I have had and used many lighted magnified lamps. This "Professional Fluorescent Magnifier Lamp is every bit what the name sayes and then some! When I opened the package I was impressed with the construction and style. The width of the lamp creates a nice wide umbrella of light after you kickstart the two fluorscent bulbs on both sides of the light. The lights are individually switched to save energy if all the light is not needed , not me I love to flood the area with light as I troubleshoot and repair electronic PC boards both thru the board and surface mount technology components. I like the lamp magnifier cover to keep finger prints and dust off the lens when not being used. What I really like the most is when I need to get a closer look, BOY can I get a closer look! The 7.5" x 6.25" lens is beautiful, crystal clear without distortion of anykind if you stay within the focal length of the lens. This can be a little tricky if you aren't used to a 5 diopter lens. Once you get the hang of it you will be very happy that you purchased this size and power of lamp. I read a review that addressed the distortion of the lens and the lack of light. I found none of this. When you first turn on any fluorescent light even instant start lamps it takes a little while for the lamps to warm up to their most efficient operating temp. When they reach their operating temp they are at their full lumen output. This varies at different ambient temps.

Ex: cold work shop = longer time for full brightness. Warm work shop = shorter time for full brightness. This lamp has plenty of light when it reaches temp. Well this is all this tech has to say at the moment, got to get back to work under my magnifier!!!!!

I'll try not to repeat information on the website or covered by other reviewers. This lamp is substantial and well-constructed. The clamp will hold the base in place without twisting or sliding but you will need to crank down on it pretty tightly. The arms have enclosed springs and hold the magnifier in the position of choice without any appreciable drift. Two fluorescent tubes are provided with separate switches. Even after prolonged use, they do not radiate more than slight warmth to the face of the user or to the work. They provide ample, even illumination even for work on dark materials. The lens is large and free of annoying "cheap glass green" color. Another reviewer complained about distortion but this is unavoidable in a large lens of this type and modest cost. Center your work in the lens and distortion will not be a significant problem.

Lamps of this type are available with magnification factors from 2 to 8 diopters. The higher the magnification, the shorter the working distance. You may wish to go to an art or drafting supply store and look through magnifiers of different strengths before making your selection.

I have used similar magnifiers that cost much more but I find no functional difference between them and this much less expensive one.

Highly recommended.

Very pleased with the size and magnification of the lense as well as the lighting. Problem: the unit will not hold position at all. I literally have to place something under the head to hold it in position.

For the size of the light, size of the lens and overall weight, I am very disappointed with this light. There is a tremendous amount of distortion, so why make a lens this large? I would return it but I purchased it from JL Industrial and they don't allow returns unless it is defective, stupid me for not reading their return policy. There have to be better options out there.

This is a nice lamp and it magnifies perfect. The only dislike about this is that if you have a craft table that tilts up the light will not hold its position it will swing down or you will have to hold it in place by hand.

I purchased this lamp for a show home. It was replacing another lamp I purchased on Overstock. There was nothing wrong with that lamp, but I wanted something with a little more sparkle, a little more glamour. This lamp fits the bill.

I have it sitting against a bare cream wall, on a very dark mahogany end table, and the effect is stunning. It's a substantial piece very large & heavy and makes quite a statement. The deep blue glass is a beautiful color, and is even more gorgeous when lit. This lamp is definitely blue... not at all green. That aside, this lamp is perfect it's like lighting and art rolled into one.

I very highly recommend this lamp if you are looking to make a dramatic, high-design statement in your space.

I just received this lamp today, and chose it because of the glass base color, shade color, and size, based on descriptions on Amazon and other online sources featuring this item. It arrived in perfect condition, and was well-packed. However, the shade is not the color or finish described in the write-ups. It is not silver/grey at all--it is a tan-ivory warm toned color, especially when lit, and not a cool tone, which I expected from the "silver" and "grey" description. There is no sheen to it at all as depicted in the photograph which shows a shiny silver look, especially on the left side of the shade. The shade color clashes with my taupe walls, as the shade has a tan tone to it. There is no silver at all. Also, it is smaller than I expected. The lamp height up to the top of the shade is 28", and with the finial it is 29" tall. The glass portion of the base is 15-1/2" up to the nickel portion at the base of the socket.

The glass itself is a lovely shade of blue, with no green tones, so if you are looking for a greenish blue, this is not for you. It appears to be well made, although I also am having trouble straightening the shade. It looks straight in the front, but crooked when viewed from the side. As another reviewer mentioned, it can be adjusted if one takes the time to do so.

I plan to replace the shade when I can find one that is closer to silver-grey.

This is a gorgeous lamp. I was giving my living room a face lift and this was absolutely the finishing touch. I had to think it over for a couple weeks because it was more than I wanted to spend but I made the decisiono to get it and have never regreted it. Pictures dont do it justice. It is like a show peice in the room. The shade is kind of a silver and is beautiful as well as the very large knob on the top that holds the shade on. It is very well made and one of the other things I love about it is the fact that you can actually put a bright bulb in it! So many times the lamps will say no more than 100 watts or sometimes 60 watts. I dont know about you but for me a lamp with a 60 or 100 watt bulb is nothing but a decoration. I love this lamp.

I got 2 of these lamps for the end tables in my living room. They're absolutely gorgeous! For some reason, the harp sits so that it's really hard to get the shade even, which is a little frustrating but not really a problem. We got them sitting right eventually, and the lamps are well worth the small effort it took. The hardware is heavy and solid. Overall, they are very well well put together.

I can't say enough about how pretty they are! My sister is an interior designer and she thought they were great, too!

I purchased this fan, put it together and plugged it in the indoor outlet. It worked fine but when I plugged it in the outdoor outlet it kept tripping the GFI. After having an electrician out to fix what I thought was the problem the GFI he said the fan was defective and it could possibly cause a fire if I plugged it in the inside outlet where it worked. That is the reason it kept tripping the outdoor outlet. So check both outlets before throwing the box away.

I am still able to use the shade and it is very pretty and well made with nice accents that are not over the top. My only gripe is I would not call it a chalk pink, it really is not the color I was looking for. I don't think a monitor can be that off. I am looking at it right now and its a dusty rose. Still nice if this is the color you wanted. Just a heads up.

This is an attractive light fixture, however I was not pleased with the quality. The decorative leaves were easily bent (flimsy). I prefer a more substantial fixture.

The light arrived and was missing a few crystals. I contacted the seller for a few replacements and was told "we are only an ecommerce company, we don't have parts". When I pressed them they then said, I was past the 30 days I had (it took me about 60 days before I opened the box and hung the light). They were no help at all. So I called the manufacturer (World Imports) and they ultimately offered to send me a few crystals. I had to push pretty hard though as they wanted to to return the light and reship another. Well, I had the thing hung already. Just a huge hassle. Also, the wire they provide to hang the crystals has to be rigged and bent. I ended up going to Michaels and buying an earring post and made my own. All that being said, I think the light is very pretty especially at $150. The one star is for the seller not standing behind their product.

I read all of the reviews, and I mean ALL, and was super confused about the product. The product description seemed to be everything I was looking for, but the reviews were so mixed, I didn't know what to do. In the end, I thought to myself that i would order them and if they weren't for me, I would just return them. Thankfully, I didn't have to! They are exactly what I was looking for. My purpose for them: under the cabinet lighting without cumbersome and ugly wiring. They are bright enough to prepare food under. They have thre settings, bright, dim, off. They do not blind the kids looking up at them from another angle. They actually look sleek and modern. The lights don't have that dreaded blue tinge as Christmas LED lights have. Some people have complained that the batteries don't last long, but I'm not sure what they are using them for and for how long. I use them about 3 or 4 times a day for 10 minute stretches, and after a week, they are still going strong. They have 2 ways to mount them. With screws or with Velcro. I opted for the Velcro. Whatever method you use, the lights are easy to dismount in order to get to the battery compartment and change them. If I were to use these more often and had to change tons of batteries (6 AAA batteries) I would probably just get a battery charger and 12 rechargeable batteries in order not to be wasteful. All in all, I would absolutely, undoubtedly, without hesitation recommend these for daily under-cabinet lighting. Just as with everything, don't forget to turn them off when you are done!

For those who are expecting a tremendeous amount of light given out by these LEDs, consider that

1. these are WIRELESS, they do NOT run off a electrical cord,

2. they run on 4 AA batteries, and since they are LEDS, they can power it just enough for it to run for quite sometime.

3. its priced at USD$21.17. what do you expect? halogen comparative light output? you do get what you pay for.

and saying such, i am completely satisfied with my purchase. i keep two of these, one for under the kitchen sink (for leak problems et al) and one in the closet space.

both give a SUBSTANTIAL amount of light, without me running a line from a electrical outlet.

1. its portable.

2. since it runs on batteries, it can be used during power outages

3. multiple directionality. albeit it not enough to blow your eyes out, it does work.

in summary, you do get what you pay for. and for what its worth, i think its good for the price.

Want something brighter? go halogen and let me see you lug it around. better yet, see how much it cost compared to this easy fix.

I was a bit apprehensive with this purchase -would it be bright enough to light up my (decent sized) hall closet? Some of the reviews of the other (smaller) RightLite products mentioned them not being bright enough.

It turns out that is NOT a problem with this light bar -it's bright and it does a fabulous job of lighting up my closet. Because the lights pivot and turn I can position it throw the light in 4 different directions and get a really nice distribution of light.

Time will tell how long the batteries will last but given that this is an LED light driven by 6 (AAA) batteries, I'd expect decent battery life, particularly in a hall closet where it won't be used for extended periods.

However, the hook and loop tape did not work (the light kept falling on the counter), so we had to screw in the bracket.

So I purchased this item a while back... and have just been way to busy to review it right away. But here it is. I got this because I did my 2 year old's room toy story and though this would be perfect. it looks just as the picture and is adorable... but I plugged it up and the light did not come on. I changed the bulb and nothing still. I put it away in the closet with the intention of returning but never got around to it being how much I work... and so now that I am home for my 2nd pregnancy I went to return it and the little hand is missing... so I guess my toddler got a hold of it. I would just be careful if you order and return it right away if it does not work. do not wait to return it.

Rec'd yesterday and now in place on top of PC processor. The on/off button type switch is a plus. Noticed when incandescent ONLY 40 watt in place, the globe heated up fast. Switched to a 60w CFL and very good. That heating occurred in the other one also.

As a college student, lamps are necessary especially when it's time to study and the day's light has gone. Seeing all the wonderful reviews for this lamp, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and purchase. Unfortunately, I wish I had not. The lamp came and seemed to be in perfect condition. Excitedly, I put in a proper bulb, plugged it in, and turned on the switch. No light. Alright, so I decided to try another bulb just in case but to no avail. I learned that there was no problem with the bulb but an internal defect with the lamp. Disappointed, I wish I'd used my money on something else. Considering the other reviews, it might work for you. For me, I'm not taking that chance again.

Good basic desk lamp.. I bought this for work but I am not currently using it since my other (fluorescent lamps) are now working, and this is a backup to those. The light it emits with a CFL bulb is slightly different in color than the light from my fluorescent tube bulb lamps. So I don't use them together. For my job this lamp is a little glaring but I'm sure it would work well on my desk at home. I really like the switch being on the base instead of having one of those turning switches at the top of the lamp behind the bulb. That type of turning switch usually will malfunction after a year or two of use. Hopefully this toggle type switch will last longer.

Lamp is very well made, color and lines in the agate stones are beautiful having a rose color when the lights are on. The chain pulls are smooth to pull and do not stick in the on position as others that I have purchased in the past. Design on the body of the lamp is a classic pedal pattern that adds to the classic Tiffany look with color pedals that match the shade!!
