This doesn't provide a lot of light but the the light is adjustable and just enough to keep an area lit for visibility. We use it on our patio when we're sitting out at night, don't want to attract insects, but have enough light to sit around the table. It's very sturdy and batteries last a long time. Would be great for camping.

I ordered two Quoizel West End lamps via Amazon.com, and was thrilled when I received them! The base is heavy and very detailed, and the shade is exquisite! The colors add such life to my room the lamps change the entire ambiance of the room. The Amazon.com price was phenomenal lower by $... than any other place I've seen. WOW!!!!

Update 2012 I just redid my new house, and was able to get a third one through Amazon. ANOTHER great deal, and beautiful lamp. I am a HAPPY camper!

The lamp arrived in great shape well packed and very timely. Assembly was an issue when the instructions required (for some lamps) a washer under the shade before installing the shade. There would be about 1/4" play in the shade and make it succeptable to breakage with the play. I called the mfg about this and was told, "some lamps have the shade"..............."I knew this already and didn't need them to tell me what I had read". I asked about the washer and was told to look in my scrap box for another as I should just have one lying around. My response was after paying $400 for a lamp I would not expect to have to hunt for used parts to make it functional. Reluctantly they sent me the washer which probably has a total cost of $0.50. Looking more closely at the lamp I found the instructions were incorrect and NOT following the instructions was the way to assemble the shade properly. I had attempted to tell the mfg about this while discussing the washer but was treated as a "dumb" customer vs. the Engineer that I am.

Summary. The lamp is exceptional, delivery prompt, instructions incorrect and poor customer support.

Would I buy again possibly but I would look to other manufactures. It was NOT Amazon or the Amazon supplier but the Manufacturer I hold responsible for this. Amazon and the Amazon supplier did a super job of completing, shipping and delivery on time of the lamp. The manufacture needs to improve their service to match the quality of the lamp.

Buy 27W Tube Bulb for Sunlight Lamps

The glass tube of the bulb is more squared than the one that I replaced (which had a more rounded end), but it fit the lamp properly. My lamp has a dimmer and the dimmer continued to work properly with this replacement bulb.

I suspect there's a reason for the cheap price of this bulb. I very much doubt it is a full spectrum bulb. The light is "icier," and unlike the original light, it doesn't cast a bluish tinted light that you can see at night. The light also doesn't feel as comfortable for reading.

If it isn't full spectrum, the description on the packaging is extremely deceptive. It says it's a replacement for a variety of sunlight lamps, but it doesn't say anywhere that it is actually a full spectrum light. Even more deceptive, it shows a full spectrum rainbow bar, but in small script, it refers only to the light savings compared to a regular light bulb.

If having a full spectrum light is important to you, I don't think you'll be satisfied with this light.

This is an inexpensive replacement for my desk lamp. Bulb is bright and works well. However, it is definitely not the Sunlight spectrum that the original was. This is just white fluorescent.

I don't mind too much. Its just a desk lamp.

I love this salt lamp. It looks absolutely beautiful in my bedroom. The amber light is extremely soothing , even during the day. I can't wait till tonight to view it in the dark. Wonderfully made, wonderful to look at. I am not sure on how the negative ion thing will work, as I just got this today. I will let you know. Irregardless , this is a beautiful work of art and I would highly, highly recommend this product.

I have 2 brass wall fixtures with bare bulbs on the walls surrounding my kitchen table. Even with low watt candle bulbs, they are too bright and blinding. I had a friend make covers out of my extra curtain material to place over another pair of shades, but.....the shades were too wide. They had to be on the bulbs just right or they would tilt, often resting ON the bulbs......huge fire hazard needless to say.

These green shades are the PERFECT size. They fit nicely on the tapered bulbs, do not bump into the wall, and allow a nice soft hue to come through. Price was right, and they look great!

Nice even cool white colored light for reading. Bought it to replace a halogen desk lamp. Instant on, no flicker, cool and glare free. I thought the full spectrum light was a gimmick. It really is easier on the eyes for reading than the halogen. Lamp does get quite warm, but not as hot as halogen.

Solid construction, instant on, no flicker. Clean lines. Substantially better quality than knock off full spectrums selling between $20-50.00.

Replacement bulbs cost 19.95 from verilux, with no shipping charge. They are supposed to last 10,000 hrs. In my experience some CF bulbs last a long time, others only a few months.. so I guess we'll see about this one.

I noticed that being on the north side of my office building my office was dark all the time. I seemed to be slowing down as well. Having used a full spectrum light to solve a similar problem when working from my home office in a dark basement, I decided to try the same in my company office.

My Verilux full spectrum light has done the job quite well. I have only one minor complaint... the light does not pivot on all axis, so I'm not able to position it precisely as I'd like. But I CAN get it pretty close to my desired position, and it does the job well. I find I have more energy and get the job done. My wife complains that I loose track of time and work too late on a regular basis, though my employer certainly is not complaining.

Not at all disappointed by this item. In fact, I had to buy another because my wife took mine away. She has many Ott-lites and they aren't what they used to be big fails and annoying long flicker time when turning on. Turn on this Verilux lamp and there is no flicker at all none! I still smile every time I turn it on, and that makes me feel silly because I'm not the type to get emotional about appliances. We both love the light it puts out lots of light but not too harsh. I think they pegged it just below the point where it would be a harsh light, which is just right for me.

The light is very bright and easy on the eyes. The lamp is beautiful but it's a little unstable because it's top-heavy. When you loosen the arm to adjust the height, the lamp will fall down if you're not holding the top part.

The rather clunky on-off switch broke after minimal use, and was purchased only this September. The good news is, it was in the ON position. This is a really nice looking lamp and fairly easy to put together but it arrived without a critical part (socket ring) to hold the harp and lamp shade on the lamp. Now we need to go track down the part, which seems easier than taking the lamp apart and returning it.

I originally bought this lamp for my living room, where I have a somewhat low sofa. In my living room it is was ugly, as the shade sits quite high and you can see the bulb. It was too ugly for my living room for this reason. I moved the lamp into my office, and it now works fine, as the height of my office chair precludes me from viewing the lamp. I am using it in another room, for another purpose, but with that caveat, it is working OK for me. It takes a 150 watt bulb, so it throws out quite a lot of light if you need it to. Switch is on the side, and a bit of a pain to access, but for me the lamp is switched from a wall switch, so that is not an issue.

I can't believe I got this lamp for just about $40.00. The lamp is perfect! I agree with the descriptions of the other reviews...it is an extremely beautiful lamp. It works, looks and smells like new!! The only reason why I got it so low is because someone must have returned it and the packaging was described as "worn badly", but when I got the package it was not the case. And of course, like I mentioned already, the lamp is as good as new!!!

I must say, I will be getting used items from now on. Well at least from this seller:-)

Don't buy it! Not worth the money. The design was great and I really wanted to keep it, but it is made so poorly, it's not even as good as a $20 Ikea lamp. Parts were superglued on and falling off when it arrived, though there was zero damage to the packaging. Dings on the face and knob. Cheap metal. And when I plugged it in it didn't even work. It's outrageous how much they charged for this lamp.

The large shade fits a 75 watt-equivalent CFL nicely, and the finish on the fixture is beautiful. After buying many lighting fixtures for our new 4,000 sqft house I have found all commodity lighting (bought in stores and online) is light-weight stuff made in China, no matter how much you pay. The $200 "high-end brand" equivalent of this fixture is not made one bit better.

This lamp looks very good but I was disappointed that there was no on/off switch on the cord itself. The only way to turn it on and off is with the knob on the face plate and this requires me to stand up (it's a bedside lamp) every time I want to turn it on and off. It could be much imporved with a clicker switch on the cord. Other than that I am pleased.

I really wanted the stainless steel one but it was out everywhere so we went with this one which was the same just black. The carton is pretty generic I was kind of surprised by that but it arrived on time and everything was there. It wasn't difficult to install as it had a backplate to screw to the wall. We did however have to countersink the screws because when we fastened the light it was not on there tight. This took a few minutes to do but in the end it was up and doing the job. It puts out great light and looks great all in all I love this light there is only one thing that I don't like about it and that is that the shut-off switch is at the base of the lamp instead of the cord and as I mounted this over a kitchen sink I have to unplug it from the wall to shut it off, hence the four stars. It's really hard to find a light for over your kitchen sink when you have to cupboard to attach it to and the wall is all you have to do that with. I would recommend this light to others. Looks way awesome.

No frills, sturdy, bends all around. I have mine clipped vertically to a wood shelf over my desk and I can adjust the goose neck without the clamp slipping. Its nice looking (mine is red) and has a plastic cover over the switch that's easier to turn than what is shown. The cord is about 4 feet.

The switch broke on the first day we used this lamp. We removed the black plastic knob covering the switch because it was loose, but still can't consistently get the light to turn on or off without wiggling it a lot. Maybe it's just our bad luck, but we're not impressed with the durability. The clamp is sturdy, and the light is easy to move around, giving you lots of flexibility. Perfect shape for use on the bottom of a bunk bed.

My daughter's have loft beds in their room, and I wanted to get them a small lamp to read by at night so they wouldn't have to get all the way down to turn off the overhead room light. I tried some lamps similar to these that I bought at a local store, but the plastic clamps immediately cracked and wouldn't hold.

I bought two of these lamps initially and one had a defective switch right out of the box. You turn these on and off via the little knob on the back of the red shade. When trying to turn on/off of the one that was defective, it would make a scary crackling noise and the light would intermittently flash on and off, like it wasn't a good connection.

I returned it and asked for it to be replaced, and the replacement works fine as does the other one I bought originally. I put CFL bulbs in them so they don't get too hot. While I was worried that the plastic clamp would break, it is very sturdy and has stood up well. Lastly, we like very much that the "goose neck" is adjustable so you can focus the light any direction needed by simply twisting/bending it (and it holds the position well).

I'm hopeful that the problem I had was just a single bad unit, but I didn't feel like I could legitimately give the product the full five stars given that I had a problem, so I docked it one star. Other than that, these are great in my opinion.
