my money and I could go to another seller. Catch... they were much higher everywhere else. So I asked them to get my lamp!!!!!! Well it came in yesterday and it was the same lamp that was bent, the one I received first. So I kept the lamp went and bought a new piece. I had to take the lamp apart and found it was broken at the top, but decided to keep because with some cosmetic covering I could use it. This set is very pretty but it was a pain to get. BEWARE OF RETURN FEES. The lamps in person have a matte finish that has weird paint spots on it, reminds me of cheap "stone look" spray paint and are a much lighter brown. I think they oiled them down for the photo shoot. They also charge a $99 return fee on freight orders, not sure how large an order is before they consider it freight. I know it would cost me more $$ FEDEX to send these back than I paid for one of the lamps.

They have a note in the box that says you can return to the store, but don't believe that lie.

I have opened an A TO Z with AMAZON and hope that they will see my side of things.

Otherwise look elsewhere for your lamps.

This inline power switch really does its job well. The instructions are there for the rookie, and the only thing you need to concern yourself about is choosing the hot wire to cut into. In my case, the hot wire was marked so that you could easily tell that it was hot. I recently purchased a food dehydrator, and to my surprise, the only way to turn it off is to pull the plug. The new switch was a no-brainer, and I am very pleased with the results!

Received lamp. No problem with ordering and it arrived on time. Very difficult getting lamp out of the shipping box. I had to destroy the box and material surrounding the lamp. A real mess. However, my problem is with the lamp shade. The material has a 'run' on it, not unlike a 'run' in a lady's hose. Amazon unable to simply replace the shade without returning the entire product. I don't understand why a replacement shade can not be provided without repacking with new box and support material and returning the lamp and shade. The lamp is fine, really nice, but spoiled in appearance by the less than perfect shade. So, purchasers be advised that an 'expensive' lamp comes with problems. Amazon after a few attempts to resolve was as helpful as possible. They sent a new lamp where all I had to do was easily remove the replacement shade without tearing up the contents. But again, the replacement had the same problem. I am not confusing the seam in the shade with this 'run' in the fabric. I would advise that overall this is a very nice base to a lamp, however, the product must be review as a whole. I can only surmise that the MFG accepts poor quality control as its standard or just doesn't care. I do, so take heed.

There are so many overpriced light fixtures on the market. It was good to find these simple lights. Definitely worth the price. Only comment I have is the mast could be a bit more firmly screwed into the base. It doesn't cause a problem really, but the "feel" is just a bit less solid than it could be when you touch or move it.

OK I want to be perfectly clear. The one star rating is only due to the sub standard condition the WIRING on my oder came with. When I first unboxed the lamp and set it up, it would not turn on. I tried a few bulbs before I realised there was "ticking" coming from the inline switch on the cable, indicating to me something was loose. I grabbed my circuit tester and some tools, and moments later found that the switch had been improperly wired, and was barely connected at ALL, with one portion of bar wire loose and capable of touchingthe metal screw spindle that holds the switch together. Had there been a fire or electrocution, I may not have been as reasonable with this review as I plan to be.

After reinstalling the switch onto the cable in a manner consistent with its design, I find this lamp to be quite delightful, and perfect for an ambient bedroom light. It is appealing to look at, and small enough to be unobtrusive. I plan on buying more, but I will examine the switching on each one prior to "installation". Maybe mine was a one off accident, but I'm not taking chances.

It's so cool to enter what you want in your search engine, and then voila -there it is! I entered 'matchstick bamboo lamp', because that's what I wanted to create subdued lighting in two areas of my bedroom. They go great with my Asian theme but they could be used in any contemporary scheme. Bamboo is such a great renewable resource. Be sure to use no greater than 40 watt bulbs; anything higher gets blown.

The lamps are not expensive but do not look cheap. I ordered two of these for the narrow sofa table/board which fits against the wall. These are perfect accent lights ( take a 25W bulb) on either end of the table, and the wicker goes with our wicker woven seat on a black bench used for a side table and the woven seats on the counter stools. Even though we live on Cape Cod, our decor is not real "beachy" , but just casually traditional.

I bought because it looked nicer than the typical, metal-or-70s-style mood lighting lamps. And because it was cheap.

This lamp looks great in person and does a good job of acting as a spotlight for the curio cabinet on which I've placed it. I love that it fits in with the decor of my apartment and really looks elegant and more expensive than it actually was. Great product that still works!
