I purchased this lamp for a show home. It was replacing another lamp I purchased on Overstock. There was nothing wrong with that lamp, but I wanted something with a little more sparkle, a little more glamour. This lamp fits the bill.

I have it sitting against a bare cream wall, on a very dark mahogany end table, and the effect is stunning. It's a substantial piece very large & heavy and makes quite a statement. The deep blue glass is a beautiful color, and is even more gorgeous when lit. This lamp is definitely blue... not at all green. That aside, this lamp is perfect it's like lighting and art rolled into one.

I very highly recommend this lamp if you are looking to make a dramatic, high-design statement in your space.

I just received this lamp today, and chose it because of the glass base color, shade color, and size, based on descriptions on Amazon and other online sources featuring this item. It arrived in perfect condition, and was well-packed. However, the shade is not the color or finish described in the write-ups. It is not silver/grey at all--it is a tan-ivory warm toned color, especially when lit, and not a cool tone, which I expected from the "silver" and "grey" description. There is no sheen to it at all as depicted in the photograph which shows a shiny silver look, especially on the left side of the shade. The shade color clashes with my taupe walls, as the shade has a tan tone to it. There is no silver at all. Also, it is smaller than I expected. The lamp height up to the top of the shade is 28", and with the finial it is 29" tall. The glass portion of the base is 15-1/2" up to the nickel portion at the base of the socket.

The glass itself is a lovely shade of blue, with no green tones, so if you are looking for a greenish blue, this is not for you. It appears to be well made, although I also am having trouble straightening the shade. It looks straight in the front, but crooked when viewed from the side. As another reviewer mentioned, it can be adjusted if one takes the time to do so.

I plan to replace the shade when I can find one that is closer to silver-grey.

This is a gorgeous lamp. I was giving my living room a face lift and this was absolutely the finishing touch. I had to think it over for a couple weeks because it was more than I wanted to spend but I made the decisiono to get it and have never regreted it. Pictures dont do it justice. It is like a show peice in the room. The shade is kind of a silver and is beautiful as well as the very large knob on the top that holds the shade on. It is very well made and one of the other things I love about it is the fact that you can actually put a bright bulb in it! So many times the lamps will say no more than 100 watts or sometimes 60 watts. I dont know about you but for me a lamp with a 60 or 100 watt bulb is nothing but a decoration. I love this lamp.

I got 2 of these lamps for the end tables in my living room. They're absolutely gorgeous! For some reason, the harp sits so that it's really hard to get the shade even, which is a little frustrating but not really a problem. We got them sitting right eventually, and the lamps are well worth the small effort it took. The hardware is heavy and solid. Overall, they are very well well put together.

I can't say enough about how pretty they are! My sister is an interior designer and she thought they were great, too!

My daughter is about to turn 14 and her wonderful cowboy-themed room is no longer what she wants. In fact, she has decided that fairies are the best thing ever. We purchased this lamp to place on her bedside table.

This lamp does not come fully-assembled. First, let me tell you I am completely incompetent at putting things together. My husband excells at it. I am awful. When we opened this lamp for my daughter, my husband had already retired to bed. And there was NO WAY IN HELL that my daughter was going to be patient and allow this lamp to be put together the next day. So I tried it. And in fact, I did it. It was a little bit of effort. I was pretty sure I was going to break the glass panels. But I did not.

When the lamp was fully-assembled we plugged in it and SHE WAS IN LOVE. The fact that it is a touch lamp is super fun and she thinks it is AWESOME. I am thankful this kid has never seen an ad for The Clapper or we would have lights turning on and off with clapping all day every day.

This is beautiful, and delicate. The top finial (is that even a word) of the lamp is also really pretty.

This lamp is loved so much we actually ordered another one in a larger size with a different fairy.

I am a little concerned about its staying power, as it just seems a little cheaply made. But I will come back and update if it fails on us.

So, one star marked off for the kind of cheap look to the lamp (looking at it with adult eyes) and the fact that I had to put the darn thing together. But we still like it very much.

This is a well built cast aluminum light. The only drawback is that they need to install a built-in electric eye. May cost the customer an extra buck during manufacturing but would be ideal as an outdoor light. Most people do not want an outdoor light to run 24 hours a day.....

When in France a month ago, we ate at an outdoor garden cafe and I noticed some strung lights up in the trees. What a great idea for home, I thought, if I can only find something similar. These lights are well worth the investment. After years of investing in a series of cheap string and umbrella lights I finally decided to bit the bullet and purchase something a bit more heavy duty for our backyard lighting needs. The price-tag on this set of lights might seem high, but they are heavy duty, well made, and provide the kind of light that no rope or string lights could. At first we put 60 watt bulbs in these and ended up having to put in 40 watt bulbs for a better ambiance; the 60 watts were like daylight even on the darkest of nights.

I purchased 3 strands of these lights for our fairly large patio. I wanted to replace the ugly halogen spotlights we have on the side of the house that basically blind everybody and produce a very harsh light. The thing I LOVE about these lights is the nice soft effect they produce. This obviously depends on what type and size bulbs you choose to use. I am using small 25W clear globes and they produce a lot of light, but it is not harsh. Kind of like the outdoor lighted dance floors/pavilions you see in movies. Very happy with the results. Hopefully the durability of the product will please me as well.

Unfortunately there are a few things about the quality and construction of the lights that detract from their value. First, even though the lights have a 3-prong plug, they are NOT grounded. So please be aware of this as you decide how and where you are going to use them. On the positive side, they are really "heavy duty" in construction (see comments later about stiffness).

Second, one of the strands has a short in it and one of the sockets does not work unless I hold it at a particular angle and relieve the tension on it. I solved this by using wire ties to attach it directly to the guide wire to which I connected the strand. Takes away from the visual appeal, but it works. There's no way to get into the socket to repair it as it is a molded one piece unit. Guess I should have the sent the strand back, but was too far down the installation path and I found a somewhat acceptable workaround.

Third, the strands are very stiff when you take them out of the box and are hard to work with at first. My advice is to stretch them out in the sun for a couple of days and limber them up.

Fourth, the strands are pretty heavy, so if you're considering stretching them over a long expanse without support in the middle, be sure to use suitable strength guide wire/cable to support them. I used 3/32" braided steel cable and this is the minimum I would recommend. Especially important if you live in an area where they may become coated with ice...

I've read several other reviews about the sockets overheating and melting. Haven't experienced that problem yet. I would not recommend connecting multiple strands together if you can avoid it.

Other than that I am pleased with them. The metal shades are sturdy and easy to attach and create a nice "starburst" pattern on the bottom of the shade when the lights are on. Would have been nice if they included hanging hooks with the lights. I just bought some "swag lamp" chain and separated the links and made hangars.

Would I recommend them? Yes.

These lights are fantastic! The cable is a thick gauge of wire that is thicker than a regular extension cord. The metal shades are held on the sockets by a rubber o-ring and help reflect the light downward somewhat. The light sockets will fit standard light bulbs. I installed 25 watt, clear, globe-style bulbs on the one I purchased and they provide the perfect amount of light. I strung these up on the cross beams of the roof of our deck using screw in hooks. Then I just hung the lights on them using the built in holes. It has male and female plugs on the ends of the cord. If you're using low wattage bulbs, it should be able to handle two strands together. The lights are spread out with about three feet apart with about seven feet from the first and last lights to the plugs.

I had to run a drop cord to reach the outlet but hid it behind the posts. The holes on top of the lights run parallel to the cord, so you'll have to set the hooks perpendicular to the cord or run a wire and attach rings through the holes. These lights are built very well and seem like they will stand up to the test of time. If you're looking for a way to capture the feel of a vacation overseas or the ambiance of your favorite restaurant, these will do the trick. I am pleased with this purchase and highly recommend them to anyone.

I would have given this a 5 except for the fact that the base is quite a bit larger than it appears in the photo. Since our nightstands are small, the large lamp bases take up much of the surface area. Can't remember if the measurements were listed on the website, but if so, check them before ordering if space is an issue!

However, when the light is off, if you look from close distance, it feels like some dull colored plastic pieces put together with some tar like black glue. I was expecting some metallic looking or foil like stuff in between the pieces.

Very nice lamp, fit the need nicely, assembly would have been simple had the manufacturer paid attention to quality control. The two "Finial" assemblies...........fancy bolts that hold the light diffuser and the shade to the top of the lamp.............were of better quality. I am an Automotive Technician (45 years) and this is not an uncommen problem with anything that is manufactured in China, as I see it every day. The threads of the Finials were cast into the part and not cleaned up. I have thread chasers availble to me in my tool collection so it was not a big deal. If my CPA daughter on the other hand were putting it together it would have been a very big deal.

It took months and months of looking online to find the right lamps for our living room. I was a little weary buying something online w/o seeing it in person but I did and they look AWSOME in my living room which we use for the sitting room. They give off a criss cross shadow on the wall, kinda neat. I love them they look great. They were also the cheapest at amazon. I put them together myself, it was easy and they arrived fast.

The pictures a pretty accurate. Just look a the dimensions on the page and you will know how big they are, because that will be the most important thing. If you want a really big lamp, this isn't it. These are average size lamps. The lamps look modern and classy, but aren't too crazy. The materials all seem high quality. They are the type of lamp that you can probably look at in 30 years and still not worry about them looking stupid. I've had them for a year now and they are running and looking great.

This lamp looks better in person, was a bargain and only took 15 minutes to assemble. Two light bulbs were included so I was able to test the lamp once assembled. I recently purchased this item to use in a long, darkish hallway to help my half-blind old cat (17 years and still going)get around better. It is as cute as a button, bright for it's size, and well-made for being a night-light. Yes, the "glass" portion of the lantern has a transparent yellow tint, but it doesn't bother me. Perhaps because I placed mine in a floor outlet and thus it's not noticeable. It came very well-packaged. I may have to purchase another one for his "litter" bathroom!

Not as good with the light off! They are made of plastic and the faux glass is yellow when the light is off. This isn't as noticeable when the light is on, but doesn't look the best during the day. Other than that, it is very cute, sturdy and I like that it has an on/off switch.

I bought two of these lamps for my living room, when they were on sale. The lamps were packed fairly well, although they were packed in two very different sized boxes and had me worried that I had been shipped two different products when I arrived home to see them sitting on my front porch. The shades arrived without a dent, which was my biggest concern. The base of the lamp is a very heavy, sturdy steel. Each ball is the size of a baseball, to give you a better idea of the size of this lamp. The shades are less white than what is pictured, but just slightly, like an off white.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. One minor flaw is that one of the shades has a manufacturing imperfection; a faint "ring" that runs around the middle of the shade. It is only visible when the lamp is on, and even then would only be visible if someone was looking directly at the lamp. Instead of going through the hassle of returning the lamp, I just put that lamp where I expect it will be used infrequently.

We got these to use as night lights in my son's room. I took a chance on these and I'm really glad I did. These little lights would be best used for ambient light or a night light/emergency light. They don't give off a lot of light, but I feel it's at least equivalent to a standard nightlight you'd plug into a wall socket. The instructions that come with it are rather poor, pictures with no words, so it took a little time to figure out what you do to turn it off (turn it sideways so it's just past parallel with the floor until it turns off, a few seconds, and then bring it upright) and what you do to change colors (turn it sideways and bring it back to upright). There's something in it that you can hear sliding when you do this. I've had absolutely no problems with these little guys holding a charge. They last at least 10 hours, getting dimmer only in the last few hours of battery life. According to the instructions, either the white light or colored light holds a charge longer, but I don't remember which as we use the green light at night while my son sleeps and the white light in the morning when we change his diaper before his morning feeding. To charge simply place them on the charging plate and push the little LED button. It will turn on while charing and off when charging is complete. I charge them during the day while we're at work since it takes hours to recharge. I alternate which one I use every night so they get used evenly. My favorite feature is that these are waterproof (the lanterns not the charging base), so they'll be good for little kids if they have to use the bathroom at night or if the power goes out just when you need to get a shower. I had the power go out on me just when I was finishing up getting ready for work, so I grabbed one of these. I accidentally knocked it into the sink while I was brushing my teeth. No harm done!
