These are the nicest lights I have found for Christmas. The sensor feature is great and works well. It is nice to have the lights on when you come home. The plastic twin pack wrapping is convenient for after the season storage. The brushed steel lamps are light but not cheap. Since I will use them year after year it was a worthwhile investment.

This lamp is perfect for outdoor use. It is heavy and stands up to the wind. The cord is heavy-duty outdoor grade and the mechanical components (light base, cord, etc.) are well protected from the elements. The light is protected with a heavy-duty glass jar resembling a mason jar turned upside down and screws into base to keep the elements out of the lighting socket. Even the push button on/off switch is weather protected. This lamp has excellent workmanship and high quality. There is two shade coverings, one plain taupe and the other with a design. Both are very heavy-duty, stays on in windy conditions, and made of high quality, outdoor fabric. I would recommend this product and I am very happy with this purchase.

We were looking for a lamp that can pass for the typical side table lamp but with untypical attributes like weatherproof. This one does it well in many aspects. It has mass to it bringing its center of gravity low and robust enough to handle everyday winds. I like the way they did the waterproofing of the bulb. It is an inverted jar design that is big enough to hold even a CFL. The dual candlestick are faux design elements so if you thought you can have dual bulbs, this is not your lamp. This is a single switch and not a three way bulb lamp. The finial is attached to the shade frame and the shade frame is attached to a friction ring that slips over the inverted bulb. The typical design lamps can allow you to lift the lamp by the finial, but if you attempt this, you won't get far. The shade frame will slide off the bulb jar sending the lamp base to the floor. This is not a bad design, since the finial was never intended as a lifting/carry handle, but I thought mentioning it since most people try lifting their lamps that way and this lamp will unpleasantly surprise you. The shade is not round, but rather oval; a design feature the original Amazon profile photo or description fails to convey.

I'm in central Florida on the coast, so in a year I will update this lamps corrosive resistant properties.

I have bought lots of floor lamps. This one did not work out too well. The problem is that the length of the shade combined with the height of the pole results in the bulb glaring when it is placed near a couch or a chair. It is pretty but if you are going to use it next to a couch or chair, be sure the chair is of a sufficient height or you are tall enough that the bulb won't glare back at you.

Currently I'm a medical student so I spend most of my time studying at a desk and I love this little lamp. The first thing I do in the morning is to turn the lamp on with my finger (b/c its a sensor button which I was very much amused by) and start my day with music. I ordered this lamp in the lavender color and I'm a little disappointed. The product picture made the hue of lampshade look a lot more vibrant than it is. Even the trim around the shade looks kind of bland in comparison. It's still a beautiful lamp, but I had different expectations about the degree of purpleness.

I used this to replace the failed socket in an older lamp of mine. It operates exactly as the one in my old lamp did. I am so glad I could find it here on Amazon and get it so cheaply. Great product! Even though we used a 3-way bulb in the table lamp in the TV room, there are many times, during a movie for example, that we wanted the lighting lower than what the bulb would allow. I knew there had to be a product like this so, after going to numerous big box stores and even two lighting specialty stores and not finding it, I looked on Amazon. Really regret not doing that first because, within a couple of minutes, I had it ordered and, within two days, we received it. It only takes about five minutes to install . We can now have lighting from as dim as a nightlight to as bright as the bulb will go, and anywhere in between! We both highly recommend it!

When I first installed it it worked great with a Philips dimmable LED light.

After a while, it didn't really "dim" the light it was mostly off until the knob was turned almost all the way on.

Finally, it started crackling when it was turning on and would only come on when the knob was all the way on and I had to jiggle it. When I jiggle it, I can smell the arcing. I'm pretty sure the variable resistor has died (I checked the my wiring no shorts and no loose wires...

It's gotten annoying and possibly dangerous time to replace it with something else!

Several reviewers have commented on the hassle involved in changing the batteries which requires a screw driver to unscrew and screw back the faceplate covering the battery housing. I agree that it is a hassle. Even when using rechargable batteries, this light eats thorough them in one evening (at 4 hours or so). After that the light starts to dim. So I needed a solution. However, in lieu of a dedicated power adapter, on a whim i decided to try USB as a power source as i had a spare USB to male cable lying around after purchasing the netgear wnce2001, and not using the USB power adapter cable that came with it. The input specification on the ottlight says "6V 600mA" and USB produces 5V, and while I'm not an expert on the various nuances of USB power delivery specifications, 600mA certainly sounded very reasonable i.e. not a "high powered" device like the ipads, while 5V wasn't quite 6V, it may not matter (I'm speculating that perhaps the voltage is further regulated internally so the actual input voltage doesn't actually matter, as long as it's high enough but not too high, of course). Anyway, I plugged it in (tried both desktop and laptop), and lo and behold light! as bright as using freshly charged batteries. So, with this impediment out of the way as i normally use the lamp together with my laptop as a supplementary light i give it 5 stars! This one little change makes the light truly portable, and hassle free.

Now that i think of it, i was using the sanyo eneloop batteries, which have a nominal voltage of 1.2V instead of 1.5V for non-rechargables, so that makes it 4.8V (for four batteries in series) ! So it makes perfect sense that 5V should work also, after all, the manufacturer has to allow for the possibility of using rechargable NiMh batteries.

By the way, i forgot to say that light quality is excellent, very white and bright. You can actually turn the angle of the light almost to about 80 degrees. I wasn't really aware of that until recently (I used to keep it at about 65 degrees or so for fear of breaking the part where it hinges together, but now i see that there's a stopper at the end, and it actually will stop turning). So it can be used as a more generic ambient light which is what i now use it for, rather than just focused light. Great for some mini-SAD-therapy, during these winter months, but i'm digressing ...

One can also pair the USB power adapter cable with one of several lithium based USB battery packs on the market right now, eliminating the need for a laptop or desktop (or AA batteries for that matter) although you'd still need to charge that battery pack, but that should last longer than the 4 AA batteries that this thing eats through in one evening.

UPDATE: this is the USB cable that works with the light it uses a "3.5mm" plug

I bought this originally to replace my desk lamp. Ooops, that was a mistake. This lamps is not designed as a desk lamp. Instead its more like a utility lamp. Its really short. The cover to the battery slot has a screw over it. This annoyed me a bit, because that meant every time I needed to replace the batteries, I would have to carry screw driver with me. The design ergonomics lost me there. In addition, there is no easy way to get the cover off it too, because there is no latch on it. The only good thing is the light is really powerful. Its LED white light and shines pretty good. Overall, I'm not really impressed.

I purchased this lamp for a spare bedroom, so I didn't want to spend a fortune. It met all my expectations considering the price, and it is a very pretty lamp.

Of course it doesn't have a finial on top, the shade just sits on the bulb, which you would expect from a cheaper priced lamp. The shade provides a soft light to the room and the lamp doesn't look cheap. It is all I expected, and I am quite pleased.

The lamp was well packaged when it was sent and it arrived on time, with no problems whatsoever.

The lamp is very pretty but the condition of the shade when we opened the box was awful (I had read in some reviews that this happened to others). We had to return the entire lamp with the shade. I did send an email along with our return submittal explaining that the packing was to blame (but as I stated other reviews mentioned that the shades were delivered dented and the packaging hasn't been improved but maybe my complaint will be the one that convinces them to improve we can only hope). They had the lamp base wrapped in bubble wrap and covered in cardboard. But the shade was only covered in thin plastic to keep the shade from getting dusty. The shade was just laying lose in the box. The base could roll up to the shade and dent it. I strongly suggested that they fill the shade with packing paper and wrap it in bubble wrap and also fill the box with bubble wrap or provide some cardboard to keep the two items from rolling into one another. It is a shame that for just a little effort on the packing a lot of time and frustration could be saved. Also, from the photo on-line I thought the metal base and the metal at the top of the ceramic base would be silver but it is gold. I do love the ceramic base that is very pretty. I hope our replacement is in perfect, the base and the shade. This lamp is a 3-way as other reviews stated, I wish that was in the description and also that the colors would be clearer in the photos and mentioned in the description.
