I've tried to purchase these on other sites and this is the only one where you get more then one clip. I've used these countless times with my catering business and I have yet to break one. I use them on those white plastic tables with a 2in. lip.

Review of JURAF Bedside Reading Light

My wife and I have used a couple JURAF reading lamps now for six months and have been very pleased with them. They use very, very little power yet the Multi-LED light head in bright enough without being too bright. The beam of light is wide enough that it illuminates a book or magazine page but not so wide as to bother the other occupant of the bed. They have switches on the light head but I generally don't bother to turn mine off. When I don't want the light I just swing mine out to the side of the bed where it serves as a night light. They are large enough to offer lots of adjustability. The long adjustable arms are not, however, the heavy flexible type used in old antique style goose neck lamps. These can not be bent to a radical new shape over and over without the risk of eventually breaking them. That doesn't seem to be a worry for us as we find we don't need to make anything other than very small adjustments now and then. We just swing them in and out as needed.

My wife previously used a small battery powered LED reading light that clipped right onto her book so as not to bother me. It eat up many a pair of expensive button cell Li-ion batteries. I bet we spent close to the price of her JURAF replacing the batteries in that little dim thing. It also wasn't even in the same class as the JURAF when it came to using it.

I might add that although the CSA Listed wall-wart style power supply is imported, I found out that most parts are manufactured in NY State where JURAF lamps are assembled!

Update: I've been using a pair of these for a year now. I liked them so much a bought several more for Christmas presents for relatives last year. They have all been flawless.

I received this in a Priority Mail mailing envelope. There was no bubble wrap or protection for the item at all. The light is insufficient. It might be ok for not interfering in a spouse's sleep since it isn't bright, but I'm trying to read books and it's just too dim to do the job. The benefit of this light is its size. It can stretch and bend well enabling it to be attached to a side table. The construction is a bit flimsy including the clamp though it does extend to a very large size enabling it to attach to anything. Unfortunately the alternatives aren't great. I've done a lot of research. There are some nice lamps out there for bedside reading but they're over $100. So the maxim fits: You get what you pay for...

Very nice combination of low profile and flexible adjustment reading light. The best feature is how it easily swings away once you have it set up. When you swing it back, it winds up in the same place. The electrical connections are a bit clunky, but it plugs into the wall which I much prefer to ones that require batteries.

I needed a desk lamp for school and eventually narrowed it down to 3 lamps namely this one, the Grandrich ES-201 EZ Reader Table Lamp w/ 27w Fluorescent Bulb, and the Verilux Original Natural Spectrum Deluxe Desk Lamp, Ivory.

The Verilux seemed like an over-priced version of the same thing, and I didn't want to pay double just for the "Verilux" branding. On the other hand, the Grandrich does not seem to boast any Flicker Elimination Technology. Thus I decided on the mid-range EasyEye Lamp which, according to the sunpentown website, states that it "is controlled by an IC chip originated from Japan, which produces a flicker-free frequency of 25,000Hz."

I just got the lamp yesterday and although it is a little bulky and resembles something out of star trek, the light is very bright and perfect for long hours of reading/studying. The included made-in-Japan Hitachi bulb was also a pleasant surprise. While I am a little skeptical of the "Built-in Ionizer" function, it isn't at all noticeable and can't possibly hurt to have running.

Although I haven't seen/tested the other 2 alternatives, I'm guessing they serve the same purpose, hence it all boils down to your budget and individual preference. All 3 lamps aren't exactly the most aesthetically-pleasing so if you're looking for a pretty ornamental desk lamp, you should probably consider something else.

I use this lamp for my computer as I am on it for hours daily! The design is very dull, like the previous user has mentioned. But I have no problems with that. The light is very bright and "white." And it's very easy to turn on. Did I mention this light is bright? The lightning also covers a good amount of space so it is perfect if you are studying, reading, or using the computer. Also, it does not flicker at all, like some fluorescent lights do! Anyway, the only con with this lamp is it's design.

Fitting the iPad 2, 3 and 4 (New iPad), this portable mount ads versatility to your iPad and allows you hands-free access in areas where traditional stand/covers won't work.

The build quality of this mount is very good. At first I was uncertain about putting my iPad 3 into it, as if the mount let go, the iPad would be damaged. I usually keep my iPad in a case which offers both back and front protection, but had to remove the case prior to putting the iPad into this mount, which for me is the only real negative to using this product.

The portion of the mount that clamps to the iPad is made of lightweight, yet durable plastic. It attaches to the iPad at the top and on the bottom two corners, making a 3-point contact to the device which is quite stable. Attaching to that at the center of the mount is a heavy-duty metal 'stand 3D' arm. Cable manager clips are also included with this product giving the finished mounting a clean look. The provided mounting clamp is very versatile and substantial.

The quality of this product gave me confidence out of the box that my iPad would be securely positioned and maintain its position wherever I chose to put it.

A few possible uses for this product include:

+ Mounting in the kitchen for use as a recipe resource.

+ Bedside mounting for watching movies on Netflix.

+ Mounting on your iMac or Windows PC monitor for a second screen.

+ Tabletop mounting for use with a Bluetooth keyboard or for easy reference when doing crafting projects.

The included clamp has padding on it, providing scratch-free mounting to hard surfaces up to 1.5" thick. The arm of the mount can be twisted and formed to work for whatever use you have. The 'C' and 'S' shapes are most common, but others can be easily achieved as well.

Directions for this product are straightforward and include additional tips and tricks to help you effectively use the product.

Included with the directions in the box was a 'back skin' or thin coating for the back of the iPad (sticky, easy to peel off). This is to protect your iPad from scuffs, but if you're like me and have your iPad in a case which protects the back, you really don't need or want this skin on it. The problem is, without it on, the mount may scuff your device.

Overall I really like this product. It has many uses and being able to adjust the iPad, hands-free for 360 degrees is a great thing. For some this product will definitely be a 5 star device.

The reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is that I have to remove my iPad case and/or if I'm using a Smart Cover with a back cover, I must remove them prior to placing the iPad into the mount. Ideally, the clamp portion of the mount would allow for some customization in holding iPads with thin back covers at least. I like it, but in order to love it, I would not need to 'undress' my iPad to use this mount.

The lamps themselves are very attractive although there are a few flaws in the workmanship. I decided to keep them anyway and overlook the flaws that probably are only apparent to myself.

Of the pair of these House of Troy Newport Collection Table Lamps I first received, one had to be sent back immediately due to a serious defect. Specifically, the factory did not correctly assemble the column to the base, so the lamp very visibly tilted to one side, like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Hard to believe the factory missed this defect, as it was obvious as soon as I opened the box.

On both lamps, another problem is the finial, in my opinion. For some reason, I expected it to be made of brass. Instead, it appears to be a brass-plated pot metal casting with a crudish thread that is hard to get started without cross-threading. The finial is more or less representative of the workmanship of the lamp as a whole, which is acceptable but slightly "off." If the lamps are hand-finished with the variations this implies, fine, but the hands need to be a bit more highly skilled. My conclusion is that these lamps do not look as refined in reality as in the picture. No doubt I would consider them more favorably if they cost less.

Notwithstanding the preceding, the lamp I did not have to return looks impressive. The overall design is very good. The double lamp sockets with pull chains are an excellent feature, even though the chains don't align perpendicularly with the cord coming out of the base, a detail I would have liked to see. The lamp gives a positive sense of weight, solidity, and strength. And the shade is quite nice, although more tan than off-white.

The bottom line is that the lamps are good enough (when not defective) that I asked Amazon.com to replace the defective lamp, rather than my returning both of them. This decision was not easy, because it seems to me that the price of the lamps exceeds their quality. Hopefully my luck will be better next time and the replacement lamp will not be defective.

Follow-up. The replacement lamp was also defective, as it came out of the box with a sharp dent in the side of the base. These lamps are so well packed that the dent had to be there before the lamp left the factory, in my estimation. I also had this lamp exchanged. The next replacement was free of outright defects as far as I could tell. So finally I have a matching pair of lamps in the living room. They look good enough to have been worth waiting for.

Can now turn off lamps in bedroom from the bed instead of getting up! Small disk takes up little room on the nightstand. A gentle touch is all that is needed for 4 light levels. A friend uses them all over her house to avoid having to find the on/off switches under lampshades. Customer Service very helpful. They replaced two defective ones without asking me to return them. Best style and easy to use. Hard to find and hope they continue to make them!

Though not stated in the product information, this dimmer has 4 brightness levels.

I ordered two. When they arrived one worked fine, the other not at all. Called the seller and they sent a replacement without requesting a return of the bad unit. So T&B product quality is not great, but Ace Hardware customer service was! I can't comment on the other sellers.

It works amazingly on thing I hadn't expected like my 3 level halogen lamp. Somehow it bypasses the lamp controls and tap, tap, tap tap increases brightness. Very esthetic and cool looking. I wish the cord between the controller and button was longer so I could run it under the carpet use it to control lamps across the room in my bedroom.

This is a great lamp to have on a desk that doesn't require a ton of lighting it looks as good, or better, on my desk than it did on the web. The light is too white for my taste (it is NOT soft and warm), but it's effective at lighting up my keyboard. In the Amazon snapshot, this lamp shade looks like a matte linen, however it is actually satiny and a but shiny, which I don't really care for. I do like the base however it is very attractive. I am not sure if I will keep it or not; if I do I will most likely change the shade. The picture needs to be retaken to accurately represent the shade, or the written description needs to be changed to emphasize this.

Reviews of Philips 420240 10.5-watt (60-watt) A19 LED Household Bright White

I purchased a number of different LED lights to compare, including this 10.5W Philips LED. It seems like almost every LED light has some limitations and works better in certain scenarios than others. I personally found this little light to be quite versatile though. Its main limitations are:

1) It cannot be used with a dimmer. Despite what the description above says, my packaging says it is not for use with dimmers. I haven't actually tried it out with a dimmer though. Most of my lights are not on dimmer switches anyway, so this wasn't a significant limitation for me.

2) It is somewhat directional, as it directs more light away from the base and somewhat less light to the sides (though it's not as directional as some other LEDs). The directional effect is similar to lights like the LED Light Bulb, 900 Lumen, Warm White, 9 Watt (65W Replacement) by G7 Power. One thing to be mindful of is that it may look a little funny in certain scenarios (e.g. when inside of a globe fixture that you want illuminated evenly in all directions). In those types of scenarios, it may be better to go with a light like the Philips 424382 11-Watt A19 LED Household Soft White Light Bulb, Dimmable (which is a light that has neither of these limitations).

With those limitations stated, there are many things I do like about this little light.

1) It puts out a lot of light. Nevermind that it's rated at 800 lumens and the G7 9W LED is rated at 900 lumens, this light is brighter than the G7 light (at least the ones I have are). I observed this both subjectively as well as doing camera tests with both bulbs.

2) It's small and doesn't put out much heat. Many LED bulbs that I purchased are somewhat large and put out lots of heat. This is the smallest light of the 5 types that I bought and actually slightly smaller than a standard incandescent bulb.

3) It's quite efficient at 10.5W, and it has a good Color Rendering Index (rated at 80).

4) It comes on instantly when you turn on the light switch. Half the LEDs that I've purchased have about a 1/2 second delay when you turn on the light switch (which makes me second guess whether I hit the right switch sometimes), but not this one.

5) It has a 6 year warranty. Some other LED brands have much shorter warranties. If I'm paying this much for a light bulb, I want a good warranty.

6) For an LED light, it's pretty reasonably priced at this time, especially if you get the Philips 424895 10.5-watt A19 LED Household Bright White Light Bulb, 2-Pack.

Some final thoughts: This light bulb has a color temperature rating of 3000K. Incandescent bulbs are around 2700K. So, this light will look a little "whiter" than a standard incandescent bulb. Whether you like or dislike this is largely a matter of preference. I generally like the color.

I have one of these bulbs mounted pointing upward in a lamp fixture that directs light towards the ceiling in a room with tan-colored walls. Items in this room and skin tones look natural to me. I have another bulb mounted pointing downward in a ceiling globe in a room with baby blue walls. I feel like skin tones in this room look a little off to me. That's my subjective opinion though.

I generally like this light and will find uses for it in many fixtures in my house.

It worked well for over a year, but recently dimmed to less than half as much light. Phillips honored the warranty and sent us a check. They wanted the bulb back for testing.

This is my second LED bulb that I have purchase and it is great. My other is the ambientLED 8W. I just purchased this one yesterday and it is brighter than two of my CFL bulbs that I was using to light up my bedroom. They were 13W CFLs not the best but I definitely was not expecting this one 60W equivalent to be brighter than 2 60W equivalent CFLs. This is going to make it pay itself off faster for me but that is still a long time. It gives off a good bright white that is better to read or study under than CFLs. I do a lot of reading for school and my eyes don't get as tired under incandescent or LED lights as they do under CFL light. I highly recommend this light and you will be surprised at how good the light really looks.

If you live in San Diego buy at Home Depot because SDGE offsets the price.

In regards to the other review I will watch my bulb for a decrease in light output and if I notice one I will edit my review.

I replaced a couple of 75 watt floods with these in ceiling cans. Was surprised at how much brighter these were, and even more surprised that the color temperature looked as good as it did. Also swapped out a table lamp bulb, and it too, was bright with good color. Not sure what was wrong with the bulb(s) that one reviewer criticized for ugly color; skin tones look just fine with the bulbs I received. Color me happy...
