For quite some time I've been searching for a touch light with fairies on the glass. Believe me, it hasn't been an easy find! Only fairies would do since this is what my granddaughter collects and it's planned for a special Christmas present. The blue and silver colors in the lamp complement each other. It arrived in great condition and I am almost as pleased as I'm sure my granddaughter will be! Though I bought it from another company through Amazon, the experience went smoothly as always.

This touch lamp is absolutely stunning. I have a fun fairy motif in my room as I am surrounded by males throughout the house and I wanted something feminine but male friendly. I put the lamp together myself with no problem but had it turning on all by itself until I did some research and found it needed its own power source. I ran a power surge protector under the bed and its been perfect ever since. The glass with the fairy image is actual glassand the metal is finished very nicely giving it a very refined and classy look. This lamp is truly a masterpiece.

This lamp is a touch lamp, but it is much larger than many of the others I have seen. The glass for the shades has a fairy beautifully displayed on each piece and the moon rises above her lovely face. It is blue and purple, and I adore the detail and brightness this piece uses for the glass itself. Ahh, but what's even better is that it is a touch lamp.... it required 3 25 what Type B lamp bulbs and has a three tap setting. It is glorious because it looks very feminine, antique-like, but with brushed chrome finish. What can I say? It's PERFECT! You will not regret purchasing this item. It arrived packed in packing peanuts, bubble wrap, and wrapped in plastic and cardboard where needed. Nothing was broken and it arrived swiftly. It's a piece I'll cherish forever. Well done ABC Market (applauding).

This is a beautiful lamp. It is easy to put together and even came with its own lightbulbs. It is sturdy and the dimming features are awesom. I love the way the lights through the glass makes the prettiest shadows on the wall. BUT it is limited by its wattage. It is not very bright at all and will not light an entire room.

Probably would work fine for the type of bulb that fits it BUT they don't bother to tell you it does not fit a standard size bulb. The bulb fitting ring is much smaller than standard, so i don't know what bulb it was actually built to fit.

Before you buy these lamps #1) check the refund option from the seller, and #2) make sure you'll be happy with something much darker than these pictures. I ordered a set from a different seller. I give him 5 stars because he said he was very sorry the lamps were not like the pictures Ashley was using and he didn't know what they looked like (unopened box). He gave me the option of a full refund (including return shipping) or he would refund the price of the defective lamp.

The pictures the Ashely company sends out show an off-white globe and light tan shade which would've perfectly matched my sofa. That is NOT what they are selling. (I even asked the nearby Ashely home store twice in a space of one year if they carried them in the store so I could see them. "No" was the answer both times. Now I know why.) As you can see from my pictures, the shade is mix of copper/gold, and the globe is medium tan, light brown. The globe also has specks of dark brown paint (specks matched in the shade) and unattractive gold tone paint lightly brushed on the top and bottom of the globe. I think this is to make it blend with the shade better (which it does) and possibly to make the 4 glass seams less noticable. (If it didn't have the extra paint, they would be obvious. Two seems next to the arms would've been hidden and made sense. Four seems running top to bottom do not.) The metal part is also flecked with green, just so you know.

Finally, neither lamp had exactly even arms. One I could live with. After a few days of looking at in on my table, loving the night light feature (what I was shopping for), I decided the colors coordinated went enough with my accent decor and I would keep it. (I listed the defective lamp on Craigslist, no interest, so it was donated to charity.)

In a nutshell, I ordered a set of these from a different seller who did the honorable thing by offering a full refund, or allowing me to only pay for the lamp that wasn't defective. (Another great thing about Amazon. Even if I hadn't gotten a reputable seller here, I could've gone to Amazon customer service and submitted a complaint. I buy a lot of things through Amazon, and have never regretted any purchase. Even the few I had to send back or the one other time I wanted a refund. Amazon took care of it.)

I decided to keep one lamp, however what I received was NOT what I was expecting color-wise at ALL. I was pretty irritated when I first opened the box, so I'm trying to save other people the same irritation (and return/refund process). In the END I decided I liked the gold/copper colors since they tie-in well with my other accent pieces and the inlay on the living room table. (I wanted something with an off-white or very light tan base and shade for more light, and to match my sofa. The bird wings in the picture are the color.) I still think the way the globe was splattered and globbed with paint looks a kinda tacky. I was also not expecting green flecks on the metal, but luckily I have some green in every room, so it was okay. I really wanted a lamp with a night light, and I love that feature. None of these pictures give that effect. I'd probably have to take one in the evening showing most of the room. With this large a globe, it does an excellent job of providing comfortable light with either or both bulbs on. (Please note, I went to Walmart and bought the brightest bulb I could get, 2700 lumens, because the shade was so much darker than what I was using with other lamps. That added on another $8-$9, but it's supposed to last over a decade. We'll see.) Make sure you look at the pictures I've uploaded and click on them to enlarge before purchasing. AND check your seller's refund/return policy.

***Update 9/2013. Months later, I love the copper shade with dark flecks and wish the globe were the same tone (not beige) without the spray paint (but I can see why they used it 'cause the beige would not match). The unexpected green tinge on the iron I now find kinda interesting. I like the lamp I kept very much for the styling and excellent nightlight feature which is just the right amount of light. However, it's dishonest of the Ashley company to continue advertising that does not show the colors accurately or the spray paint on the globe, so I'm leaving the 3 star rating. Since my seller was so great to work with, I am happy with my purchase. I donated the lamp with the defective arm to a church fundraiser, where an older lady bought it for $25. I wouldn't have give $2 for it. I hope she's still happy with her purchase.

The lamp is about 18 inches high and about 8 wide and widest point of shade.

The shade is a laughable to the nth degree. The glue to hold it on is none existent.

Ordered this light to replace the standard light on my commercial sewing machine table. Very well made, albeit a tad more expensive than I think it is worth. Regardless, it gives plenty of bright white light and the flexible conduit is very heavy duty. Another great advantage is that the LED's don't produce heat. This makes a significant difference in your comfort level when it is hot and your head is six inches away from your sewing light. Overall it is probably the best sewing light I have ever used.

I was looking for a durable LED-based task light for an office situation and this lamp fit the bill. It doesn't wow you by the amount of light it outputs but it worked for my situation where I needed to illuminate a small workspace. Keep in mind that this lamp will need to be fitted with a plug on the end if you are not wiring it into a sewing machine power box like it was intended to be. I am pleased with the durable construction and the overall quality given the price.

I love this light. I just wish they weren't so expensive. It comes with a base that you must drill a hole for in whatever you plan to mount it to but, in my mind, that just adds to its flexibility. I'm using mine in my garage attached to the side of a cabinet above my workbench. I can position it anywhere I need it. I plan on buying another and mounting it to my equipment rack in my media room. I need the extra light when making connections to the back of my A/V gear. Great light!

Anyway, I bought a yellow 3-prong HD Leviton plug at ACE and bolted the lamp to a 2" Spring Clamp for use in my studio. Extremely versatile without the base. I'm very impressed with the solid construction of this unit.

Is this ICE Lava Lamp as cool as a regular Lava Lamp? Well, no -what could be? After all, the original Lava Lamp has been an object of fascination since the sixties, with its truly random and mesmerizing interaction of colored wax and oil.

But this ICE LL is a nice color-phasing LED lamp in the shape of the iconic groovinator.

We'll see how reliable the ICE proves to be; the electronic plasma LL was DREADFUL. I received several units DOA, and the one that did work out of the box died in a few months.

Happily the ICE seems to be more solidly built. You can set it to phase through various colors, sometimes a single red, blue, or green, other times a combination of these tints, creating additional pastels. Or you can set the lamp to glow pure white, perhaps to light a ceremonial occasion of some sort!

But I like the ICE better than the color-phasing LED tube it replaced on my cabinet, as the "ICE" crystals give the colors added depth and interest.

One thing the ICE offers over the original LL is instant operation -no hour warm-up required! And no incandescent bulbs to replace either...

I'll report back when and if the ICE malfunctions. In the meantime I consider it an enjoyable addition to my collection of color-phasing accent lamps, and I think you will too.

My 8 year old daughter really likes this lamp. It was a better price than other "lava"-like bedside/desk lamps, making it more affordable for a child's budget. She likes it just as much as the more expensive ones.

Packaging was pretty cool too.

There is a slight blemish on the base were the silver coating did not quite stick or got dinked. Maybe a little better QA by the manufacturer going forward would be nice? Still, for the price this was worth it.

Here we go!! This un-Lava light is certainly different than other lava lamps or their generic 'motion lamp' counterparts.... Basically the Lava Globe is filled with multifaceted plastic chips, with an LED light bar in the middle to the top of the globe.. the lights phase thru their color cycles.. and the chips emit different crystal like shapes in colors on the surrounding walls and ceiling....

It certainly doesn't use much electric thanks to it's LED technology...but the color cycle is repetitive and unchanging... a bit boring... no randomness about it.. and the white.. well.. it's just a bright white.. even less excitement.

If you are looking for the constant primordial ooze of change and randomness you'd get from the typical hot wax motion lamp or flowing glitter light... you will not get it here... even the vortex lamp has a bit more going on...

I'm giving a luke warm review though my girlfriend is intensely intrigued by it... (but then again, she's also intrigued by me.. so what can I say?)

After many years of dissatisfaction with my bedside lighting, I finally found the perfect lamps. No more fumbling under the shade to awkwardly turn on/off the lights, easy assembly, and the extra outlets will be perfect for charging the cell phone and the alarm clock. The shade isn't huge and is flat in the front and back nice. After a recent stay at an upscale hotel, I noticed the extra outlet plugs on the base along with the rocker on/off switch and knew I wanted lamps designed this way. I looked at the local home improvements stores plus Lamps Plus for this style, but only found the basic or expensive decorator lamps. These lamps were shipped free/standard and arrived 3 days after ordering.

I'm very disappointed with this lamp. The description states that the shade is "Art Glass", but it is plastic, and there were chips and scratches on the plastic shade. The Knurl Nut (shade post) screwed out of the Harp (shade holder) the first time I detached the shade. The lamp is made in China; not stated in the description. I paid $79.20; not worth it.

I will start with my only con. The color of the panes on the edges of the lamp that I received is a quite bit darker blue and not the very pale blue pictured so minus 1 star. When lit the color lightens, however. Overall, very beautiful coloring and design regardless, and many kudos and thx to the lady who labored in China for her artistry and capturing the aura of peace and tranquility. The base is very solid and detailed. The item was received quickly and safely although the styrofoam was not taped together well. The lamp is small in stature and keep that in mind for the location intended, but I plan to buy a few more in different varieties. It does not bother me in the least that I did not spend $1500 for a Tiffany lamp and the glass is perfect...ignore the comment about cheap plastic...not so, and more likey a sign of inner negativity.

I bought this product as a gift for my husband who loves to build models but has had trouble seeing the small parts lately. He has only had it a month or so, so I can't comment on durability. That said, it arrived quickly and in perfect working order. The light is not only bright, it's enclosed which is a great point for him as he works with tools right next to it (and thwacking the bulb would be an easy thing to do). It attaches easily and the cord is long enough to reach the 6 or so ft. to the outlet. It took him all of 5 minutes to set it up. The magnification is great! I've even used it to read tiny print on a bottle that I couldn't quite make out.

Highly recommended.

Mostly a decent lamp but a huge complaint of mine is that it refuses to stay in position where I need it. Tightening the knobs doesn't even come close to helping. I had to add a weight to the light to get it to somewhat cooperate but is still quite a pain to use while soldering because of that. Otherwise the light is good and the magnification is good.

I live in Wisconsin and our winters are cold, snowy, cloudy and just overall nasty which leads a lot of people to feel depressed especially during the winter. I purchased this lamp to help alleviate possible Seasonal Affective Disorder. A friend had a different lamp with the same 27W 6500K CRI 80 CFL bulb in it and I was impressed with that one but it was made of mostly plastic, so decided to give the mostly metal one a try. This lamp works but I have to say I'm somewhat disappointed.

Positives:

Light output seems decent enough if you stare into it (I kind of thought it would be brighter though)

The lamp body is about 1/2 metal and 1/2 plastic, more quality materials than most products these days

Negatives:

I was unaware from the description that this lamp is only adjustable up and down at the top screw near the head of the lamp and the middle screw at the middle of the lamp. The head of the lamp does not pivot from side to side like almost all desk lamps do (this is the first one I've ever had that doesn't. This is VERY inconvenient and makes this lamp not very adjustable for a lot of purposes. The lamp also does not adjust in a circular motion around the base (again most other desk lamps do turn). Whoever designed this lamp was not very 'bright'! (my attempt at a lame joke) :)

Upon arrival, the plastic parts (the black parts seen in the picture) are discolored. This was shipped in the winter and it appears the cold temperature affected the plastic somehow as parts of it are white which doesn't come off so it looks rather used.

Concensus:

I probably would not purchase this again. Yeah, the metal is nice but having metal in lieu of a lamp head that pivots and a lamp that is able to turn at least a little is not worth the trade off for me. I would opt for a plastic 27W 6500K lamp with a head that is adjustable. I also wanted to make a comment on a previous review that said this lamp is a touch lamp...it is not. It has a normal black switch on the base of the lamp which seems to work well. I haven't really had any problems yet with the lamp being tippy, but I have noticed that when it is adjusted to a higher height it wobbles if you move the table/desk even a little bit. For those that are wondering too...the diameter of the base of the lamp is 7.5" and the lamp is about 29-30" high when raised to it's higher level.

I liked this lamp so much I purchased two. As another noted; it can topple if extended but I've found where it balances best and left it that way it has a nice burnished red wood look along with a brushed chrome 8 inch base and bulb hood. Mine have an outlet in the base; can plug in up to 150 watt item (with my model) such as a desk clock or perhaps charge your cell phone. This particular lamp fits in nicely with cherry wood, mahoganyand with traditional furniture as well as wicker and bamboo; many things. love it and after using them for a year or more, the light is still just fineputs out plenty of light. My dog knocked one over a couple of timesand its still working.

Hi; Now been using the 2 lamps for over 3 years. I agree with others that the design of adjustments is cheaply done but they look sharp and still do with minor dusting They work great and the bulbs have not needed replacement. I rarely adjust them and if I want to turn the lamps light over another area they are light in weight to do so. I use one for desk or nightstand and a second one is positioned on a craft table. They were worth what I paid. IF I needed a lamp that often needed adjustment I would avoid these and look for a classic design made to hold up to that but mine are at a perfect height and again, I simply manually (what's that?? :D) turn the entire lamp to shine on. The outlet at the base is great for charging thingslove the feature.

Overall I'm very pleased with this lamp. I bought it to replace a "regular" lamp that I'd used with a screw-in Ott-Lite bulb. The Ott-Lite's light level was good for a few weeks, but it faded fast, and then it refused to die, leaving me in the frustrating position of having to decide when to pull the plug. Talk about SAD.

A few notable features of the Executive Sunlight lamp:

*The light level is excellent and with not-infrequent use mine has stayed that way for a year.

*It's handsome. The brushed-nickel metal base, hood, and joints look substantial. The reddish "wood" finish is an obvious fake, but because it's dark you have to look pretty hard to notice.

*It's adjustable with two thumbscrews--primitive, but straightforward. If you extend the lamp head as far as possible from the base, it'll topple over with very little provocation. However, I've seen lots of adjustable lamps that won't stand up at all with the lamp head extended. In any case, in this lamp the bulb is well protected by the hood.

*These are "touch" lamps with the mechanism on the base. Mine shorted out when I walked across a wool carpet and it sparked when I touched it. I was amazed at how good the customer service was, though. I called to get a replacement switch, thinking I'd fix it myself, and they just sent a new lamp, no questions asked, no charge. Now I have the old one plugged into a separate on/off switch. It works fine.

For me, the charms of this lamp well outweigh the quirks. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

I bought 2 of those lamps , both broke within a year, the pastic is cheap , this shouldn't happen in the first year !!! The plastic snaped above the base , strange !!

I would recomend the real wood walnut finish ,wood lasts longer than cheap plastic ,Grandrich ES-217 27-Watt Full Spectrum Desk Lamp, same lamp diffrent manuf. a bit more expensive.I just bought this one , hope is a better one , my friend has one for 5 years still working , no brake in the wood !!!

I bought this lamp at Costco when I was a college student, so it's not like I was looking for the best lamp in the universe, but it's been years since then and I have had no urge to buy a new lamp because this one fulfills all my needs perfectly. I am an artist so I was looking for a bright light so I could draw at my computer desk. It's definitely bright enough for that. Every other light in the room can be off and I can still draw and color perfectly comfortably. (With the natural shade of light, colors don't become distorted.)

I haven't had to replace the bulb yet, and it has been nothing but completely reliable.

The fake wood finish has sustained a couple small scrapes (you can see a light-colored material underneath) but has held up pretty well, and the metal parts do not yet show any wear, even though I've moved several times since I bought the lamp.

I can see how better adjustability could be nice, but I rarely feel the need to adjust this lamp since the light it casts easily covers my entire desk area.

The only problem is that, since all you have to do to turn it on is touch the base, my cat sometimes turns it on in the middle of the night while walking on my desk.

I had a similar lamp, made by the same company, and gave it to my wife. She liked it so much I bought this one for myself. They are both sensational. Most people don't give much thought to the quality of the light in our working environment, but natural light is far superior to artificial light.

The lamps were a perfect hit for my daughter and her fiance. Matched great with all the new decor in their Condo. I really shopped for these lamps and I got the best from Amazon (Lamps Plus), goes to show you that all the time wasted I found them here first and then hunted, never again.
