Matches the "higher-end" 5' Tiki torches available at Wally Mart. High exposure to sun has faded the colors a bit after 3 months, but not a big deal. Well worth the cost. This item was not available at Wally Mart to go with my tiki torches. Glad to find it here.

The lamp is a great height----added just that much more light to a seating area to allow for easier reading. The only beef I have is that the lampshade arrived with a couple of dents in it. I can hide that by turning it against the wall but am also planning to replace the shade with something even whiter. Although the shade looks white online, it has a slight linen look to it and even with the brightest/whitest light bulb, it gives a somewhat yellow cast. Overall, I like the lamp and the lampshade defect was not worth the hassle of repackaging and sending the whole thing back. But if you are concerned about the lampshade, check that before you start putting the lamp together (some assembly required).

Great price ~ should have bought more! I'm still using these lights on my outside patio Christmas Tree ~ through rain & cold. The color is a beautiful shade of purple~blue light; very pleasing to the eye. During the day the thick plastic snowflakes glitter in the sun.

I had to replace the batteries one time because I forgot to turn them off during the day ~ oops! I would remind the purchaser to be sure & slip a plastic bag over the battery box if rain is expected. I didn't do that once so I had to carefully dry the box out. There was no harm done as they lit up as brightly as before!

This contemporary lamp from Dimond seems well made and the lampshade is well done, also. However, the base is more black than bronze and the shade is more of a dark camel than taupe, but is still neutral so it blends well. The measurements are correct, but the lamp feels larger than it's measurements. It really makes a statement and I'm very happy with it. The price I paid through Amazon was also the lowest price I found it for after researching.

While the picture is very accurate to the lamp, I was disappointed on a web search to only find the same picture repeat over and over. To my surprise when I received it, it's not round! It is oval from the top view and parabolic from the side view. VERY interesting to look at.

So, I posted some pictures of my own which help to show the 3D shape of this lamp. I hope this helps other buyers.

This lamp takes two candelabra bulbs up to 60W incandescent. I am using two soft white 5W LED bulbs which produce equivalent light output between 25W and 40W, just about perfect.

The dangling beads reflect light with a deep amber reflection. Each is suspended on a small metal chain. Two of the beads were missing on mine, but this does not detract from the light's beauty.

The shade has a "sticky" feel to it and has a small bit of a petroleum odor. I suppose this is from the soldering residue and I saw from an internet search this is typical.

The switch is in the cord, about 8 inches away from the base. It's the typical roller wheel clicky.

The light is beautiful and matches my relatively dark office environment perfectly. I'm glad I bought it.

I can't imagine why! Honestly, I can sum this product up in 2 SIMPLY AMAZING. They are literally everything you think they are. I'm sure you've seen cheap ones at restaurants or something (specially if you live in NYC), these are way better! I love the flicker to emulate a real candle.

These are great for when you have company you can light a real candle and set it safely off to the side, then have these around the room for ambiance. If they get knocked over from "horse-play" or whatever, its OK! :)

Good stuff, definitely buying more!

There are six tealights in this set. Size of tealight insert is one inch high by one and a half inch wide. Glowing "flame" projects above base. If you click on the additional photos included in the product description, you will see the charging base, etc.

The actual tealight units are removable from the included frosted glass holders. You remove them from the holders and place the tealight units into the charging base to charge. There is a timer and it will turn off when they are charged. Once charged, I have used these as "all night" nightlights during power outs and they have lasted about 5-6 night uses on one charge. I beg to differ with another revieweryou can indeed charge less than the full load of 6. I often charge only the ones that need charging. Sometimes only one. This is induction charging so there is no need to "complete a circuit" or whatever by loading all 6. Charge one or twoit works.

They do have an authentic glow and flicker. Handy to keep at bedside. To turn on or off, you just grasp the tealight in it's holder and tip it to the side in any direction. Since the tealights are removeable, you can use them in another suitable candle holderunlike the larger, taller Phillips tealights that are permanently attached to the frosted glass holder.

No switches. So easy. Closest thing to real candles I have ever seen-without the mess, fire hazard, smoke. Plus they won't blow out when used outdoors. I have updated this review to give dimensions of actual tealight insert to answer comment below. These really are well worth the cost and are holding up fine with daily use.

Love these little candles, so far at about 10 cycles in they run way past the advertised duration between charges, which is really nice means less time on the charger and more time in use. Charging base is great and my 4-year old and her parents both love that she can essentially handle care and feeding of these by herself. No matches, no batteries to change.

They look best in my opinion scattered farther apart than close together. If clustered or placed too close together visually, the similarities in the modulated flickering patterns of the "flame" become more noticeable as patterns and start looking artificial.

My only complaints:

when used without a diffused or frosted holder, the bare "wick" looks like what it is: a cluster of lights, with a steady light on the outside of the "wick" and a modulated light flickering/blinking up through the center. It is almost amazing how this effect transitions into a lifelike flicker when placed in the frosted holders

if you like to store these back in the box when not in use, the box orients them sideways for storage by default, and you turn them sideways to switch them on and off... so it's difficult to get them in there without turning some back on, thereby running down what charge they might still have

Cheap Super Bright 12 Led Portable Desk Lamp

I ordered this light JUST because it had electric connection, as well as battery option. It does exactly what I wanted it to do. I can plug it into an a/c connection, take it with me on trips, and it shines brightly. It is very light-weight, and the cord is extremely short, possibly designed that way to keep it from being tugged out of place by a heavy cord. But I can make do with that because it is bright!

The vendor mailed the product quickly. Postage is almost more than the price and perhaps a little higher THAN it actually cost to mail it.

But it is a good product, may not stand up to rough treatment.

The Super Bright 12 Led Portable Desk Lamp was recommended by a well known quilt shop in the midwest, with there ok, I knew it must be something really good. I'm pleasantly surprised by the brightness of this little lamp, I can focus the light directly on my work allowing me to see my work & sew accurately. for the price this little thing is pretty great. the only issue i have is the cord it comes with is kind of short for my needs, but i already had another cord that fit it perfectly that was long enough, so it worked out perfectly. it is very bright and clear, not blinding if you happen to look at it though, because the light is a blue-ish color, not just bright white. i am betting that being used as a desk lamp for my night time computer and needle work, this little guy will be in use for a long time.

This thing came WAY smaller than I thought, but after looking again I suppose I should have known.

It is fairly bright, but has a narrow field.. most worthless except maybe as a flashlight.

The cord that comes with it is too short for just about any purpose and the battery case fell off at exactly the wrong moment.

After it's all together, it looks amazing. We put two of them over our dining room table and we've had sooo many compliments. Why did I rate it 4 out of 5, you may ask? It comes with barely any instructions. You need to use your handyman skills and, like us, go back once or twice and correct what you've done wrong. But if you are looking for step by step instructions how to put it together, you won't find it.

On the positive side, there are soooo many extra pieces of crystals included that you won't worry about what if one breaks or gets lost.

All in all, looks great and now that I'm an expert in its assembly, will definitely order again. Packaging was perfect and delivery on time.

Reviews of Dawson: Negro Folk Symphony / Ellington: Suite From the River

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is at its best here. On this album, they pay tribute to William Levi Dawson and Duke Ellington, with great, intelligent compositions and performances. The "Negro Folk Symphony" is a deep, ear-pleasing performance with great horn work and the strings sound great. However, one of my favorites is Duke Ellington's "The River Suite". I, myself have played this piece and it is just as much fun to play as it is to listen to. My personal favorite movements are "Meander", "Giggling Rapids" and "Vortex". The whole piece is extremely soulful and still well-written. A definite favorite of mine, and it segways into a great performance of another one of Ellington's greatest pieces, "Solitude". However, the real show stopper here is "Harlem", originally written for trumpeter Cootie Williams. This features William Lucas and Walter White, two of the best all-around trumpet players today. They effortlessly extend into the stratosphere and play beautifully through this challenging arrangement. As the review from the critic says, "Talk about musicians knowing their chops!"

Fans of orchestral music and big band music will enjoy this one equally. The DSO is constantly blurring the line between the two styles and this particular outing works wonderfully. It's great to hear an album like this.
