Got this for my husband a few years ago. He likes cranes and Asian themes. The quality is a little cheap/lightweight, BUT it has lasted perfectly for 3 years so far, so I can't complain. It is pretty easy to dust and clean and the light illuminates the paper quite nicely. My husband still likes it and keeps it on his nightstand. Would definitely buy again.

I like these lamps. I thought I was getting 5 diopitor, but these are 3 diopitor (1.75X magnification). Nonetheless, they will do the job nicely. What I really like is that they stay in place once positioning them. The light is sufficient for very small electronics jobs. The clamp is well made, but sticks out in the back about an inch (desk cannot be fully up against the wall). Springs seem sufficient and covered with a plastic tube for better asthetics. All-in-all, it was a good purchase. Suggestion: Don't over tighten two wing nuts at the elbows -tighten only enough to hold the lamp in place and when the fixture gets much older; so they hold their position for many years. That way, you won't shorten and/or strip the gripping of the elbows joints.

The lamp is very well made and at a lower cost than most of the other lamps of this type. The magnifying glass is crystal clear even to the edges which is difficult to do on such a large glass at this price. The glass has a plastic cover to keep the magnifying class free of dust and dirt when you are not using it. And the lamp is bright enough for fine detailed work.

This lamp was a replacement for one purchased years ago, and is definitely an improvement. The circular lamp area is lighter weight and thus it moves much more easily. Also, I like the cover over the magnifying area to keep dust and fingerprints off the glass. I do hand work and a good light that can be easily positioned is a real plus. It is also great for all the reading I do. I can position it so the light falls just on the book and not in my eyes. It is definitely what I needed.

I search and searched for beautiful, elegant bedside table lamps and am soooo happy with these! NOTE: the shade that came with these lamps (i purchased 2) are white. the picture is very deceiving as they look khaki. However, I couldn't be happier with the white. Many other retailers also sell this lamp at a higher price but listed with a white shade. I was planning to change the shade to a white one anyway.... that said, its great I don't have to! The shade is also a beautiful linen fabric. Overall lamp is much more beautiful in person. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Tiffany Style Banker Butterfly Desk Lamp Reviews

I ordered this light more than a month ago. I wish I had seen the photos that were posted later showing the colors with the lamp turned off and on. I expected the lamp to be reddish & green as shown, and was SO disappointed when it arrived. The end borders were ORANGE [not red] and worse, they were a very light orange when lighted. And the butterfly wasn't green but a bright blue. That's why I rate it 4 stars rather than 5. It sits in a room that's predominantly brown & red, so the colors really clashed. I solved the problem by buying 2 bottles of translucent stained glass paint [red & green] for around $5.60 at a large crafts store [Michaels]. It's fast drying & cleans up with water. Several coats of red on the inside of the orange borders turned it to a deep orange-red. The lighter butterfly wings took 1-2 coats of green and the darker body & other wings needed several coats. I'm very pleased with the result and now enjoy having the light on my desk.

I am extremely happy with this lamp. It is exactly what I was looking for as an accent piece to provide light in a dark area of my living room. The lamp is well made, and I have received several compliments on it. Be aware though that the lamp is definitely blue-themed. (See my photos posted under customer images above.)

I was very excited to find this lamp as it is almost a perfect match to a floor lamp and table lamp to complete my set. Unfortunately, the color description of amber and rust, which I was looking for, was an incorrect description as I ended up with a bright blue butterfly. I really love this lamp and am hoping the colors vary by lamp since it is cut glass. I plan to return the blue lamp that was delivered and purchase a new one hoping the butterfly will have better colors in it.

My lamp arrived today and it is very nice, however the shade was squished and Amazon won't replace the shade without sending the whole lamp back. I don't want to deal with the whole mess, so I guess I'm out the expense of buying another shade for it. Pretty Tiffany Peacock Table Lamp -1474 Review

The base of the lamp (peacock's body) is of a nice design but the frill on top of it's head broke off very easily when removing from the box. Super glue to the rescue! However, the lighted portion (peacock's feathers) didn't do much for me because somehow I was under the impression the bulb in the back would somehow only illuminate the feathers and not white light all over the back of the wall. Major distraction to the lamp. Very difficult finding a spot to subdue the back lighting. I only gave this a 4 star rating due to the light showing in the back.

Unique design and good quality materials used. However, it does not deliver in terms of brightness and had to return it. It would be a good reading lamp but don't expect it to brighten up even a part of a small bedroom. 4-5 of these might do it in a small bedroom. I really liked the design and uniqueness of this lamp and was ready to order tall floor version for living room and another small one for the bedroom but can't justify the price for the lumens you get. Looking forward to 2nd generation of it using newer, brighter LEDs if they ever make one. More expensive coral lamp from qisdesign supposed to be brighter but looking at pictures online it does not seem that much better.

This light is pretty much perfect. It lets you touch each lighting piece and turn each one on and off individually. This is a very cool design that lets you have different lighting settings in a very neat way. At night, I leave one or two keys on to give me a night light. Impresses everyone. Worth the money!

Aladdin Aluminum Shelf Style Lamp Reviews

This a circular wick, center draft, mantle lamp and is considerably different than the flat-wick lamps most people are familiar with.

I've had mine a few years and mostly use it as a 5,000 BTU space heater whenever my regular 10,000 BTU kero heaters are overkill. The mantles are expensive and even with careful use fall apart after a couple of weeks so I cut out a small disk of catalytic screen from Mannings kero heater website, pressed it in my palm until convex shaped and wired it (24ga.) into an old mantle frame and have used that for years. It glows orange and helps get all the kerosene vapor reacted with oxygen for a clean burn just like a mantle would. (I've since learned that the mantles I have are of poor quality/improper manufacture and well made ones last much longer.)

Every week or two the wick gets carboned-up and burns poorly so I have to disassemble the lamp and trim it with a special tool that makes a mess of soot and ash to clean up and after 6 to 8 such trimmings the the wick gets too short and needs replaced at over $10 ea. If only they'd use fiberglass-topped wicks like kerosene heaters it would be a vast improvement. The mantles you need to remove and replace often are fragile and expensive (formerly $6.50/ea. and now in early 2010 unavailable-(ebay $20/ea.)-due to more production problems) and the thin chimney glass is fragile. Also the rolled seam near the top of the fuel tank leaked until I sealed it with leftover 'redkote' tank coating so I couldn't fill it the whole way at first. A second lamp I bought didn't have that problem.

You need to be very careful during startup, removing and replacing that fragile mantle/chimney assembly and raising the wick gradually to keep from sooting up the chimney. It is very bright though, about like a 60 watt incandescent bulb, and throws off a lot of heat with absolutely no odor (I've used it to heat my 8'x8' dome tent when winter camping 16F to 55F).

I started using old 1.75 liter plastic liquor bottles with a plug-in pour spout for refilling the lamp while it's still burning(ingenious;"pat-pat"). When the tank's full the spout's vent hole plugs and kero stops flowing so it's even better than a funnel, no chance of overfilling, but I have to shield it from the lantern's heat or the plastic melts.

Compared to kerosene pressure lanterns the aladdin is turning out to be preferable due to it's silent operation, no pumping, and in-use 'refillability'; but looses points for its expensive wicks and mantles.(And fragile chimneys another cracked while I carefully washed it; I think that's four now.)

After Harry, my klutzy cat, knocked over my very old but serviceable gooseneck floor lamp and broke it,I searched quite awhile for a suitable replacement.

I needed a reliable, adjustable, relatively unobtrusive reading lamp that would take one of those twisty flourescent bulbs (because they produce much less heat).

So far, I like this lamp. It's well-constructed, attractive, and provides direct focused light for reading. The shade is kind of small (about 7 by 4 inches)but that's adequate for my needs.

The base is quite heavy enough to provide good stability. No assembly, other than screwing the base on, is required. It is well-packaged,to prevent damage in shipping.

Note that there are three different finishes available for this product,

although I believe Amazon does not specifically indicate this. I ordered the brass version, not the "bronze" finish Amazon's site pictured. Check "House of Troy" to see all finishes.

This lamp is well made with a good weight. Sometimes the less expensive ones can be tippy. The finish is nice and the multi positioning shade makes it great for reading...the purpose I bought it for.

This House of Troy lamp arrived rapidly, and that is all the good I can say about it. The long upright lamp support wobbles in the base, and the adjustable-height bar that raises and lowers the reading lamp cannot be secured in one position. It slides down, under its own weight.

This isn't even worth the one star it gets, and I am returning it within the next two days. I wouldn't keep it if I'd paid only 40.00 for it.

I adore this lamp. It sits on a console table in my entryway. So different. One comment: Every photo I've seen of it appears to be two-tone silver and brass. However, the actual lamp, at least mine, is far more subtle. While there is a slight tone difference between base, stem and shade, it's not as harsh as shown in photo. Beautiful, distinct lamp!
