I purchased this lamp to use by my oven, as I only had a ceiling fixture that was not adequate. This is perfect. Not only is it gorgeous, but according to the sales page it should last me at least 4 years, that's for 24/7 usage. For $29 you can't beat that price! It is also nice and bright, and I can focus it on one burner, or the whole stove if I wish. I will also use this as a night light for the kitchen, so I didn't care if you had to unplug it to turn it off. For me this lamp is perfect!

There is no switch. Your options are unplugging it or disconnecting at the connector. I had hoped maybe bending it would turn it off but no such luck. If there was a switch at the base like the SL-606 model this would get the last star from me.

I like LED lamps and this is nice and bright ... just not practical if you have to unplug it to turn it off.

This lamp is far from looking like a real Tiffany lamp...First, it is not made in glass but in some king of resin that feels like plastic when you touch it...(It ''bends'' when you press on each side...really like plastic!!!) The copper lining is very cheap, not even, and super thin.When you put the lights and turn it on, it looks as if some bulbs were missing, it looks half lighted...

The lamp itself appears very nice, has substantial weight, and has a very nice finish. However, the switch is made out of cheap plastic and is not aligned very well with the metal piece it protrudes from. This makes it VERY difficult to turn off and on and I'm quite confident that in a very short amount of time it will wear out and stop working. In fact, in just a few minutes of me playing around with it, it failed to operate a couple of times. I fear that if I want an operable lamp I will have to buy one of those wireless sockets to plug it into so I can have a wall-mounted switch to turn it off and on (if you have a wall socket with a dedicated switch this would be just as useful.) And although this method will work (despite the extra money spent)it defeats the 3-way switch and bulb design completely.

So I'm happy with the lamp in general, but the switch did not appear to be designed by the same company that made the lamp. Pretty silly if you ask me, especially when you consider that the lamp will be useless if the switch fails!

I purchased this lamp for it's looks and style. Amazon had the "best price"! Easy to unpack and set up, but the over all quality of the lamp's stability is lacking. I will work on it to figure out what adjustments may be necessary. I'm a handy person, so not a problem for me. Overall, it fits the look and style of my contemporary surrounds....only wish, if it had a dimmer switch, allowing "mood" lighting.

Amazon's service was great...manufacturer packaged the original box poorly which resulted in damage. The metal parts of the lamp were dented & scratched. Switch was broken. Glass was scratched. Returned item and Amazon gave great service. The 2nd lamp still had minor scratches due to manufacturers packaging. Amazon packaging to protect it was fine. I bought this lightbox in 2001 because of the Sunbox name and because it was cheaper than the other Sunboxes. I used it at home and I noticed some difference, but I didn't notice an enormous difference. Then I gave it to my grandmother since she wasn't able to go outside for awhile, and somehow it got passed around the family. By the time that I wanted it back for my windowless office, the neck cover had broken, so they kept the old one and bought me a new one in fall 2009.

Previously, the lamp had only been at home, not in an office, so I didn't worry how it looked to others. When the replacement arrived at my office, I realized that the lamp positioned like a desk lamp, as in the picture, would not be useful for treatment (explained below). Later in the fall/winter, I tried another, less expensive lightbox and found that it worked incredibly well, and I used it religiously from when I bought it in December until March and it made such a difference. The other lightbox was the Daylight which I found out about on the non-profit Center for Environmental Therapeutics website.

The small lighted area of this desk lamp seems less effective. I know that Sunbox website says that the size of the illuminated area does not matter, but the lamp didn't have dramatic results for me and I wonder whether the treatment area is why. The Daylight has large treatment area, and it gave me lots of energy and good feelings.

It's also awkward to use. The new lamp that I got just needs to be turned on, and possibly slid forward to be at the required distance from your eyes, but the new lamp is always positioned at the appropriate angle so that it is effective.

By contrast, this lamp has to be at 14" from your eyes and angled so that the light comes from above, so it needs to be quite close to the edge of a desk, leaving little room to do work and I couldn't use a laptop at the same time. When not using the lamp on a desk, though, you want the lamp at a distance because the base takes up so much room so you have room for your laptop, etc., so you have to move it back. Since it looks strange to others to have this lamp pointing outwards, you might also want to angle the neck down so that it looks normal, which eventually wears out the plastic cover for the neck (which broke on my first one.) Alternatively, you could keep the desk lamp positioned like a normal desk lamp and just lower your chair so that the light shines from above, but then you have to sit with your desk at shoulder level or something, and that also looks strange.

Summary of disadvantages: small treatment area, uses lots of desk space, ineffective if positioned as a desk lamp, looks odd if positioned as a light treatment lamp, takes time to adjust it from light treatment position to desk lamp position and eventually wears out plastic around the neck, more expensive.

The base is large and takes up a lot of real estate on my desk, but the lamp is light and very easy to move off the desk or even carry from one room to another. The little indentations on the base are a nice touch -for office supplies, I assume, but they're also the perfect size for my wallet and security badge, keys, loose change, etc. The light can be rotated vertically, but the neck is only flexible a few inches up and down, not side to side.

I recently moved to the pacific NW for graduate school. I do not have a diagnosis for SAD or Winter Blues, but I noticed myself getting very down around 3:30 when the light starts fading and having a lot of difficulty getting up in time for work. I decided to try one of the SAD lamps that are ubiquitous here.

It's fantastic. I can actually be productive after dusk. I am no longer tempted to hit the snooze button six times even when I know perfectly well that I have had more than enough sleep for one night. For the first time since August, the apartment feels bright enough. Even when the lamp is much further away than the therapeutic 10 inch range, it brightens up the whole room with a quality of light that makes it feel like a clear, beautiful morning.

The cat loves it too. She sits in my lap and tilts her head completely back to gaze directly into the light whenever I have it on. (Why she doesn't turn around to face it is a mystery.) If it's similar enough to natural sunlight to fool a cat, that's good enough for me.

I have found this lamp incredibly useful. No more mood drops every winter. Follow the instructions on distance and time. (Check out the Sunbox website for more info on SAD and its lamps, too.) Use it consistently and for at least the minimum time. I have seen a significant difference in the last 3 or 4 years that I've been using it. I typically have started using it in October BEFORE my mood drops due to lack of sun exposure and have found that to be really effective. The first year, I noticed a difference in the first few weeks of using it even when I didn't buy it until mid-winter and was feeling pretty down, but since starting before mid-winter in subsequent years, I've found a more level mood, less cloudiness in thinking throughout the season without use of anti-depressants yeah! I'd recommend this product, though I have not tried others to which I could compare it.

It's fine for round-wick oil candles, it's smokeless in those, yes. But you don't want to use this in a flat-wick lamp or lantern, it WILL clog the wick and cause it to lose brightness and start smoking badly. You want to use the Medallion oil by the same company (not odorless) or Kleen Heat (odorless) for that sort of wick.

45OZ CLEAR ULTRAPURE LAMP OIL There is a world of difference between cheap colored oil you buy in discount stores and clear pure buring lamp oil. This product was priced right and they provided a fair amount for the price. We burn lamp oil on board our boat at times since it gives off a warm light. The last thing I want to be doing is cleaning soot off the salon ceiling and cleaning the lamps that burn the oil. Save yourself the headache and start with clean oil, then continue using it. I have seen some very over priced oil and at first tried those products. Since using this brand, I have no reason to change.

So I've heard time and again not to use this stuff in flat-wick lamps. But I do and it's not a problem. Maybe it's not as bright as kerosene but I had a kerosene lamp years ago that put out soot and awful odor. This does not. I'm willing to put up with 50% less light for 98% less particulate matter in the air. I use this one in a very small indoor space and yes there's the tiniest bit of odor but not it's not bad at all.

Furthermore the bottle says "For use in oil lamps and oil candles" with a photo of a flat-wick oil lamp on it! So I think the manufacturer knows what will work in its own lamps. If I have a problem with the paraffin in a flat-wick lamp I'll come back and edit this review.

We have several pieces from this collection, which are beautiful lit or unlit and definitely hand-made/a little asymmetric. This ceiling fixture was smaller than I expected (probably should have read the product dimensions a little more closely), so seems a bit small/dim for lighting a larger room with tall ceilings. We will likely move it as more of an entryway/vestibule light. The two bulbs do provide good lighting, and I'd recommend buying "warm" lightbulbs instead of anything terribly fluorescent or blue/white -highlights the warm, old-fashioned tones of the glass.

As we have found with other pieces, the instructions for this fixture are worthless -easy to install yourself (we are not professionals, either), but need to use your common sense and intuit the ordering of the pieces from the diagrams).

We were missing a long bolt once we unpacked everything, and Amazon's customer service was terrific -we ended up opting for a 15% discount in lieu of returning the lamp for a replacement and bought a long screw to fit the pendant at Home Depot for 26 cents instead. Problem solved!

Just got done installing this lamp. It is and it isn't what I expected; I'll summarize.

The dimensions here on the Amazon website are accurate, and the colors are too, I think, with the exception of the base, which looks brass here in the picture. It's not brass; it is indeed the 'antique bronze' as advertised, although it is one or two shades lighter than all the other oil-rubbed bronze fixtures that I have nearby.

It is super light, which made it nice to install; I easily did it by myself in about 15 minutes on a stepladder without even straining my arms, and I'm no muscleman. It came on and stayed on the first try, so I guess I would call it 'easy' to install correctly.

The flip side of that is that it is super flimsy. It feels cheap. The glass is so thin that at first I thought it was plastic; it's not, it's just thin glass. I have it installed with a dimmer switch; I've owned other, better art glass QVC, go figure and that thick, heavy glass oozed saturated color as the light washed through it, casting a beautiful glow. This fixture doesn't do that; it looks like plastic. In addition, this particular style depends on straight, even lead-lines to make the rows and grid of the pattern. To call this shade hand-made as another reviewer did is strictly charitable; it looks like it came out of the workshop of a retarded monkey.

To add insult to this injury, the glass shade came coated in a really repulsive smelling oil. A few scrubs with a dish sponge and lemon Joy in a sink, followed by drying with paper towels, took much of this off; not all of it, but enough to stop it spreading the smell through the whole room.

The other lamp I was looking at cost five hundred and fifty dollars; it is a Restoration Hardware flushmount. I figured this would be prettier and less expensive; now I regret the purchase because it looks like a twenty dollar plastic lamp. And I wish I'd known that before I bought it; which is why I wrote this review for you.

I just had this installed in the foyer ceiling today. It's much prettier in the picture than in person. The colors are not as vivid as I thought they would be, as a matter of fact they are rather dull. The petals that look deep red in the photo are actually a washed out dull red looking color. There is no wow factor to this. I thought it would really stand out amid the beige walls, but it looks just as bland.

Strangely enough, I'm not returning it, because I just paid good money to have it installed, so I'll see if it grows on me. If not, I'll be purchasing a different fixture within a year.

I have been searching for the perfect light fixture for my eat-in area for a year this definitely is the answer! It is perfect! It is a great cross between modern and traditional this will be in style for quite some time. It is very, very well made. The shade is a little darker than it looks in the picture, but it is still a very nice linen color.

The one hiccup we had was with the assembly there are no fixture-specific instructions (just general installation instructions), so I had a little trouble figuring out how to get the poles to screw into the canopy (the screws are removable on some of the poles). Once we figured this out, it was very easy and straightforward to install.

I have 9 foot ceilings and I installed the fixture so that it hangs 30" above my table. It comes with several lengths of poles so you can combine them in any length that you might need.

Do not hesitate to purchase also, the fixture was delivered a week before it was promised great surprise!

We ordered this lamp hoping it was truly a bargain at the price; however as the title says it's just ok. The color is much deeper than the picture it is a beige body not really an Ivory color and the print on the lamp is a dark kind of faded blue. The lampshade is rough around the top I would call it a poor finishing job. Additionally the shade has the circular attachment that slides down over the lamp socket, well at least it will with some coercion, and finally the cord is black; certainly not what I expected from a lamp in this color scheme. Would I buy it again maybe I just know now that it is not the really nice looking lamp in the picture, please look at the size it is small and will only take a 60 watt bulb.

This lamp has done everything I wanted it to do since I got it. It is small and fits perfectly where I wanted it. It has a great design and adds style to the area around it, and it produces adequate light.

It definitely looks like it cost more than it actually did.

Keep in mind, this is a small lamp. This was not made to take up a large amount of space. Know this when you buy it. For me, I wanted a smaller lamp, so I knew what I was getting. But for those of you hoping this would be a good lamp to put at your couch's side, measure out how big this actually will look and possibly reconsider your selection.

Also, as other said, I can also confirm this does not come with a bulb as it is advertised. Not a big deal. I was able to get a 10000 hour bulb for a couple bucks (60 watt bulbs are used, which is nice).

So, if you are looking for a small, stylish lamp, this will do its job nicely.

This is a nice little lamp for the money. I needed something small (to sit on a tiny end table)and I did not want to spend a lot of money. I had looked at lamps at the local department stores and could not find anything that was not around $60 or more. Although you cannot put a bulb in that is greater than 60 watts, it does do the job. The shade is a neutral color and the base is ceramic but is also muted in color. I thought it was a little more vibrant in color from the picture but I think the light colors will fit almost any color scheme. I've been using the lamp since November (it is now February) and have had no issues. Having it sent with free shipping was also a great bargain.

I got the Ore International 15 Ceramic Accent Table Lamp with the base in Ivory color. The order was shipped and received in good time with tracking options available.

Once I opened and unpacked the lamp the base looked fabulous but the lampshade had a few dozen nice dings or dents in it. No I am not exaggerating! Also when I went to plug it in, the cord didn't even reach the 5 feet necessary so I needed an extension cord to reach the outlet. All I had on hand was a heavy duty extension cord, so be prepared if your outlet is more than 4 feet or so from the lamp. Most lamps and small appliances have at least a 6 foot cord, so this was a cheap option on their part to give me a real short cord, which I'd say is about 4 feet long.

My brother recommended you get this type of product at a store where you can see it. I agree, even though I get many items I shop for online. Especially with this company and the type of lampshade used. Otherwise it would have been a great small table lamp but for these faults mentioned I highly recommend you do not purchase this lamp, online at least.

Another note on the lampshade. I noticed even though it's a white lampshade, a lot of the light still seems hindered compared to a frosty glass lampshade, so I would look for another type of lampshade if you are looking for good bright light.

I am using a CFL (compact florescent light) with this lamp and it has no problem fitting in. I got the CFL from Bulborama.com (Tiny Twist Spiral T2 CFL Bulbs Low Mercury) which give off a very nice cool bright white light very similar to daylight. They last 15,000 hours and are among the best CFLs you can buy. The link I am not affiliated or related in any way or form with Bulborama.com or in the lighting business whatsoever.
