With battery or external power, this light is nice and versatile. A good deal of light delivered close to a working surface, such as for fine electronics work. The only negative is that even with batteries installed in the base, the position of the light head is limited since the light can tip over.

This lamp is very compact and provides good illumination in a limited area. I find it perfect for lighting up the keyboard. It provides much stronger light using the USB connection than it does on battery power. Attractively designed and useful for its intended purpose. Amazon's price was a bargain.

Got my lamp just in 2 days from the U.S. (i live in canada). The lamp is of very good quality, the neck is flexible and the base is heavy enough so the lamp doesn't flip when the neck is turned. The light is very bright and cool.

Overall i am very happy with the purchase. love my lamp.

I have been using this expensive halogen lamp at work that is so inflexible and the way it is designed took up so much space, plus you couldn't bend it to point directly on the document reader unless you wanted to deal with glare off the monitor--it's the standard desk light they distribute in this company. So, I bought this gooseneck lamp, it just arrived a few minutes ago, and already it is far better then my old lamp. The end of the lamp where the bulb is is a bit heavy, not sure how the flexible gooseneck will hold up over a long haul but so far, it's doing well. The light is that blue-bright light (like some of the high-end car headlights) so it illuminates extremely well and I can point the light beam directly on the thing I need it on. I'm very pleased and I'm taking my lamp with me when I no longer work here.

* The brushed nickel finish is classy-looking and nice

* It doesn't take up a lot of room on a desktop (small footprint)

* The on/off switch is easy to locate right in the front of the lamp

* The neck is flexible and adjustable so you can arrange the light how you would like

CONS:

* The lamp gives off very very bright white light -harsh almost. It isn't a "cozy glow" but rather feels a bit like you are working in an operating room under stark white lights. This might be good for some people but I found it a bit off-putting and almost too much. Even when adjusting the neck to make the light a bit less intense, there wasn't much I could do to lessen it. It also caused a bit of a glare on my son's laminate desktop, which was a bit distracting

* I've read that you cannot replace the lightbulb if/when it burns out. This is a major drawback and that alone would prevent me from buying this light (especially with a $40+ price tag).

In the end, I can't recommend this light due to the short shelf life of the product. The inability to replace the bulb is a major problem and cannot be overlooked. So, despite an attractive appearance, I'd have to give this lamp a rating of 2 stars.

This lamp is so incredibly cute. The lights are in the body part only, apparently, because the arms light up very brightly and the face glows much less than the body. Other than that, I just think it's over priced. On the positive side, my sixty year old sister is going to love this for her birthday because she's a Hello Kitty fan and you can't buy this in the stores so I know she hasn't seen it. I shopped for this on a number of sites and found conflicitng information. This can be run on batteries or plugged into the wall and the adapter IS included. Some sites said it wasn't included and I wasn't sure who to believe.

This lamp has become my lighting nightmare. It started with me buying this lamp from a different vendor than Amazon last summer. That vendor had a better price but never shipped. I had to stop my credit card and dispute and all that fun. I turned to Amazon as it was listed as in stock and I TRUST Amazon and sure enough, thanks to Prime, I had my lamp 2 days later. It cost more but I had it.

Next I started to build it. Unboxing it is a symphony of cardboard, Styrofoam and strapping tape. It is a holy mess to get all the parts out of the packaging. The Styrofoam breaks apart into tiny pieces and goes everywhere. That done I start to build it. I don't get very far when I discover one of the hollow screws that braces the shafts together is 1/2 inch too long!!! It's a custom part and not findable in local hardware stores. I really wanted to keep the lamp so instead of the nightmare of repackaging it and shipping it back to Amazon, I called Adesso in NYC to help. I got Maryann in the customer service department and started our long journey together. I described what my problem was and she sent out the part she thought I needed. It was not the right part. We further discussed it and she contacted her builder in China and we waited while they sent the part. That took a few weeks. When she got it she called me. By her description of what they actually sent her I knew it was wrong. We had conversed numerous times while waiting for the part and she was very frustrated with the supplier. She then ordered a new whole lamp sent to me. Wow! That should be it! They couldn't make the same mistake on two separate lamps. This was in early mid November and the lamp was due in the second week of December. It actually arrived on the 19th just before a trip I had planned for the holidays. I verified the bad part was now correct and set it aside for after the trip.

Upon returning home I built the first lamp using the good part from the second lamp. In doing so I discovered the top glass from the first lamp was chipped and used the good glass from #2. Upon completion of the assembly I raised the lamp and immediately noticed it leaned. About 5 degrees to the left. OH NO!!! My heart sank. I rechecked all my joints and they were tight and good. I disassembled and built lamp #2 just using it's parts. I raised it and it leaned the other way!! Also, the on/off switch was mounted in the device upside down and the housing for the two switches RATTLES! Oh my God!

I've talked to Maryann again and told her. I'm going to send her pictures and probably post them here to when I take them after the new year. I don't know if there's anything else she can do, it's a bad design. I have a similar Adesso lamp in my bed room that I got from The Home Depot and it's fine. It's why I bought this one. Well this one is just plain awful.

This lamp looks awesome. It also provides quite a bit of light, as it should.

Qality can be a little better but all the lamps I had were no better in terms of quality.

Made in China...

So, be carefull when assembling it. In order to get it stable and straight it needs to be assembled properly

Once assembled none of the quality issues are visible or can be felt.

The table is a nice touch.

I bought this lamp because it had all the features I was looking for...HOWEVER...the quality is very flimsy and poorly constructed. For $166 I expected something more sturdy, but it is what it is.

I have this in my nursery next to the glider. I love the dimmer lighting, the reading light, and the shelf. Although I am not too sure the shelf can handle much more than a glass of water. I have it standing on carpet and decided to use a wire wall mounting bracket to make sure the lamp does not tip over. If it was placed on a hard surface, maybe the leaning/swaying wouldn't be as bad.

Next time I will read the reviews...as I am now noting that others have experienced the poor quality.

I own the six-light chandelier, the pendants, and the ceiling lights from this family of lighting, and this lamp matches the modern craftsman style of our house perfectly. I agree with other reviews that I read that the floor and table lights do not always appear perfectly straight or square, but all in all, they are great. I bought two of these lamps for my bedroom. I liked the Asian lines, color, size and price. I was not disappointed. Although, I have only had them for a few weeks. They arrived on time, well-packed and without damage. They look great for the price. No problem with them looking unbalanced. I would recommend them to anyone who likes the look of the lamp on line to buy, because they do look just like the photo. Amazon is the best place to buy, even though Lamps Plus may have a slightly lower price. Doing business with Amazon is light years ahead of doing business with Lamps Plus. I always feel comfortable with Amazon.

I bought 2 of these lamps. One lamp was perfect. Very attractive and just what I wanted. The second one was a bit lop-sided in it's construction which, I believe, is what caused the reflected light to appear differently from the other lamp. The shade also seems a darker gold color than the other lamp.

This was the best price I could find anywhere and the light is as described. It is attractive and went together with no problems at all. i was a little disappointed that it didn't throw more light but if you were painting on a canvas I suppose it would be perfect. Sadly, I was just looking for more ambient light than I got and I don't think I want to purchase the additional lights to go on the stand. I think I may purchase one of the workshop clamp-on lights that you can purchase at Home Depot or Lowe's for a fraction of the cost and see what happens.

The lamp and stand were easy to assemble and illumination was good. However it made an annoying continuous buzzing noise when I turned it on. My expectation was that the lamp would not make any noise. I returned it for a refund. No problem with that process.

I love this lamp, however, it is not blue and white, or blue and yellow as shown in the picture. It is brown with black chinese writing on it. I found a spot for it anyway in our home. The shade was too big for the lamp, so I replaced it. It is a pretty little piece however.
