The first order had to be replaced as the most critical part of this item, the candle holder that fits in the bottom, was missing. Both the seller and Amazon did a superb job in handling this mistake. I first tried a tea candle when I received the replacement which worked just fine. Then a votive candle!!!!! While certainly a votive candle gives a prettier appearance and lasts much longer, it was my experience to have a significant mess made by the melting wax. I had wax melt thru the bottom onto the surface where the item was sitting and had to take it apart to clean up the melted wax inside. I am open to suggestions if anyone can explain how to keep a taller votive candle from not creating the melted wax mess.

Five stars for customer service, three stars for appearance, one star or less when using a votive candle as advertised.

February 15, 2013 update. Even after several months and others experiencing what I did, that is, this WILL NOT work with a votive candle, the description has not changed. Buyers, be warned!

I just use this lamp with little LED candles. The frosted bit doesn't obscure the light enough to make it seem like a real candle, but it does look nice and just as it appears in the picture. I got it used and never really notice the slight scratches on sides or metal bits. Great use of $7

I purchased this lamp to be used when my 3 year old granddaughter visits. She is afraid of the dark and always wants a light on. This lamp provides just the right amount of light. It is not too bright, but gives a pleasant glow. The lamp is beautiful. You see a lovely moving park scene with beautiful flowers in the background and then the moving butterflies in front. I was very excited about this lamp as I ordered it after seeing a similar one with fish on it. My daughter loves butterflies. This lamp makes a loud whirring sound when I turn it on. It is probably coming from the fan that is inside that makes the butterflies rotate. This product is Made in China, and does not look like it will last long. I am returning it.

I've had the dog fan on my desk and get so many compliments on it, so I got 2 for 2 cat lovers. One went to a co-worker as a thank you gift because she helps me out so much, I wouldn't ordinarily spend this much, but it screamed her name and boy was she happy to receive it. I really like these lamps and found them much cheaper here than anywhere else. They are a beautiful addition to my living room. The only problem I had with them is one of the shades had a few little brown spots where the wire meets the shade but it isn't too bad. And the harps are a bit small for the lamps to me so I just put larger harps on them and that fixed the problem. Overall they are wonderful and a great buy.

Dale Tiffany Dragonfly Table Lamp Reviews

We own several other Dale Tiffany stained glass lamps and this one is the same high quality we expected. The glass is very colorful, nicely soldered and finished. The base is high quality and nicely finished also. This lamp takes two of the new small base bulbs. (They look like, and are the same size a regular bulb but with a small base the size of a night light bulb instead of the standard sized Edison base) The safety sticker says to use 40W bulbs but we have been using 60W bulbs in similar lamps for years. I think it's more of an energy saving thing more than a safety precaution.

In years past we have had a lot of problems with lamps arriving broken because of poorly designed packaging. This is certainly not the case with this lamp! The styrofoam packaging is form fit and made to cradle the shade from within and without so I think it could take even the roughest of UPS tossing. Not one piece was broken or bent.

If you need a smaller sized accent lamp, this is certainly a very nice one.

I purchased this lamp because I liked the way it was described in terms of size and colors, and the way it was pictured. The order arrived within the week, and the lamp was packaged well. The base is heavy, looks good, but I am displeased with the colors on the shade. While the dragonflies are OK, the base color of the shade is mostly green, and dark green at that. Even with a 60W bulb it looks very dark nothing like the picture. Without the light on, it looks almost black. Very disappointing!

Don't know why the picture shows silver base and light pastel colors. It is definately a dark color lamp. I have several Dale Tiffany lamps and I have not been disappointed yet.

I ordered this lamp on the basis of the picture---predominantly blue shade with delicate light green and pink facets, pewter colored base. What arrived was a predominantly green shade with dark red (almost bliocked up) facets and a dark brown base.

The picture is very, very misleading, and I am thinking of returning the lamp even though it does seem to be well made. After all, if it doesn't fit the room, it doesn't fit. The lamp in the picture would fit though...

At first I thought that the lamp couldn't be left in the straight position, but after a good tug, I was able to straighten it completely or swing it out. There were a couple of issues, however. When 150W incandescent bulbs are used, the bulb in the higher position sticks up above the glass. I had to put a 150W in the bottom holder and a smaller 100W bulb in the higher socket. The lamp is meant to hold two 150 W bulbs, so this is silly. A glass bowl that was a bit higher would have solved this. Also, a silver cap near the top is crooked. This part came preassembled and cannot be straightened. This is minor, however. If CFLs are used, the company recommends that they only be used on the high setting, so if you're planning to use those bulbs, be aware that you will not have the option of using a lower setting. The price at this site was the lowest I found for this lamp. I originally bought it at a local store for $179. Fortunately, I hadn't opened the box yet and was able to return it when I found the lamp on Amazon.

We were looking for a bright lamp and since they no longer sell 500W halogen lamps, this was the next best alternative. The lamp is attractive, in a coquettish way, and the light is bright (though not as bright as the stars deep in the heart of Texas) for a non-halogen lamp. I would recommend this product.

10,000 hours = 416 days. In other words, more than a year.

I bought this replacement bulb on Oct 6, 2005. Today is the first of Feb. 2006--it died. Assuming that I never turned off the lamp during those 3 months, my math tells me that in order for the bulb to burn out I must have had the lamp on for 111 hours/day for five months. (111 hours x 30 days x 3 months = 9990 hours.) Only, I never quite lived a 111 hour day yet.

If I figure I used the lamp for no more than 6 hrs/day for those 3 months. I only got 540 hours out of it. However you look at it, it seems this bulb missed the mark on the 10,000 in a premature death.

I have had a Grandrich floor lamp for a couple of years. Went through one bulb in that time. The last time it flickered and died, I ordered a replacement bulb from Amazon. That one still didn't work. It turned out to be a bad electrical outlet in my apartment. After the manager replaced the outlet...no problems! I don't want to say that others with bad results had electrical problems, but that was true in my case. I will not hesitate to order replacement bulbs from Amazon.

I gave my mother this pretty lamp on her 86th birthday and she simply loved it. She likes to use it on the low setting for a gentle glow in her living room at night. It is also bright enough for her to read by. I especially liked the color of the base, it looks quite rich!

This is a beautiful lamp as you can see from my customer images. I found out right away that the bulbs it comes with don't provide enough light for the room I have it in, but I changed them with some 25 watt bulbs that I got at walmart for cheap which are larger and provide a lot more light! It works perfectly!! Note: A word of CAUTION Don't use a higher watt bulb, I found this out the hard way as it started to turn off on it's own and then it would not go off! The 25 watt bulbs are fine and any stronger than that is a fire risk. Once I replaced the bulbs with the proper 25 watt, the issues went away and I am really enjoying my pretty lamp!
