When you telescope the arm out so far (and that's why I bought it!) it needs a super strong clamp to hold it, and the clamp they use, while quite good, could be even heavier-duty. I beefed it up by drilling a hole in the bottom of my work table with a spade bit for the clamp to rest in, and now it works. I have not yet put an incandescent bulb in, but one of these days I will, and that feature will be especially helpful in judging colors. Good lamp for the money.
