As you can see, the lamp is cute. Get a "warm" colored bulb for it to match the color of the small bulb inside the lamp.

The only problem with it is that the shade frame interferes with the knob/switch used to turn the lights on and off.

I am trying to add a little color to my very drab apartment; this light will definitely help in that area. I love the color combination; very exciting. I have placed the lamp on a counter in the bathroom and am using it as a nightlight. Works great.

We bought two of these for the bedroom my two boys share -one to go by each bedside. They are just the right size for a bedside lamp. Cords do stick out the back but that didn't bother me. The lower light (inside the base) is a great night light/low mood light. I use it if one of the boys wakes up in the night. Wish the base were just a bit bigger, though -these can tip over easily if the boys brush them.

This fan has that desirable antique look combined with an amazingly low cost. The heavy base contributes to its sturdiness. However, when the box says "for large rooms", it means the fan doesn't have a low speed, and it isn't quiet.

The fan works well; I have had it for about a month now. I have had no problems with it so far. Assembly was straightforward. You will need to have a screwdriver. I found that putting the grill together was the most difficult part. There is a band that connects the front and back grill together, but it is hard to squeeze it tight enough to screw it together if you are by yourself. I did end up doing all by myself, but it would have been nice to have someone else's help. The base is sturdy, because it comes with a weight that screws into the bottom (you cannot see itit is under the metal part of the base). The three speeds are nice, but I only really use it on low or high. It is not a silent fan, but it is not noisy either. It sounds like a normal fan and has a pleasant fan noise (no high pitches). It is definitely not overbearing. The bronze color is nice; it is very neutral and not too shiny. The plug needs a three prong outlet, and the cord is not very long. I wouldn't want the cord longer though, because it would look messy.

Bought this fan as I am tired of the crappy plastic fans we usually own that always end up failing, not to mention they are just plain ugly. The quality of this fan is fantastic, it looks very elegant, and moves a very impressive amount of air. I'm shocked at some of the reviews on here stating this is difficult to assemble, it took me about 3 minutes, and most of that is just unpacking the pieces. There is really nothing difficult about it at all. Naturally, everyone seems to have a different perception of "loud" with this as well. Compared to your standard box fan, it is slightly quieter than them and has a smoother tone. I normally sleep with a box fan on the floor on high for the noise, and when switching to this fan I can hear significantly more outside noises and creaks from the house then with the box fan, it took a little getting used to the first couple of nights.

Overall very impressed, and I'll be ordering a couple more for other rooms in our home.

After reading the good and bad reviews on this fan I decided that the good outweighed the bad and I made the purchase. Total time to assemble the entire fan was maybe 10 minutes. The only tool you'll need is a screwdriver (Phillips or flathead, the screw works with both).

My first concern upon reading the reviews was the need for 12 hands to put the fan screen together...well, I only have 2 and it didn't seem hard at all. There's a trick to it, the key is to keep the band on the screen and not take it completely off like the directions tell you to do. Unscrew the connector completely and leave the band sitting on the screen, put the front up against the back and shift the band to cover both pieces, hold it together and screw the connector back together. It was easy for me to do by myself but if you have someone else to hold it in place it will be even easier.

I turned it on and was actually surprised at how quiet it was. From other reviews I was expecting the 1970's box fan, super loud, whirring sound booming from the fan but was very pleasantly surprised. Really the only thing that I'd like to see different is the cord. The cord would look nicer if it went down the stand on the inside but nope, it hangs from the fan motor on the outside. That's alright I suppose but there's a cord clamp that's supposed to hold the cord down against the stand but if you touch the cord at all the clamp flies off the stand, goes a couple feet every time so I think I'll just leave it off now, I don't feel like chasing it all over the place. Another thing about the cord is I with it was longer (it seems really short). It's not too big of a deal but it's easier than having to go get an extension cord to move it that extra foot I needed.

So, overall I think it's a great purchase and I'm already considering getting another!

The retainer ring that secures the back and front wire grates didn't fit quite right. I had to get a longer screw to secure it.

Other than that, it's an excellent fan, very quiet and it moves a lot of air, even on low setting.

Is this ICE Lava Lamp as cool as a regular Lava Lamp? Well, no -what could be? After all, the original Lava Lamp has been an object of fascination since the sixties, with its truly random and mesmerizing interaction of colored wax and oil.

But this ICE LL is a nice color-phasing LED lamp in the shape of the iconic groovinator.

We'll see how reliable the ICE proves to be; the electronic plasma LL was DREADFUL. I received several units DOA, and the one that did work out of the box died in a few months.

Happily the ICE seems to be more solidly built. You can set it to phase through various colors, sometimes a single red, blue, or green, other times a combination of these tints, creating additional pastels. Or you can set the lamp to glow pure white, perhaps to light a ceremonial occasion of some sort!

But I like the ICE better than the color-phasing LED tube it replaced on my cabinet, as the "ICE" crystals give the colors added depth and interest.

One thing the ICE offers over the original LL is instant operation -no hour warm-up required! And no incandescent bulbs to replace either...

I'll report back when and if the ICE malfunctions. In the meantime I consider it an enjoyable addition to my collection of color-phasing accent lamps, and I think you will too.

My 8 year old daughter really likes this lamp. It was a better price than other "lava"-like bedside/desk lamps, making it more affordable for a child's budget. She likes it just as much as the more expensive ones.

Packaging was pretty cool too.

There is a slight blemish on the base were the silver coating did not quite stick or got dinked. Maybe a little better QA by the manufacturer going forward would be nice? Still, for the price this was worth it.

Here we go!! This un-Lava light is certainly different than other lava lamps or their generic 'motion lamp' counterparts.... Basically the Lava Globe is filled with multifaceted plastic chips, with an LED light bar in the middle to the top of the globe.. the lights phase thru their color cycles.. and the chips emit different crystal like shapes in colors on the surrounding walls and ceiling....

It certainly doesn't use much electric thanks to it's LED technology...but the color cycle is repetitive and unchanging... a bit boring... no randomness about it.. and the white.. well.. it's just a bright white.. even less excitement.

If you are looking for the constant primordial ooze of change and randomness you'd get from the typical hot wax motion lamp or flowing glitter light... you will not get it here... even the vortex lamp has a bit more going on...

I'm giving a luke warm review though my girlfriend is intensely intrigued by it... (but then again, she's also intrigued by me.. so what can I say?)

Worked well for about 5 months and then the light output became very dim. I tried replacing the bulb with no improvement.

My problem does not appear to be unusual with other OTTlight products. Called their support and they were of no help. In fact, their customer service leaves A LOT to be desired.

The one star is a bit harsh, I suppose. So, I'll qualify it this way. Immediately after purchasing the lamp, I was impressed 5 stars. A couple of months later, I noticed that the light output seemed to be less but perhaps I'm imagining it. Wait 1 more month, and I'm certain the output is less, but still ok 3.5 stars. Move forward a couple more months and the lighting is anemic 2 stars. Call OTTlight for support, they absolutely stink and give me the run-around 1 star (lowest I could give).

Bottom line:

If I had reviewed this product right after it was purchased, it would have received 5 stars. The durability of this product is highly questionable in my experience. OTTlight appears uninterested in making it right. And, I've given them the opportunity. I even purchased a bulb at their suggestion.

Too much money for a disposable lamp. I'm looking elsewhere for a replacement.

Lamp gives a nice light, however the battery last very short time. It is a bit heavy too. I carry it along my other art supplies to class and sometimes I just leave it at home bc it is heavy to carry along w other things. To solve this I wanted to just leave it in my locker at school but then I realized the battery lasts very short. Oh well.

Okay, in short it is a mercury bulb lamp that give white light and takes 5-10 minutes to warm up to full power. It is not a spot light, work light or a photography light. This will only provide enough light for your hands, or to light up a sheet of notebook paper size space. That was what it was designed for and does it well. Another question is if it is good for painting or other colored art? Answer is, maybe. Paint in the light the art will be displayed in, the end.

So on to the important part, the battery. It is a 6v lead acid battery. Replacements can commonly be found at $10 or less. Now here is the rub, if this lamp ever completely discharges completely the battery will have been damaged. That is the nature of lead acid batteries. Sometimes it will charge again, but it won't ever last as long again. Don't be surprised if the battery has to replace if it discharged completely. Also remember to recycle both the dead battery and mercury bulb at a place that takes them, radio shack for example.

Another note. It should be possible to replace the batter with a different type of battery, like a lithium based battery. I would imagine this would cost a sack of pretty pennies.

These lamps were almost perfect. They were packaged very very well. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the shades didn't sit evenly. One was tilted, and the other one wasn't beveled enough to sit all the down this caused one shade to be higher than the other. I had to purchase some fine-grain sand paper, and with 20 minutes worth of sanding, I was able to correct the problem. It was a very cheap problem to fix ($2 for the sand paper), but it was still a hassle.

As for the aesthetics of both lamps, they are gorgeous. They look just like the photo. The construction is pretty durable, while the framing of the shades, like almost all lamps out there, are on the flimsy side. This can't be helped. It seems all lamps are made like this to reduce topside weight to keep the lamp from easily toppling over. Just to let you know, the shades are a long oval shape. They not circular.

As for lighting, both of them can easily brighten a room with the right bulbs. Since the lamp shades are thick, very little light will actually radiate horizontally. This allows a person to appreciate the lamps directly with their eyes without being blinded. Most of the light will be radiating towards the ceiling and down below. I used trial and error to find the correct intensity, and will pass my findings on to save you some time:

I used two CFLs emitting 1200 lumens (brightness) each, at 2700k (color).

This will provide a warm yellow light that will be soothing and ambient, yet bright enough to read and do homework perfect for the bedroom. If these lamps are being used in a living room or bigger space, I suggest going up to 1600 lumens instead.

I totally fell in love with them when I first saw them and even more when I received them ... they look great on my night stands ... perfect size ... I loved their shape which is elongated oval instead of round so they take much less space ... the shade are made of polyester while the black designs are velvety ... the make is slightly on the flimsy side but they are totally fine if you don't move them every now and then ... the color of the shades is definitely not white ... it's ivory more like the color of butter, actually a shade darker ... so don't go for them if you are specifically looking for black and white ... if you are fine with ivory, they are a very good value for money ...

This is a small table lamp. It is on a spring and does wiggle. It has an easy to use rocker on/off switch. If you were planning to use it for reading, it does not put out a lot of light. But it is a cute, fun lamp and my daughter is very happy with it on her bedside table.

The photo MAY be deceiving, they are not end table lamps as i originally wanted but i still use them because i love the design. Bought the pair of them for 60 dollars, and i cant complain they work and the quality is great. Read the product description for specs on size. This lamp is a bit expensive for the category that it is in. However, it is quite beautiful and much more elegant than the accompanying photo wood indicate. While I can't speak for the other finishes, the cherry rosewood choice is very striking. This is more mood lighting than practical lighting for a room, but if you are trying to create an elegant Asian feel, you can't go wrong here. For the quality level, it's a bit pricey, but aesthetically I am very satisfied.

Its a pretty enough piece at a distance, however soon as i took it out of the box it was obvious how poorly it was constructed and of what cheap materials. Its very cheap looking within 5ft or so. i got 2 of them as gifts if i cant return them then i will simply throw them away.

The look of the lamp is nice and the shade seems to be of good quality, but the base of the lamp is not even as strong as tin. It came dented up. I put this on a gift registry so I didn't pay for it, but if I had I would have been really disappointed. I'd say it's worth about $20, $40 tops. I'd recommend Ikea or Marshall's if you have them.
