Every time I turn on my lights after roughly 10-15 seconds of "warming up" there is quite a substantial flicker. I've grown used to it, but every time I have guests over they always comment on my fluorescent bulbs being "cheap" because they flicker. It's embarrassing that an $8 light bulb has this problem. And it's not just my batch as I bought the same 64161 bulb from multiple places (Brick & Mortar included) as there weren't enough in stock when I ordered.I needed instant bright light for a stairway in a cold, dark hallway. Regular 23 watt CFL's were too dim for the first minute. By the time they were bright the steps had been traversed. These halogen-cfl lamps are the perfect solution. There is a slight dimming after about one minute when the halogen turns off but it is barely noticable. These lamps are great for locations such as this.
