I guess I should know better, if you find a good deal there is always a catch. The cones are actually Plastic, and the cord is like 3ft. Over all, I rewired them to allow for a much longer cord. Made to look good, not made of heavy duty, high quality, it is light weight sheet metal.

The floorlamp arrived quickly and for someone who doesn't know how to build anything, it was very easy to assemble. The little glitzy "crystals" are plastic but you can't tell nor does the lamp look cheap. It's beautiful, simple, modern, and sturdy. Also really feminine looking so it was perfect for me :). The cord is clear so it's not so noticeable and simple to wipe down. This a great addition to my room and I am considering ordering the table lamp too. Love it!

This lamp was a little more outrageous than I was looking for, but now it's really grown on me. I love it.

The lamp base and pole are polished chrome. Very flashy and modern looking. The shade is also polished chrome with many plastic crystal beads. It's an extremely unique lamp and looks more expensive than it is.

My only two complaints are: (1) There should be a white inner shade so that you can't see the bulb from the outside. CFL bulbs with the spiral/coil for example don't look very flattering in this lamp. You need to use a CFL with a frosted globe bulb. (2) The crystal beads can easily fall out place if the wire clips bend and slip out. Two of the beads were out when I assembled the lamp and I had to look through the packaging to find what looked like two bent-out-of-shape staples and then bend them back into shape to hold the beads in place.

Still, this lamp is so cool, so unique, and has so much character, that I still think it's a solid purchase overall.

I bought this item at Home Depot about 7 months ago. I've had many of these tabletop dimmer switches over the years, and they usually last at least five years. This one lasted less than a year. It started sizzling and popping a couple of months ago, and yesterday it stopped working altogether. I had it controlling two bulbs, each 75 watts, well within the stated 300 watt limit. Fooey.

We really love the lamp. It fits in perfectly with the nautical decor in our living room. My only problem is that it's a little taller than I expected. It's going to work fine, but we had envisioned it from the photographs being about a foot shorter than it is.

This desk lamp is even nicer than I'd hoped. Glossy black finish and a nicely weighted base so gooseneck lamp doesn't tip over. And it doesn't get hot, just slightly warm after being on for awhile. This is not a fine piece of furniture, but for the price one would not expect it to be. Most notably, the finish of the wood is not glossy or lacquered just a reddish matte stain with little grain and no shine. The wood is also rather light in density. But it is reasonably well put together nothing crooked or loose, the many right angles all look true. The paper shade (with plastic backing) lets a surprising amount of diffused light through, so it actually works better as a usable light source than I anticipated. Overall, good for the money if you don't expect too much.

I have the bigger version of this lamp and really love it, so when I saw this one, I had to have it. It is very small. I planned on having it be a table light but looked so tiny in the room. So it sits on our fireplace mantel. I have to say that it does shine very bright.

I would not recommend this product. Looks cute but not functional. Every time I try to change the position of the lamp, the top of the lamp comes off. And the knob that is used to switch the lamp on and off also falls off frequently. Very flimsy.

Love this little lamp! It's perfect for MY needs. However, don't be fooled by the 20" height dimension listed for this item. Overall, it's no more than maybe 15" tall (hard to be exact because of the rounded surfaces). Perhaps if you pointed it at the ceiling it might measure in at 20", but even then I'm doubtful. :>

In order for the bulb to NOT shine in my eyes, the distance between the bottom rim of the metal lamp shade (*bulb cover?*) needs to be at about 9.5" off my desk. The base holds maybe 6/7 pens/pencils, a very small notepad (maximum 4.75" wide INCLUDING rings if you've got 'em on the side), a 3"x3" post-it pad or maybe some rubber bands, a few paperclips and/or stick pins/thumb tacks.

BUT, with a 60 watt bulb it lights up a sizable area (maybe 3' diameter circle), keeps a few little items close at hand, and leaves a very small footprint approximately 5.5" x 7.5". Great for a kid's desk, college dorm, that small kitchen desk where you write your lists & count your coupons, or for this old Nana who needs plenty of highly concentrated light. For me, this is so perfect it almost acts as a magnifier. REALLY helps these tired old eyes of mine.

Oh! And someone said the top gets hots. The metal shade could give you a minor burn if you kept your hand there long enough, but I've had no trouble with the plastic dome on top that acts as the on/off switch. It barely gets warm. While I wouldn't strongly recommend it for very young children, most kids over the age of 3 (even below) wouldn't leave a body part on the metal section long enough to sustain a serious burn. You know best what your kids will & will not do, so act accordingly.

Sorry I babble, but I wanna try & get it all in here. Bottom line: This is a great LITTLE lamp for a REASONABLE price & I'd recommend it as stated above. :)

I purchased the black version of this lamp 10+ years ago and it is still going strong. I'll need to replace it soon, as the plastic base has cracked around the neck of the lamp itself, but the crack was my own fault as I treated it too harshly, and it's over 10 years old. It's done its duty and I will be buying a new one before I go to college.

An excellent product. If you're in the market for a small general purpose lamp, buy this one.

I purchased this lamp for my daughter's study table and am quite happy with the purchase.The lamp is quite useful if you look at its price.The biggest downside is the top of the lamp which is very flimsy.If you use 60 w bulb as recommended by manufacturer,the top becomes unbearably hot and you cannot touch it .since the bulb dome is metallic,you cannot touch it while it is on it is so hot.The only way is to use the plastic cap on top of dome to move lamp or use a bulb with lower power....

I purchased 3 of these for my home. For the price, they are as good as it gets, or at least that is what I found after looking around. While I recognize tastes vary, my wife and I were looking for "classic english style furniture" and this lamp has the nicest design we found out there, for that kind of money. The whole stand is not one part, but actually more than one screwed over each other, but the lamp is sturdy enough and craftmanship is more than reasonable for the price. The packaging we received it in was great: a lot of effort put into preventing any kind of damage to the lamps during shipping. All in all, I would purchase again.

The lamp and shade were very well packaged and came in good time. It is a 3 way switch but you do not have to use a 3 way bulb in it. I put in an energy smart 13 watt (replaces a 60 watt bulb) CFL mini spiral soft white bulb and it works very well. I like the shade, it is large at the bottom and lets out plenty of light for reading. A handsome lamp, just the right height for an end table.
