The lamp is a great height----added just that much more light to a seating area to allow for easier reading. The only beef I have is that the lampshade arrived with a couple of dents in it. I can hide that by turning it against the wall but am also planning to replace the shade with something even whiter. Although the shade looks white online, it has a slight linen look to it and even with the brightest/whitest light bulb, it gives a somewhat yellow cast. Overall, I like the lamp and the lampshade defect was not worth the hassle of repackaging and sending the whole thing back. But if you are concerned about the lampshade, check that before you start putting the lamp together (some assembly required).
