Reviews of Alvin Combination Lamp Color - White
When you telescope the arm out so far (and that's why I bought it!) it needs a super strong clamp to hold it, and the clamp they use, while quite good, could be even heavier-duty. I beefed it up by drilling a hole in the bottom of my work table with a spade bit for the clamp to rest in, and now it works. I have not yet put an incandescent bulb in, but one of these days I will, and that feature will be especially helpful in judging colors. Good lamp for the money.

I have been runnin these lights for quite a long time inside my custom show truck and they hold up well. very happy
This green I used as interior lights in my car, love the look, just be aware of the possible waste of non working strips when you have to cut.
Finally the sticky on the back of these is the worst I've had, paper often pulls off the adhesive off the stip, paper rips and isn't as sticky as most, they may not be using 3M like others are (like the clear I've used before).

These are nice as a whole, however when cutting and soldering them I've found they often don't work, guessing the cutting does something to the contacts inside. I'm very good at soldering so I don't question that, I've got over six rolls (with many solder points) of the clear installed at my house plus many more that I have installed in kitchens, living rooms and many other applications on side jobs.This green I used as interior lights in my car, love the look, just be aware of the possible waste of non working strips when you have to cut.

This Quoizel Tiffany Butterfly Accent Lamp is one of the best & most beautiful gift items I have spent money on. i could not agree with the previous reviewer more , the picture does not do this justice. I have had and used many lighted magnified lamps. This "Professional Fluorescent Magnifier Lamp is every bit what the name sayes and then some! When I opened the package I was impressed with the construction and style. The width of the lamp creates a nice wide umbrella of light after you kickstart the two fluorscent bulbs on both sides of the light. The lights are individually switched to save energy if all the light is not needed , not me I love to flood the area with light as I troubleshoot and repair electronic PC boards both thru the board and surface mount technology components. I like the lamp magnifier cover to keep finger prints and dust off the lens when not being used. What I really like the most is when I need to get a closer look, BOY can I get a closer look! The 7.5" x 6.25" lens is beautiful, crystal clear without distortion of anykind if you stay within the focal length of the lens. This can be a little tricky if you aren't used to a 5 diopter lens. Once you get the hang of it you will be very happy that you purchased this size and power of lamp. I read a review that addressed the distortion of the lens and the lack of light. I found none of this. When you first turn on any fluorescent light even instant start lamps it takes a little while for the lamps to warm up to their most efficient operating temp. When they reach their operating temp they are at their full lumen output. This varies at different ambient temps.
Ex: cold work shop = longer time for full brightness. Warm work shop = shorter time for full brightness. This lamp has plenty of light when it reaches temp. Well this is all this tech has to say at the moment, got to get back to work under my magnifier!!!!!

I'll try not to repeat information on the website or covered by other reviewers. This lamp is substantial and well-constructed. The clamp will hold the base in place without twisting or sliding but you will need to crank down on it pretty tightly. The arms have enclosed springs and hold the magnifier in the position of choice without any appreciable drift. Two fluorescent tubes are provided with separate switches. Even after prolonged use, they do not radiate more than slight warmth to the face of the user or to the work. They provide ample, even illumination even for work on dark materials. The lens is large and free of annoying "cheap glass green" color. Another reviewer complained about distortion but this is unavoidable in a large lens of this type and modest cost. Center your work in the lens and distortion will not be a significant problem.Lamps of this type are available with magnification factors from 2 to 8 diopters. The higher the magnification, the shorter the working distance. You may wish to go to an art or drafting supply store and look through magnifiers of different strengths before making your selection.
I have used similar magnifiers that cost much more but I find no functional difference between them and this much less expensive one.
Highly recommended.

For the size of the light, size of the lens and overall weight, I am very disappointed with this light. There is a tremendous amount of distortion, so why make a lens this large? I would return it but I purchased it from JL Industrial and they don't allow returns unless it is defective, stupid me for not reading their return policy. The lamp shade is a straight-sided, frosted-glass shade meant to be used on a standard lamp (hanging instead of standing upside down as the safety sticker inside indicates). In the product photo, the shade has a clear curve to it, to continue the curve of the wooden body of the lamp. That's the first departure from what's advertised here.
Second, in the product photo, the base appears to be turned from a single piece of dark-stained walnut, based on the continous grain. The actual lamp has at least six joined peices of wood, with at least three visible from any angle, and I'm fairly certain it's veneer given the overall weight.
The socket was off-center, and the retention ring provided to hold the shade in place is cheap plastic. The shade itself just sits on top of the lamp with no groove or lip to hold it in place. The retention ring is screwed down around outside of the socket, and clamps the shade in place. Since the socket is off center, the shade doesn't want to sit centered on top of the lamp.
That said, it looks OK sitting on my desk in my office, under a set of shelves attached to the wall. Just don't look too closely.
I think I could have bought the shade for $5-7, and the base (or something similar) for $15-20 if I just looked around. I'm completely at a loss to explain why this lamp sells for $100 (or more).

We have two of these lamps in addition to a floor lamp of the same design. These are beautiful products with solid wood finishes and real glass shades. Purchased desk lamp in May 2012. The lamps were delivered rather fast, there was some damage to the lamp shades but didn't bother to contact seller in regards to the damage. The way they packed the lamps was excellent. I am not sure if I would suggest these lamps. I rated them a 3 for it wasn't what I expected for the price in which I paid. They are still nice lamps don't get me wrong.

Nice set of lamps but the lamp shades were far darker than in the picture. Found minor damage on the Lamp shades but I intend to keep them anyway. I rated them a 3 for good reasons, but the were delivered to us rather fast. Over all I would still suggest these lamps to my friends. I wish that they would have had a more finished product, I wouldn't suggest buying this lamp if your looking for some thing different but vintage looking. Easy to wire, quality product. Be aware that the knob has a short shaft, however. In my case, the floor lamp in which I was installing this socket had a decorative housing in which the socket was set, and there was a one or two inch gap between the socket itself and this housing. The lamp manufacturer dealt with this by having a long knob on the existing socket which I was replacing. As a result, I had to construct an extension to the knob on this dimmer socket in order to fit through the lamp housing. If your lamp has a housing around the socket, be aware of the possibility that you will have to similarly fiddle with the knob to this dimmer, or construct an extension as I did.

If you can use a screw driver and tighten wire nuts then you can install this dimmer into your table or floor lamps. We have several 3-way lamps (both table and floor) and I have changed them all over to this dimmer. 3-way bulbs are expensive and once you install this dimmer you can just install a 150w bulb and never have to purchase an expensive 3-way bulb again. We wanted to replace our bedroom lamps with dimmable sockets. Finding exactly what I wanted was harder than I anticipated. Then I found these, and I was really excited to wire them up. These work well as dimmers, but the casing is a bit flimsy. For the price, I'd expected stronger sockets (like the ones I had to replace!), plus the dimmer knobs fall off often. They snap back on easily enough, but it's not fun to fumble around with a small knob in the dark when all I want to do is go to sleep.
