This is the second product I tried in my garage lanterns and it works perfectly. The other design had the sensor in an arm the stuck out to the side. Since the Lantern is black, it thought that it was always dark and would never turn off. This product has the sensor built into the side and behaves perfectly, just as expected, in the same fixture. Fabulous control; fabulous price.

I have used 2 of these for our front porch lights for over 3 years and only recently had to replace one. The device uses a photo cell to detect light so if not facing the right way it wont work. If only faced partially in the right direction, it will flicker. Simply loosen the bulb/base a qtr or half a turn or so until it is facing properly. Do this when dark so you know how far to turn the base. Stop when the light is on and steady. Eureka!

Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I did have one die. But given the price and it lasted 3 yrs, still got my moneys' worth. Thx!

It is a fairly good product that does what they say. The only thing I didn't know was that it doesn't work properly when used for a lamp. I found it out after reading the instruction manual.

I was very excited about the simplicity of the idea. I purchased two from Home Depot. I mounted one in the porch light and one in the lamp attached outside the garage. Then evening came and neighbors rang the doorbell at dusk. They thought that the alarm system went off because both lights were flickering like hell!
