Best desk lamp I've ever owned that's saying a lot for an accountant who sits at her desk all day. Lamp is really bright & well-balanced. It has a 2-setting switch, which allows the user to dim the light a bit unlike the less expensive versions of this lamp. Also, although it is a bit hot due to its halogen bulb, it isn't hot enough to double as a space heater, as a few previous halogen desk lamps I've used. The only thing that makes this lamp less than perfect is that I've owned this lamp for over 2 years (consistent use of at least a few hours each day a a few more most nights) and the bulb finally died. Unfortunately, the screws that holds the glass cover over the bulb were already stripped. I'm not sure how this is possible, as I've never previously replaced the bulb. Anyhow, it'll have to go in the trash now, making it a $75 lamp, which only lasted 2 years.
I might get another one though, since I spend so much time at my desk.

As a Halogen light the unit is unquestionably bright. That is one of the big positives of Halogen bulbs. What impressed me most was the counterbalance design of the device. The lever and gears that allow for the easy and smooth lowering and raising of the lamp is ingenious and I would love to know the history of the design of this piece.Pros:

This lamp came on time and in new condition. I bought it for my grandson for his 1st year at college. In reading the reviews before I bought it, I was so surprised at how many similar lamps got such bad reviews, even highly respected lamp makers. This is my second Halotech II lamp (three if you count the one I ordered that arrived broken, apparently a factory defect). I really like the halogen light and the counterweighted design that lets me easily adjust the lamp as I work without adjusting springs and tighteners.

ok... i'm really picky... the lamp is perfect as a great light source with killer understated style. the only... and i mean only... thing that took some work was getting the glass bowl turned to the best position. this lamp is great quality. the finish is flawless. i would recommend this lamp to anyone looking for brilliant, unique understated style in a floor lamp. i hope i can see more from this design team or person.

Best Guidecraft Retro Racers Table Lamp Deals
My 3 year old picked this lamp out for his room, and then not so patiently waited for it's arrival. When it came smiles from ear to ear, until it came out of the package and one of the bottom knobs broke off. Yikes!!!! The knob has been glued back on however it still wobbles a bit. I totally recommend the actual lamp however the packaging needs to be revised so the fragile knobs don't break upon exiting the styrofoam.

We were very happy with this purchasethe lamp was exactly as described and the quality was very high. The cars move around the track when pushed manually and they're sturdy enough that I'm not worried about our little one breaking the lamp. The shade IS red like the picture, so keep in mind that the light is not overly bright. In my opinion, it was the perfect amount of light for a child's room though. A great accessory to my grandson's room. Cars move and the lamp shade is bright and adds that special touch. Well made, it had that heavy, stable feel that would prevent the lamp from easily being knocked over. I have been a Holtkoetter fan for years. I have seven of their products. It has been my experience that it is safe to order from this company sight unseen and the item received will surpass your hopes and expectations. This one did exponentially. It's geometry is a tight elliptical form. Photos don't began to describe. I generally prefer a chrome or brushed stainless or brushed nickel finish, but NO regrets with this brushed brass. Lite Source LS-1695PS Piston Wall Lamp, Polished Steel Review
The original lamp of the exact same type was perfect, UNTIL we needed to replace the bulb many months later. At that time we discovered that the cover was misthreaded and we couldn't unscrew it to replace the bulb. Tried everything. Major annoyance. Took it to a lamp shop and they somehow managed to unscrew the cover. Fine till the next time we needed to replace the bulb---same problem....then we just gave up and purchased another lamp. This one seems to be fine, so far. We tested the cover and it unscrews easily. We really like these lamps but are super annoyed at the malfunction we encountered in the first one. We bought two for one location at the beginning, and one of those original two is working as intended (cover screws off easily for bulb replacement). So....check the cover before you install and wait a year to find out the cover won't unscrew when you need to change the bulb! Grrrr.

These lamps are perfect for my living room. I'm glad I read some of the reviews and found out the shades were brown not Red. The brown worked much better for me, but someone should change the description on the Shade because it is Really Brown. The lamps arrived securely boxed. One lamp was scratched from where the harp was laying across it during shipping, but since I loved the lamps, I would have kept it anyway. The other lamp was defected. The harp, socket and the base were all so loose that it wouldn't stand upright. If you tried tightening it up by turning the socket, you would just be twisting the cord inside which would be a fire hazard. The base has a cloth cover on it, but I didn't want to remove it to try and fix the lamp because if I couldn't fix it, I wouldn't be able to return it with the cover off. Disappointed after finally finding something different that I really liked.Well it is three weeks later and the seller has made good on my complaints. I contacted Amazon and they contacted the seller with my problem. The company notified me that they were willing to send me a part to fix the lamp. A part would not have helped what was wrong. After emailing them back stating that a part was not the solution, they did not hesitate to act. A replacement was sent without charge and is damage free. I now would not hesitate to use this seller again. Mistakes are always possible, but it is how a company handles those mistakes that count. Thank you caring what your customers say!!!

I was quite disappointed when my lamps arrived and the shades were not red at all. The shades are brown and if you are going to ship brown shades and not red shades then the description should reflect that information. I ordered these lamps primarily because the shades were supposed to be red. The lamps themselves are really cool and look great in my living room, but would have looked much better if the shades were the color advertised. Cheap Guinness Pint Glass Shaped Accent Table Lamp Draught
Item arrived damaged the base of the lamp looked as if somebody had tried to take it apart and had not been able to put it back together the sticker on the electric cord had burn marks on it and the inside of the lamp was all scratched up. I believe that the item that was sent to me was returned by a previous customer and repackaged and sent out to me the company will not allow me to return it unless I pay to ship it back so it will cost me $28 dollars to be right back where I was before this transaction do not do business with this company
That reminds me I must go down the pub for the real thing

The hardware holding the elbow joint of this lamp broke the first time I tried to adjust it. It's cheap and hardly stays together. I can't believe they would sell this thing for $80. Cheap Access Lighting 20729-BS/OPL Ceiling Light
I bought this in the silver tone to hang in my family room. The light looks great and you have the option to hang it by chain or with the rods. If you hang it with the rods it looks very clean because the wiring is inside the center rod so there are no wires hanging out. The dome is nice and large and it filters the four light bulbs so it's not blinding when you look up. The sale price was great considering the same fixture is about $200 more elsewhere. It took my husband about an hour to hang it.
