It was last month when I saw this product here on amazon. The first time I saw it, I immediately thought that it would make a perfect present for my mother. These are beautiful Lamps. I was looking for a black and white lamp with a 150watt three-way switch so I purchased 2 of them.

They were delivered in a timely manner, however, when I unpacked and assembled them they could only accommodate a maximum wattage of 100. I was disappointed because I really needed the extra wattage. As I assembled the lamps the shade holder doesn't properly aline so the knob which turns the lamp on and off rest too close to one side of the cover assembly making it cumbersome to turn the lamp on and off. I contacted the seller to express my disappointment with the ad description and was told there was nothing they could do to correct it. I kept them because of the design and finish. They look great on my end tables.

I have a hard time justifying paying the exorbitant $200+ for some of these arty deco lights out there. This light has a beautiful pewter finish and glass design which easily beats the cheap Hampton Bay stuff that Home Depot sells in both quality and appearance. I wired it up to a flex track system with a pendant adapter and it looks great!

The only thing I docked a star on is in the description where it mentions that it comes with 3 x 12" rods and 2 x 6" rods (unless this was corrected). In the box I only received 3 x 12" rods with no 6" adapters unless they omitted it from the packaging by accident. Whatever the case may be I didn't need them anyway but just be aware of this when considering this as a purchase.

My camp is off the grid because I want quiet. That means NO GENERATOR RUNNING when I want to read. PLUS I wanted something that looks good enough to be in a real living room. PLUS the light has to be plentiful. Got it all with this lamp. AND it doubles as an accent light because of the built in dimmer.

I have had my floor lamp for 6 months now. I wanted to wait before writing this to make sure my product worked properly. I am happy to say the lamp works wonderfully and better than expected. The light output is nice-more than any battery operated lamp I've seen (and I've seen many). I love how it is portable so I can take it to any part of my room, especially when there is no outlet. Even better, our power has gone out a few times this year already and I was never at a loss to read my books. The adapter plug is convenient too, when you choose to plug it in. Glad I made this purchase!

This is a high quality product, satin brass finish and greatly exceeded my expectations. It comes in five pieces, which I screwed together in 15 minutes, taking my time as I drank a cup of coffee at the kitchen table. The light head consists of 30 LEDs, provides plenty of light, and the unit is a fine piece of furniture. I was expecting something like the skinny floor lamp I use here at home, and which I bought at IKEA...and please, no disrespect to IKEA, because their lamp works just fine. But this unit has a heavy, solid base, and works well on either four D-cells, or the AC adaptor. The batteries are readily accessible on the underside of the lamp base. I will be using this in my high country cabin as a reading lamp, and can hardly wait to get it up there. My wife however, said we should keep it here at the house because it's such a nice looking floor lamp! No way. I was skeptical at first. I had looked for months for a battery operated reading light. Most of what I found was cheap and ugly. I wanted a reading light that did not cost an arm and a leg, had the option of battery operation (my reading couch is in the middle of a room and an electric wire would invariably become a tripping hazard and a source of constant nagging from my wife).

Then after months of searching I found this LED battery operated light (with the option of also connecting to an electrical outletand yes, the cord was included) .

I am quite happy with the performance of this reading light, it is sturdy and quiet. It has a dimmer switch which is extraordinarily convenient for quiet undisturbed reading.

I have had the light for almost a month and it is still working fine. I am actually ordering another one as guess who has commandeered the light? You are right! the nagging wife is using it now to read almost every night...

This is a good product, functional, inexpensive and I did not have to send them my first born in order to pay for it (some lights I've seen going for 800 bucks).

SIX MONTHS UPDATE:

I am more convinced than before of the quality and practicality of this reading light. It is still in one piece and working well. I have used 2 battery replacements in 6 months and the light continues to work flawlessly.

Lamp is attractive and perfect for reading. Love the dimmer option and adjustable neck. Safer than running wires under the rug and a lot less expensive than installing a floor outlet in concrete. Great that there is also an AC plug if I decide to use the lamp in another location. Perfect for me.

The lamp itself is nice looking and I do love the two lights being adjustable to direct the light exactly where you need it. If you put the top light upward toward the ceiling, it gives off a full-room dim light up.

The one thing about the lamp I'm not that satisfied with is the bulbs stick out a bit too far out of the shades. If the shades were an inch longer, it would be perfect. With the end of the bulbs being exposed, it makes it too eye-blinding to look directly at the lamp when turned on.

This was a great purchase. Even though the shades are made of plastic, the lamp is very functional and nice looking. It is especially convenient to have the ability to direct the beam of light in which direction you need. By keeping one pointed up to the ceiling, it projects a good amount of light. We keep the other projected downward towards the table and it give a more subdued light. It is almost like a 3 way light depending on which one is switched on or if both are switched on.

I purchased one of these about 6 months ago on a closeout sale from a local Fortunoffs store. It was good at first, with the exception that there is a lot of glare from the sides because the LED's are not recessed far enough. Other than that it ran cool and provided ample light for my needs. The length of the goose neck was not a problem and it supported the head well at a variety of angles without sagging. The problem is that it lasted less than 100 hours. The LED's began failing one row of 4 at a time till now only 1 LED flickers when you turn it on, the remaining 19 are off. Just before posting this review, I sent an e-mail to Adesso to see what they can do about it. Had it not failed, I would have given it 4 stars (I deduct 1 star for the side glare problem).

Here is the follow up:

This is a follow up to the review I wrote a few days ago. I just spoke to Kavita Bora, who is a customer service manager for Adesso, Inc. about my "eternity" lamp lasting less than 100 hours. Her response was that they offer no warranty on their items to the end user at all. There is no warranty registration card that comes with the item for this reason. She admitted that they often receive defective merchandise from their manufacturer in China and they only do returns to the retailers they do business with. The customers only recourse is through the retailer they purchaed the item from, the manufacturer, Adesso, Inc. will not stand behind the product at all. I cannot recommend anyone buy this product, or any other Adesso, Inc. product for this reason. I would like to lower my rating from 2 stars to 1 star, but I can't figure out how to do that.

I have to agree with the previous review. This was a great lamp for the first month that I had it. However, a single row of LEDs has begun to flicker and after reading the previous review, I am aware of what is to come. I cannot recommend this for anyone, especially for this price!

Another unhappy user. Really like the lamp, but the rows of LED's started to flicker after a few months, and now 50% of them have stopped working and the remaining ones flicker so much that impossible to use for reading. Seller says bulbs are not covered by warranty which may be fine for an ordinary lamp but ridiculous for an LED lamp as no easy way to replace them!!!

Avoid unless you want to pay $10/month for a reading light which is what I calculated mine ended up costing me.

If your expecting this product to look exactly like the picture then you will be greatly disappointed, it was delivered with a different base, the base looks like their other cheaper products that have a round base...the only difference is that the round base is bigger maybe, the wood was light colored wood with brown leg pegs, the pyramid was nice but not as orange or that looked anything like the picture (which I expected), also when I got it it had a crack in the switch and when I plugged it in it did not work, so I sent it back and the second one I got the turn style on the switch was popped off but I popped it back on...plugged it in and it worked just fine, I liked it so much that I was willing to keep it and put up with it, so far I have noticed that the air quality seems to be better and it helped get rid of the smell in the room after my husband smoked his cigar, it also sets a nice energy vibe in the room, I am now going to buy more salt lamps for the rest of my house.

My neighbor has horrible allergies which send her to the allergist for treatments twice a week. She was house sitting for me an entire week and she said her doctor wanted to know which HVAC filter I used because her congestion was great that whole week. Since I just use the bottom of the line cheapest air filter available we determined it must be my salt lamp. The lamp gives a really warm soothing light. A great feature is the dimmer switch so you can have a brighter mood light with a yellow glow or dim it all the way to give a glowing ember-like golden halo. It is a perfect night light, or the kind of pleasant background light while you're listening to music or meditating. It is surprisingly heavy so will need to be on a solid piece of furniture. The wooden base is good because it is very subtle and doesn't interfere with the visual presence of the light when it is on. I haven't had to change the bulb yet but saved the instructions since it doesn't look like changing the bulb will be simple, but we'll jump off that bridge when we get to it! Enjoy!

In 2008 these bulbs were $2.50 or $3.00 in the stores. Now it seems GE needs your money to build more ugly bird-killing windmills. Maybe I bought enough to leave some in my will. Hopefully the Bulb Police won't knock at my door before I croak.

The 15 watt filament usually blows first. You can transfer the bulb over to another fixture where 135 watts will work and grab another 3-way.

Thinking about a 3-way LED? Don't bother. Maybe someday. The customer is losing control of one market after another.

I had to have this the first time I saw it!! A friend sent me an email photo of the full size 40" LEG LAMP. The full size model was just too expensive. I couldn't justify spending that kind of money on something I'm only going to drag out once a year. The 20" model is great. I only payed 40 bucks for it at SUNCOAST VIDEO.

MAKES A EXCELLENT HOLIDAY GIFT FOR THAT HARD-TO-BUY-FOR FRIEND WHO LOVES THE MOVIE.

It's a realistic replica of the one Daren McGavin receives in CHRISTMAS STORY. The lamp shade is made with a nice fabric, it's the right color, and it has the cheesy fringe around the bottom. The leg is wrapped in a beautiful fishnet stocking and has a standard socket on top. It also lights up inside the leg. Which begs the question; how am I gonna get inside the leg to change THAT bulb once it burns out? The lamp doesn't come with instructions or a switch on the cord. There is a sticker on the socket with a WARNING: DUE TO THE RISK OF FIRE DO NOT TO USE ANYTHING LARGER THAN A 40 WATT BULB, so you won't catch the lamp shade on fire. Also the leg stands a tiny bit crooked, which is okay because it's supposed to look cheesy. Just don't tighten the shade all the way down and it will level out and hang nicely. Mine is displayed prominently in my living room window. Who needs a Christmas tree?...

After all, "IT'S A MAJOR AWARD!!"

This is a great little lamp that is suitable for placement in the front window of any house; after all, it's a major award! The thing that is great about this lamp is that not only is it relatively inexpensive, but it doesn't take up much room, unlike the real size (40 inch) lamp (which I also have, and also endorse highly) which tends to overwhelm smaller rooms.

The lamp works great, although the maximum bulb wattage is pretty restrictive. The actual lamp looks even better than the Amazon illustration (particularly the hose on the leg, which appear to have a finer mesh than depicted) and it looks especially great when the internal leg light is on.

This is a great gift: it's fun, affordable, and adds a touch of class to any room (well it at least adds a touch of fun, if not class.) This is a great little leg lamp at an attractive price, but always remember: it's fra-gee-lay.

I don't think I've ever been as disappointed with a purchase from Amazon. On Christmas day and we gave this lamp to my father in-law. He plugs it in and turns it on...POP. The bulb appears to burn out, so I go get another. We put in the new bulb and turn on. Nothing. We turn the switch again...smoke! Then the wall outlet scorches and the circuit breaker pops.

After disassembling the lamp, we discover TWO electrical problems: 1. the switch is faulty and 2. it has been wired incorrectly. I could not have been more embarassed. We spent 3 hours re-building the lamp becase father-in-law felt bad and wouldn't let me return it.

$64 with shipping for a piece of trash. The next day we purchased all the necessary equipment to re-wire the entire lamp. Also had to buy a new wall outlet to replace the scorched one!

No warranty info, company info, or ANYTHING in the box. Basically you will get a box with the lamp inside. I plan to pursue this for my own satisfaction, but please be warned. It was a great gift (and I still believe a great idea). Unfortunately it was costly, embarassing, and above all dangerous!

This half-scale reproduction of "Dad's" famous "major award" isn't completely accurate (as has been noted here in another review) but for a mere 40 bucks, it's certainly close enough for most Christmas Story fans, including this one! The large-size version by NECA also suffers from the same (minor) inaccuracies, so their half-size version is certainly the better deal if you're hankering to own the classic leg lamp. Something to consider: It's smaller scale will fit nicely on the table between your home theatre recliners and will go well with any other home theatre decor. It certainly does with mine, never failing to draw smiling comments when a new guest first sees it. And your lamp will too. (And my home theatre room is full of other types of movie/tv memorbilia to distract the eye.) So stop vascilating and "award" this classic to yourself (or a loved one) for being a steadfast fan of one of the best holiday movies ever made. And remember: Be sure to ask the seller to mark the package "Fragile" so you too can become "Dad" for a nostalgic moment when it arrives at your door.

The lamp was exactly as advertised and arrived timely in perfect condition. One disappointment the lamp arrived in a product box, not a shipping box. I wanted this to be a surprise for my husband, but when we got home the package was waiting on us. It not only had the contents printed on the box (multiple times), it also had a picture of the lamp. Since my gift was no longer a surprise, I let me put it on display early. He was as happy as a small child on Christmas morning. He is proudly displaying his gift in our front window for the neighborhood to enjoy!

i ordered two. one arrived broken but at least the company issued a refund for the broken one. the second one just shows poor construction and poor quality of materials, particularly the glass. i just kept it at this point because i couldn't be bothered to pack it back up as it's a heavy item.

I bought this vise to re-grip golf clubs mainly. I bolted the vise down and tightened the swivel and everything looked great. However, I noticed that the swivel would not tighten completely. The swivel base still moves about half an inch when tugged in either direction. Besides that the vise works great for holding objects in place. It's definitely for light duty use. I can still use it for re-gripping clubs and sharpening lawn mower blades, but that's about all I use it for. You will need 3/8 bolts, washers and four nuts to install. (about 5 bucks at a hardware store). Hope this review helps.

This is a nice little light-duty vise -All functions work as expected, with but ONE important exception :

The swivel lock is NOT solid and the vise body rotates under load about the lock screw. The problem is that the swivel-center shoulder-bolt operates in a sloppy cast hole rather than a machined hole. . I have successfully installed a collar or ferrule of brass tubing around the shoulder of that bolt to take up much of the slack and so to reduce the problem -It is pretty good now. . The brass tubing I used to make that ferrule is 15/32" OD x 7/16" ID x 3/8" long. . The raw brass tubing is available from hobby stores.

However, it should be noted that the center bolt is much, MUCH too small in diameter for its application -I have asked the manufacturer, Adjustable Clamp, to correct the design -a larger shoulder bolt and a machined hole for it. . It will cost them only a few pennies.

A minor problem -The finish cut on the anvil was a bit rough, inviting a finger cut on the edges -I made quick work of that with a mill file and some carbide abrasive paper. The anvil is quite user-friendly now.

This vise resembles a little GREEN vise I dropped on my big toe 73 years ago -That nail is still troublesome.

The only negative I have for it other than the swivel problem : Made in China ! . How much more would it have cost to make here in the U S A ? -A couple of bucks, I reckon ! . Sad !

I got this vise for Christmas 2012. I used this vise for small jobs, and I thought I had hit the jackpot. I really liked it, but when I tried to clamp on something remotely tight, one side of it totally broke off rendering it useless.

I recommend this vise for light duty hobbies and for a child's workbench.

I do not recommend this vise for anything remotely heavy duty. I take care of my tools, and I was totally shocked when it fell apart on me.

Sure, it takes about an hour to warm up to a unique display--as others have mentioned; however, I find THAT aspect very comforting in today's fast-paced, too immediate, too loud, too impatient, too now-oriented society. The Lava lamp moves with its own motion and mood. Its purpose is to calm and to relax a person; it is the perfect companion for some soft music and NO TV.

I love the colors of this product. They are very soothing. When the lava really starts moving, mingling, the lamp has a beautiful, unearthly quality about it. I tend to watch each blob with interest and forget the day's troubles.

This is great lamp... Received mine from "Lamps Plus" via Amazon.com and the package came in perfect condition with plenty of cushion to get it to my home safely... This one has nice contrasting colors that give off a nice glow to the room without really adding much light... Great, fun light!!!

I've had this color and base for over 5 years and I love it. Once the wax warms up enough to rise, it captures your attention whenever you walk into the room. It's a lovely natural blue/green combination but bright and cheerful.

The frequent bulb replacements (about once every 2 months) are annoying but worth the effect. My only complaint is that the wax has lost weight over the years (whereas I have done the opposite) and now it floats at the top.

Mine did nothing when I first got it. The blue blob just sat at the bottom of the bottle. I shook it once and turned the light off for an hour. After an hour I switched it back on again and was rewarded with the COOLEST show of liquid motion ever! At first the wax stretched towards the top of the glass and after two hours...the neat little balls started forming.

I am hooked on this little relaxation device now. I could stare at those globules stretching, twisting, balling-up and colliding with each other ALL DAY now! Its really more soothing than a fish tank, and works PERFECT with relaxing music. It is a great conversation piece and therapeutic...all wrapped up in one cool, retro looking lamp!

I suggest hooking a timer to it and scheduling it to work while you sleep. The lamp seems to work much better when it cycles between OFF/ON periodically. The lamp MUST cool down every 6-8 hours...or else you'll see nothing but a lazy, round blob sitting at the bottom of the glass. Don't buy it for the illumination...get it because it definitely will UNSTRESS YOU.

Our first lamp from this company did not work, it just sat as a blob in the bottom. However, the company, Lamps Plus sent a new one that works great. You MUST put these lamps on a timer or they will over-heat or not be warmed up in time for bed. My 8 year loves his lamp in his room as he goes to sleep.

I collect octopus and there are not too many out there that tickle my fancy. This little guy is so cute, especially when he is lit up. Amazon had him for sale at a very reasonable price; just couldn't resist him.
