Handiest thing to have in a den/office area as well extra lighting near a chair. Will 'flex' all the way up if needed.
Rec'd yesterday and now in place on top of PC processor. The on/off button type switch is a plus. Noticed when incandescent ONLY 40 watt in place, the globe heated up fast. Switched to a 60w CFL and very good. That heating occurred in the other one also.

As a college student, lamps are necessary especially when it's time to study and the day's light has gone. Seeing all the wonderful reviews for this lamp, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and purchase. Unfortunately, I wish I had not. The lamp came and seemed to be in perfect condition. Excitedly, I put in a proper bulb, plugged it in, and turned on the switch. No light. Alright, so I decided to try another bulb just in case but to no avail. I learned that there was no problem with the bulb but an internal defect with the lamp. Disappointed, I wish I'd used my money on something else. Considering the other reviews, it might work for you. For me, I'm not taking that chance again.

This light is about the size of my forearm. Max of 60 WATTS but don't let that fool you! It provides a great amount of light, and lights up my entire work table (size of a large desk). I have it sitting on top of my computer for a higher elevation. Highly recommended for a night stand or work desk.

Great little lamp. Small though, perfect for next to a bedside (I have mine on top of a small book case next to my bed). Does not seem to get too hot in use, but I have only used it for a couple of minutes at a time. Keep in mind it is has a very small neck, probably only about 9 inches long.

Good basic desk lamp.. I bought this for work but I am not currently using it since my other (fluorescent lamps) are now working, and this is a backup to those. The light it emits with a CFL bulb is slightly different in color than the light from my fluorescent tube bulb lamps. So I don't use them together. For my job this lamp is a little glaring but I'm sure it would work well on my desk at home. I really like the switch being on the base instead of having one of those turning switches at the top of the lamp behind the bulb. That type of turning switch usually will malfunction after a year or two of use. Hopefully this toggle type switch will last longer.
