We have an old-fashioned decor in our bedroom, with a wrought iron bed. I didn't want any of the ultra-modern goosenecks so chose this one. It's perfect! Looks great, has a nice long cord, turns easily for my husband and myself to both read or just one of us, clamps onto the ironwork nice and tight, gives great light for reading--does get hot to the touch but expected that. Especially nice that the bulb came with it so no guesswork in choosing the right one.

if you've ever bought a clip-on lamp, you probably learned these lessons:

if the clip is made of plastic, it will break. Don't buy these.

if the switch feels cheap, it probably is cheap, and will break. Avoid those.

you get what you pay for, a lot of these are under $20. They won't last.

This lamp is more expensive than the ones you will find at Wal Mart or Target, but it is a far better product. The switch is sturdy; it actually feels good to turn it on and off, and that's saying something for a clip-on lamp. It looks classy. The clamp is metal. It's a winner.

The spring in the clip could be a bit stronger. When clamped vertically it tends to slip. Otherwise perfect.

I like this lamp but be aware it's going to cause the output from the sides to look very orange. It seems most of the light that's supposed to illuminate the room comes from the top. That doesn't do a lot of good in my application, but in a room with a ceiling it'll help a lot. In terms of light output it's a bit weak where I'm at, but I suspect much of the light is getting soaked up by the open, dark ceiling above. The switch works well, and the cable is a reasonable length.

I got this to go with the matching 50" Stix lamp, and they both look great in my room. They're bright enough for the whole room, and the beige paper gives the light a nice warm glow, even with low watt fluorescent bulbs.

I should have replaced old lighting years ago. This one installed over dining room table has four bulbs and makes so much

difference in the appearance of the whole room. One of my friends (we are all in our eighties)says the style is reminiscent

of the 50's "Modern" look. Whatever, I am very pleased with it but from the ooows and awwws from friends I hope I don't have to

This lamp looks wonderful over my dining room table. The light isn't too bright, but makes all the difference. The only complaint I have is that there is a piece shown in the directions for installation that isn't included. My handyman was able to bend the chain to make it work anyway.

I am very disappointed in this lamp. The shade looks like something you would find at a discount store. It is described as glass with copper foil leading. In actuality, the 'glass' appears to be plastic with some messy plastic joining compound that is very unevenly applied around irregularly cut pieces one of which is cracked. As a craftsperson who has made many copper foiled stained glass windows, I find the quality of this lamp completely unacceptable and I will be returning it.

I have owned a pair of beautiful quality Quoizel lamps for over 15 years. They were well made in the true Tiffany copper foil style. The lamps that I just received are the total opposite. They are made with plastic, not glass and they have some kind of black "substance" holding the pieces together. In addition, I ordered a pair and received lamps that don't match. One is darker than the other. One is taller than the other because the rods connecting the shade to the base are of two different lengths. In addition, the lighter colored lamp leans like "The leaning tower of Pisa". Its amazing that a company like Quoizel has downgraded the quality of their product to such an extent.

Actually, from reading reviews about lamps from other companies I see that many of them are also selling Chinese junk. At least I only paid $55. per lamp, so I didn't expect top notch quality, but I fully expected them to match.

I used 25 watt fluorescents to be sure the plastic "glass" doesn't melt and used some washers to make the height difference less apparent. Still wondering what to do to even the color difference.

I guess you get what you pay for, but if I had seen these lamps "in person" I would have bought something else.

There are four people that gave this lamp a five star review. They must have been luckier than me! Maybe it is because at 8 or 10 feet away the lamps are kind of cute. The design is pretty if you don't come too close!

This lamp is very light weight and not well proportioned. The legs are too "skinny" and the glass shelf is too high. If the lamp is placed next to a chair, you have to reach up to place a drink or anything else on it. The shade was dented in on one side, so we have to turn it so the dent isn't visible. It isn't worth the money!

I typically hate lamps as I am just not a 'lampshade' person. However, I needed something really classy for my new house. These were an absolute 'find' and I love them to bits. They are just so beatutiful to look at.

Incredibly well built, these are heavy lamps. There is a small amount of assembly required, but only took 5 mins. It took longer to unpack all the parts, as everything was so well protected.

Ordering another one today for the dining room.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program In the area that counts the most for a light, the light appearance of the Normande Lighting GP3-718-BK is bright and very white. When compared to other lights in the average home (like mine), this light lacks the warmth of traditional incandescent light bulbs or even more recent CFLs, and appears to be bluish-white. It's different enough that it looks odd when turned on in the room where there are other lights turned on.

Otherwise, the lamp doesn't weigh much and has lots of plastic covering most touch points. The construction/appearance (minus the light color) looks good until you touch it or handle it... then it feels cheap.

My son liked it though and uses it in his room for task lighting, mismatched light colors and all.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program In a nutshell, the lamp will function fine as a lamp. Just remember that since this takes a fluorescent bulb, the light you will get from it is an unnatural and bright white (don't expect any warm yellows here). This would be great for an undergrad student, but if you are looking to decorate your space with retro looking goods, I would probably look elsewhere.

So, I'll start with the good. Again, this functions fine as far as lamps go. The lamp *feels* substantial weight wise and the snaking neck feels built to last.

On to the constructive criticism. While this may look retro from a distance, up close, it's not as cool. The silver rim on the bottom of the lamp apparatus (where the light is) is actually partially translucent; when I turn the lamp on I can actually see through part of the silver strip (I can also see through the silver on the top of the lamp). The whole structure, excepting the snaking neck and the switch, is plastic. More so, the plastic pieces don't fit well together. There are places where the plastic is uneven on the one side, and where its mate on the other side is smooth as a baby's bottom. All the plastic smudges pretty easily, but the smudges are similarly easy tow wipe off with a dry rag. The only other "complaint" has to do with the way the light flickers when it turns on, but this is not so much the fault of the lamp as much as it is a reality with fluorescent lights. I only mention it so that those of you who may not be familiar with such lights are made aware when viewing this product.

Altogether, I think it's a good deal for a college student needing a desk lamp. However, this is not necessarily the find of the century for a lighting connoisseur.

**EDIT / ADDENDUM**

I am compelled to add this bit and to remove two stars. I am, at this point, unsure of the safety of the lamp. When I turn it on now, the base makes a clicking noise in tandem with the flickering of the bulb itself. This *sounds* hazardous (as if it could be a short). As I've only used the lamp for two days, it would seem that this is something that could have been caught with a little time and Q.C....

This is a cute lamp and the right size for what we wanted. When you turn it on it gives white light above on the ceiling which I hadn't expected. It also had a dark spot when the bulb was on. I really wanted a blue glow so I went with a desk lamp instead.

I purchased two of these lamps for a roof deck in NYC. I knew from the other review that the light is not very bright and that is true. For us, these are ambient lighting and not for, say, reading. For a gentle light that groups can sit around and chat with a glass of wine, these are perfect. No problems charging and re-charging, and they last at least 3 hours (we haven't tried longer really). They are a little more stylish than others I've seen, which are either made of plastic or have a utilitarian feel. These look nice on the table.

Had I read the manual when I got a simple electric stuff? No, I had not.

When I received this item I tried to switch on the lamp, it didn't work. I pushed on everywhere, and I even tried to slide my hand over it. And somehow it was on. What did I do???

Finally I decided to read the manual. It said touch once, twice...etc. Uhm! I now understood where to press. But still It didn't work for me all the time. And then I realized it has to be soft touch. I forced to push down the button too hard. (Yes, I know I am from Jurassic age. My kids told me.---> old generation, Ha!,Ha!)

I like the modern sleek design, the anti glaring filter, and LED. LED means I can save the electric bill, and that does not produce heat, right?

The one thing I am considering about it's not bright enough to me. I need more light to see due to age related vision. I am not sure because of the anti glaring filter, or just my imagination. Above all I am happy with this.

I thought Uttermost was a good brand, but the lamp is crooked on the base and the Ceramic has unfinished edges near the base. I was very dissapointed that it came that way but did not want to go through the hassel of boxing it back up for a return. The color is described as light blue...but it is actually more of a light turquoise. I may try to see if I can loosen the bolt underneath the base and straighten it some, but it still will not be centered. It is a beautiful lamp if it were not for it being crooked on the base.
