Well, long story short, I bought the 'dragonfly' (-12) glass only but received the '-10' glass only piece. I actually like the one I received in error so I'm going to keep it and have since installed it in my hallway and have placed another order for the dragonfly one which will be placed in my daughter's room. (I hope they send the right one this time!) : D Overall, I really like the quality of the one I did get since the online photo didn't really do the piece justice.

Update ~ I've since received the dragonfly one & I L O V E I T ~ one item to note is that it's more for show now than for light ~ this might sound obvious, but less light shines thru the colored glass than say a transparent or lighter colored glass. Regardless, I can't stop staring at it because it's so pretty & once again solid quality. : )

It's a very good desk lamp. Nice looking, not too bulky, provides a lot of light for reading textbooks, very adjustable.

Hope it lasts. I don't see any way to change the LED bulb, so I assume this lamp is done when the bulb stops working. The manual says "do not replace bulb". This was a surprise to me.

Great bright light, I'm picky when it comes to my desk (I searched for lamps for longer than I want to admit) and I am definitely pleased with this one. Looks good, and it gives off brilliant light. I am a college student that sends a lot of time reading, and my eyes have yet to strain under this light.

I absolutely love this fan! I have quite a few house plants in my living room. I keep a fan in there, but it did not look good with the decor or the plants. This fan was the perfect solution. It is beautiful and blends so well that my daughter almost watered it along with all of the other plants! The motor doesn't sound loud to me as the other reviewer said. The fan has two speeds. The fan arrived stuffed in a box, 2 of the leaves were bent with a crease in the metal. Due to it being a gift I didn't have time to return it. For the price it should have been packaged better to eliminate the damage. So I apologized to my sister for the bent leaves. The motor is a louder than you would like but it is pretty. I wouldn't buy it again, I was really disappointed that the leaves were damaged. karen

Buy Mini Ribbon Electra Lamp

The good:

This light up gadget (can't really call this a lamp) looks awesome whether turned on or off. It truly does resemble a sculptured piece of art. The red electric light show inside the glass will dazzle your eyes. It's a bit memorizing to watch. Your eyes are immediately drawn to it. That alone makes it worth the price.

Now for the bad:

The base is thick and black (basically ugly, an eye sore), nothing like the lamp itself. I found away to hide it behind a leather chair with just the glass top part showing. However the on/off switch is easily accessed but there is no dimming control. This thing is either turned on or off, no inbetweens.

Also, (this is important) part of one side of the lamp, near the slender center, either on one side or the other, doesn't light up simultaneously. I contacted Lumisource and one of their representatives stated this is normal. Apparently, the gas inside needs room to expand to move freely. So, it's not quite like the picture depicts with both sides simultaneously lit up at all times. BUT it does switch back and forth so it's not that big a deal. It's still very cool.

All in all 4 stars, one star deduction for the pic misrepresenting what the actual product does. Namely, light up on both sided simultaneously at all times.

Practical considerations: the cord length is about 5-6' and the size of the pedestal itself should not be ignored (the picture is dark, and so the black base is easy to skip over by eye.) Aesthetically, I would have preferred a more diminutive base, so as not to distract from the lamp itself. *shrug*

If you've ever played with one of those spherical plasma lamps (where arcs of pulsating sparks follow your fingertips on the round plastic surface,) you can probably imagine how these lamps look. The light flickers and pulses at the base, with the effect being more muted at the middle & top.

As stated in the item description, there is a simple on/off switch on the base. This is not a knob, and so you can not select the "sensitivity/frequency" of the flickering light (as you can with the spherical lamps.)

However, you can still trace your fingertips along the lamp surface and have the blue and red arcs follow your finger from the base to the tip. Most of the lamp remains lit without such contact, but if a patch falls dark between the base and the pointy tip, you can coax the light back to the unlit segment by hand.

It's too dim to be truly considered a lamp, not as much fun to play with as the spherical plasma lamps to be counted a toy, and too mass-produced and plastic-y to be counted a sculpture. That being said...I like it anyways. I use it as an accent piece and it's more or less what I expected. I hope it has a decent lifespan.

These lamps are very cool. I ordered several different ones as christmas presents for all kinds of people. Just one thing thoughyou have to open the box and make sure it works before you wrap it up. This particular lamp worked fine but i guess they have some kind of gas inside that can leak out the base. Out of the six i ordered online, there was one that didn't work. Still, they are great and unusual gifts to give or recieve.

I purchased this for my adult son. He mentioned the other day that he really missed a fun light similar to this that he had as a child, so of course I came to Amazon. Now an adult, this is perfect for him. He works very hard, and because his company is in the middle of a major move, he has been working 7 days a week, 16 hours a day. He basically comes home and goes to bed. I had already purchased a timer from amazon, and hooked this up to it so that it would be on till he fell a sleep, and a while after. He doesn't have to turn it off. Nice soothing motion with a subdued light, on the night stand next to his bed. No electrical noises! Received it yesterday, so he had it on last night. He fell asleep right away, and slept so soundly, that he was almost late this morning, he's usually the earliest one at work. I really think that this is a very soothing night light for anyone of any age. I do recommend a timer if used for this purpose.

I read the other reviews about it not working, or being uneven. The instructions are not very clear pictures. You must put the unit into the base, and twist, to lock it into place. Then if the gases inside are not to your liking, just put your finger in the place that needs more gas and the gas will follow your finger. The motion inside does change over time, so don't get frustrated. This is a very beautiful sculptural soft light, and looks to be made very well. Nice long electrical wire, easy to plug in.

Poor quality with spalling around grommet holes and very sharp areas around the edge of the glass. Shade actually cracked and eventually broke into pieces. I guess due to heat expansion but did not exceed rated wattage.

The lamp is a bit big for the space I have to put it, but that is my issue, not the lamp's. Really stylish night table lamp. The instructions for assembly were n a small piece of paper so if you have vision problems, you better get a magnifying glass! Otherwise, it's exactly what I was expecting. Too bad US in line switches have that rough-feeling rotary thing. A european style switch would have been much more preferable but I got used to it.

I bought two of these and both suffered from the lack of proper length bolts for assembly. I contacted Adesso for the proper bolts and they simply suggested I contact Amazon for a return. I responded saying I simply needed the bolts but it has been several days with no response.

The lamp is on my desk and has earned compliments from guests walking past the study. The switch is easily accessible and I use a CFL bulb which doesn't create a big heat build-up. I did have to adjust it to almost a straight down position as the glare from the inner surface of the shade was a bit bothersome for my liking. It has a nice solid look to it. The adjustment feature does give this lamp more versatility, making it useful in many ways.

I imagine that under studio lighting the bronze sheen might come through. Except I don't have studio lighting and the lamp looks like it is solid black. Different from what is pictured different from what I expected.

The white interior of the shade also makes the whole lamp look a little cheap. I plan to return and keep shopping.

On the plus side, the shape is attractive, the lamp is not tippy, and the on-off toggle switch is on the base at the front of the lamp, aka, a convenient location.

This is a really good lamp for the money. It is very solid and well-built with a heavy base. The color is described as Dark Bronze, but it is pretty close to black with a matte finish which I like. It uses low-energy Compact Fluorescent Bulbs that last forever and cost very little to run it even comes with one! I was so impressed with it that I grabbed my video camera and shot a quick video of it so you can see it better (the photo in the description makes it hard to make a decision about this lamp.)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program GMR gives this lamp five stars -he uses it down in his office where he draws, paints, and makes these blueprint house plans that look like lots of squiggly and squarey lines to my pea-headed brain that likes things in 3D but are quite beautiful, and he tells me the light from the lamp is more than adequate for his needs, without being glaring.

The lamp is solid in a good substantial way, and not cheaply made for a lamp of this cost. As well, previously, GMR bought 2 other lamps that just did not do the job -he's not complained once about the Normande HS3.

It is well-constructed and the look fits in with his office--a nice looking lamp.

There's nothing worse than a lamp that you set where you want it, and it continually falls down--this one stays put where it's set.

For the price, this is a winner . . . and I mean the price you buy it, not the "Amazon Vine Free Price" laugh though that's a great thing, too.

I have had numerous friends, both men and women, comment about the lamp and its rugged yet stylish design. This is a lamp that will last for years.

I highly recommend the Normande Fluorescent Table Lamp.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This an excellent table lamp: easy-to-assemble right out of the box (I didn't even have to look at the instructions), with a hefty base and it even comes with one of those new fancy-pants light bulbs that cost a fortune. At $44.00, it's a great value for the money. There are two places where the angle and height of the lamp can be adjusted and in both places there are knobs to tighten so that it stays where you put it. (I like that, because in moveable lamps without a tightening feature, the adjustments invariably slip over time as the lamps joints become looser.)

It comes with a 13 watt flourescent energy saving bulb, which is nice, because those things last forever and are a bit costly. It was somewhat dubious at first about the bulb, because they don't seem to produce much light, but this one lights up quite well. I'm using the lamp in my bedroom, and it really lights up my bedside quite well for reading.

This lamp has some heft to it: it weighs in at 6.6 pounds. This pleases me enormously because I have 4 six-month-old kittens that spend most of their time in my bedroom, knocking over everything they can get their paws on. They've trashed the place like rock stars on a three week binge, but they haven't been able to knock this lamp over. Awesome!

The overall aesthetic seems to have a slight steampunk feel to it, which I rather like. But even if you aren't into the steampunk look, this is a good-looking lamp. The photo on this webpage doesn't really do this lamp justice.

This is a good-looking addition to my bedroom.
