Reviews of Mission Tiffany Style Table Lamp

Hey folks bought this lamp becuase I've always wanted an art deco style Tiffany lamp. My grandparents had a few in their 1913 house and I have always admired them. Since I'm very familiar with the real ones I would like to point out that traditionally these lamps were made from leaded glass. hand cut glass and soldered together so to speak with lead. So no two or very few were ever alike. Each one was different. This lamp here, this new one, it's as close as you're going to get. The glass is REAL no plastic as some would suggest giving lesser reviews. At first glance one might assume that it's not well made because of inconsistencies but I believe those to be true to the hand made nature (not sure if these are but they look it) It's a heavy lamp like the old ones were and the thing is solid. You pull on one of or both of the chains and it does not feel like it's going to break. Is it an heirloom piece? I don't know if you can find them on eBay the real ones are still better in my opnion but they have LEAD so you might want think about that. I don't know about the new ones seems not to be lead based on color.

This is a nice addition to the arts and crafts style sunroom. It looks great against the exposed brick wall and casts a warm light, which I'm currently reviewing this product under. The only complaint I have is that the square top screw, which anchors the shade to the lamp body, is a bit abrupt and doesn't transition well from the flat shade top. This is a small aesthetic qualm, but if you have the lamp placed in an area where you are looking down on the top of it, then it bothers me a little. However, for being a relatively inexpensive lamp, this is a minor complaint. The bronze base is very sturdy and looks great....and the plastic shade is a dead ringer for leaded glass

Best Deals for Mission Tiffany Style Table Lamp

My lamp arrived earlier than predicted and in very protective packaging, though I would have preferred fewer peanuts. Although there were no directions included, the method was intuitive, and lamp went together easily. The shade is just what I hoped for; burnt orange, ivory, mossy green accents. Regular round bulbs showed just below lower edge of lampshade, an effect I dislike. However, I decided to try the newer "corkscrew" long-life bulbs, and they are just narrower enough to be hidden beneath shade! I am using 40 watt in both sockets, which gives nice glow in a rather dark corner. I believe 60 watt bulbs are the maximum that should be used. Also, since sockets are independently controlled, a lower wattage could be used on one side as just a nightlight. I like this lamp so much I may buy another; definitely recommended. Addition January 6, 2012: This lamp is so lovely in my living room that I did decide to buy another for a diagonal corner of same room. I continue to recommend this highly.

This is a beautiful lamp to give you warm lighting for your room. The Shade is rather simple, but casts a beautiful light.

I like the fact also that there are two separate pulls and lights. The lamp takes 60 watt bulbs. If you need, however, task lighting, you may want to look at another lamp, as this is more for adding a warm cast of inviting lighting than a light to read by.

Great lamp pleased I purchased.

Pros:

-beautiful colors. Better in person. Not over the top simple and tasteful

-very bright bright for the size

-perfect Tiffany if you're looking for something in the 14" height range

Cons:

-light switch is on the cord and it's much further down the cord than I'd like. Makes access to turn on/off tricky.

-getting the top piece that screws together to stop spinning takes some work but ingot it.

Overall, excellent purchase!

So after buying this lamp, I had to eat year-old protein powder as food for like a month.

Whatever, it was worth it! One must make sacrifices.

Its actually a very awesome lamp. I move around a lot, like 1.2 times a year on average. So I was surprised to find how easy this thing was to take apart and fold. It works great and the brightness is impeccable. I use it to light up my new living room at night since I can't find my floor lamp in storage. I was studying the GMAT with this thing and I had no trouble. It blasts out clean cool light and not overwhelming at all. If you want a stylish and high quality, not to mention eco-friendlier, desk lamp, Koncept is your guy!

I sacrificed real food, for goodness sake! And I still don't regret it.

I purchased this lamp mainly because it folded up flat for easy moving (as I'm in college, space is important). The lamp has 5 different brightness levels (controlled via TOUCHPAD!). The LEDs are very bright and light up my entire desk quite well.

Con:

The only con I have is that the lamp head is kind of loose, so it's hard to keep it from folding down on itself sometimes. It takes a few times to get it to stay at your preferred angle. Not too much of a con, but can be annoying if a nudge the lamp hard enough and the head just folds in.

Overall a good purchase (as I desperately needed to get a desk lamp), and I definitely recommend this lamp!

Styling: Aesthetic and functional style of this lamp is amazing. I love the accent colors along the top and the colored touch pad. The ac to dc transformer is small enough that it doesn't obstruct other plugs, a huge plus. Did I mention it has a touch pad? Fancy!

Efficiency/ Energy use: My killawat measures a 12 watt pull at full power a bit more than the description claims but still just a fraction of the pull from its halogen powered predecessor.

Potential negatives:

Light colorThe light has a definite blue color to it. I don't see this as a problem, but buyers should be aware as many have a strong preference toward warm light spectrum, this is most certainly on the cold side.

FingerprintsThe entire black surface of the lamp is high gloss, and a finger print magnet. After only a day of use it's covered in them. I don't see this as a problem but again, that's personal preference.

CostDang, this thing is costly, I mean yeah, it looks great, but it's a desk lamp. I'm still trying to justify to myself why I spent this much.

All in all, I'm satisfied. I reserve 5 star ratings only for phenomenal products. Don't get me wrong, this is a great product and I'm very satisfied and would recommend it.

The good? This is a bright LED lamp with modern styling. The multiple dim settings are nice. The bad? Dollar store quality manufacturing (made in China of course)... The case is made of cheap, glossy black plastic. The arm doesn't lock in place and is very loose and easy to knock out of position. The power connector is also loose and moving the lamp can easily shut it off (even if the power adapter is connected). The touch controls are kind of neat, but that also makes it easy to hit the wrong thing.

The basic purchasing metrics; the lamp was

priced very competitively

shipped in a timely manner

But, most importantly... This is a quality and stylish lamp that I will treasure for years. It is a real classic in form. The main metal fitting appear to be be bronze (or finished in a manner that would take some real metallurgy knowledge to tell the difference). The legs are constrained together by nicely finished heavy leather straps. The lamp supports a 3-way bulb. The switch mechanism appears to be quality with a nice crisp snap as your rotate it between positions. The wooden legs are uniformly cut and have a nice, clean finish.

My local mega-lighting store couldn't do as well and certainly not on the price. Now I'm thinking that this lamp could use a brother or sister from the Authentic Models product line. Time to start saving my pennies.

The only thing that a buyer might consider... The lamp is keeping a nice, straight vertical line with the tripod fully extended. This consumes about a 2.5 foot footprint. If you didn't have the space to fully expand the tripod, I don't know if it would keep a vertical or develop a tendency to lean. The center straps are at their "tightest" notch. However, a leather hole punch might be able to open up one more notch for narrowing the tripod stance.

However, the cheesey fake story-telling that the manufacturer chooses for a description of their product is annoying. It would be really nice if they just gave the facts (what is the wood? rosewood, I think. is it bronze? let you know ahead of time that it is a 3-way switch, etc...)

I got attracted to the Art Nouveau style of this lamp and it reminds me of Paris where I want to go again before I die. Do not get disappointed when you open the box like I did: the lamp will show its full beauty once you lit it. Dim all the other lights and get mesmerized. It matches everything in my living room (it will match any living room unless you like the minimalist New Age style) and I cannot stop admiring it. They say you cannot buy happiness sometimes you can in a form of a lamp, strange as it may sound.

I have an incandescent floor lamp and the Clapper works great with it. OTOH, another lamp is fitted with fluorescent bulbs, and the Clapper doesn't work at all. I called the manufacturer and only then was told that the Clapper will not work with a fluorescent fixture. Nowhere is that mentioned. Beware.

This little device was more of an irritation to me that I finally unplugged the sucker. I pluged a lamp that I have in my bedroom to the clapper and it would turn on and off at the slightest noise! If I dropped the remote on the floor, it would go on/off. If my TV made a loud noise, it would turn on/off. If I was talking on the phone, it would turn on/off. I used to joke that I had a strobe light in my bedroom, but it got too much for me to handle that I had to finally unplug it. It didn't come with a sensitivity switch and was VERY sensitive to sound, so in short, don't buy it unless you plan to live in silence.

I loved the idea of the Clapper. I live alone so the clapping sound wouldn't bother me and I looked forward to the convenience factor. My first Clapper lasted about 4 months and then mysteriously stopped working, but the dead unit did smell suspiciously funny like an electrical short.

Did I learn my lesson? Oh, no! I went ahead and purchased another Clapper some months later. The night before last, the lamp I connected this one to started blinking. I checked the lightbulb and it was OK. It was only went I got down close to the Clapper plugged into the outlet that I heard the dreaded sizzling sound and saw a flash of electricity. Once again the Clapper crapped out, this time in a different lamp, different outlet. Will I never learn?

Thank goodness nothing happened due to the highjinks of this faulty device. Can you say "housefire"? Again, how dumb am I? Is the unit UL-approved and, if so, have any other complaints been lodged about it? How does one find this out?

I like my gadgets, but "buyer beware" on this one.

My adult daughter is handicapped from an automobile accident and can not get up to turn on or off the lights. So, if no one was with her as it got dark she had to sit there in the dark until someone came. I gave her the clapper and it worked great for her. The amazing thing is, she has no fine motor skills and can not clap hard enough, so she just yells at it and it works!! She yells "On" and the lights respond and come on and yells "Off" and they go off. It has given me peace of mind and been a great comfort to us knowing that she can control the lights. The first one finally wore out, now I am buying another one.

Nice lamp. HOWEVER, where the bulbs are inserted could have been attached better. I do not know how to correct this IF that is possible, nor what tool to use if it was. As a result the bulbs which show are unbalanced.
