We recently decided to decorate our bedroom in a beach motif. We had a very difficult time finding lamps for our nightstands that matched what we were looking for. I came across this lamp and thought it was beautiful, so I purchased two of them. The seller's photo does not depict the lamp's true beauty. I was dually impressed by the beauty and the quality of this product. The shell in the center of the lamp is beautifully sculpted and is multi-tone. The lamp shade is a creamy beige color and is oval in shape; these characteristics are difficult to determine in the photo. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to decorate their home in a beach motif.

I like these lamps. I thought I was getting 5 diopitor, but these are 3 diopitor (1.75X magnification). Nonetheless, they will do the job nicely. What I really like is that they stay in place once positioning them. The light is sufficient for very small electronics jobs. The clamp is well made, but sticks out in the back about an inch (desk cannot be fully up against the wall). Springs seem sufficient and covered with a plastic tube for better asthetics. All-in-all, it was a good purchase. Suggestion: Don't over tighten two wing nuts at the elbows -tighten only enough to hold the lamp in place and when the fixture gets much older; so they hold their position for many years. That way, you won't shorten and/or strip the gripping of the elbows joints.

The lamp is very well made and at a lower cost than most of the other lamps of this type. The magnifying glass is crystal clear even to the edges which is difficult to do on such a large glass at this price. The glass has a plastic cover to keep the magnifying class free of dust and dirt when you are not using it. And the lamp is bright enough for fine detailed work.

This lamp was a replacement for one purchased years ago, and is definitely an improvement. The circular lamp area is lighter weight and thus it moves much more easily. Also, I like the cover over the magnifying area to keep dust and fingerprints off the glass. I do hand work and a good light that can be easily positioned is a real plus. It is also great for all the reading I do. I can position it so the light falls just on the book and not in my eyes. It is definitely what I needed.

The glass is rather well constructed so that if you accidentally drop the bulb before you use it you just might save it from ruin, especially if you drop it onto a carpeted floor. A single light bulb lights a 10 foot by 10 foot room fairly well. Excellent!

Insert a new light bulb into the socket of the lamp (or whatever needs the light bulb) and screw it in until you feel that the bulb is snug and secure in the socket. Then turn on the lamp or whatever device you're using and--voilà! Your bulb works for the next 1,500 hours. That can be many months if you're careful with your energy bill.

The bulbs stay fresh for several months at least after you buy them; this is a great feature if you need to stock up on light bulbs for any reason. Obviously, these electric light bulbs must never go near water and or any other liquid. Dispose of them carefully so that any glass won't break and hurt anyone if they walk around barefoot in the house.

Overall, these 60 watt light bulbs by GE fit the bill very nicely. They are economical, easy to install and remove and they stay "fresh" for months after you purchase them. They take up very little room in any closet while you're waiting to use them, too.

I highly recommend these light bulbs for lamps or vanities that require 60 watt light bulbs.

If you want to pay over 4 bucks for 1 light bulb go ahead, otherwise buyer beware.

The photo MAY be deceiving, they are not end table lamps as i originally wanted but i still use them because i love the design. Bought the pair of them for 60 dollars, and i cant complain they work and the quality is great. Read the product description for specs on size. Seems as though the lamp shade is a bit bigger that it appears in the picture.

Just received this light and I'm very impressed so far. A few observations that weren't apparent from the product description provided:

1) Although the lamp is 19 inches long, the LED light strip is just 10 inches long (centered in the lamp) and consists of 54 tiny LED lights. However, there is good light dispersion and you get very good illumination of the music sheets on the piano.

2) An earlier review commented about a cheap on/off button in the center of the light. The manufacturer must have heard this complaint, because the switch is now a small and discrete toggle switch on the right side of the light.

3) The LED color specs aren't mentioned anywhere that I've seen, but I would say it's on the warmer side, ie around 3000K. Not as yellow as your typical incandencent lamp, but it's not a cold blue light either.

4) The lamp itself is actually 24V and the transformer is built into the plug-in adapter. The adapter will accept input voltage of 100-240V, and the cord is about 10 feet long.

Got this as a new piano light for our church. Looks great, very solid construction, and it does seem to produce light equivalent to a ~40W incandescent bulb (as claimed). The lamp has received fairly infrequent (4 services/week), gentle use during the past year. The "Achilles Heel" seems to be a cheap push-button on/off switch in the center of the light bar. We no longer get all LEDs fully lit without a lot of very, very gentle touching of the button multiple times to try to maximize the light output. It's to the point that I get to choose either (a) keep fussing with the switch before every service for almost a full minute, (b) pay another ~$200 for another lamp, or (c) do a little electronic surgery to replace the switch with something more reliable. It costs too much and looks too good to throw out, but it has become a pain because a 5-cent part is slowly failing.

Bought this a month ago. The lamp fits very well for my Yamaha console piano. But although the shade is 19" long, the actually LED light source is only about 10" or so. This gives poor lighting. Instead, I exchanged with the Conoco Piano Lamps version which looks very similar. The new one CONOCO Piano Lamp Adjustable 19" LED Piano Lamp, Black works much better with a lighting length of about 16" or so while the shade is the same 19". They have the clip on and upright (same as this one) versions on Amazon.

I ordered this and was disappointed that the LED strip in it is only on the center 10 inches, when the shade is 19". I then ordered the Conoco lamp that looks exactly like this lamp. The Conoco lamp has LEDs along the entire length of the shade, although they are spaced about an inch apart. The HoT lamp has a 10" strip with the LEDs spaced very closely together. I plugged them both in and compared the light from each. The Conoco lamp illuminates the sides of the music better, as you can imagine, given that there are LEDs along the entire length of the shade. The HoT lamp illuminates the center more brightly, but there is some fall off of illumination at the sides. The Conoco light is slightly yellower than the HoT light. I preferred the whiter light, but in the end, I returned the HoT lamp and kept the Conoco lamp. Both lamps seem to be constructed about the same, weigh about the same, and have similar finishes.

These replacement bulbs work,thats all I really ask for. Remember like all Halogen bulbs if you touch them with your bare hands they will burn out fast, so use a paper towel or wear clean gloves when you install them. Nine months later the first bulb burned out, less than stellar performance but since they were so cheap and within two feet of the lamp it took all of two minutes to change it. It is still a good deal but keep the extra bulbs handy you may need them.

I ordered a 6-pack of these bulbs from this seller. The package they came in is labeled 'Trisonic' and the bulbs look fine, and the rating for my IKEA desk lamp is corect. But they burn out faster than any other bulbs I've ever used! I've been lucky to get a couple of weeks usage out of each bulb. Two burned out within less than a week.

This lamp was very easy to assemble and looks great! I love the coloring. It worked great for the first few weeks and then began turning itself on and off. It would cycle itself through the settings without being touched. This was very strange. The only way to stop it was to unplug it completely. I guess it's great if you don't mind a constant change in light settings.

Ohio can be quite grey during the winter months. I purchased this lamp to add a bit of light to my office. Some of my co-workers have purchased "happy lights" like the HappyLight 4500 Sunshine Supplement Light System and found them to be useful in promoting a more cheerful disposition. The OttLite seemed to be a more economical and attractive happy light option so I purchased one.

I love that the shade can be extended and manipulated in various directions thanks to the flexible goose neck. When the goose neck is retracted and hidden in the base, the lamp resembles a flower and is quite stylish.

When compared to happy lights that my co-workers have, the OttLite is not as bright. In all fairness, I don't believe the OttLite's first purpose is a daylight simulator; it is more of a task light. I will note that while not as bright as lights that are produced as daylight simulators, the OttLite is still bright enough to cause some eye discomfort if the bulb is positioned in the line of vision.

When searching for my OttLite, I really wanted one with a black base. The product page said this was "tulip natural daylight lamp in black." I know people see colors differently. What is blue to me might be purple to another. When I received the lamp, I saw a shade of grey. When I looked at the product's box, the sticker indicated that it was "charcoal". If you are looking for a true black lamp, this is not it.

I ordered this one because it said BLACK, but it's actually labeled "Charcoal" and is a dark sparkly gray. Since I was trying to coordinate with some black desk accessories, I'm very disappointed. Since some listings showed "charcoal" and others showed "black" as the color, I expected a difference instead I got misled.

I bought two of these to go next to the bed. The light is really nice, strong and natural feeling, so really helpful if you have to study or work at night. I believe I paid $40 something for each, which is ok. One big con for me is the button, it can be very difficult to push in and turn on which is kind of annoying. They should have made the button stick out a bit, or have put the button on the electrical cord or something. One other thing, the power cord is black, which I think is thoughtless on a design like this (I purchased the pearl colour). They should have given it a white power cord for aesthetic purposes!

The concept of the lamp is great, it looks very modern, and bulb burns very bright. However, the on/off switch is poorly made. It broke after 2 presses. A quick dis-assembly revealed that the switch is made of cheap brittle plastic. I would not recommend this product. Thankfully, Amazon has a great return policy.

I really like the shape/size of this lamp. On my desk or on a night stand it doesn't appear bulky. When I'm reading I can bend the tulip bulb (the white part at the top) after extending it out it has a goose neck that's hidden.

The light cast has a very clean feel to my eyes. Not that yellowish look, but more like natural daylight which OttLite is known for.

Two things I would like to see different about this lamp:

1 The power button should have a rounder or circle shape versus being oval, which makes it a bit uncomfortable to turn on/off.

2 Elimination of any buzzing noise when the light is turned on. I can't tell if it's the light bulb or transformer. Kinda distracting when reading a book and you sit really close to it.

Overall I am really enjoying the lamp.

This is a very functional light no doubt. It gives excellent lighting and the flexible neck positions are a definite bonus.

However, prior to buying my first Tulip Lamp I read the reviews at Amazon & Ottlite and saw the frequent reference to the on/off switch design and hesitated to purchase on that basis.

I have other Ottlites folding desk lamp, floor lamps and that gave me confidence to buy my first Tulip light from Amazon a couple of weeks ago. Love the light, definitely superior. The switch is awkward and requires an unusual grip and pressure, but I thought okay.

I purchased a couple for my parents some 1,000 distant and again for me. My parents like the light and can deal with the switch.

Today I received my blue one directly from Ottlite, the others I ordered via Amazon, and the switch (which is flush to the base and you must press in to turn on) was collaspsed in with no spring motion to come out. It wasn't stuck, rather it was defective similar to what other reviewers had warned about.

I quickly called Ottlite to advise of the problem and I had to take pictures to send by email and they will get back to me. We'll see, probably fine but disappointing they have not acted to correct a widely known flaw. Also disappointed their Quality Control is so poor that they don't check product prior to shipping.

Net/net I think it is a VERY cool design with superior quality light IF IT CONTINUES TO WORK. Time will tell so the jury is out on this one.

Beautiful fixture, elegant, bright, and just lovely to look at. Very happy with the appearance of the fixture, however after we started putting the crystals on we realized the only way we would be able to change a light bulb would be to first remove the crystals, installed the bulb, and rehang the crystals. This is not a good design. The only way I can think of to make this a little less painful is to get bulbs with long life. Honestly, if I hadn't had the fixture already installed before I realized the issue, I would have returned it. This is a bad design and the first time one of the six blubs needs to be replaced I'm going to regret this purchase.

I find this thing to be amazing though I was thinking it would be a 360 degree black light. :( oh well its still sure to light up your room nicely. A little tip though when you try it for the first time and turn it on don't worry that it isn't lighting up, turn the lamp with the cord toward you and turn the bulb to the left gently of course and its good to go. Though probably should not have it plugged into anything to reduce shock, or shorting it.

I got this long time ago for an entertainment room (along with another model). This model is quite heavy compared to most of the other models out there which are mostly have a flat ballast. This one is quite thick over all, and unlike the flat models, uses an electronic starter (which will have to replaced after so many usesthat being said I've had this for 5 years and haven't had to change it yet.) Unfortunately the power on this item is quite low and doesn't have any real unf to it like the longer models (this one uses an 18" tube) Even in a dark room, it struggles to provide enough energy to make things glow more than a few feet away.

Really, I would suggest getting at least a 24" blacklight (which amusingly are cheaper than this!) if you want something with a bit more power.

The one nice thing about this product is it has foil glued under the tube to reflect the light back forward.
