I have one of each of these Koppar lamps. There are four (green, orange/yellow, magenta, and grey) and they go well together if you've got a mixed color scheme to begin with. The design on these is a bit more organic, sophisticated, and because of the frosted glass, softer than the Knubbig lamps which are generally brighter and "funkier."

All-around, these are really lovely. The have a handsome graphic applied to each, this green lamp has a sort of vaguely grassy style to it, and when lit has a nice greenish tint. Because these lamps are frosted, they're dimmer than the Knubbigs, and they are certainly dimmer than most reading lamps. This lamp is great for soft light to use as a night-light, to watch a movie with, or to decorate a room with some color.

The construction is good in my experience, well-packed by Ikea, and almost entirely glass. The bulb socket is a little plastic piece that slips inside the bottom of the lamp and clamps in place with a plate you screw around to the bottom from the outside.

Really, the only major problem with the Koppar lamp design, is that the hole in the base where the bulb slides through is quite narrow. You'll need a candleabra style bulb probably, with a small screw fitting (Sparsam bulbs at Ikea, in an E12 fitting). If you're not sure, buy the lamp first and you'll be able to see what I mean and can either use that to judge what you need at a local store, or can take the lamp with to confirm. I have 7W CFL bulbs in mine, they could certainly be used with brighter bulbs as a soft reading lamp.

The only other thing to mention is that these are about $20+tax at the store, and at that price I really love mine. They are handsome, simple, and give off some really pleasant light.

It would have been a really great lamp. I assembled it as stated and a piece of hardware where the shade attaches to the base is crooked. It's ashame. I had to rig it up with paper to hold the shade straight. My fiancé could weld it to fix it....but really? You shouldn't have to do that! I paid for a straight lamp so I am kind of pissed.

Just purchased the 2nd one. I had bought the first light at a local store. Liked it so much that after a couple of months I ordered the 2nd one from Amazon and than read the poor reviews. Am surprised about these reviews as I found it easy to set up, arm is sturdy and moves easily exactly the way one would want it to move. I am very satisfied and havent found anything wrong with it. Perfect size and have one on each side of a L shaped Sofa. Very unobtrusive and can sit in the corner of the sofa and have more than enough light to read without distrurbing others who might be viewing TV in the dark. Looks very nice as well.

I need a bright light to read at night, so I purchased this lamp to replace a LED floor lamp I was using, but that wasn't as bright as I wanted. This lamp is attractive but had two drawbacks, The first was that it had a "UV" filter over the bulb. This filter resulted in the light having a definite yellow cast. This color, plus the fact that the bulb was only 40 watts resulted in a very weak light. The second problem is the lamp is short compared to others I have had. This resulted in a low (or flatter) angle over the reading material, which further weakened the brightness of the light. It was simply not what I needed.

I am very satisfied with the lamp head itself and with the range of mobility of the lamp head. However, the pole (tube) that runs from the base up to the lamp head doesn't tighten enough to feel stable. My lamp is sort of wedged between the wall and the couch, so it is not problematic at the moment, but when I tried to put it elsewhere in the room, it was not stable.

I expected more for the price.

The lamp base itself is nice. Its exactly as pictured. The lamp shade is as pictured however the first one I got (I havent received the second yet) would be what I consider to be a manufacturers second. The fabric is flawed. Its bunched in certain areas and is basically unfixable. But I'll live with it for the time until I go out and buy a replacement shade. Its really disturbing how bad it really is. If you were to see this in a b&m you'd pass on the lamp based on the quality of the shade (or at least ask for a discount).

The overall purchasing experience related to this product: The Amazon wesite stated "hurry only two left in stock". So I hurried :) and ordered the last two. So what happens? They ship one. The other is yet to ship. I'm certain it will (at least I hope) but my intent was to order the "set" to have them available in my guest bedroom for some soon to be arriving guests. Well I guess that wont be happening.

I will update this review when I receive the second lamp to comment on the condition of the shade.

I was surpised how nice the lamps looked in person when I put them on my end tables. They are very nice and the design goes with my home perfectly. They were smaller at the base than my old lamps so I had more room for photos too. I also like the three way lighting for softness for watching TV or more lighting for reading. The shades were also good as they didnt' tip and provided lots of light to shine through.

I didn't expect a fantastic lamp at the price I paid, so I rate it "not terrible." It's shinier than it looks in the picture, but that may just be my computer. The lampshade doesn't come down quite far enough to suit me, with too much of the socket showing. Also, in spite of what looked like adequate packaging, it was slightly bent. Not bad enough to send back, but certainly far from perfect. It's difficult for me to go out to shop and I needed to replace a lamp that had broken. So, it's satisfactory, but definitely not worth more than 3 stars. It looks better in the picture than in person.

I really do like the look of this lamp and it fits in perfectly. However, the lamp shade was not made properly, as someone else mentioned, so an entirely new lamp had to be sent to me. I then return the original shade and lamp and all is well. Just a bit of inconvenience. Do watch out for the shade.

These are not super great quality lamps, but they are good for the price. They are VERY lightweight, so I would not put them in any room where there is a risk of them being tipped over by children. I have them in my bedroom and have almost tipped them over a couple of times. When the lamps arrived the shades were a bit misshapen so I had to work on them to get them looking okay. Overall, they do the job and were inexpensive.

This magnifier lamp is much better than most because it has a clear glass lens. Most such lamps use a plastic lens that causes distortion. So, the image here is clean and wide, good light source (not color corrected), and the flip-up dust cap is a good idea. But there's one glitch to be wary of; the place where the gooseneck connects to the base. This spot supports the weight of heavy glass magnifier and lamp assembly, but is only a part of the thin plastic shell that covers the base. Mine broke within weeks. Impossible to repair. If you buy this lamp, treat it VERY carefully, especially where the neck emerges from the base. It's not reinforced as it should be.

This magnifier lamp is one of the most useful things in my sewing room. I enjoy playing with the embroidery machine I purchased last year but I had problems clipping threads and removing the stabilizers. As a geezer, I need to have things big and bright for me to see them. This lamp serves both purposes it magnifies and puts light on my embroidery work so I can see to clip threads and remove stabilizers without cutting the fabric and ruining my work. The lamp's bendable neck allows me to adjust the position of the lamp/magnifier so I don't have to strain my own neck while working. The lamp has a flap that flips down over the magnifier lens to keep dust off the lens. I bought this lamp for sewing/embroidering but I use it anytime I have trouble seeing something small.... like labels and instructions.

It's a very good desk lamp. Nice looking, not too bulky, provides a lot of light for reading textbooks, very adjustable.

Hope it lasts. I don't see any way to change the LED bulb, so I assume this lamp is done when the bulb stops working. The manual says "do not replace bulb". This was a surprise to me.

An image may be worth 1,000 words but the ohhhhhs and awwwwws came when I opened the boxes and set up the lamp.

The images and descriptions of the lamp were accurate; however the actual lamp and shade are much richer looking than they appear in the image. The lamp has a good solid feel to it and the shade is well constructed.

When the item arrived, the box was smashed, the shade was dented and creased horribly, and the stem just spun freely in the base with no way to fix unless I ripped the felt off of the bottom. Poor product overall, even if it were whole when it arrived, the design is extremely flimsy. Must be the reason Philips no longer makes this lamp.

This slips right over the bulb coming out of the ceiling and looks very nice. SO much easier than unscrewing those darn little screws on our old cover (that was glass and got broken). You just pull this off, replace your bulb, and stick it right back on the bulb. Easy, Peasy!

I had a bare bulb in one room in an apartment that I rent. Because I am renting I did not care for a complicated or expensive fix, just something to make the lighting in that room (an office) a bit better. This shade arrived and did exactly what I needed. Note that if you are using it on a bulb from a ceiling that it will be flipped over from the picturewith the metal part on the bottom. It actually looks better that way. Just clips right on. No muss or fuss and if I really wanted to I could take it with me when I move. Not the most attractive option ever but it is considerably better than a glaring bare bulb and better looking than I had expected.

I used this to cover the bare bulb over my desk in the basement. It cuts the glare and makes for relatively pleasant lighting. It looks stupid, but so does using a computer in the basement.

4 stars because while it works on an incandescent light bulb, it would not fit the larger soft white CFL bulb I had in the socket. I think it would manage to hang on to a normal CFL bulb, but would not be very stable.

When I put the 48-pack into my cart yesterday from seller "Y's Deals 4 you", they were listed at $59.99. When I returned to checkout today, the price had jumped 10-fold! If you weren't paying attention, you might easily miss the extra digit. This smells like a purposeful scam to me. Avoid this seller.

I searched and searched for the right bed lamp. And this was ALMOST it.

Except that the switch has a short and it won't stay on. I worry that it's a fire hazard.

And the switch is on the cord, which isn't what I was looking for. But there was no way to tell by the description.

I'm actually giving two stars instead of one due to the following -

Other than those two bits of disappointment, this would have been the perfect lamp. When it does stay on, it focusses the light perfectly so I can read without keeping my husband awake. The light is awesome, the neck is strong enough to hold it into any position. It clamps perfectly to our kind of think and oddly shaped headboard. So darn the malfunction!

We've decided to go ahead and fix it instead of returning it. We'll re-wire it with the switch closer to the lamp for ease of use, and use a new switch. Seems worth it to fix it because it really is a pretty good lamp.

Don't purchase unless you know how to wire a lamp.
