I bought this item at Home Depot about 7 months ago. I've had many of these tabletop dimmer switches over the years, and they usually last at least five years. This one lasted less than a year. It started sizzling and popping a couple of months ago, and yesterday it stopped working altogether. I had it controlling two bulbs, each 75 watts, well within the stated 300 watt limit. Fooey.
