I collect Tiffany-type lamps and I ordered this Angel Lamp to use as a bedside lamp on my nightstand. I will start by saying that the lamp arrived with lightning speed. I ordered it one day, and had it in my possession the next. I will also say that, in my vast experience with Amazon over many years, the fact that I am not returning the lamp is not at all the fault of Amazon. Returns are easy and efficient. I thought about returning the lamp, but I just didn't want to deal with the hassle of repackaging such a fragile item. I have chosen, instead, to use the lamp in a room other than that for which it was intended.
Here are the issues:
1. In the description of the item, and also evident in the photo, the lamp is clearly described as having two pull-chains beneath the shade and accommodate two bulbs. In actuality, the lamp requires only one (60-watt or less) flame-type bulb, and has no chain operation. It has an inline switch which makes it very difficult to turn it on and off when in bed as the switch is behind my bed. As a bedside lamp, the pull chains would have been far more convenient and are the main reason I ordered this particular lamp. Another reason for choosing this one was the angel theme. The angel theme appealed to me for use in the bedroom as a sort of "Guardian Angel." However...
2. The colors of the glass in this lamp are very, very dark when the lamp is not illuminated. The wings of the angel are actually a very dark shade of navy blue. When the lamp is off, the wings are practically invisible which makes the angel just look like a girl in a pink dress.
3. Lastly, the joints of the pieces of stained glass are extremely rough. I tried to dust the styrofoam particles off the lampshade when I first unpacked it and it was a bit of a chore as the cloth kept snagging on the roughness of the wire/solder (not sure what to call this.) I do not have this problem with any of my other stained glass lamps. They are very smooth and easy to care for.
As I said, I am keeping the lamp. I am reviewing it solely as a "heads up" to those who may be considering ordering it and expecting a two-bulb, two-chain lamp.
I haven't done this before but will try to post a few pictures.This lamp arrived broken. Notified Amazon and received a replacement within a few days. Before return was received by Amazon.
