I have been looking for a not-too-large lamp I can leave on in the hall overnight in case I need to negotiate it with my wheelchair, and this one fits the bill well. It is going to be a bit of a nuisance replacing the rather odd CFB, but reportedly, I won't need to for several months: it's supposed to last 10,000 hours, and I have found CFBs to hold up very well. This would be attractive on a desk also, and it does not take up much space.

This lamp looks very good. You don't need to use another source of light when it's on. It brights the room. Only problem I have is the switch. It's on the wire and hard to reach.

The banker's light has probably been around for 80 years or more. It fills a basic need, and in that sense is timeless. It does its job well. This is a well made unit, a good value, and looks good on a desk.
