For me, this lamp is perfect in just about every way as a desk lamp. The height is just right, moves every way needed to direct the light right where you need it, the light output is just right for reading/working, and the light is focussed one direction and doesn't scatter all over the room. I don't think I'd ever pay full price for this light, and was lucky enough to buy ours for less than $50.

This lamp is just right, not bulky, focused, looks great and puts out the right light for the laptop or reading for extended periods of time. It does not scatter or backblast light, puts it just where you point it and this makes working for long periods very easy on the eyes. If you get this one on sale, grab it.

The Tolomeo look has been a classic for some time and I have recently taken the plunge and bought a few of these for my home office. The quality of the construction is an order of magnitude beyond the typical desk lamps you can get at big box stores--which is good, given that the price tag is of similar higher caliber.

The lamp takes regular light bulbs, the cables are strong and hold the lamp in place but without making the lamp hard to adjust. The lamp is a bit larger than what you might expect; it can easily lean over and illuminate a larger area than typical $30 desk lamps--which I find great. I am using two of these on my 7 x 3 ft writing desk and have plenty of task light.

The upside to the current down economy is that you can find these lamps for 30% off if you shop around. I've long loved the timeless look and don't regret buying these at all.

I'm writing this review because it's common that reviewers write reviews at or near the time of purchase. I love the classic design of this lamp, and I have owned two of them. Both simply stopped working after 1-2 years. When I took them to a repair shop, they wanted $50 just to look at it, not including the fix. I used them infrequently (on average, 3x per week). The joints require tightening each month or two.

The lamp itself is the perfect size for the space I have on a bedside table. However, this is my second attempt to purchase this lamp, with the Auburn "AU" logo on one side and the Tiger Eye logo on the other. Both times I ordered the lamp according to the photo pictured on the web site. The first distributor (on behalf of The Memory Company) informed me that the lamp as pictured was unavailable, so without telling me of the switch before shipping they sent the lamp with Aubie on the side. When I saw that Amazon was advertising the lamp as pictured, with a limited number left, I ordered again, thinking that this time I would get the lamp I wanted. However, when it arrived, it too, has the Aubie picture on the side. It would be perfect for a child's room, not the space I am trying to fill. I will be returning this lamp as well, and encourage others to beware of the switch (unless, of course, you are looking for Aubie on your lamp!)

This is a unique accent for a lamp!

I gave this a five star rating, although I was really thinking of four and a half stars.

The item arrived quickly, and in good condition, although one bulb cover was broken, despite the bubble wrap, the company quickly sent a new one to replace it at no cost. The item came with everything needed to install it, other than the screwdriver and a hammer, a level, and a pair of gloves(see below). I had the entire thing installed in about 30 minutes. The front forks that hold on the glazed glass can move a little bit, and I wish they were more sturdy--this is the reason for the half-star I would take off. But it is a minor complaint, and because they can move a little, you can ensure they are straight before putting the glass in. The glass holds them completely in place.

The light is emitted by four tiny halogen bulbs (With instructions on the boxes NOT to handle them with your bare hands--have some latex gloves around for installation, or some clean kitchen gloves). These bulbs throw an incredible amount of light, and the frosted glass does an excellent job of ensuing this light reaches every corner of the room, without actually being a blinding light. It has a nice finish, and once it was in place, was quite sturdy.

The installation process involved taking off the back cover (held on by four screws, inset, so they do not really show when installed), install the backplate: This requires two screws being screwed into the electrical box, and two optional screws that can be installed in the anchors. I used both sets of screws. Take the main unit, and connect the wires (there are three, white, black, and ground). They provide covers and a ground screw for each. Put the main unit on the backplate, and replace the four screws to hold it in place. (Note: To ensure it is straight, the two screws that go into the electrical box are able to slide around until tightened. Use a level to ensure they are straight, mark where you want to put the anchors, remove the back plate from the wall, and put in the anchors, replace it, and put in all four screws at this point, using the level one last time to make sure it is straight. If you are worried about the screws popping through the backplate, just use a couple of washers on the two screws going into the electrical box). Now, using gloves, take out the four light bulbs and lightly push them into place. They don't screw in, they just push in. Then, screw the four bulb covers on. Carefully take the glass sheet out, and slide it into place on the three forks. And....turn on your light. Done.

Simple, quick, and a beautiful and bright light fixture!

I absolutely love my new floor lamp. I bought it as an early Christmas gift to myself to accompany my new living room set my husband bought for me and it is an excellent match! The instructions were very simple to follow for assembly and I had the lamp up and working within the space of five minutes. The only drawback, although; it was not Amazon's fault was the UPS delivery. They forgot to deliver the lamp shade. I called Amazon and explained the situation and within two hours, UPS had returned to my home to deliver the shade.

Best Deals for Silver Metal Lamp

This lamp looks wonderful in the pictures. It was shipped in two boxes. The lamp body itself arrived in what appeared to be several boxes taped together to make one long box (over 6 feet long). There was very little bubblewrap or other packaging inside to prevent crush damage, which is exactly what happened to the base. It was bent at a 45 degree angle.

The seller wanted me to return the lamp at my own cost. Considering the length of the lamp package, it would cost almost as much as the lamp price to return the damaged lamp. It required filing an A-Z claim to get the seller to take action, where they told me in email, "You don't return to you . you can throw the lamp".

This experience has taught me not to buy such large items again unless they are covered by the Prime subscription. The lamp itself is beautiful and would have been rated 5 stars if packaged such to allow for prompt arrival without damage. Perhaps the experience of others will be more positive.

Review of Kenroy Home 21056WH Glover Table Lamp, Gloss White Ceramic

Really, this is one of the most beautiful lamps I have owned.

The proportions of the base to shade are wonderful, which is the first thing that usually puts me off about lamps that arrive packaged with shades. This shade, too, was beautifully finished: no hanging threads or little scrapes. The shade is off-white, even a dark off-white (but not beige, at least in my brain's color catalog), NOT stark white. For me, the off-white is a little more forgiving of our Front Range dust (or the un-dusted dust of my living room!).

The base, itself, I find captivating. Ours is on a dark table in between two "butterfly" chairs. At least we call them butterfly chairs. Although these are from the 1950s, I doubt our nomenclature because I can't find any images on the Web that resemble ours. Nevertheless, with the open-wire, rounded shape of the chairs, by my "lights", this lamp is perfect. Our living room now needs a bit of catching up to this eye-catching base: either simple, simple or fussy-fussy. Other than those chairs, the rest of the room is middle-middle, which isn't a great fit for this lamp.

Another thing that would not be a great fit is lots of rowdies racing playfully around. The base is pretty narrow; the shade is pretty wide. Tip City, anyone? I have a feeling that even a mild -say, less than 3.0 -earthquake would be a sad event here. I think I might try a way of anchoring the lamp underneath. Frankly, I don't want to find out whether it will work.

One more thing. You might want to check the dimensions of the lamp for your space. The lamp doesn't tower (or loom) like so many lamps, but I think it would be a bit large for a nightstand. Not checking this out might cause a disappointment, I think.

The packaging worried me because the box was so compact relative to the lamp size. It was a relief to see that packing material studier than the ubiquitous air-pillows had been cunningly wedged around the lamp and shade. Everything seems to have been in perfect condition, including the little wooden globe that serves as a finial.

This lamp appeals to a particular taste. If that retro-modern taste is yours, too, this might work for you.

Buy Mario Lamps 04T625 Adjustable Height Sight Saver Desk Lamp,

I purchased this lamp a couple months ago. It is a "Sight Saver" lamp. It is not apparent on any web site I've read, but this lamp requires a specially made bulb (the "Sight Saver"). It's just a CFL lamp in general but it has a special base with a small point on the end. The socket for the lamp is designed to contact the bulb at the end of this point. Standard bulbs will NOT work in this lamp (see below for the fix to this). Here's the kicker... THE BULBS ARE $25.00 EACH!! Probably 5 times the cost of any other CFL bulb out there, and you have to buy them from the manufacturer. You won't find these bulbs at Lowe's or Home Depot. To add insult to injury, the bulbs apparently are available only in the 30 watt model, which was WAY too bright for my tastes (almost blinding). Nothing great about the bulb.... it's just a CFL.

I figured out how to solve this problem though. At first glance, it appears that the socket on the lamp is not a standard socket. But further tinkering revealed that is indeed a standard socket with a slight modification. A plastic plug/insert has been placed in the bottom of the socket to accommodate the special base on the "special" bulbs. All you need to do is UNPLUG THE LAMP then (VERY carefully) use a pair of needle nose pliers or other fine point to break the plastic plug and remove it from the socket (you did UNPLUG the lamp, right?). I suggest working on the outside edge of the plastic plug to snap pieces off. Directly under the plastic plug is the metal contact tab common to standard sockets so be careful you don't damage that. It took me about 60 seconds, and I had a standard socket in which I can use the 15 watt bulb that I wanted and I can now buy the bulbs just about anywhere.

Basically, it's a well made lamp that I am now happy with. If you decide to buy it, be prepared to make the small modification. Either that or be prepared to pay through the nose for bulbs.
