This item was a nightmare to open. It was by far the worst experience I've ever had with Amazon.

First, the styrofoam used to protect the item crumbled as I touched it. My kitchen and living room were covered in tiny styrofoam balls by the time I was done setting up the lamp. Naturally, they were tracked everywhere and I had to vacuum my whole apartment. Second, this styrofoam did not even protect the lamp it arrived damaged! The lamp socket was smashed inward and twisted sideways. The lamp shade had a large scratch on it. The paint on the lamp harp was peeled off in places. There was sticky residue on the power cord. I don't know if this atrocious packaging was the manufacturer's fault or Amazon's, but it was a horrendous experience nonetheless. I needed to use the lamp right away and was able to use a wrench to bend the socket back into place and into a functional shape, so I didn't bother with a return. I did not want to deal with that styrofoam again either...

I had a few problems with the lamp aesthetic, as well. The glass diamond on my lamp has a few defects in it from when it was forged. One is an odd, flat, circular line and the other two are small dents. Also, the silver neck is shorter than pictured. I placed the lamp on my end table and when viewing it from a standing angle, the lamp shade covers up the diamond (which is the whole reason I bought this lamp I loved the diamond!). If you want to see the diamond without placing the lamp on a higher surface, you'll have to buy a taller harp (I would suggest a 10" one).

The blue color is really beautiful, and I do get compliments on the lamp, but I had such an awful experience that I internally cringe whenever people admire it. I never thought I would resent an inanimate object, but I do. Oh, I do.

Hopefully my experience was the exception, not the rule, but I still would not recommend this product to anyone.

I have a couple of expensive ceramic lamps where the wooden bases broke (after many years) and the metal parts of the lamps became pitted and rusted.

After replacing the wooden bases, lamp shades and purchasing this item, I was able to repair the lamps to where they really look nice again.

It wasn't cheap because the wooden bases alone cost about $20.00 each after shipping to Hawaii, and the new lamp shades cost about $30.00 each, but on the other hand, the lamps themselves originally cost over $230.00 each.

So taking everything into consideration, I have my expensive lamps back in working condition. What I really like about this kit is that the cord is long enough to reach plugs around the bed without having to use an extension cord.

Installation: Easy on my DW718. Kit comes with a small torx tool to remove the necessary cover plates for the switch/power assembly and worklight assembly. You have to raise the blade guard to get to one of the mounting screws for the LED worklight. No adjustments needed.

Function: Bright, ambient LED worklight certainly improves safety and awareness of immediate area surrounding the blade. Independent On/Off switch for LED light is another nice feature...if you leave the light on, it indicates that the saw is "live" or "hot" and your crazy buddy won't have the urge to pull the trigger to see if the saw is still plugged in.

The resolution of the shadow that is created by the LED downlight on the saw blade is quite remarkable. You can actually see the kerf of each tooth...lasers can't do that. The shadow accurately tracks at all angles and bevels (why wouldn't it...it's a shadow.)

Things to think about:

Performs as promised in a workshop/ garage. If you are working in the sunny outdoors, forget about seeing any shadow.

Shadow resolution is clearest when blade is close to workpiece. All of the simulated product photos show the shadow line when the saw blade is pulled down to raise the blade guard out of the way.

If your blade is not true or has runout problems, the projected shadow may not be accurate...if this is the case, you have bigger problems than a crooked shadow.

Overall, I would recommend this product.

The DeWalt DWS7085 LED worklight system is fantastic. I was able to install it in about 10 minutes and it works great. It not only shows the blade shadow for precise cuts, it also lights up the work surface. The light could be a little brighter as I sometimes use the saw outdoors in better than shop lighting. I prefer it to a laser as it shows both sides of the cut and does not need any adjustment to be precise. Great addition to a great saw.

Here are the high points...

Super easy installation the saw is prewired to accept the light and power supply.

No batteries or adapters the unit is powered directly from the saw.

There's no adjustment needed the shadow line is dead on (it can't help but be).

It doesn't matter if I'm using my regular or thin kerf blades; everything in the shadow gets cut. Nothing more, nothing less.

Here are a few other things to note not bad things, just had to get used to them...

Need to lower the blade to the workpiece to get a decent shadow.

Took a little bit to get used to the lumpy looking shadow line, since each individual carbide tooth casts a shadow.

Here are the low points...

I waited six months before deciding to by this thing STUPID!

I would buy the LED work light again in a heartbeat!

When you turn the light on as the saw approaches the material you get an exact shadow of what is going to be removed. After discovering my $210 Dewalt Miter saw did not have a laser line like every other Miter-saw on the market I went shopping. I soon discovered that the add on laser system made for my saw ($80) apparently didn't work well. Was never true and required constant fiddling. The only other option is this "work light" which also casts a shadow line on the wood your cutting. I personally think the engineers were surprised to see the shadow line and decided to advertise it as a feature. The first thing you should know is the shadow appears as you press the saw closer to the board. When the blade is fully up, the shadow is blurred by the teeth on the blade. You can sort of, kinda tell where it is on you project wood with the blade fully up. Push the blade downward and the shadow line becomes sharper. Its not laser line sharp but still clear enough to make a precision cut. (I had a Craftsman with laser and can tell you they can be way off. I had to compensate by placing the blade behind the line.) The work light is bright and useful as well. Installation consists of removing the top of the handle and installing the switch into two existing wire connections. You have to pay attention to which side the clip on the plugs are to get them oriented correctly. You then have to maneuver the top piece on while pressing the connectors to one side to get a flush fit. The second piece installs on the blade housing. Pretty much a no brainer.

Bottom line: if you have a Dewalt Miter-saw and plan on keeping it you need this work light. It should of been on the saw when you bought it, but thats Dewalt. You will suffer laser envy when your friends break out their Mitre saws...but unfortunately the Dewalt add on laser is a disaster. So welcome to the shadows...(oh,yes you can see it in the daylight too but the saw has to be pretty far down).

This is a nice sized construction vac. It has handled both water and dust easily. Forgot to put the filter back in though and the dust blew all over the space. Duh. With the filter, which can be rinsed out with a hose, the dust stayed put in the vac. I did get confused by the cover. It fits backwards, but then the hose does not attach. I called the company and studied the manual and because there was no photo of the full vac in the manual, I didn't realize I had the cover on backwards at first. The help line didn't think anyone would be so misguided to advise looking at if it was on backwards. But hey, I finally did figure it out.

This lamp fits my décor perfectly and looks like I spent a lot more for it than it cost. Although the shade was entirely wrapped and appeared to be fully protected, there was a small discoloration on the shade. My solution was to turn the lamp so the smudge was on the back side of the lamp.

The price paid is probably a bit too much for the quality, and anytime you order items such as these that have to be put together, perfection should not be expected. That being said, a couple of the glass panels had small scratches in the paint design, and a couple of the panels did not line up probably to be held securely in the bottom clips. It does operate as described and the receiver of this item (as a gift) was happy with it... that is all that matters, right?

This lamp is beautiful to the eye, looks awesome with the decor of my bedroom. Since it arrived, it was put together but has not worked. At first the lights just kept going on and off themselves non stop. I literally had to loosen bulbs to make them stop. Then when i tightened them again....NOTHING....doesn't work at all. $40 down the drain. Would cost money to send back. Two items this week I receive from Amazon not able to use...not happy one bit.

First -here is how to replace the batteries.

Line up the spike with the arm. With your right hand, grab the round section between your thumb and your index finger. Place your index finger on the top round part where the flexible arm attaches, and put your thumb against both the spike and the arm, but not touching the bottom cylinder. This will stop the middle section from rotating.

Now with your left hand, grab the cylinder on either side of the spike. Twist a half turn clockwise. It will unlock and detach in your hand.

If it is spinning 360 degrees, you are doing it wrong. If it is difficult to turn, you are doing it wrong -you shouldn't have to force it.

It will be easy to put it back in place. Just line up the tabs with the slots, then twist a half turn counter-clockwise to lock back into place.

Now for my review. The battery pack is confusing and apparently easy to break, given all the complaints about it here. It is not the least bit intuituve, and there is no indication on the packaging of how to do it. This seems like a pretty huge oversight to me.

It is alright as a book light. It is a bit dim, however the light is very smooth and even which is often not the case with LED lights.

The "spike" mechanism for anchoring the light to the book is really nice. The normal method of clipping the light to the cover or some pages always slips off and sometimes even damages the book. This slides right in place, keeping the light where you want it.

I bought this as a gift for someone, but I decided against giving it to them after trying it for myself. Overall, it's just not good enough.

ive been searching for a good book light for a while and have bought several. i think ive finally found the one. its reletively small and uses a easily obtainable (aaa) battery. also, instead of attaching to one side of the book or the other it goes right in the middle, secures nicely with no moving spring clip to break, so the light lights both pages very nicely. i like the long flexible neck which allows the light to be positioned right over the midle of the spline. as long as it lasts a fair amount of time i'd say its perfect!

I've been looking for a book light for a long time. The ones I've tried in the past just don't match up to this handy gadget that my daughter told me about. I've had no trouble seeing both pages with it. I clip it to the back binding plus some pages, enough to make it stable. I like that the light adjusts to my needs and is bright enough to see, like I said, both pages of a book. The battery replaces easily with a twist of the underside battery holder. Don't try to unscrew it from the top, that's where you can make another adjustment of the light placement along with the bendable arm.

I picked up a Spike light at a local store, hoping to use it with my Kindle 2 for reading, and it works quite well.

I use this light with my Kindle in the Amazon Kindle Leather Cover and while the gap on the light is a little bit too wide, it still fits fairly well. Once I'm settled in and reading, I don't notice it wobbling, but if it did a little bit of electrical tape or soft velcro wrapped around one section of the light clip would be enough to tighten it up. On a thicker cover, I'm sure it would fit perfectly.

Once positioned in place, I've found that the gooseneck arm is sturdy enough to keep the light from gradually sinking out of position. Being 2 small LEDs powered by a AAA battery, it isn't the brightest light ever, but certainly enough for reading the Kindle in a dark room.

Overall, a nice little light for $12, I'll be picking up another one to keep one in my travel case and one by my reading chair.

This thing broke almost immediately. The part that holds in the battery is, for no reason at all, three separate pieces held together with thin plastic clips, which have to resist an insanely powerful spring. One reviewer here mentioned duct tape; we're using electrical tape (it's a better size) to try to hold this thing together, but it's tough to even tape together because the spring inside is so stupidly oversized.

For the same price, I'm getting three book lights shipped from Hong Kong.

I am an amateur intermediate woodworker. I am happy with this General International 14" bench top drill press. This is the first General International product I have purchased. I previously had a 20 year old Delta 1/3 HP bench top radial drill press which had no crank lift mechanism. This bench top drill press offers more HP at 1/2 HP. I am happy with the included Laser guide and the built in work light. The crank lift mechanism is a real upgrade. This is a good drill press at a reasonable price if your looking for a bench top drill press. General's 17" 3/4 HP bench top drill press was highly rated by Fine Woodworking but I couldn't find one to purchase online. I would rate General's 14" bench top drill press high as well.

Being an avid woodworker and a former professional mechanic, I was looking for a high quality drill press for a reasonable price. I honestly didn't want one of the one hundred dollar Chinese made drill presses as they cannot give the level of accuracy necessary for the types of work I do. I chose this press because of its weight, size, manufacturer, and cost. It came in a pretty flimsy box by FedEx so I expected parts to be damaged but everything was intact. After assembly, I checked the alignment of the drill table to the spindle and it was perfect. Next, I checked the run out on the spindle (.005). After that, I drilled several holes in different material. 3" of hard maple with a 3/4" Forstner bit left a perfectly smooth hole. Drilling 1/2" steel with a 1/2" bit was similarly accurate. I give this drill press 5 stars. My only suggestions for improvement is in the packing. If you check out General Industrial Tools website you will also find this is the table top version of the 14" floor model. Any way you look at it, the drill press will give years of solid and accurate service.

This was one heavy box, but everything came intact. The assembly directions are OK--not great--and I eventually figured out how to put the drill press together. At one point I thought the column maybe did not come with the proper hardware, because it didn't match the written directions. It was merely a case of a collar having moved in transit. Fit and finish is just fine. Of course, lots of sticky residue on most of the metal, to prevent corrosion during shipping, but that's to be expected. The drill press works great and is quite quiet, considering the size of the motor. I'm happy with this purchase.
