Shade arrived broken in shipment. Called vendor (Jack's Country Store) and they replaced it no charge, no hassle. Great lamp: bright, quiet and if you follow the instructions CAREFULLY it works like a charm. Suggest buying a back-up mantle as they are fragile and break easily especially if you are not yet used to them. More than worth the extra care given the amount of light that is produced.Once you have used, enjoyed an Aladdin lamp you will never again be satisfied with a standard kerosene lantern/light. Highly recommend.

The idea of this night light is great. It lightly glows orange, and can also be taken off it's base, making it portable and glowing a bright LED light. The LED light is very bright, which makes for easy maneuvering around the house at night. However, when the penguin is on it's base with the orange light, it doesn't seem to provide enough light to my kids' room at night. It's a good idea, but just not bright enough when on its base.

My daughter loves it and I like the amber colour, it doesn't disturb her sleep like some of the brighter ones do. Don't let your child carry it around as a flash light, my daughter dropped it once and only the amber night light works now!

My kids love these night lights and have used them for years, literally. I have bought probably 20 of them over the years from different places and was happy to find them on Amazon finally (it was getting difficult to find them locally, and the kids really do love them). They charge them during the day, then take them off the stands at night and can sleep with them in their beds, like a friendly little light-up pet. You should know that no matter how many of these we've had none of them has ever lasted 8 hours like they claimusually about 3-4but that's long enough for the kids to get to sleep comfortably.

HOWEVERbe aware that you should open the package straight away and test it out as soon as you receive this product. I have never had this problem before, but 2 of the nightlights I bought from Amazon simply don't light up (and as I said, I have bought them for over 5 years now from different sources). I usually buy a few, put them in a drawer, and wait until the natural life span of the light just wears outwhich honestly has been anywhere from a few months to over a year. It really seems to vary with the individual lights. But NEVER have I had one not work at all; not until I purchased from Amazon, and since I didn't test them out immediately, my "return window" has expired and I'm out $20. I feel like I've been burned on this one!

This lamp is very small and very dim. We could hardly see a thing, had to return it. If you need only a small amount of light for atmosphere, it may be ok. It only takes 60 watts and the shade filters out a lot it.

I bought two. Very nice. Only one issue though...the cord cover is 3 separate 1 foot pieces and the cord for the lamp is about 6 feet long. I ended up using Cordmate covers and painting them the color of the wall.

The sconces look great in my bedroom and create the exact amount of mood lighting a person would want in their bedroom. My problem with these China made sconces is the GIANT WHITE sticker stating "Made in China and required bulb wattage" placed directly in the front, center of the bronze bulb holder! The sticker is a huge eye sore from any distance in the room and cannot be removed without pulling off some of the bronze finish. I even attempted warming the glue with a hot towel before removing the sticker it still pulled off some of the finish. I'm willing to live with the ruined finish for now, rather than see a giant white sticker each time I enter the room, but I would not recommend these sconces because of that issue alone.

After many years of dissatisfaction with my bedside lighting, I finally found the perfect lamps. No more fumbling under the shade to awkwardly turn on/off the lights, easy assembly, and the extra outlets will be perfect for charging the cell phone and the alarm clock. The shade isn't huge and is flat in the front and back nice. After a recent stay at an upscale hotel, I noticed the extra outlet plugs on the base along with the rocker on/off switch and knew I wanted lamps designed this way. I looked at the local home improvements stores plus Lamps Plus for this style, but only found the basic or expensive decorator lamps. These lamps were shipped free/standard and arrived 3 days after ordering.

Bought this for my brother-in-law. He's a lot younger than me, he's early 20's and I never know what to get him. Usually I end up giving him clothes or cash but got this for him this Christmas. What a homerun gift! It's sturdy and well made, plus it's fun and cool. Great gift for someone in that 'I just don't know what to get for him' category. Packaging wasn't that great, the box was banged up and the clear plastic insert in the front of the box had come unglued so I had to glue it back together. No biggee. Def recommend.

First, it's a BEAVER lamp, not an otter lamp. I could tell that from the picture on the Amazon page. Delivered on time and in good shape. For some reason the beaver is a solid gold color, which is offputting when you're seeking realistic portrayals in a rustic lamp. At least here in deep southeast Texas our beavers are a long way from gold in color. It works though.

When I received this lamp, I had mixed feelings. The base is cute but to me, the shade just doesn't go with the outdoorsy feel of it. I ordered the square, dark rattan shade from Lamps Plus, which comes with a harp sized for the shade. Man-oh-man, is it cute now, I love it. The lamp has a nice weight to it, not flimsy at all. I now am very happy with it.

I like this product, it worked as advertised and the led light by the switch is helpful in turning on in a dark room. Worked great for a single lamp. I thought it would work plugged into 2 lamps using a splitter but it did not. That was too bad as it fell under the 300W spec but, at the same time I understand, it is a little outside the documented usage.

After reading the reviews of this item, I was a bit apprehensive about trying it out. After plugging it in, however, apprehension became joy! Allow me to preface my findings by saying that I am using the two I bought to dim hanging lamps that have one e12 candelabra bulb each in them... so we are not taxing the advertised capabilities at all. The action is smooth with very little or no "snap-on" that is warned about in other reviews. It just cycles cleanly from off through very dim to fully bright. There is no noise at all from them. No buzzing, no hum, no nothing. If you want to dim your bedside lamp, or any plug-in lamp, for that matter, try one of these. I paid less than six bucks a-piece, and they absolutely could not do a better job.

I bought 2 of these after searching for bedside lamps with dimmers, etc, to no avail. I set up one on each side of our bed. We can turn on a lamp just enough to find tissues, etc, or bright enough to read without disturbing each other. No clicking on and off and no more waking each other up with the touch-lamp which has to cycle up to full light before going off. I also like that there's a tiny red light on the unit which helps to locate it in the dark. Bought TWO of these for the same price as ONE at the local hardware store! A great invention!!

I'm giving this unit a top rating, because it's not fair for me to do otherwise based on my own narrow problem with it. If you are considering this unit, you probably are concerned and prefer the natural light element of these types of lights. I've owned Ott lights, and even though this is not an Ott light, the light quality is fine for my eyes. You might care about its positioning and it's ability to stay put in your desired position. It does those things we'll. You might not have noticed as I had not that the on/off switch is a touch sensor button. It works very well and quite nice to deal with. The base is a reasonable footprint and includes an indentation on its top that might hold a paper clip or two. My personal beef is the bulb itself. I happen to own a quantity of fluorescent bulbs I thought I could use in this unit. That won't be the case. This build is different than the now dormant stock of bulbs I have on hand. I do not know how available these other type bulbs are nor how costly they are. I'm sure they are available somewhere. Check the bulb. It's no like me to stop my purchase here, with one of my main purchasing points foiled, but I am happy with the other elements of the unit, and I'm too busy now to bother with it.

This lamp is as awesome as it gets! I looked all over the web for a video of this lamp showing its animation and there is none to be found, until now...Ive made a video so that you can actually SEE what it does. When you push the button, the 1989 Batman theme song plays, a light of the Batman logo in the front flashes, and a fan in the base of the fan blows Batmans cape...although it doesnt blow alot, it still moves! On the down side, the music is pretty loud when it plays, but I resolved this quickly and easily by folding up a small black towel and put it under the base, which is where the speaker is, and now it really is perfect! Behind Batman is the Gotham City skyline of buildings, which also serves as the lamp stand/shade holder. Its about 21" tall with the shade, and 10" wide and deep. Its so awesome and I love it! You gotta get one if you are a Batman fan what-so-ever!

We purchased this lamp for my 4 yr. old son for Christmas and he is absolutely in love with it! He loves CARS and this was a great addition to his room. We have had problems getting him to sleep on his own at night and now with this lamp as we don't have problems anymore. I agree with the previous reviewer about the voice of Lightning not being the original voice, but my son still LOVES it. I love that it has the 2 settings (1. with the full lamp on 2. just the backlit lightning bolt in blue so we can use it as a nightlight). I would definitely recommend this to CARS fans!

At one point, I thought this would be a great addition to a "Cars" themed bedroom that was under construction. Found Amazon to be the best price, and they usually have great customer service, so I placed the order. Received the lamp and put it in the closet until the room was finished. Just under 2 months after receiving it, I opened the box and found only the nightlight portion would work (no main light at all). Holding down the demo button and wiggling the car just made a bunch of grinding noise. Found out that the return window was only 30 days. Doh! To Amazon's credit, they did allow me to return it, and credit most of my money back.

Ordered the lamp again, and just received it last night. Immediately took it out of the box and set it up. AGAIN, only the nightlight portion worked!!! No main light, no motion, no sound. Nada. The "instructions" are beyond useless. So, back to Amazon it goes.

The reseller for this second lamp was different than the first one. No matter. I will not try for a third. No wonder it is only available on-line. Makes for a great looking, but way too expensive, nightlight though!

Oh, I tried to rate it with no stars, but I had to have at least one to get this review through. Bah.

We got this lamp for my son's new "Cars" themed room. He loves it. He turns it on over and over. I wonder how long it will last, sometimes the talking stops before I think it is supposed to. Sometimes the light stays on, sometimes it goes off, and just the nightlight part stays on. What disappointed me the most is that it says that it plays songs and talks, but the song is not from the Cars movie, it is just some instrumental music and the voice is clearly NOT Lightning McQueen. That seems to bother me more than it bothers my son. Either way, he is happy with it, he loves it, and he uses the nightlight part to sleep with. I guess that is what is most important.

I got this for my almost 2 year old son's new "Cars" decorated room. I was sort of worried as to how I would like the lamp, but it is really neat. I like the "nightlight" feature as well which is nice to leave on without having the room lit up. The best part of it is my son just LOVES it. He dances and gets so excited when lightning Mcqueen and his music come on. I didn't really expect my son to actually ENJOY his lamps, lol, but it's the perfect must-have if you are decorating your son's room in Cars.

Well, it was great while it lasted. Went in his room and it's not working. No light... no sound, no movement. If anyone can tell me where to get it fixed or show it was misuse that caused it I will edit but I can honestly say I doubt it. Toys break, I get it... but generally I am the only person to touch this lamp and being used under a year it should still work. If it had cost $20 I would not care, but I paid a decent price for it and would expect it not to go out. His lamp from his nursery still works and he had that for two years before it was "retired".
