For around $40, this little light is a decent deal in my opinion. I wanted a little light to cast a nice, moody glow on my workspace and for this I found the perfect product. It doesn't have many (or any, really) "bells and whistles" (like a dimmer or swiveling base), but the most important element, the light, is intuitively adjustable, dense, and simply pleasing. I didn't realize that it charges iPhone/iPad style: a USB + power adapter set up, so it's nice to know that it can be powered by a laptop, etc. It's small--a little bigger than a baseball--so it can be squeezed into smaller spaces if need be. And the overall build quality is better than I thought it would be (again, keeping the price in mind). So not the best light on earth, but a solid little light for the money.

I ordered 2 of these lights and they are really good. Changing lights, with simple controls. And the In built battery makes it more handy cos you can use them on the fly. Only i had expected them to be a little bit more brighter than they are. However, they are just what you need to set the mood in a smallish room.. or you need 2 of them for a large room.

I highly recommend this great product.

I needed a new desk lamp to use at the dining room table when I spread out references for a large project. A normal table lamp simply did not provide enough illumination. As this is the first LED lamp I have ever owned, I was a little concerned that it would not be bright enough. Well, I was pleasantly surprised: it is quite bright. Also, the adjustable positioning features of this lamp allow me to point the light exactly where it needs to be. The lamp has three brightness settings; but I always use it (for reading) at the brightest setting.

According to the product description, this lamp produces 432 Lumens at 8.37 watts. I connected this lamp through a Kill A Watt (P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor), and here are the power consumption readings: brightest setting 7 watts; middle setting 5 watts; lowest setting 3 watts. This is quite a nice savings, compared to ordinary light bulbs.

I bought this lamp for normal, every-day use; however, a month after it arrived, I had the opportunity to use it for backup lighting when the power line to my neighborhood was accidentally cut. I discovered that this LED lamp will run while connected to a modified-sine-wave inverter (supplied from a 20 amp hour battery). Since a CFL bulb cannot be operated with most modified-sine-wave inverters, this means that this LED lamp is a good choice for backup lighting. Since this lamp has even lower power consumption than a CFL bulb, you can maintain lighting on a battery-powered inverter for considerably longer.

I was looking around searching for a nice LED desk lamp. I looked at other online retailers but they were very expensive. I came across Prism-lightening randomly and saw this lamp and it seemed perfect and it had a much better price. I choose the metallic grey one with anti-glaring. The lamp stands out nicely in my apartment. The packaging was very nicely done and gave a nice first impression of the product I was dealing with and gave me confidence I made the right purchase once I put the thing together which was easy and fun. I have had this lamp for around a month or so. Very nice quality. Good light for reading, studying. Very Stylish. If I could make one change, it would be to make the base just a little bit heavier ... that way when you adjust the angle of the arm it would be more secure. Sometimes the base lifts up off the desk when I am moving the arm. Other than that, very satisfied.

Summary first:

I received the gray. An excellent color with aluminum accents. I think it looks better in person than in the pictures.

The base is plastic with metal inside and heavy enough for stability. The lamp is made of good quality plastic and some metal. Overall solid quality construction. The LED's are recessed in the thin lamp arm section so they don't shine in your eyes. The diffuser works well and evenly lights work area with no glare. Power consumption is very low at 8.4W on max brightness. The lamp is just barely warm after hours of use. Lamp control is by touch button similar to a touch screen on a smartphone. Touch button is lighted when off. There is no separate on/off button.

I love this lamp and would not hesitate to buy it again. The longer I have it the more I like it.

Light output: Max 500 lumen. For comparison 400 Lumens= 40W incandescent and 800 Lumens= 60W incandescent. Keep in mind that this lamps light is reflected down so it will appear to put out more light.

Dimming: 3 levels. No separate on/off, so you have to cycle down from high, med, low to off. No big deal for me. Touch control works well similar to a smart phone touch screen.

Light color: Halfway between warm white and bright white on the color spectrum. A good choice in my opinion. Not too white like office fluorescent lighting.

Light diffuser: Works well. You can easily see the individual LED's looking directly at them, but the lamp diffuser evenly lights your desk or work area. The LED lamp arm swivels about 15 degrees.

Adjustability of lamp:

1) BASE swivels only 45 degrees left or right. 90 degrees or more would be much better, but not a deal breaker for me.

2) VERTICAL arm adjusts nearly flat front or back. (almost 90 degrees forward and almost 90 degrees backwards.

3) LAMP ARM will fold down flush with the vertical arm and 45 degrees higher than horizontal. Sorry if that description is confusing.

4) LAMP ARM TILT is only about 15 degrees. This is enough tilt to keep the lamp from shining in your eyes.

Note: The lamp joint(s) do creek a little when brand new. This does not last long.

LED life:

You should NEVER have to replace any of the LED's. They are made of silicon. The same stuff as your computer microprocessors are made from (Intel) though the manufacturing process is much different. The built in power supply is much more likely to fail before any of the LED's.

Emergency Lighting: Since this lamp uses so little power it can be used as emergency lighting if you have some type of emergency power source either generator or battery with 12 DC to AC 110V.

LED lighting costs have come down a lot but are still expensive. Still a good value at less than $100 considering the LED's will last a very long time, good light color, 3 light levels and excellent construction, materials and very low power consumption.

I also have the Prism TLC-4300BK (more expensive) that has 3 light color option and a few extra features. I always use it on the white color. Great lamp to, if you don't mind the extra cost.

i like this light. i don't mind the 'tap three times' to turn it off .. minor inconvenience.

my wife has to use it and she is kinda picky. she loves it, too.

it's bright, doesn't monopolize desk space, is fairly adjustable.

minor gripes: no shades on it. i sit on the other side of it while watching tv and she is at her desk.

i had to add a shade so it wouldn't always shine in the corner of my eye.

light itself swivels forward and backward but not that much. should be wider swivel.

would recommend to others.

I use this light as my desk light at home, and it's perfect. It is very flexible and can suit any desk layout. The base is heavy so there's never a worry of it falling over. and if it does fall over the bulbs are so well protected that they will probably be fine.

Not sure if the ionizer does anything but the placebo effect worked on me! If you're office is totally quiet, you can actually hear the ionizer fan running by placing your fingers over the opening, so it is doing something.

The light is very bright, very white. Can't look at directly, but reflects supremely well. Keeps you alert and working better than most lights, as far as lights can keep you alert and working go.

One concern is that the bulb for the light is custom, so you can't buy one in a local store (Walmart, Ace, Lowes, Home Depot, etc.). That said, I've had my lamp for 4 years now and use it just about everyday, and I'm still using the bulb that came with it. It'll be a pain to replace in a decade, but by then I'll probably have a new light.

Overall, excellent light, IS easy on the eyes considering it's white light, and total design makes for a durable lamp that should last you years.

I bought this lamp 3 1/2 years ago and I have really liked the quality of light that this lamp gives, and the adjustable arm to aim the light where you want it. However, the original bulb just died and I cannot find a replacement bulb available anywhere. So now it is worthless. That is a big disappointment -not to mention wasteful.

Bought this for a party we were planning on putting it in a medium sized room not huge or high ceilings. The lights are like the size of a staple and reflected a few feet max. It totally sucked, enough to have me come straight to the computer to write this review. I suppose if you were in a bathroom it might look cool but this is really cheap and terrible.

When I purchased my lamp there were no reviews yet so I just went by description. I'm so glad I took a chance. It's so classy looking. I have a kitten who loves to play with the little chains to turn on the lights(one or two)and because the lamp base is fairly heavy, she can't knock it over. What a relief. Looking at the lamp from across the room the base appears to be more of a burnished gold rather than the silver in the add. This is a great plus fo me as I'm not a great fan of silver. I have this lamp on my computer desk and use multi-colored "stained glass" type lightbulbs in it for mood lighting in the evening. The colors with this glass shade are beautiful. Very classy, heavy base and well made lamp. I agree the base looks less silver and more bronze color from a distance, which I like. The 2 star review... I originally had the same problem. The bulbs were showing under the shade. This was due to not removing all the washers in the base before installing the shade. The shade did not sit all the way down and the bulbs were visible. Taking it apart and installing the washers correctly solved this problem. Overall very happy with the purchase.

A few weeks ago we bought a new bedroom set, everything mathed except for our lamps. My wife had a Tiffany style lamp on her nightstand while I had a cast-off floor lamp on my side of the bed. We purchased these bedside lamps because of their simple mission type styling and their price and we're very pleased with them. The walnut look goes fine with our new cherry furniture and the height is just right for reading in bed.

Love this lamp in my home office. The room is painted forest green which makes it dark, even during the day, but this lamp gives off tons of light. The only problem was that the cord had to be pushed through the base very slowly in order to be assembled due to the packing foam sticking to it. Thought I would have to return the lamp, but with persistence and small fingers I was finally able to get it done. Manufacturer packing leaves a lot to be desired.

This rugged little lamp is as an excellent design. The frame is sturdy and made of superior grade plastic and my lamp has gone through thousands of openings and closings in the past and has shown no appreciable wear. I've also dropped it down a height of ten feet by accident, and while I wouldn't recommend repeating that incident the unit came through without a scratch. The lamp is incredibly versatile beyond its construction, the light is strong and the light the bulb produces mimics daylight. This makes it ideal for small craft and repair jobs, and also makes it an excellent source of supplementary light for indoor plants.

The only reason I didn't rate this product 4 stars instead of a five star rating is that the cord of the light is about 4 feet. which is rather short for a work/craft light, and carrying around is tiresome. The cord can also become a problem when using it as a work lite as the cord is not detachable and can be a hazard. In my case stumbling on the cord was what caused the ten foot drop. If a relatively short non-detachable power cord isn't a factor, then I can't recommend this light enough. I may even buy another in the near future myself.

This thing does everything you'd expect a Magnifier Workbench Lamp to do. There was another brand I found about the same price form a different seller and the reviewer said the springs were so tight that the lamp did not want to stay in place. This particular one has a couple of wing nuts at 2 of the elbows so you can put it into position and tighten them up. The glass stays exactly where you put it. If you loosen the wing nuts the springs are strong enough to pull the arms back to a folded position. For the price you can't pass this one up if you're looking for a magnigying glass to do hobby work on small things.

I've used this a numbe of times now. I have very poor eyes and this helps with repairs of small items like bearing, bicycle parts and pulling splinters. Leave the elbow fitting loose and then tighten them up. Stays in position just fine. The cover keeps dust off, but as extra protection for the underside light, I completely bag the head light with a plastic bag and twisty tie b/c of my dusty environment. I move it around easily from workbench to work desk too. Good lamp for the money and packed like gold from Ft. Nox.

Does it's job very well after increasing the tension on all the hinges so it stays put. Two improvements would be possible:

1) The lens protection cover tends to fall down when the lens is at an angle. There is a spring mechanism to hold it up but it is not strong enough. I rigged some rubber bands as hold down springs.

2) The lamp gives off too much heat. That is annoying since one tends to work with one's head close to the lens.

As I get older my eyes needed one of these.

Seeing the preponderance of very favorable reviews, I was somewhat hesitant to give this lamp a relatively low rating, but this was my experience with the lamp. First, the supporting arms are under-engineered for the size of the lamp head, which is 10" long and 7.75" wide it's not a featherweight head, which is not necessarily a bad thing but the rest of the rig needs to easily and freely support it. Second, the thumbscrews are undersized and it takes more torque than feels comfortable to fix the arm in position I got a sense that I would not want to be using them often because they might fail. Third, the uppermost thumbscrew secures the lamp head, and the head wants to rotate if not fully torqued down. Fourth, there is a lot of perimeter distortion in the glass. What's good about it are (1) the brightness of the lamp (florescent), (2) the glass cover which stays up by friction, (3) the very nice base made of cast metal not junk stamped parts, and (4) the protective cover over the bulb, something I've not seen before.

I use this type of lamp daily. You might not, and its shortcomings may work for you your mileage may vary. I am replacing a well-worn old companion lamp and was trying to get away with replacing it for $50. That didn't work.

Lastly, to keep things in perspective, here's the non-magnifying workbench lamp that I use and that I absolutely adore ... I want a magnifying lamp built like this:

We dont have any problems with lamp staying in place after setting it up. It is a good solid product and we are happy with the purchase. The problem I have and hence 4stars instead of 5 is that the light bulb burned out after 1 month from purchase. I think that is too short it is not being used everyday or 24/7. So I had to buy replacement and will see how long one bulb lasts.
