The metal shade and separate reading lamp were the main reasons I purchased this torchiere. With the metal shade I don't get a reflection on the TV screen. However, there are a couple of things I would change if I had designed the lamp. (1) The gooseneck arm on the magnifying glass is too short for the magnifying glass to be actually useful unless you are standing up. (2) The on/off switch is entirely too high on the pole. I have to stand up to turn the lamp on/off. It would have been much more convenient if the on/off switch was located about midway on the pole so that it could be reached from a sitting position.

These lamps are gorgeous in person. I was nervous buying online but they're perfect. Nice and tall with beautiful white shades. I honestly don't know about the light bulb issues the other reviewer had as I just use regular old 40 or 60 watt bulbs with no issues. I love the look of the lamps and they are nice and heavy. They look elegant and are exactly what I was looking for!

I have been looking (on-line) at this lamp for over 2 years. Finally found the $$ in my budget to buy it. It is a beautiful lamp. It has a foot dimmer switch, so you can leave it on low if you would like a night light effect, or turn it up all the way for use as a room lamp.

I am extremely pleased with the quality, however, it does come in two pieces and it is heavy (think quality) so you need two people to hold the 'tree trunk' to enable hand screwing it together. The shade on this is a beautiful golden hue to it and gives off nice warm glow.

We set this in the corner of the room, so the dogs and kids wouldn't knock it down. As stable as any other tall lamp, so don't be concerned. This is a high quality light and worth its cost.

Looks very 'real' from across the room.

The chandelier itself is not huge but not tiny. It's a beautiful creamy color, a little darker than shown in the picture. I set it up in my salon with a dimmer and people would not stop complimenting me on it. Everyone that passes by says that my chandelier is stunning. This is a small table lamp. It is on a spring and does wiggle. It has an easy to use rocker on/off switch. If you were planning to use it for reading, it does not put out a lot of light. But it is a cute, fun lamp and my daughter is very happy with it on her bedside table.

Not having to adjust your clamp for varying materials while you pocket-hole is great. The "auto" mechnism is very similar to the Bessey toggle clamps I use but, the mechanism is not near as smooth. The Irwin deployment does use a little spring-loaded turn-knob instead of a small nut to lock the tension setting. This is a definite improvement over the Bessey but, once you set your tension, you rarely change it so, I would rather have the smooth Bessey action. All in all it is priced a bit high but, was worth the price on sale. A little more attention to the rough edges would bring this rating up.

Guess i should have paid attention to the kreg video better...i thought this would be quicker than using a irwin type quick clamp but its really a pain to use. You can't really operate it one handed because the handles open so wide. With a quick clamp you can have one hand holding the kreg jig in place/hold the workpiece and one to run the clamp. But with this you need both hands on the handles and nothing to hold the workpiece. It clamps correctly and would be a good setup with the version that stays connected to a tabletop.

Returned item, using quick clamps instead.

Picture showed a lamp shade on the lamp and no where was it stated "lamp base only" or "does not include shade". I think this was misleading. The lamp is slightly different looking than the picture and I am having great difficulty finding a shade that fits. It is a huge size lamp base that does not fit a large size lamp shade. I purchased the largest size shade (H-13.375") at Lowes which according to other online sites appears to be close to the correct measurement for this particular lamp. This lamp shade & base are not proportionate to each other, however, they appear to be proportionate looking in the picture. The overall look is awkward. Could this be a bait and switch? Customer beware!

it's made of cast latex so it's basically plastic. so i think it's overpriced at $280 and the shade isn't amber brown and gorgeous like in the sample photo at all. it's more terra cotta and the wash technique was poorly executed. luckily i'm artistic and can give it an amber wash which should make it more to my liking. but unfortunately most people who buy it may be disappointed in what they get. maybe amber bulbs will help. if it were around $175 i'd have given this lamp 5 stars.

My office is done in Art Nouveau style and I needed a replacement for what was the perfect Art Nouveau amber banker's lamp that I realized wasn't UL-listed after it tried to electrocute me. I didn't think I could find anything in that style that I liked as much, but after a long search I found this one and may even like it better. It's compact enough to use as a desk lamp, and plenty bright enough to read by while still delivering soft, warm light, even with CFL bulbs. One warning: the shade is not nearly as dark or mottled looking as the picture here depicts. In the picture it almost looks like a mica shade, but it is not. When not lit, the shade is an even amber color. When lit, it is lighter (duh), and unlike other reviewers, I wouldn't describe it as "pink" at all, just a lighter amber color accented by the same red-brown color as the base. This lamp is sold by many other online retailers and other sites' pictures more accurately represent the shade's color. I'd look at other sites' pictures first before buying here, since Amazon's price is the the same or lower as other retailers I found.

These are wonderful lamps. We bought a pair to use on our bedside nightstands. The "chocolate chrome" finish is gorgeous and blends in with our dark cherry furniture. Very stylish design. The light color is very pleasant 3000K which is a warmish white. The on/off button lights up when the lamp is off and is a gentle night light, but not so bright it disturbs sleep. Once you press the on button, hold it down for the lamp to cycle from bright to dim and back. It has quite a brightness range. Lift your finger when the light is adjusted to your liking. And the lamp will remember the setting when you turn it off. They are tall enough to use as a bedside table lamp, but you can adjust the height and swivel. We chose the "desk lamp" version rather than the equivalent wall mount version because it would be easier to reach the on/off switch when laying down in bed. We've had them a week now, and we love them!

I recently purchased this lamp online not Amazon.com. I was excited about the lamp and how it would work with the furniture and decor in my living area. My anticipation and excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I saw the lamp. The color of the lamp was completely different that what you see in the internet picture. The color was a very dark maroon and the vertical edges were white. The color was so dark it was hard to see the decorative round elements on the front and back. Overall, the lamp is large, heavy, and unattractive . . . the color scheme almost made it look cheap. It might be the ugliest lamp that I have ever seen ha!

I strongly recommend that prospective buyers see this lamp in person before making a purchasing decision.

it's a pretty lamp but it doesn't quite look like the pic in which the orange color was more pronounced, in actuality the effect of the lamp is 80% different shades of green, 10% yellow and 10% greyed out purple-ish blue at rim and base, no orange at all when lit up, at least that's the one i got. It's still beautiful and you'll be very happy if you want a mostly green lamp, i always like a more colorful tiff style lamp though, a bit disappointed that the pic is not accurate.

I purchased one of these about six months ago and I am now purchasing a few more for our home and friends. I own an LED lighting distribution company, so the first thing I did was put a Toshiba gu10 bulb in to replace the halogen. You would bake under this thing with the supplied halogen. But not with an LED, as they emit little heat. This is a sleek, functional lamp that does exactly what it is intended to do: light the page, and no more. I prefer warm light at home, so I used a 2700 Kelvin color temperature LED bulb. If you're getting an LED to replace the halogen, specify a wide "beam angle," between 25 and 40 degrees. Ask for an MR16 GU10. It's hard to find fixtures with a good mix of form and function.

This lamp is beautiful, of high quality, and very well machined for a perfect assembly. If I had only one criticism, it would be this. Although well packaged at the factory, the Styrofoam packing is VERY brittle. It literally falls apart once removed from the outer box and GETS EVERYWHERE. I think Wayfair should look at alternative plastics, or even molded paper products, as a means to pack the individual pieces. You have to be careful not to scatter all the tiny foam balls and smaller chunks to enable an easier clean-up. Otherwise, I highly recommend this lamp for reading or decor. It is beautiful and gives off good light.

I am very particular about my clothes, my furniture. Etc. So, when I needed a little reading lamp, well. I probably wouldn't have ordered such a thing years ago when I was married, etc.

But I have the cutest little place, and I looked at my favorite places, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and I found this lamp at Bed Bath & Beyond. I knew that Amazon would have it, and it is the same one @ BB&B, same manufacturer, etc. It fits w/ my room, my decor perfectly. It is just what I needed.

It's perfect! I love it. A lot. So for me to say it's great, that's saying something. IMHO
