I usually don't bother with writing reviews because I usually stick to products that have already been reviewed extensively and my observations don't add much to the conversation. That being said, this product has me frustrated and there aren't many reviews yet. It arrived in the evening and I needed to use it the next morning, which is when I opened it up. It arrived in good condition in a large plastic bag inside a cardboard box. Here are my complaints:1) The inside of the bag was completely oily and so was the entire oiler bucket, hose, and oiler nozzel. I didn't see any reason for all the oil so I was a little frustrated as I wiped it down.
2) I filled it with about 5 quarts of dark threading oil and it immediately began leaking from where the oiler hose leaves the bucket. I drained the oil and dis-assembled the hose assembly to fix the leak. I found a fairly significant barb in the hole in the sidewall of the bucket keeping the seals from doing their job. I hammered it out, put a more substantial neoprene gasket in place of the small o-ring and reassembled. Leak fixed.
3) There must still be a leak somewhere in the oiler hose or hand pump as it seems to loose its prime quickly and easily. I had to pump like crazy to get enough oil to keep my threaders cool. Also, because of the air mixed in with the oil is splatters rather than a smooth stream of oil. Hopefully it won't take too much to find the air leak and fix this problem.
I'd have saved money just buying the Ridgid oiler at double the cost and not wasted my time working on getting it functional.
Hopefully I just got a lemon and the rest are great.
